Very good case for wireless charging needed ... - Galaxy Note5 Accessories

Dear all.
I've protected my Note 5 with a powerful case. See here ...
http://www.amazon.com/Ringke-SIGNATURE-Genuine-Handcrafted-Executive/dp/B011LZRBRM
But today I recognized, that it's not QI-capable ...
I think the bottom of the case is "too fat" (the leather).
Can you recommend a good case for my Note 5? Not just a visible case. The case should also protect, when the device is falling down ... :good:
Thanks a lot ...
kangaroo72

these two Verus and Obliq work well for me. a few drops and no scratches on screen yet. I prefer the obliq since I have a skin and it also has a kickstand

The Otterbox works with wireless charging.

most cases work with wireless charger , just make sure the cases have no metal

unicorn beetle also works well with most if not all wireless chargers

I use this case is very good dropped my phone multiple times and is still like new.

Supcase Note 5 case. Offer good drop protection?

So I got a bunch of cases but can't decide which one I want to use next. I'm currently using my Artech21 case which I love but I don't dig the screen protector. I got a Supcase which has an amazing built in protector but it seems kind of thin.
The best case I have is the poetic revolution case but it doesn't work with wireless charging.
Would the Supcase still be considered rugged though for drop protection? The reason why I didn't rock it a lot is because it seems kind of thin.

I don't have the supcase, do have the artech21 tho and I agree the built in screen protector is junk. I simply removed it, it's just glued in like the otterbox defenders. It's tight but my tempered glass one fits nicely with the artech21.
i have a supcase beetle. it offers good protection. works fine with a wireless charger. i'm currently using chloe fast wireless charger with the case on.

Would you consider it heavy duty though like Otterbox? The reviews on Amazon have some bad reviews for Supcase not protecting from drops.

Though I wouldn't really want to drop my phone, I am Confident it wouldn't break if I drop it with the case on. So, yes it is heavy duty and should offer some measure of protection like otter, without the bulk
Im on my 2nd SUPCASE. my little boy broke the clip on my first with a bat. ive dropped mine numerous times,on to steel and concrete, with out any problems. i also like the holster better than the Defender case i bought when i bought my Note5,but if you pocket your phone, the SUPCASE is far more pocket friendly than the Defender. The silicone outer cover on the Defender is gonna collect lent and such like crazy, and it will also stretch and be a pain to get out. That being said, the couple of times of dropped my SUPCASE,have been because it slipped out of my hand. The other upside that Defender has,is the built in screen protector. The one on the Defender is far more S-Pen friendly than that of the SUPCASE,that and the one on the SUPCASE seems to scratch easier. The other thing I like more about the SUPCASE,is that there is more coverage above the s-pen slot on the back. The first time I dropped mine in the Defender, the phone made contact with concrete right by the pen. Not all that bad,but considering I had just paid $350 2 weeks prior for the 64GB I have,I was a little upset. Long story short,if you already have a Defender case,I wouldnt mind shelling out the $16 or so for the SUPCASE. The SUPCASE offers just as good protection, with a slimmer profile. If youre gonna pay $55 or so for the Defender, you might as well try the SUPCASE too.

Wireless Charger Convertible and cases that work with it

I hate taking my case off to charge and happen to find a good case that actually works with the charger.
Galaxy Note 8 Case,Berry Accessory Heavy Duty Rugged [Drop Protection][Shock Proof][Dual Lawyer] Hybrid Defender Armor with Built-in Kickstand Case Cover For Samsung Galaxy Note 8 2017 (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074LT1JQP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_tXZTzbY3AVPGZ
It doesn't seem to charge when the stand is in the upright position with the case on but charges fine laying flat with the case on.
I also noticed that the charger is fast, but not as fast as just using the plug the old fashion way. With or without the case... Doesn't matter.
Alcantara for the win Chuck!
the military case is very nice and easy to slip the phone in and out of. it takes me literally like 4 seconds to pop it out. its a nice case--quality and not too over the top looking like some of these nonsense cases ive seen.
but yea i dont want to make that a habit and i prefer wireless over wired.
the alcantara was my go to case from jump street but had to wait to get it. it has no issues on the sammy charging leather couch.. :silly:

Rugged Case Recommendations

So I am always in the woods climbing, hiking, and many other activities so I am looking for a case that provides a good amount of protection without the loss of functionality. I plan to pair the case with a tempered glass screen protector as well. So below are the basics I am looking for in a case, in order of priority.
1. Rugged protection
2. Provides friction so it's not a slippery case, not looking for a soap in the bathroom issue
3. Wireless charging/NFC compatible
4. Way to connect the case to a backpack or harness (tie off loop or something. This is optional but would be super awesome to have for grabbing some selfies up a route)
Here are a few cases I have been looking at
1. UAG Monarch Case - Covers 1 -3 but out of stock everywhere it seems like, pricier than other options
2. Spigen Tough Armor - Covers 1 & 3, maybe less on 2 and is cheaper but I wonder if it is as rugged/protective as UAG Monarch
3. ARMOR-X shockproof case - An interesting case with little information but they definitely have 4 covered and most likely 1 and 2 but not sure about 3.
4. Trishield Heavy Duty Cover - Not sure if it meets 3, but it seems to cover the rest. The one Amazon review seems to talk about crappy screen protector and belt clip, both I would not be using.
5. Ringke Cases - I have heard mention of these guys but not sure which case provides the best protection and having the lanyard loop. Also, can't find where the lanyard would attach
6. Zizo [Bolt Series] - Seems to provide everything but reviews make it seem that 3 is questionable. So far this is my favorite case if 3 isn't an issue.
I know I am asking for a miracle to have all four covered but any opinions on these cases that I have missed or any other ideas. I really don't care about looks etc.
The UAG Monarch can be purchased on the UAG site, set to ship in one week. I ordered that one. Also ordered the Tough Armor, but have heard not-so-great things about its degree of protection.
Old thread, but just in case anyone else was in the same boat...
My zizo bolt charges wireless fine, and I'v even got some very old chargers.
Here are some of the ones I use without issue:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X15HLD9/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01B1LT8Y0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UGIA0WY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I even have those old nokia wireless chargers that ATT was clearing out years ago. Still going strong, charges fine through the zizo bolt case.
I have an older samsung wireless charger that I got with my note5...that works too.
This is the only one in my house that doesn't work:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018E2YOWU/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
and I think it's a failure of the charger, not the device or case because it failed with slimmer cases and other phones.
The only thing I don't like about the Zizo bolt case is that it's not as much friction as I would have liked. It's still pretty slippery.
Try the SUPCASE Galaxy Note 8 Unicorn Beetle Pro Full Body Rugged Holster Case that comes with a holder that attaches to your belt. Its full protection and its not that expensive either.

Big ask - dex compatible AND wireless charging compatible galaxy note 8 cases??

Big ask I know - my Dex finally arrived today and my lovely Spigen case doesn't work with it. I don't want to have to remove the case every time I use Dex - is there an answer that still protects my Note??
I use something like this and it works well. Though the one I've put here isn't an exact match to mine, it is very cheap so if it doesn't work 100% you haven't lost much.
Go to Amazon and search for "Spigen Essential CA310". It will make almost any case compatible with the Dex station.
You're more than welcome.
My pitaka case works fine with the dex, wireless charging, nfc, and mag mounts.
Also, if you don't already have the Samsung Dex, look at the Smos Dex, much more case friendly.
Get a USB-C extender! That's what I got and I can keep my current case...
https://www. amazon .com/gp/product/B01HRIDPOA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
my spigen plugs right into dex and wirelessly charges every night just fine
What Spigen case are you using please? I'm switching between a few Spigen cases currently and have yet to try out dex.

how about modifying the Dex?
there are two small raided ridges on either side of the USB C plug on the dex.. do you think *carefully* removing those would make most cases work?

Getting a Note 9 soon: Recommend screen protector and case?

Hey all,
I'm getting a Note 9 soon here. I'm looking for recommendations on screen protectors and whether I should get a case for it. Ideally if I did get a case I'd want something as thin and unobtrusive as possible. I'm generally pretty good with phone and haven't cracked a screen on one yet, but I've also tried to be safe with them. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Hi Do you live in a country where you can make purchases from Amazon? I am not avoiding the question its just that there is a plethora of cases ranging from Samsung's own, that I use, to others from very well known manufacturers. With regard to a screen saver since Samsung went curved screen I have not been able to find a decent screen protector. I just don't bother.

Yeah, I'm in the US, so Amazon is the likely source.
I purchased the Amovo case:
https://www.amazon.com/Galaxy-Note-...898636&s=gateway&sprefix=amovo,aps,467&sr=8-3
Mainly because the brown one matches my Metallic Copper Note 9 perfectly. It fits the phone really well and all the holes on the bottom line up exactly as they should. Also has decent coverage around the corners.
I haven't used the wallet very much, but the magnet is very strong and holds the phone solidly in place. The magnet is in the wallet and the phone case has 2 metal strips running down each side. Should work in magnetic car holders. No issues with wireless charging.
I like the iCarez screen protectors:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FMW9Q2B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Lots of holes along the top, but they all lineup really nice. Gives good coverage on the screen and doesn't interfere with the case I'm using. Also, it covers the rounded edges perfectly (some don't and allow dust to get under the protector).
Hope this helps.
I would highly recommend that your purchase the case for your device first, before purchasing a screen protector. So that they will both be compatible with each other.
I've the UAG case from here
Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Cases by UAG- Rugged, Slim, & Lightweight – URBAN ARMOR GEAR
https://urbanarmorgear.com/products/plasma-series-galaxy-note-9-case
Been using it since the 1st week I got my note and it's been great! Also, dont know about screen protector as I dont have one. I've 1 designated pocket only for my phone and nothing else. My note 9 has ZERO surface scratches on the screen.
Anyone use the whitestone dome with a note 9? The thing looks impressive, but I'm a little worried about the cost and the "curing" process. Does it damage the screen if it needs to be removed/replaced later?
The Whitestone Dome TGSP has served both the wife and I very well. Since complain about "spidering" of the Loca glue. That has only showed up, after a drop for us.
There is a similar item, that is a bit cheaper on Amazon, that I've read good things about, that I may try next, if the need arises.
Roopose Galaxy Note 9 Screen Protector Tempered Glass,3D
I have seven cases for my Note 9.
UAG Monarch - I don't like the way it feels. It's nothing like the cases UAG originally made.
Spigen clear TPU - I forget the actual name, but it's the one that's flexible. I don't like it. TPU is not my thing any longer.
Spigen Tough Armor - (2) It is grippy and feels good in the hand, seems like it would provide decent drop protection, I just don't like the buttons. They are flush with the side of the case.
Rhinoshield Solid Suit - I use it for weekend or light duty day carry. It's a bit slippery, but is low profile and slides in and out of pocket easily. The volume bottoms are a bit difficult to operate.
Samsung Silicone Cover - It's very grippy, but because of this collects lint and hangs onto it. I would use this for light duty day carry if it weren't for lint and debris sticking to it. It's called "ocean blue" but does not match the ocean blue Note 9. It's more of a grey.
Samsung Rugged Protective Cover - I like this case. It's very grippy, without being tacky and seems like it would provide good drop protection. Some folks thin it's too heavy. It is a bit heavier than other cases, but if I'm not doing a side by side comparison I get used to it. I actually measured this and the Samsung Silicone Cover on the Note 9 on a kitchen scale and the difference was, with Samsung Silicone 8.75 oz
and with Samsung Rugged Protective Cover 9.55 Oz. I use this case for work day carry.

WIRELESS CHARGING
We have 2 wireless chargers, CHOETECH Wireless Charger, Qi Certified Wireless Charging Pad & AUKEY Wireless Charger Qi Certified, Fast Wireless Charging Pad with 10W, 7.5W and 5W Output Levels, both were tested with the following cases. All achieved fast charging with screen off only. What an odd limitation to purposely build in. I was testing in order to see if a wireless charging nav dock is an option, but with no fast charge with screen on, the idea is pointless.
UAG Monarch
Spigen Tough Armor
Spigen clear TPU (I forget the name, it's the one that's flexible)
Rhinoshield Solid Suit
Samsung Silicone Cover
Samsung Rugged Protective Cover
I have not measured each one for thickness but I did measure the Samsung Rugged Protective Cover, which I believe to be the thickest of this bunch. The thickness of the back is approximately 3.6mm.
I've read some Amazon sellers state that their wireless chargers will not work on cases thicker than 4mm.
ETA, since the sun has finally appeared, here in the Pacific Northwest, I have noticed several small scratches on the Whitestone Dome Glass. It's been on my Note 9 for nine months. I don't think I ever noticed as many of any scratches on TGSPs I've used on previous phones.
Spigen Neo Hybrid and Whitestone Dome have been great for me!
stock plastic flip case, the cover can show LED time.
I would probably go for a force case and force glass since they are lifetime guaranteed and not too bulky.
Or a customized toast made one if I come across a nice idea.

Do you have links for force case and force glass?
What is customized toast?
Is that like Cylon toast?
I don't use a screen protector, don't think I really need one. Case, I have a ZeroLemon 10,000. Here are the downsides of the case, though:
No battery calibration - Once your phone battery runs low, you use the case as an external charger. I think this is all battery cases, though since you can't remove the battery and replace it with a larger one. I can go about 3 days without plugging my phone into the wall, though.
No DEX support - Remove the case for this
File Transfer is finicky - Remove the case for this
I haven't tried, but I heard it doesn't support NFC
No Fast Charging support
It's Heavy and Bulky!
The only reason I use it is because of the battery life, and I keep my phone in a bag, anyways. This case will more likely NOT fit in your pants pocket.
Oh, and also, I have large hands. It actually feels great to hold in comparison to just the phone. So, if you have large hands, that'd be another plus, as well.
im using the seidio surface case with holster and the whitestone dome tempered class screen protector.
not cheap but the results are nice.
