Melkco cases in hand and reviewed. - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Accessories

I was asked by the seller to review some cases for both the Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
I have received some of the cases and will be posting my reviews in one thread in both the S7 and S7 Edge forums to keep the information in one place and nice and neat.
They make quite a few cases for both the S7 and S7 Edge so my reviews of the case for one would apply to both versions of the phone.
Pictures will be in the "Click to show content" buttons to maintain a clean thread.
Melkco Ultra thin Superlim Soft TPU for Samsung GalaxyS7 Edge with screen protector (Transparent)
This case is unbelievably thin.
The thickness of this case for the S7 Edge is roughly the same as the distance the camera sticks out from the back of the phone.
I have never seen a case like this before.
The case is crystal clear and will show off the color of your phone, or like mine the dbrand skin on the back.
The case has a slight lip on the front at the top and bottom to prevent scratches on your screen should you lay your phone down screen first.
This case will not add much drop protection, it is to prevent scratches, please do not purchase this thinking it will save your phone from a drop, that is not what it was designed to do.
This case will protect your phone from any scratches and scuffs from the day to day use of your phone.
While doing that it will be basically invisible and add literally no bulk to your phone.
I will add some pictures here of this case on my Titanium Silver S7 Edge with Blue Carbon Fiber skin from dbrand.

Melkco Kubalt Double layer case for Samsung Galaxy S7
I received this case quickly and in good condition.
I purchased the black inner with black outer style case that does not seem to be an option right now.
This case could and should have been a five star case, there was really only one confusing issue with this case.
The top of the case the two cutouts are not quite right.
The cutout for the mic is made at an angle, and while it is placed over the mic, it looks out of place.
There is also an extra cutout in the center of the phone that is unneeded, like it was for an IR blaster that was never put into this version of the phone.
Other than that this is a nice case.
There is a nice soft touch coating over everything that makes this case feel great in hand.
The rest of the cutouts are all perfectly placed and sized.
The soft inner layer should be able to absorb shock from drops and the hard outer layer should be able to take the brunt of a fall.
There is a small lip on the front of the case to prevent you from getting scratches on your screen should you lay your phone down screen first.
If you are looking for a case with impact resistance, great feel in hand, and general protection, this one will do it all.
I will attach some pictures here for you to see this case on my black S7.

More cases are to come soon, I will update this post with new reviews within a week or so.

(Full Body Shield) vs (Screen Protector + Case)

I'm anticipating my next phone, the incredible, and I want to make sure I get my protective gear first.
So i don't end up with another broken phone (bye G1)
I am considering getting the Zagg full-body shield because I have a 50% off code.
Although I don't see a thin strip of plastic being very impact-resistant.
Pros: no added bulk, phone will look good, and no worries about the antenna strength being interfered with.
Also will fit nicer in the hand..
Cons: Might not work with an extended battery door. Could potentially feel worse in hand
Next option is to get a zagg/steinheil screen protector (or whatever is the best, since it's very difficult to decide)
Along with a case such as the Body Glove, or maybe a silicon case.
Pros: pretty much impact proof, maybe you prefer the bulk because it makes the phone fit in your hand better, also maybe the case just looks good
Cons: other than the obvious, it also may not fit into docks without removing the case first. Also, when I get an extended battery the case may no longer fit..
Possible cases below..
Body Glove (belt clip is removable and smooth cutout can be put to make the back smooth)
Also it gets rid of the unique back, if its not your style.

Amzer® Limited Edition Elite Leather Snap On Hard Case
Amzer® High Gloss TPU Skin Case
Amzer® Silicone Skin Jelly Case
Amzer® Rubberized Black Snap on Crystal Hard Case
There are plenty of other nice ones, I also liked this.

Please recommend a route, i'm all ears to any ideas.
As you said, do you want impact resistance? You laid everything out nicely for yourself, now decide what is right for you.
Right now, I'm using the VZW high gloss silicone case and a Steinheil Crystal Clear screen protector. Very happy with both. Have had the case since day 1 and tried several other SPs before I settled on the Steinheil.
Am considering the Seidio Combo case, but will probably stick with the Steinheil for now (I have one left!)
Good luck!
JC
I'm using a full body shield from BSE AND the black high gloss silicone case from VZW.
I like the BSE / ZAGG type screen protectors because they tend to self repair themselves if you scratch them. BSE all the way tho, I refuse to spend 20+ dollars on a skin.

[REVIEW] Incipio Feather + Zagg invisibleSHIELD reviews

Incipio Feather
- Claims to be less than 1mm thick
- Made from Polycarbonate
- Soft touch finish
- Comes in 4 different colours, this one is Iridescent Blue/Green
The Verdict
It's awesome. Extremely thin and very lightweight, this case makes the phone feel much more solid in the hand. The soft touch texture also takes away the 'slippyness' of the original back cover, and best of all, it doesn't add any more bulk to the phone. All the controls are cut out, so unlike some of the gel/TPU skins, you get to press the naked button rather than pushing it through the case, which is very nice. It fits perfectly snug and doesn't rattle around. Definitely my favourite case for my nexus and I definitely recommend it if you can find it for a reasonable price like I did.
Price: $17.95 CAD, from BlueShop (a canadian online smartphone accessory store thingy: http://www.blueshop.ca/incipio-feather-case-for-samsung-nexus-s-teal/)
Zagg invisibleSHIELD
- Claims to be military grade screen protection against anything from nails to keys
- Lifetime limited warranty
- Applied with liquid solution and rubber squeegee
The Verdict
The installation wasn't too difficult, although getting the actual screen protector off the paper backing proved challenging. Getting the thing on the actual screen was very easy, all you had to do was spray the actual protector with this liquid solution provided and then slide it into place. This actually worked way better than I thought, and I was able to position it perfectly. Once on a dried, the texture took a little getting used to as your finger definitely doesn't slide as nice as the naked screen. However, the protection you get, imo, is worth the price of the weird texture. Plus, unlike other screen protectors I've tried on this phone, the curved glass at the bottom and top of the screen near the bezel actually sticks down nicely, unlike the other ones that didn't stick to the curve and collected dust. Overall I think its a good thing to have on your screen, but the price can only be justified by the warranty- which fortunately I haven't had to use yet.
Price: $14.99 USD from Zagg's website (http://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield...es-screen-protectors-covers-skins-shields.php)

The case doesn't lift the Zagg at all?
I run a very similar set up on my NS4G save that I use the Best Skins Ever screen protector which seems to have a lot less "orange peel effect" (and the black Incipio Feather). My phone feels light and well protected. I especially love how the case keeps the screen (as well as the bezel) off of the tabletop surface when I put it face down.

Ringke SLIM

Hello, I have bought the Ringke SLIM (not arrived yet) because I want slim profile cases, do you know one as slim as this that covers top and bottom? I think that if I want top and bottom cover have to go for wider case as fusion or similar.

There are none that I know of that are this thin and also cover the top and bottom. Your next best bet would be something like the diztronic tpu. It's fairly thin and protects the entire backside, top, bottom, and has a small lip to lay it face down screenside. They're cheap as well. Only con (and a biggie for me)? They make your device look cheap
I bought the ringke slim for N4, and now for N5. Out of all the cases I tried, I stayed with it because it's hardly noticeable on the device. However, my N4 did drop .. ONCE and only once, and straight to the unprotected edge, which left ugly scarring on the silver border. Regardless, I still bought a ringke for N5.
But I also bought the Caseology Slim Fit case to see how slim it really is, if there is no much difference in them, I'll probably switch to Caseology.

Just saw that on Amazon. It's a comparison of case to the N5. For a slim case, that's quite the bit of "chunk".
I had the Ringke slim on my Nexus 4 and it held up pretty well actuallt even with the top and bottom exposed. Keep in mind that the case still covers the corners of the phone and will protect it from most falls. with that in mind don't count on the case to protect against all falls, I had a minor fall from about waist height and shattered my screen, prior to that it had been dropped about 6 or 7 times with no visible damage. That last time i think it landed on it's screen which is bad with any case, I have seen my brother break the screen on phones with otterboxes on them by landing on the screen.
Overall I would by the case again. It felt great and the white one I had on the black N4 looked great. I will likely by this case for my N5 when it arrives.

Case NILLKIN CamShield Armor Case Cover For Samsung Note 20 Ultra with Ring kickstand

Hi,
I just received this case from AliExpress, I paid around 10 USD:

I tested it for a few seconds, and it's the first positive thing happening about that phone.
Let's start with the bad:
If anything goes between the camera lens and the protection, it could be scratched (think a sand grain)
It's a bit strange how to slide that camera protection, and I touch the lens with my nail sometimes
The inside of the case, behind the ring, there is a tiny foam protection that seems thin.
Edit: added a significant "bad"- The case is like a "u" or like this: |_____| (thats the phone laying on the back, the vertical bars are the case sides; the horizontal bars are the screen). That means if it falls not flat, the screen could be the first contact point (and not the case, illustrated by the highest vertical bars). A difference would be like this: ====== (where the lower line is the screen and the higher line the case). Note: This is surely a design due to the screen itself which is rounded, and curved on the side of the phone itself. It's clear that it's a compromise to avoid blocking that beautiful aspect of the screen. It's also clear that doing that, it removes a bit of protection. I think it would have been a bad design to hide some side of the screen in order to protect it better... Or maybe would have been possible to make a transparent line there, to protect while still showing the screen?
The rest is great, it seems to even counteract the phone defect:
The ring kickstand, in addition to holding well, seems to balance the camera lens weight issue, that made me lose grip and tilt the phone down a few times in a few days of use
The grip is very good, no more slippery phone
The buttons are all working well
The slot for the pen is accessible decently, I can remove the pen without issue
The corner looks very hard rubber or plastic. I tested gently by hitting the table with them, it actually feels soft and seems to protect well
The packaging and box are suitable
Overall its looks made of some sort of plastic, and many of the "shapes" are made in some sort of softer, nice to touch and grip material.
It was super easy to put the phone in, it seems perfect grip and fit. Even now the phone feels securely inside.
Even now, with the case on, the phone on the table does no longer feels unbalance due to the bulge of the lens. It feels flat, and despite holding on the ring itself now, it looks more "stable" (remember, the bulge of the camera is not in the center of the phone, the ring of that case is).
It looks a perfect match and exactly what I was looking for!
The camera cover, due to the possibility of sand and nails, might be the only concern. Probably I could stick something to make it easier to slide on it.
i have the other nilkin with the camera cover and its great

Accessories Ringke Onyx for pixel 7 with "dual easy film" screen protector

I bought this case and screen protector from their official site. if anybody is going to get it, pay attention to the screen protector installation instructions. the screen protector, if applied correctly, is hardly noticeable. its smooth for the touch but if you scratch it with four fingers it creates a gouge that disappear after a while (depends on how deep the scratch is). i don't like it as much as i like glass protectors, but its better than nothing since i got the impression that the glass protectors are not playing nice with the fingerprint sensor. other than that it is a solid case as far as i can tell. i had a cheap clear TPU case until i recieved this case. the TPU case is so tough and big that the device felt like those anti tank rugged phones. the ringke is much more elegant and refined on the edges, i like it and recommend it. i had ringke on my nexus 4 and it was and still holding on without disintegrating in the test of time.

This is the case I ordered and I'm looking forward to getting it tomorrow, didn't get it with a screen protector tho. Hopefully it's a good case either way
ringke make awesome case, I been using them for years...I love their loop hole design for lanyard...cant beat it for 14 bucks
I ran that screen protector for like 2 days and it started to peel, fp reader didn't work with it either
Absolutely loving the case! So much grip! It also looks premium so that's nice too

i think if you are using it without case or with case that has almost no lips, then you might peel the protector from the swiping actions. Mine is still pristine for almost 2 weeks, with a ringke case obviously
Case looks ok, however I like better if there is all around extra lifting for protecting the screen. I am using Spigen Liquid Air, nothing special it protects. Using on P6 as well and already smashed the phone on concrete several times when felt out from pocket during riding motorbikes). Unfortunately, Speck does not make Presidio Grip case for Pixel 7 that would be my no 1 choice.
Screen protection: Reminds me for L&K protectors, but biggest downside that will pill up from sides (depends on case) over time. There are similar non glass protectors using GEL to stick properly to screen, those will not pill up easily. Got on P6 like that, and still holds after a year usage.
Possibly the best case for this device, bought off your recommendation and loving it. Why other cases not covering the camera visor the same exact way?....
Just ordered the case based on the reviews here and in the webpage. I also ordered the camera tempered glass protector. Currently, I have the Spigen rugged armor case and Spigen glass screen protector
