Full unroot fails - SuperSU

Now that I want to update my Moto X Play via OTA from 6.0 to 6.0.1, I wanted to use my standard procedure: deactivate adaway, full unroot, do OTA.
Problem is that unroot fails. A simple message "deactivate root failed" (or similar, my message is German) with an ok button appears.
I rooted using SuperSU 2.62-3 and updated the app and binaries to official 2.65. Had a flashify backup with only 2.62-3, but there unroot also did not work. Is there an easy way to make unroot work? Can I do any logfiles to analyze the problem unroot has?

[Q] Temporary Unroot became permanent?

How is temporary unroot supposed to work? I tried to temporarily unroot my Note 3 (rooted with towelroot) and I figured after I rebooted I could open the SuperSU app and reenable it. But it says there is no Su binary installed. When I click OK the app closes. I can't ever deactivate the temporary unroot.
I've looked EVERYWHERE to see if I'm missing something but there are ABSOLUTELY ZERO instructions on how to temporarily unroot then reactivate the reroot.
Hello? Is anybody there? No help for this problem?
This problem should be fixed in the latest SuperSU version. You will have to re-root and update to the latest.

[Q] SuperSU reinstalls itself after reboot (after full unroot).

When I purchased my Droid Maxx it was running 4.2.2 and I used the PIE exploit to root it. At the time, I didn't realize that allowing the 4.4.4 OTA update would completely frag the root so I took it. Now, on 4.4.4 I of course have very buggy and inconsistent root access. So, I decided to just unroot and forget about it for this phone. To that end, I ran a full unroot from SuperSU and the app disappeared. Great...until I rebooted and it came back. I went back into the app, disabled it via the app settings, full unroot again, and again the app reappears on reboot. I can't delete the apk from the System folder because even with SuperSU enabled it won't grant me write access (see above: root fragged). So what the hell am I supposed to do? The phone is essentially unrooted, but on every reboot, regardless of unroot attempts, SuperSU reinstalls itself.
Any ideas on how to get rid of it?
Either root it properly and use that to remove it, or reflash your full stock firmware.

Will the latest Update lose my root access?

I just picked up a used T817T yesterday. I was able to root it with Kingroot. I then found out that I lose root after a reboot. Even worse, without enabling the developer options and enabling the OEM unlock, it would no longer boot. I had to reflash the stock ROM with ODIN to recover.
I purchased and installed SuperSu Me-Pro and that replaced the Kingroot SU with SuperSu. Now I can reboot without losing root.
I'm being prompted to install an update T817TUVS2APB1/T817TTMB2APB1/T817TUVS2APB1. If I install this update, will I lose root? If I install it, can I still root with other methods?
I still have the stock recovery.
I'm currently on T817TUVS2AOL1.
I decided to roll the dice and try the update. I got a message that the software on my device was altered in an unapproved way and that it would not update. At least the nagging icon on the top of the screen is now gone.

Lost root | SuperSU | There is no SU binary | MM 6.0.1 | Note 5 SM-N920C

06.06.2016
Hey,
I have Note 5 SM-N920C MM 6.0.1
Lost my root today after 4 week of that I using it (apps like "Titanium backup" and "Uninstall" doesn't work)
when you get into SuperSU I get the flowing massage
"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it. This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 5.0 [***ANY ANDROID VERSION***] , you need to manually re-root. [OK]"
I try to install SuperSU from google play again and I run into the exact same situation as before.
Checked it with Root Checker "sorry root access is not properly installed on the device"
Tried to re-root it with Kingo root (for the 1st time) getting "Root Failed"
If you have any ideas what to do I would be happy for your ideas
(I pretty new to it, it's my 1st android device had iPhone 2/4/4s/5 before )
Happened to me today as well. Xposed claimed there is a module update (although the only module I had is lucky patcher, and that wasn't updated). After a reboot, I lost root access and custom recovery...
Happened to me since a week ago... Anyone has any fix available for this?? Please help..
I have same issue
I was trying to re-root:
Flash stock system.img (june security update)
Flash stock boot.img (june security update)
Flash supersu
Flash elementalX
No profit ☹
I’m using:
twrp-2.8.6.0-shamu
ElementalX-N6-3.16
Systemless supersu 2.74 ( on I have 2.65 same issue)

You need to root
Frist flash recovery custom example TWRP next flash file zip application su 2.74-2 in TWRP ...
This happened to me too. I followed the procedure New Root Method For 5.1.1 w/o custom kernel. It worked for 3 weeks, and then without warning root was gone. Exactly same behavior as OP.
I Flashed SuperSU again from TWRP recovery, and have root again. But I want to understand why this happened so I can prevent it. I don't get OTA updates, and automatic updates are disabled. What could "break" the systemless root without causing a request I would have to allow? I have three applications enabled for root in SuperSU Pro: Adblock Plus, EX FIle Explorer Pro, and Titanium Backup.
Hey,
I have the same pb with GN4 6.01
i fix it with super su 2.68 with twrp-3.0.2-0-trltexx.img, clean dalvik cache et cache
reboot
open su and go update binarie on google play. (update 2.76 stable)
Test du su avec ESexplorer
It 's work

I lost root as well! Im on note 5 6.0.1. I had been doing fine until I flashed the nexus launcher. The launcher flashed properly but lost root after that. Ive tried to re-root again and I cant because 1. I lost TWRP! 2. My pc wont read my phone even though I installed and unistalled the samsung drivers over and over. When I install the drivers it initially works but once I turn my phone off it wont work again! Anyone know how to fix it!?

I have OEM non-rooted phone with original 4.4.4 Android.

1.non root method
If you dont want to root You can download "package disabler pro" app ftom playstore and disable "software update" from apps list.
2.Root method
Root your phone and install titanium backup app from playstore then from titanium backup app search in app list "software update" click on it and hit freeze.
For root you can use kingroot app since you are on kitkat or Twrp recovery+supersu method.
Hope this wil help.
Thanks! #1 worked like charm

Not only the "Software Update" but also the "System Update" (in some ROMS like the Jasmine 3).
Also, you want to delete the 400M update file /cache/fota/update.zip
Why dont you want to uodate?
I just picked up a t-mobile note 4. Currently on EPG2 baeband, Should I be concerned with firmware updates?
