Has anyone had this problem of the status bar does not go down with the vertical mode screen on the Xperia Z3 compact? Only down after a long drag your finger on the screen, but the strange thing is that in landscape mode screen down normally. What can it be? Can someone help me?

are you sure the upper part of the touch screen is working properly? that was my problem and i don't recall dropping my phone too hard to mess up the touch screen....did factory reset and nope it was definitely the touchscreen
My already dropped some times, but there is nothing wrong in its outside and its functionality remains excellent taking this error now. And the status bar down the normal horizontally, so it's not the hardware. It's a software bug and also does little more than a year have the appliance. I've seen some reports of the same problem in the Xperia line on the Internet, just not speak the solution exactly. I took an original firmware and put one here too, I do not know if it has to do with the problem.
the top of the screen is the normal friend, as I said, the landscape mode screen functions normally, even when I'm playing a game, the problem is a software error, if the display hardware would have committed it all
Can I get rid of it, if I install any custom ROM?
It doesn't work... plz help me... my ph is sony xperia z3 model no: D6653
Anyone who cannot swipe down notifications or quick settings, due to a broken digitiser, can follow these instructions:
[emoji7]
Download 'All in one Gestures' app from the playstore.
Go to the 'SWIPE' tab.
Enable.
Under 'Edges' , select 'Top Area'.
Then via the apps settings, choose 'Personalization'.
Now under 'Swipe Area', go into 'Edge Preference.
Make 'Opacity' 0%
With 'Edge Sensitivity' start from 0% and keep moving the slide left until the swipe down works, mine is set at 90px.
'Edge Width' 100%
'Swipe Distance' 0%
Now under 'Touch Feedback' turn off both 'Toast Message' and 'Animation'.
Then turn down 'Vibration Intensity' to '0'
Done.
You now have the screen functioning as normal.

thank you guys!
Just an Idea... maybe its possible to set the Touchscreen sensitivity to VERY low everytime there is incoming Phone call. And then you cant accidentially press one of the onscreen buttons. However, i think registry entries only change after a softreset. MAybe there is some workaround?
this solution will affect the entire normal use of the diamond. :-(

it can't be so difficult.
I'm willing to pay the money saved in missed calls in one week. It could be a lot, for sure...

Well actually i meant it a different way. Imagine.. There is an incoming Call... This call is recognized, and the touch sensitivity is set to very low. After the call is done, or the call is taken, the sensitivity is restored..
yep... but i suggest this like a second try....
the easiest way is to create a new phone skin.
the best is a "only hw buttons" option
i can't believe to the drink beer app... useless but true... and nothing about this bug... it's incredible.
I would be satisfied to have ALL the hardware keys to be locked during incoming calls and the screen locked and need to unlock the screen with ie a slide before be able to answer... As the hardware buttons also is easy to press when it's in the pocket when your sitting etc.

I don't get it. My on/off button is set to lock all other buttons when the device is off, apparently meaning the display. At calls the display is off after a few seconds and I have two choices to bring it back - push the on/off or remove the stylo causing notes to launch. Hence the only insident where I can see a problem is when the display is trickered to go on (alarm or incoming call) and it's way down the bag you may push something. Here I suspect the solution is to have it in a pouch. Anyway, I have seen many yields about this so i'll surely be victimised one day as well.
Its a really challenging app to make.
Think about it. How can u lock the keys yet mantain the ability to answer anytime with one button.

No, touching the screen will not bring the screen ON, the only thing that will bring the screen ON is pressing a hard key.
It's an excellent idea to make the light sensor feel if it's in the dark, and if so shut down the screen, the only problem is that nobody knows how to reliably do this for all ROMs (even official).
Take a look here guys... already lots of posts on this

1 a new phone skin without any buttons is the easiest solution i guess
2 changing the sensibility pressure works only on soft reset
3 light sensor... nice, but i don't think it's the best way to do this
isn't a predefined "lock screen" function on the diamond?

Hello!
I have a weird error on my diamond 2 - I dropped it on the floor, so the touch screen got broke. I bought a new original one and replaced it as myself, which wasn't that difficult. The strange thing is that now when I move my finger up and down on touch screen the pointer moves side to side, and when i move finger from side to side the pointer goes up and down...? It's just like touch screen was rotated 90 degrees. Have tried to do a factory reset via a guide I found but it is still the same. Is it supposed to recalibrate the phone somehow?
Could this be a fysical connection error?
I tried to put cable in the other way but it was to short, and I can't figure out how to put it another than it is now. If i try to force it around 180 degrees it will be ripped off and break.
is your problem already solved? i replaced my cover as well. i think the connection ot digitizer is not pluged in correctly, it is not in the middle. it is also possible that your replacement is scrap

I tried to go maneuver via the menu but it was impossible. But I didn't give up and Google instead and found this - "You need to simultaneously hold down Volume Up and Volume Down on the side of the device, and while holding them both down, just tap the screen and it will go straight to the alignment screen."
This works and my screen is now aligned, but still I got it's 90 degree ccw rotated.
I forgot to mention that i have replaced digitizer two times - one before this one, reason was i thought first one was broken/faulty
Hi, I have a problem with my sony z3 compact, the notification dropdown dropsdown often with a very light tap.
It's so sensitive that the notification bar drops often by itself by tapping apps buttons which are at the top of the screen (back in gmail, whatsapp etc.)
Try it for yourself by tapping lightly at the base of the "o" on the sony logo.
is this a hardware fault with my unit or does your z3 compact do the same?

I made a video illustrating the issue:
http://youtu.be/YOXADb5NgPI
I suppose it is a software choice rather than a hardware one, however my samsung S4 and my old experia ray don't behave this way. You must slide the finger vertically over a portion of the screen to enable the notification dropdown, tapping would not automatically drop down the full notification screen. To me this sounds like a problem because it makes it hard to click buttons at the top of the screen most as of the time the damned notification menu drops down covering the whole screen.
I searched for an option under settings to change the notification settings but either I can't find it or there isn't anything to change it from tap to slide.
Regarding your question I'm not sure, I don't think so. The only issue I noticed (aside from the notification dropdown activated by tap (really annoying) is the camera:
If you set a lock option and unlock the phone by using the camera icon, and then you change the camera mode the phone locks itself again. Basically the 'unlock using the camera icon' let's you take pictures with the selected camera mode without unlocking the phone, but you still have to unlock the phone to use any other phone feature.

I'll need to check in the play store to see whether there are apps that let you change the way the notification bar is activated
It hasn't bothered me, so far.
Though I just checked on my Xperia Z2 Tablet and it doesn't behave that way on that one. Maybe the Z3C's touch screen is just too sensitive, as a side effect of the technology that makes the glove mode possible?

No it hasn't (but I need to pay more attention when using a single hand, will get back to you ). I tend to use two hands because, being the device so smooth I need to be careful and fight gravity quite a lot, I managed to almost drop it two times as it tends to slide from my hand

I have the same Problem with the sensitive notification menu... just lightliy tap anywhere close to it and it springs down and covers the whole screen. Coming from iOS where these things weren't even an issue, it's very annoying. It's currently the main reason why I want to try a different ROM.... Problem is I'm somehow unable to unlock my bootloader, and even then I'm not yet sure how to change the ROM. Damn, on iOS things were so simple... jailbreak tool, go to cydia, customise everything however I want....

Not sure if this will solve your problem, but you can check out All In One Gestures from the Play Store and activate tapping the status bar to do "nothing" by leaving it blank.
Edited: N/m, just tried it, didn't work. Still a useful app though! I'm using it for full immersive mode, so that's kind of another way to solve the status bar problem.

I gave it a go and it didn't work either, sony must do some lowerlevel tweaking to the notification bar.

Another sony dumb crap that I hate. It's so damn sensitive that it pulls down every time I use the phone to my ear. Sometime some quick settings activated and I had no idea wtf happened.
Dumb fuc.k sony is so annoying. Even my Z3C is rooted, I haven't found a way to disable this crap. Full of crapwares, cheap crappy glass and display, now this. Seriously all sony engineers and designers should just eat shi.t and die.
I thought I was alone in this. I've become fed up in call pull the phone away from my ear and it activates the pull down. Sigh.
Anyone else having problems with the sensitivity on fast scrolling? Seems to not be as smooth or compared to the iPhone 6 and HTC One M8 I have been playing with...It's almost too sensitive or something, I can't quite put my finger on it.

There is an earlier topic about it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-compact/help/swipe-issues-t2888154
The phone has an extra-sensitive touch screen because it has a "glove mode", and I'm thinking the effect of the technology for that glove mode isn't completely suppressed when the glove mode is disabled, so the touch screen would still be slightly more sensitive than those of other phones, even when glove mode is disabled.
If glove mode is enabled, the touch screen is so incredibly sensitive that without gloves, it will register a touch when you hover your finger about a millimetre above the touch screen.
I found that for me it helps to use "lighter" and shorter swipes. Also after a swipe lifting my finger a bit higher off the screen than I was used to.
Some people might always have been doing shorter and lighter swipes, hence not everyone is experiencing the problem. It's also been said on the Xperia support forum that not all units use the same glass for the front; some use "gorilla glass", others use "dragontrail" glass. That could also be influencing the touch screen sensitivity/behaviour.
I've adjusted my swiping habits relatively quickly and now I get the bounce back effect only once in a while.
I do hope that Sony comes with a firmware fix to compensate for the over-sensitivity though.

Go into developer options and enable "Show touches", perhaps touch the screen a few times then turn off show touches.
Sorts it out for me! I was having a nightmare swiping down to select words in Fleksy.
This workaround will do for me until Sony fix it properly!

I really wish there was a way to turn down the sensitivity. During typing, I frequently have screen presses register as very short swipes, which is incredibly irritating, as I then have to backspace and delete two words.

Touch screens usually respond to metal. The screen of my Z2 tablet does.
My screen is so sensitive I can operate it using my leg... through the pocket. I saw in Z1 and Z2 threads that there is a config file that can be adjusted, however I'd have to root in order to do that, and I don't want to risk losing my warranty (esp. not when reading about glass breaking by itself).
It's not a massive problem -- all it takes is switching off "double tap to wake" and camera launch button. But those are features that are useful. On the other hand, having my phone suddenly switch Torch on, call a random person in my phonebook or reorder icons on the launcher desktop isn't all that exciting either -- not a fan of surprises.
Has anyone else found the Z3 Compact screen too sensitive? (Glove mode is off, obviously.)

On my previous phone (xperia acro s) it often happened that my leg messed with the phone when the screen went on for the alarm going off in my pocket. It was really annoying. I was always afraid that some important settings changed without knowing it.
My screen is so sensitive that I the last couple of weeks only have managed to send a few sms without having to delete several words that are written wrong...!
The speeddialer is also terrible and often leads to wrong contacts...
This phone is by far the worst phone I have ever had regarding these issues!
Is this a sign of a faulty phone or can you relate to these problems as well?
Is there a solution???
My speed dial wasn't working out of the box. Had to make a factory reset, that fixed it. Sensitivity isn't interfering with my writing though. My previous phone was a bit bigger so I had to get used to writing on a smaller keyboard. But why would touchscreen sensitivity be an issue when writing anyway? Are you using a swipe keyboard?
No I'm just using it out of the box settings...? I can see swipe is enabeled but I text normal... I have had to disable autocorrecting words when I write... It is really strange... I have had many different smartphones over the last 15 years and this is by far the most responsive ever tending to be useless because of the many mistakes I make during calls and sms...
I never had any issues what so ever with my M7...?
I have just disabled "motioninput" (roughly translated from danish...) under Xperia-texting and this seems to have helped alot!!!
I'm on the same boat - it's too sensitive compared to my m8. Hoping for update to fix it
You really should try to do what I did and disable motioninput! It really helps ??

You mean using the gesture settings, when you swipe from the bottom it will not go home (takes multiple tries)? If so, do you have a case or screen protector installed? The way you're supposed to swipe is pretty much from outside of the actual display, upwards, so if there is something interfering with this, or you're swiping from in the display, it may not work.
If not, then try using a touch screen test app such as Touch Screen Test from Google Play (developed by Siriuth). Touch the bottom area multiple times (swipe down, left, right, but not up as this may send you to the home screen of course). Swipe slowly to see the path properly. Does it skip at any section? If it does, touch in that area may be damaged. If this phone was purchased used or from a 3rd party seller, this may be why it is damaged.

Just tried it... Everything seems fine. But still sometimes it tends to require several tries for the gesture to actually register. I'm on global 10.2.3.0, could be a miui bug since this version is not the best. Also has battery drain problems. Could be fixed in the next update.

That's very odd. Does the oleophobic coating in that area feel worn or anything? Does the friction feel high? Mine never fails, not even to open the multitasker. Do you have "Double Check for Gestures" enabled? Try turning this off perhaps? The battery drain I definitely agree. I went from 7 hrs of SOT to less than 5.
