Can install GSam Battery for monitoring
is screen burn with too long use of this app ?
Uninstalled right away. Full of invasive popup ads and doens't even resemble the always on galaxy s7.
I would suggest you guys Glance plus which has a minimum impact on the battery.
I'm currently using always on display since the latest update... seems much better... but it's still battery intensive... but not as bad as it was. Glance definitely is less battery hungry but it's not exactly always on...!! So until the real APK is out I'll keep using always on. I've even payed to get rid of the adds.. definitely worth it.

AdAway to block ads... devs need ads for some $
All these apps are useless to me, I'd rather wait for the app port and source code releases by Samsung, then waste my battery life on these apps. Digitizer will walkways waste battery.

How do you uninstall this app??
Its posted in google play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.orthur.always_on_display and here and there with negative review
@senzatiOn-
i installed the latest version of the app on a g925f with custom kernel and rom.
i works with no errors.
only one bug i found untill now and that is when i am on a phone call using bluetooth handset, while i press the power on button to turn off the screen, or when the system tries to turn it off, the screen turns back on after a second.
The battery was drained by 5% within an hour with the brightness set to 25% of the slider.
Overall i am pleased by it. Keep up the good work.
Best app loved it i was fedup by lame display of google always on

I share the same observation, after the ICS update my Galaxy note the package access helper is using most of the CPU, and it is draining the battery!
Any help in understanding the process would be helpful
Ive just checked my phone and no Package acess helper icon there but i do have battery drain

I've tried stock ICS LPY and LQ2 and it seems this is one of those rogue services that is destined to fry your phone. It seems to fire up when uninstalling apps and then gobbles up huge amounts of CPU and just keeps going.
This morning I installed 3-4 small apps and quickly uninstalled two of them. The uninstalls took ages - like over a minute each - and the phone was getting warm at the back. I used System Panel Lite to check on processes and CPU usage and this little ****er was going like the clappers and showing no sign of stopping.
Another one to look out for on stock ICS is the Samsung keyboard, and possibly other keyboards (e.g. Swiftkey X) too. They seem capable of clocking up huge CPU minutes if the wind is in the wrong direction, despite the keyboard barely being used, if at all. I have no idea what prompts the crazy behaviour on that one, but I've seen it several times over the course of different ICS installs.
I never saw these problems with the Gingerbread ROMs.
Up..
Can anyone help us with this annoying problem?
I don't know why it would have high battery usage unless an install did not complete correctly and left the process running. Have you tried a battery pull reset?
Can't say that I agree here. Maybe because I'm running fOmey's awesome rom, but the last thing I'm thinking of is how "bad" the batt life is.

Easily get 2 days. You'll see plenty of others around here reporting similar. Even with stock. Battery life increased with more recent versions of firmware and especially gear manager. And last longer with motion setting disabled
Are you using custom faces with watch styler or one of the stock faces? I think WS eats more battery but I find the many faces worth it. I plug in my phone every night so I have no issues with charging the watch

watchstyler - especially if using second hand drains battery
Yeah, can easily get two days, and the watch charges extremely fast so that isnt an issue for me

people are complaining about gear's battery life and tells us about how great 'pebble' is. truth is, it sucks balls. either you are getting a smartwatch (gear) or a watch with smart extensions (pebble).
i don't see an issue with the gear's battery life, as the things i can do on it out beats any other "smart"watch.
The problem is most of the"professional" reviewers have probably only used it for a few hours and then only when it first came out, it's a shame they aren't more diligent.

That's a fair question. No, I'm not using any custom faces.
I am completely stock and on newest firmware. I must say battery life is awesome for me. Using stock watch face with weather and could easily get 3 days out of my gear. Although I charge every night I am only draining about 40% from 330 am to 930 pm. Very very happy with this.

I just moved from an iPhone so I am not sure if what I am having is anything serious. Battery seems to be dropping much faster than I am used to seeing.
Phone takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to charge, it's speedy but battery was draining pretty quickly so I rooted and installed LiquidSmooth.
It says that the process names Android OS is taking 81 percent of my battery.
Things are still as they were, I am not sure what do next. Any help or pointing to the right thred would be very appreciated.

See this one too, if it helps identifying whether the discharge is normal or not!
What did you modify?
It seems that something keep your phone awake more then it should be.
Try to unistal apps that runing in background (those snapdragon apps, 56% stuff) and etc.
Fast dormancy also has possibility to cause high Android OS, you may try to look if your carrier support fast dormancy, if not then disable it.
Hope I help
Thanks!

I had tried to pinpoint the most draining app, tried BetterBatteryStats and the tutorial about how to interpret the data but couldn't solve it.
I installed SlimKat and by battery is doing just fine, 7 hours gone with wifi on with moderate usage and I am on 60 percent now.

Are you sure it's the USSD menu?
Mine doesn't (just checked), and neither did my Qtek 1010 (Although it coped poorly with the feature).
Granted, I'm not using a Blue Angel, and my i-mate is ROMmed to the hilt, but surely the menu should just trigger a sound event (that I certainly don't have) which you can switch off?
Does it do the same when you Look4It (*120*5555# I think) ?

All of a sudden for me too, GPS is now eating up to 15% of my battery and the Android OS is at 11%... I noticed this this morning. The only thing I installed last night was Greenify...
Quite similar to what I have. Android system and Android os always on top

This is new for me. I normally have pretty crap battery life but services and OS are normally never this high. The battery on my phone is so hit or miss. It 's behavior seriously changes daily. I don't get it.

By the way, it got me to 8.30pm yesterday before I had to charge. As bad and inconsistent the battery is, at the very least I can say it gets me to dinner without too much babying. I'm just concerned when it drains much quicker than usual which means I can't use it as much for it to survive.
guys ever since the update, i've had a horrible battery life because of kernel and system_server processes. Does anyone knows whats the cause or how i can fix the issue, i've tired "Wake Lock Detector", "GSAM", everything i can think of, even "show CPU" in the developer option, i cant seem to find the cause of the issue. if nessary ill add pictures to show the results that am getting
sorry, completely forgot to mention that am using a S5 Active(G870A) and updated to 5.0 (OC5) using @muniz_ri version http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-update-to-g870aoc5-5-0-keeproot-t3083841
If screen is on alot not much help here; However, I am using my deductive reasoning & will suggest deep sleep battery saver. Makes my phone stay in the 90%s if my screen is off awhile. Firefox beta uses battery until you physically exit out I've learned. Last thought for now, kernal tuner. Put 1 CPU governor to powersave. Not sure if it matters which? Mine is CPU1. Hope it helped.
My Samsung S5 Active. Yes I read pages. Thanks
I wish it was the screen but the screen only takes up 3% of battery usage while android OS and kernel takes up about 50% combined and I have no idea what to do because "show cpu" state that system_server and media server is the culprit
