(Q) Restoring HTC M7 back to Rogers Stock. - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I have acquired a Rogers M7 that powers on but then just sits at a blank screen after boot. I can access fastboot and als flashed twrp recovery, I m on OS version 7.17.631.7 lollipop I believe, it is S-ON , HBOOT 1.61, I unlocked the bootloader using the HTCDEV.
I have tried to getting it past the blank screen by using the latest RUU I could find, 4.19.631.9 but that did not work, I think cause the s-on will not allow a downgrade, I also tried using the One_All-In-One_Kit_v3.1 to side load a zip but same problem, fails verification. I have also tried a nandroid back by copying it to the internal memory but still not working.
Can anyone help me fix this phone so it can be usable again? or provide me with an RUU that will work.
Thanks

Right, you can't downgrade when S-ON. Relock your bootloader and flash the 7.17.631.7 RUU
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/general/lollipop-ruu-zip-small-collection-t3053944
I would also recommend that you stop using toolkits and learn to use adb and fastboot directly from a command window. These tools are not up-to-date and will most likely cause some issues.

thanks

If you have already used adb then you won't have any difficulty using fastboot, it's basically the same thing and the commands to flash the ruu are posted in the link above. Just don't forget to use the fastboot version from that thread or it won't work.

Help, Back to stock for repair, cracking me up aarghhhhhh

Hi guys i knew the ins and out of my galaxy S3, but need help with my htc one
I know this is a big ask but having a real bad time trying to get this sorted, but need to get back to stock for new digitizer replacement.
i am running ARHD 11 with unlocked bootloader S-off, latest firmware. and twrp on my UK HTC_001
Is there a full guide to get me back to stock, as i have trawled through the forum and have about 10 tabs with various information but its getting to confusing as to what to do first with out bricking my phone.
i tried to do my stock nandroid backup first but that gave me no touchscreen function, not sure if that's because i have updated to the latest firmware, so had to flash ARHD back to get touchscreen function agian.
i then relocked the bootloader and that wiped my phone so had no system to boot into just cwm recovery. Tried to sideload rom but that didn't work adb error closed.
then i fastboot flash twrp, and then usb otg flashed arhd 11 from usb stick, working agian.
this is doing my head in, been at this for 3 days and getting nowhere
in what order do i go about this to get to full stock without bricking
need to be S-on
locked bootloader
revone locked not relocked
stock uk HTC_001 unbranded rom
unroot.
Big thanks in advance guys if you can help.
You should be able to install a 401 RUU and then
./revone -l
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
thanks benpope, need a bit more of a guide dude,
not sure what RUU i need, my phone is uk unbranded htc_001
do i fastboot the RUU rom?
revone-l , is to turn relocked to locked i guess
thanks

I would gain S-off and unlock bootloader again then flash this RUU in fastboot
http://bugsylawson.com/files/file/1...13323127-1031113105-release-310878-signedexe/
RUU (ROM Update Utility)
Connect your device to the PC
Open/run the RUU and follow on screen instructions.
Set up your phone once it reboots then check for software update and you should get the 1.29.401.12 update.
When you have installed the update you can use revone to set S-on and lock your bootloader.
./revone -l
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
This is what I did and it worked for me.

If i were you i would write superCID from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317536. leave S-Off as it is and only lock the bootloader and then just flash the latest WWE RUU and you`re done. Unless you have a problem with your phone and need to turn it in for repair.
Cheers guys will give it a go in the morning, on nightshift at the mo

I have a zip you can flash which will fully hard brick your phone with no chance of HTC recovery if you need it, will probably result in a new phone and not just a new touchscreen.

Man, that's dark.
Is this confirmed? Has anybody flashed this, then sent their phone for warranty repair?
My phone, as far as I could tell was hard bricked (AOSP), but HTC was able to pull up my bootloader to tell me they were gonna need $200 to replace my main board.
It has been confirmed as it was initially flashed accidentally by someone. However, I won't be sharing the link as I feel it isn't morally right to do it

[Q] Bricked and RUU doesn't change anything

So I have bricked my phone and all I want is to go back to stock. I have tried flashing OMJ's 3.04.651.2 firmware through fastboot and it completes it successfully... so it says. When I proceed to reboot, I am yet again taken to the HTC screen, the screen then goes black, after a while the screen shows an HTC one with a red triangle in it. I am desperite, please help!
Relocked

Recently I was working on returning my phone back to stock and I ended up using OMJ's encrypted 1.29.651.7 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250904). However, in order to flash an older ruu successfully I also had to trick the phone into believing that an older version was installed. I did it using dd through adb, but I can't find the thread with the info so I'll try to find that.
ok, so here's what I did:
first, I downloaded the encrypted 1.29.651.7 ruu
then, I used this trick to change the version recorded in the phone (I think I had to be root, but I don't remember) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2390821
I substituted 1.29.651.7 for the 1.29.651.10 shown in the link
then I relocked the bootloader and flashed the ruu according to the return to stock instructions.
Hopefully this helps you work it out, I'm not sure how much this will help you but it worked for me.

This didn't do it either. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME
I don't know if you can flash OMJ's firmware if your bootloader is set to "Relocked". I could be wrong but I think what you need to do is unlock it again first and install a recovery. Then flash OMJ's stock firmware from recovery. From there you can probably do the S-OFF process and RUU back to stock.
You do need to be able to boot into your ROM for S-OFF to work, as you start the S-OFF process while the phone is booted up and running.

[Q] HTC ONE bootloop, no recovery, wrong CID, S-ON

Hi Guys,
1 month ago I chaged my HTC ONE into Google Play Edition. Then Yesterday I wanted to get it to stock sense.
What I did:
*) restore CID to HTC__032 (do not know if it is right CID, network: P4 play for Poland)
*) restore stock via TWRP
*) downgrade bootloader from 1.54 to 1.44
*) locked (reveone)
*) S-On
Now, my phone got always bootoader with a msg: "Security Warrinig"
Canno go to recovery - phone always reboots. System doesn't start.
I'm assuming that to repair my phone the first thing I have to do is S-OFF. I cannot do this via HTCDEV unlock file, every time when i fire "fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin"
file is successfully sent and that's all. "Swipe - unlock" screen doesn't appear. As we know ADB PUSH won't work in fastboot mode.
How I can transfer reveone file into internal storage to get my phone s-Off again and corretley flash a bootloader (1.54)?
Regards.

so let me get this straight:
1- S-On
2- LOCKED
3- No functioning ROM
if yes, you're pretty much stuck
did you get a new unlocktoken from HTCdev or are you using the old one. try registering a new account with HTCdev and get a new unlock file.

yes, I have tried - no success.
At first, the HTC Dev Unlock does NOT give you S-Off. It just unlocks your bootloader. And why did you change your CID if you didnt know if it was the right one? Google will help you to find the right one.
In case this IS the right one, I dont think you need S-Off as you're able to flash a new Recovery without S-Off. Try HTC aio Tool for example or via adb/fastboot flash. If this worked you'll be able to flash a new firmware.
Good Luck

Thank's for all your responses.
So:
@nkk71 - tried with new account - still no success.
@Frask3r - as long as I'm not able to run anything except bootloader: adb commant won't work(no way to perform push), fastboot only works.
@polariscon - I wanted to flash my googles' bootloader with the orginal one from HTC, so I flashed via fastboot.
I can confirm that CID is correct one HTC__032. I do not know if it will help.

oh I just saw you downgraded to 1.44, try an RUU (windows exe) from here: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/

Hello.
I need help to fix my htc one.
I did delete everything on my internal sdcard. Cause i want to make it as new to give it to my girlfriend. But when i did that. Its stopped working. I've tried to use all in one kit by squabbi. But it won't work to change boot or anything. Maybe i did smt wrong.
When i turn on my htc one. Its stuck in boot. White screen with htc logo on it. I cant even turn it off again. I have to wait when the battery its empty. And then i can turn it on to fastboot. Before all that. I came into recovery and then its stands no OS on the phone.
But after i yried to fix it by myself then it will not be able to even touch the recovery. I push the screen, but nothing happend. I think i did it worse or smt. Pleas help if somebody can. It would be great.

After reading OP i think you have many things mixed up so plz clarify
What happens when you try to boot into recovery...if its stock recovery it takes some time for red triangle to appear.
Which "swipe-unlock" screen are you talking about in unlocking bootloader.
When using RUU zip try more than once sometimes it takes 2 - 3 tries to work

But you can still boot into hboot so it might not be all lost
When was the last time you able to boot normally (after each steps you mentioned in OP)
I'm Sorry for answering so late. My phone just came back from "local" GSM repair center.
So what they done?
They destroyed my back cover and using JTAG changed cid to: HTC_02_2 and version-main to 1.00.000.00
and they told me that I'm not able to flash my phone with any current ROM version because I have to wait for
the latest one.
I have tried to update my phone with RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_Radio_4A.13.3227.06_10.27.1127.01_release_308001_signed_2_4.exe on my own.
I changed my cid in android-info.txt but after "signatures checking" step i received error msg no 131 (customer id)
Now I'm wondering, if I will procceed with below steps:
*) change cid to: 11111111 (using JTAG)
*) still s-on (i cannot change it - bootloop)
*) bootloader locked
are there any chances to make it works again?
Cheers
Robert
Can you unlock bootloader, flash custom recovery, root, and install a custom rom?
Then S-Off, and move to a HTC__001 based International HTC One RUU file.
What is your hboot version? or fastboot getvar all output?

Btw is there any known wifi problem with the First? Mine just came from america yesterday and the phone wasn't locating any access points. I thought rooting it and flashing another ROM might work for it but unfortunately it didnt
Actually I'm also having trouble flashing stock unrooted rom , could you point me in the right direction?

You usually have to run a factory reset, cache/dalvik cache wipe before you flash roms. I get that wifi problem sometimes when trying to flash a rom before wiping.

DUDE QUICK THING ! you can't flash any roms in till you RELOCK THE BOOTLOADER ! I know it sounds weird but trust me you will keep the S-off status (assuming you have s-off) and everything works fine, I couldn't flash any roms in till I relocked and I heard others have this problem too.
Now the WiFi problem, if factory resetting doesn't work, try flashing the stock rooted ROM around these threads, if that doesn't work try JMZ's kernel, and if that doesn't work then you have a hardware problem, good luck.

If he just RUU's it he won't have to worry about relocking his boot loader, he should just use titainium backup and ruu to save time.

Trust me I've tried RUU and even that didn't work for me, in till I relocked , it was weird but its worth a shot since relocking keeps the s-off anyways

I've tried it many times already it works, after you ruu it you just have to turn s-on before you try to unlock the boot loader again otherwise you'll get bootloop.

guys guys, you've lost me.
All I need to do is wipe away all traces of my rooting and bootloader unlocking etc as I'm returning it for warranty.
Now my First is rooted, custom recovery and s-off and unlocked .
I want it unrooted, s-on and boot loader locked.
Someone please guide me through the steps :/
btw im not a n00b, but this is my first HTC phone so I'm not too familiar with these ruu's and s-offs

Step 1. RUU your device
Step 2. After it reboots when it's done ruu'ing just start it and go through the set up.
Step 3. Turn on USB debugging mode.
Step 4. Turn on CMD on your PC then just follow the commands below
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot oem writecid xxxxxxxx (where xxxxxxxx is your stock CID.) Mines is CWS__001 on the HTC first I'm not sure if it's the same on all devices just check to see if yours it the same, if it is just use fastboot oem writecid CWS__001
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot getvar cid (It should say CWS__001 if that is your cid.)
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
fastboot reboot-bootloader
*verify you are locked s-on
fastboot reboot
And that's it, it is a extremely simple process lol, I've done it at least 20 times since I tend to ruu my device a lot off of S-OFF, when messing around with different roms.

So its okay if I flash the ruu by the second method as in this thread?
And will custom recovery be overwritten with stock recovery?
OK Update!
I was well on my way to relock,s-on my phone etc and here's what happened
 @Kendosis
 @SneakyGuyDavid
1) Sucessfully RUU'd
As it happened I didnt have my sim inserted and when I rebooted, the wifi was working! When I inserted the sim the wifi stopped working. I did some bit of research and it turns out it has something to do with wifi country codes. Apparently it can be fixed by this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fardjad.android.wifixmanager
2) Since the app required root, I was going to get root again.
(Flashing RUU gave me bootloader locked)
I unlocked and then flashed CWM
3) Since I had no roms on my phone storage and the CWM doesnt mount storage, I had to sideload the ROMS.
4) No matter which roms I flashed, I was stuck in a bootloop. I relocked and tried flashing again but I was again stuck in a bootloop. CWM works fine though.
Current status: Bootloader Locked, S-off.
What do I do to fix this bootloop :/
@dramon
I told you to s-on after you ruu first otherwise you get boot loop lol.
Now RUU again and right after don't install nothing just start up the phone and turn usb debugging on and follow the steps to S-ON.

also sideload sucks ass, if you flash TWRP then you can run adb from it and use adb push, so in cmd you would run " adb push
ROMZIPNAME.ZIP /sdcard "
Thanks guys, I now have an idea of how the rooting and unlocking works for HTC (Y)

Restore to Stock

I have a (sprint) H/K edition M8 running 4.4.2 rooted with TWRP recovery, s-on with 1.54.654.13 & SPCS-004. I wish to return to stock to get the Lollipop update and then return to root. Im at a loss as to what to do please help any advice is appreciated.
Check out the thread in the link below. Use the RUU for the HK Lollipop update. You'll need to relock your bootloader before running the RUU. After running the RUU you'll need to unlock your bootloader and reinstall TWRP. You can then flash a ROM.

Connect your phone to your computer. Run the command fastboot oem lock. That will relock your bootloader.
My adb isnt recognizing my phone, have the stock google drivers & htc drivers installed and ive tried with my phone both powered on and in fastboot. I believe there might be a driver issue but im not really sure

Try this to get the drivers sorted.
Ive already had that installed idk what could be going on
Not to hijack the thread but how do I put it back to 100% stock so I can do a warranty return? I am mostly talking about how to remove s-off. I figure I need to have it back to s-on to do the warranty return.

You have to make sure you install the drivers in recovery, bootloader, and OS
ADB = OS and recovery
Fastboot = hboot/fastbootusb.
The waiting for device might be that you are not in fastbootusb
bootloader says RELOCKED, attempting to run RUU...
successful update, thanks for the help guys. Is there any way to get my on screen buttons changed to the new shape and to root again?

You can install TWRP and root just like you were on any other update. Android version does not matter. Just make sure you unlock the bootloader again, you can use the same unlock token from HTC dev. Then you want to install recovery
Code:
fasboot flash recovery recovery.img
After that, from fastboot, boot into recovery and then reboot system. If you use a newer TWRP it will prompt you to install superSU.
