Hello, i stangely couldn't make this clear through searches. Is snapdragon version codename Santoni?
Yep
Hey. The 64gb version is code named santoni
All redmi 4 have the snapdragon 435
What's prada, markw? I have the "Redmi 4X", not just "Redmi 4". Global Version.
Well don't have. Will receive soon ^^
Hi!
Xiaomi has different devices under Redmi 4 series.
Redmi 4, Redmi 4X and maybe some other Prime variants.
Redmi 4's codename is Prada
Redmi 4X's codename is Santoni.
always look for which processor your device has, Redmi 4 (Prada has Qualcomm Snapdragon 430) and Redmi 4X ( Santoni has Qualcomm Snapdragon 435)
there is some confusion between users from India because xiaomi has launched Redmi 4X as Redmi 4 which is already exist and yet they named it Redmi 4 and it is making confusions.
but do not worry first check which processor your device has (can be found written on the box or just download any app that shows hardware from playstore)
hope this helps,
Regards.

It will not. GSMarena doesn't list device codenames.
But i have this device in multiple storage units and my CPUZ app says it is santoni. Everytime i flash it, the recovery says it's santoni.
I am connecting the dots here for you. Because i too was super confused when i began looking for roms for my device.
So, if you are getting this specific model (check the looks, config, release date and match it with what you purchased) you are on the right forum.
As said, it's the global version (with European frequency). Would be same as Chinese though.
so if i have redmi 4 (THIS: http://en.miui.com/download-318.html) will redmi 4x rom work on it?
i checked that link and clicked on download and the rom file name consist HM4X meaning Redmi 4X so i don't think so there is going to be any problem.
your provided link which of Redmi 4 Indian variant and Redmi 4X both ROM are same so there shouldn't be any issue using this considering you have Redmi 4X or Redmi 4 Indian variant.
they shouldn't have changed the Redmi 4X name to Redmi in India and shouldn't have created two device section for same device when they already have Redmi 4(prada) and Redmi 4 prime (markw) which created confusion among users.
You can check on MIUI Forum download section you'll see same ROM for Redmi 4X and Redmi 4 Indian variant ( as i am new user here i am not allowed to post link just now) so there shouldn't be any issue to flash.
let me explain list different devices with there codename and processors
Redmi 4 -> Prada (China variant) has Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 processor
Redmi 4 prime -> Markw has Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 processor
Redmi 4X and Redmi 4 Indian variant -> Santoni has Qualcomm MSM8940 Snapdragon 435 processor
hope this helps
Regards.

Yes, you can. Redmi 4X ROM does not depend upon Storage and RAM capacity.
the same ROM is applicable to all Redmi 4X version regardless of Storage and RAM capacity but just make sure to use Redmi 4X ROM. Codename for Redmi 4X is Santoni.
i have used china rom but it has bloatware and throws advertisements in Mi music player and in Mi browser and theme store is all in chinese language despite using English as system language which i do not like at all.
Global ROM is good in term of this but it does contains some Google apps pre installed and i do not have any issue with it since i use those apps.
you will bootloader unlocked to switch from China ROM to Global ROM or vice versa.
Hey,
I'm wondering what are differences between Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. There are few different versions of this phone with the same name.
Could anyone list me that??
I have no clue about this device. My friend owns it and wants me to install a custom rom on it. Will redmi 4x custom roms work on this on redmi 4?
Easiest way to determine this download and install any system information app from google play store. (such as aida64, cpu-z or any other app there's many available)
If your friend has Redmi 4 which sold in the India then it is Redmi 4X santoni sold as Redmi 4 in India which has Qualcomm snapdragon 435 SoC. This same applies to Redmi note 4 too which is actually Redmi note 4X Mido. they have remove the X from it which makes confusion among users.
and if the device has not bought in the India and doesn't have Qualcomm snapdragon 435 SoC then it is different device.
if it has Qualcomm MSM8937 Snapdragon 430 then it is Redmi 4(china)
if you can't determine i can help you out in this case just share screenshots about phone and system hardware information app which you've downloaded from google play store.
also share device pictures if possible that will also help.

Yes, go ahead. you are good to flash your desired ROM.
Just remember the codename is Santoni and it should be mentioned in respective ROM threads.
Will not work
As we have 3 versions of redmi note 10 pro
Redmi Note 10 Pro (Global) β sweetpro
Redmi Note 10 Pro Max (India) β sweetin_pro
Redmi Note 10 Pro (India) β sweetin
As the specifications are identical, the only difference is camera module.
So the rom of every model will be same or different?

Are you sure the above code names are correct?
I think Note 10 Pro Max (India) is called sweetin, not swettin_pro
Not sure about pro, but sweet and sweetin are same and ROMs work on both devices.

The new ArrowOS changelog says that the device "sweet" has been added so I would guess that the rom has support for all the different cameras...Will check up about this.
Edit: I think by sweet they mean the non pro variant , but the Arrow OS post is in the resmi note 10 pro forum???

I think "sweet" is codename for pro variant. It's because when I try to UBL, the codename that appear in Mi Flash Unlock is "sweet". My device variant is Redmi Note 10 Pro Indonesia.

Might be.
If the other 2 or 3 char after "SWEET" word/country or region initial is not matter. It's mean, the codename of all variant is "SWEET" except for India variant is "SWEETIN"
According from official rom on mi.com, rom code for India variant is "SWEETININ". If we remove the initial country of India "IN". It's mean the India variant codename is 'SWEETIN".

Hi Folks,
I've been looking around for a new rootable phone. I'd like to get one that's simple to root & has at least 8GB of RAM & expandable MicroSD slot.
Yesterday I was having a look at the OnePlus phones & noticed they have no memory expansion, so that ruled that one out.
Today I've been checking out the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro 128GB/8GB RAM, that looks OK.
While researching for rootable phones I've noticed that among phones that are rootable there are specific model types of that device that can't be rooted. Regarding the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro, I've noticed there are two versions, including Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro (Global 128GB/8GB) & Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro (India 128GB/8GB), according to this spec sheet.
According to these articles the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro can be rooted & TWRP can be installed: How To Root Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro; How to Root Redmi Note 10 Pro; How to Install TWRP Recovery on Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro and Root it.
However, I didn't see anything about specific types of this device that this pertains to (Indian or Global/International).
According to the XDA forum, Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro can be rooted & there are multiple ROMs available. I've had a look at these writeups: Redmi Note 10 Pro & Status of Custom ROMS for Note 10 Pro.
I didn't notice anything about specific models of this device.
My question is, can both of these versions of the Note 10 Pro be rooted & take TWRP & custom ROMs?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
thank you

yes!
they CAN be rooted, you just have to wait 1 week in order your boot loader to be unlocked from Xiaomi. After the boot unlock you are free to flash TWRP and Magisk

lubo777,
Thanks for the response. I'm looking into that now.
Hi. Which boot image can flash with Magisk if I have EU fw 12.5.6.0 ?
I did not find this full fw to download. As far as I know, I need fw with fastboot to download

Seems like 12.5.6 EU fastboot ROM is not available. According to this link.
You can create a backup of boot image and patch that.
Fastboot ROM is not available for 12.5.6.0 ,I know.
Do you think it won't even be available? I'd rather wait.
Because, extract boot img from phone without root is too complicated for me and it's not my phone
And,
can I downgrade from 12.5.6.0 to 12.5.4.0 without problem?

No problem, it's new phone with a few apps. Now yet I must wait for unlock bootloader.
Thank you
Is there a different procedure for Pro Max version?
