Desire 626s T-Mobile - sim-unlock and remove screen sharpening? - Desire 626 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Just bought Desire 626s as my second phone - need one for work. Device is great, but it's sim-locked (T-Mobile) and I would like to remove the full-screen sharpening that thing does.
I am new to Android, but I will be able to perform procedures like rooting the phone and replacing firmware if there are instructions. What do I need to do to sim-unlock and remove this nasty sharpening?

Can I unlock the Froyo bootloader and root?

Hi Guys, After research I found conflicting answers, so created the thread.
My friend received a used Nexus1 with Froyo already installed. Can He unlock the bootloader and root the phone? When He turns on the phone, their is no ''unlock'' symbol at the bottom. Why Google has not patched the bootloader and rooting procedure in the Froyo firmware? like Apple, everytime their is new firmware update, the jailbreak is lost and the device becomes secure.
Can the stock apps like Amazon Mp3 store can be removed without rooting N1? Also, can N1 be Unrooted like HTC Desire for warranty purpose?
Thanks in advance.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, the phone remains unlocked unless it's sent to HTC service centre for repairs etc.
Thus, there's no need for you to unlock it again. Android is different from apple in the sense that, Google WANTS you to do whatever you want to your phone as long as you're aware of what you're doing.

[Q] Virgin mobile HTC 510 sim unlock problem

Saw someone said that there's no difference between the cdma version of htc 510 and the gsm version. So I think it can be sim unlocked just like the htc one m7/m8.
Here's what I've tried.
First unlock bootloader at http://www.htcdev.com/
Then root the device as this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-510/general/how-to-root-htc-desire-510-t2951744
Then following the htc one unlock procedure as this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2586704
Since 510 has 4.4.2, so a modified HtcOMADM_SPCS is needed. That's where I got stuck. The modified file shared on the forum causes vDM client crashes, and no API pop out.
Any ideas?
I have the same issue. any ideas?
you have S-OFF ?
This device has lots of potential, maybe we should offer a bounty for this.

You're in the wrong area to use TWRP, or {Install a new Oden (Kerrnal) [Download Mode]}
Bootloader isn't for anything useful to lame brains like me, besides unlocking the bootloader, rooting it, and fixing the SD write issue, then relocking the bootloader.
What we did wrong is this! we didn't have all the correct programs running when we unlocked the bootloader, after that we rooted our phones. Gotten the root is correctly installed from a root apk/exe {programs} once we reset our phones, we get stuck at the service provider screen. the only way off this screen is to press the both volume
buttons + power until it resets. if we don't press the volume down + power buttons it reboots & locks up again at the service provider screen.
For HTC Phones:
HTC phones can flash stock ROMs, known as RUUs, right from the phone's bootloader. You'll need to Google around for your device's specific RUU file, but once you download it, save the ZIP file to your SD card, and rename it (to something like PG05IMG.zip—the download page for the RUU file should specify which filename is required), booting up your phone should automatically flash the stock ROM from HBOOT, HTC's bootloader.

HTC Desire 625 Cricket
***UNLOCKED***
htc_a32eul PVT S-ON
OS-1.23.507.5
Thank you!:fingers-crossed:
Buenas tengo problema también con htc desire 625 cricket y no encuentro una stock room
I just bought one of these (Cricket HTC 625) to use as a temporary phone after my Sony Z2 Failed (Touch screen spazzing out/left, 1/4 non-responsive).
I am going to (carrier) unlock it, but obviously a more generic ROM would be nice, too.
I'm experienced at installing ROMs via various way, installing recoveries, using ADB, etc., but I know nothing about this phone (I've never had an HTC phone)
Is this phone essentially a branded 626?
Can I re/un brand it with any 626 rom?
A quick intro to this phone would be appreciated.
I also bought a 625 from cricket recently. Someone told me via pm here at the forum that it could be rooted using the same method as the 626s, but the person has not (yet) pointed me to the guide he used.
I'd like to learn more also

I bought a couple of these as "Refurbished HTC 625" from Cricket for $0.99. The phone I received is an HTC Desire 626s. In fact if you look at the "settings->about->phone" it says "HTC Desire 626s".
I was able to unlock the bootloader / install a custom recovery / root, but there does not appear to be any ROMs available. My previous experience was with Kindle Fires and Nexus 5s, so I was a bit surprised with the dev threads for this phone.

That's an awesome deal.
I paid $6 for one of those instant on-line carrier unlocks, so you'd have a fairly modern and capable unlocked Android phone for ~$7.00. If I could un-lock and un-brand them, I could sell as many as I could get at a significant profit!
As I mentioned, mine was a temporary replacement. I've since purchased an Honor 8 as a permanent replacement, but the HTC served me well in the interim.

Thanks Jake - I got it rooted not too long after I'd made that post but I appreciate you taking the time to post that
I got myself a 625 last year, when I boot the thing into download mode it shows htc_a32eul
The official Cricket RUU for 626s also shows A32EUL in the filename. So perhaps this rom wil help you ?
http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...4.1777877360.1498843151-1775625655.1498843151
Here you can find that the 625 is the same as the 626s

edit: I can confirm this RUU is working on Cricket desire 625 ! The phone now has the official ROM again and when i tap "about" in the system settings it shows 626s. Everything is working fine ! So I'm now thinking of flashing to a custom 626s rom

The refurbished one was $1 with 1-month plan purchase requirement, great phone for the price.
