[Q] Google live cases, anyone have one? - Nexus 5X Accessories

Tried searching and didn't see a thread. Does anyone have a Google live case, or has anyone ordered one? Basically a customized case for $35. You can also install the live case app and it will do some kind of android home screen wallpaper wrapping trick that matches the case.
Photos live case - upload a photo to make a case
Places live case - use stylized google map to make a map case
Reading reddit it seems like some people are getting nixed when they upload a photo due to copyright claims. I'm looking at the map cases, they look pretty sweet, not sure I want to drop $35 on a case I might not like, though.
EDIT - I also wish there was an option to have "Nexus" printed somewhere on the back of the case, like maybe in subtle white/black font along the bottom.

I have one. Just came in the mail 2 days ago. It actually fits pretty well, I prefer it to the Ringke Slim I was using. The print looks great. Not sure how well it will stand up to wear, only time will tell. The NFC button is pretty hard to activate, so i just gave up on that. If you have the extra cash and want a unique case I'd say its worth it.

$35 for a case its a little bit expensive, they should down the price, specially to the adopted cases.

If you are using the photo case - just add the "Nexus" (or whatever) text to your image before uploading

[Q] make a regular case into a stand...anyone try it?

I have been looking for a case for my new nook color (yay for my kids getting it for mother's day!) and haven't been able to find exactly what I want.
I want one that has a stand that can work vertical and horizantal but I still want it to be a book form that is pretty. I also can't spend more than $35.
After looking at a lot of stand cases and regular cases...I was just thinking...what if I attached a stand (even from a cheap frame or something) to the inside flap of a really cute regular book style case.
As I've just had it for a few days and spent the first few getting it setup, I haven't seen if this is something anyone else has tried...has anyone tried and posted results??
I really am thinking about trying this but would feel a lot better about getting the regular case and messing with it if someone else has tried and succeeded before
thoughts? do you think it would work? suggestions? thank you!!!
i purchased a package from amazon that included a case that fits exactly what your saying. It looks like a small book and can stand vertical or horizontal. Just type in "crazyondigital nook color" on amazon and it pulls up the case and package. Its super cheap and ive been thoroughly impressed with the quality since i paid about 25 dollars for a whole package of accessories. Anyways good luck finding a case.

Simple Silicone Case

Hey,
I am always really good with my devices (never really drop em, never scratch em) and what I usually do on my phones is put on a simple silicone case on them and that keeps it safe from scuffs and stuff
Ive been looking around the internet, amazon, ebay, etc trying to find a simple black silicone case for the nexus 7.
I found this http://www.focalcase.com/google-nexus-7-cases-google-nexus-7-silicone-case-c-199_205.html but I'm not familiar with the site and id rather not buy from china (takes a long time)
I understand that these things usually take some time because they have to be molded from the device, etc but i was wondering if anyone has found a legit place on the internet (not some random website) selling these.
If not, i'll update this post when i do find a place and order from there.

From Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/KaysCase-X-Shape-Google-Tablet-Android/dp/B008GFHP5O/
Picture doesn't show cutouts for buttons or speakers, but the description says they're there. Maybe just contact them if you're interested and confirm that the appropriate cutouts are there. I have not purchased it, just offering it up as an option. Oh, and it's black, as requested.

Does such a case exist?

I've been looking for a case that probably what most people want (sleek design, light, comfortable). I'm looking for a case made of metal, something sturdy, that seals in some way, has a built in keyboard that is actually worth a damn (bluetooth or wired, either is fine). The closest example I could think of would be something akin to an Aluma-wallet, but holding the device in without obscuring the screen. And a kickstand.
Does any such case exist or am I stuck doing some welding? Every case I see is too classy or just doesn't work for me.
case
I am a new user and therefore cannot post external link to the product I have purchased. It is not metal I hear but the same material the N7 is made of. Am expecting this next week and purchase after reading about it on xda and seeing a YouTube video on it.
Search Amazon for IVSO® Wireless Bluetooth Keyboard Case For Google Nexus 7 Tablet (BLACK Keys).
Happy to write a few lines of review if it helps.
Have you taken a look here? There's a pretty extensive database right there.

Yes, unfortunately I didn't see anything that struck me. The closest I found would be the carbon fiber case.

If I found the right thing, the reviews aren't very positive... saying the keyboard feels a little flimsy/breaks easily.

I put a short few lines on my impression of the IVSO case here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38130820#post38130820. I don't agree that the keyboard feels flimsy. In fact the opposite. Hope this helps.

REVIEW 2 custom photo cases for the note 2 with video slideshow

Today we’re looking at the two custom cases for the Galaxy Note 2.
Click here for the full review with clickable links and where to buy
First, a very basic thin plastic case from Casetagram. Casetagram, as you've no doubt figured out by now, involves your social media in the design process. Another case from Case-Custom is thicker hard glossy plastic and it has almost squared off sides that turn the Note 2 into an almost iPhone shaped smartphone. They'll both take about 1 month from the time you order them unless you select expedited shipping which will cut that time in half. While they are the same thing in theory, these two products are different on just about every level, read on.

Casetagram case $39.99
Pros: Great if you're social, very thin case, decent printing, layouts and effects are unique to customizing sites, case design app available for iOS
Cons: a bit expensive for what you get, no Android design app
A very thin, lightweight case that is made of a clear white or clear dark plastic. It's thin enough that it should still fit in some custom molded note 2 docks. Either color you decide to design on, you'll be able to see through to the back of your phone if you pick a design that leaves empty negative space. I personally can see the “Galaxy Note 2” logo and ugly “Verizon” logo and huge “4g” graphic through the cracks in my photo collage. If you read this site frequently, you know how I feel about Verizon, the fact that I can't cover up their graffiti makes me angry. I don't see the benefit of the negative space being clear when you're designing a cover to “cover” your phone. To be fair, the design tool on the website does clearly show you that the negative space will be see through. It shows the international back plate on the phone though without all of the Verizon clutter on it so you don't notice it while designing.
The only way to avoid negative space showing is to select the “single” layout which is one full sized picture across the back of the device. The problem with that is it doesn't really accommodate full pictures. Any Instagram picture that you insert is automatically 72% below the recommended resolution (the site never says what the recommended resolution is?) This becomes a guessing game that isn't very easy, It took me a half hour of resizing, uploading, and selecting pictures until I had a picture that supposedly fit in full sized design mode. Even then, when I was said to be within the recommended resolution, I still received a low resolution warning on the screen even though the picture looked fine. It isn't made clear anywhere on the site but in order to edit or move your image once it's placed, you have to double click on the working image of your designed phone. You are then given a crude set of tools to re-size and move your image. In trying to re-size the picture, the cursor would go out of the borders of the web page numerous times and it became quite frustrating to finish.
Things become almost humorous when you realize that Casetagram, which is a name derived from Instagram, offers it's own filters which they call “effects.” What this ends up meaning is that you can take a filtered instagram picture and re-filter over your initial filter. If you've always wanted to double sepia all of your photos and you didn't know how, problem solved.
They offer cases for Apple smartphones and tablets, the Galaxy smartphone line, and the nexus 4 currently.
Case-Custom case $32.99
Pros: thicker printing, thicker case for better protection, unique squared off sides, relatively cheap
Cons: difficult to communicate with customer service if you have to, buttons can be hard to press in recessed cutouts
This is a thicker case, but in a substantial kind of way. It feels stronger and fits in the hand better in my opinion. It's unique straight sides give it a modern look but also make it easier to grab. Samsung and others design phones to better slip out of your hand. They want your phone broken so you're lining up to get a new one as soon as possible. Why do we put up with this? My old Motorola Droid X was perfect, a rubberized metal exterior that felt solid and stayed in your hand. This case is very glossy, but the design of the sides makes it feel secure in my hand. For those of you that love the clean simple design of the iPhone but hate Apple's controlling grip on software, this gets you a little closer to the look you love.
Case-custom has a much fuller selection next to casetagram. They offer options for most any current smartphone and many tablets besides just the iPad. They also offer custom designed leather case options and for the Galaxy Smartphones that means flip cases. Custom printed leather flip cases are something I've never seen available, I'm in the process of trying to get one for review so hopefully I can answer some questions. I don't know how sturdy the actual cover is, whether they've added an NFC chip to the cover or what the inside that touches the screen is lined with. I'll have answers to those questions and more possibly soon. It's only $6 more for the flip cover over the snap on so it should be worth it if they offer the same quality that I see in the case I'm currently holding.
Case-Custom's design tool online is a bit odd. Everything is there, including facebook and instagram integration as well, but it's just a bit clunky. It's less flashy that Casetagram's tool, but in the end it's simple in a great way. Where Casetagram's design tool makes you guess, Case-Custom's is straight forward. Unfortunately, you can't see any other angles of the case besides a head on view while designing, it doesn't show off the unique straight sides anywhere? The case also looks as if it is soft plastic in the first picture you see on the site, but it is in fact, hard plastic. You aren't given a choice to pick the color of the plastic that is used for your overall base case. I designed a full sized picture to take up the whole back and the sides and inside are a bright clean white gloss plastic by default. It looks great in the end but It was a shot in the dark. Everything seems a bit confused with Case-custom, down to their customer service. It was odd talking back and forth and I assume it is all thanks to an English-Chinese language gap. All of my email exchange with the company was signed by a person named Zoe Saldana. It's a completely unique name and the equivalent would be if I told you that this article was written by me, Arnold Schwarzenegger, thank you for reading.
The process of ordering a case through Case-Custom reminds me of the words of the late great Hunter S. Thompson:
“Buy the ticket, take the ride...and if it occasionally gets a little heavier than what you had in mind, well...maybe chalk it off to forced conscious expansion”
It might not feel like the case will arrive, but if and when it does, it might be one of the better cases that you've ever seen. I wish I could be more certain for you here but all I can tell you is that the Case-custom case costs less, it was easier to design, and I'm much happier with the final product next to the Casetagram case. Buy the ticket, take the ride...
Final thought: A big part of which of these makers gets your business will come down to personal preference. The printing is good enough on both, they are both tough enough cases, and they both have cutouts that line up well to accommodate the Note 2. If you want thin and light and putting filters on top of filters on top of filters interests you, then Casetagram is for you. If you don't mind a thicker plastic case and you like the modern straight edges a la the iPhone, you'll be happy with the Case-custom case.

Ok. You've got me.
I'm not even interested in this type of case. I use the zero lemon battery and the tpu that came with it.
However, after all the debates about the music in your slide shows I just had to click to see what you chose for this one.
lol ok I was a little curious about how the cases look too...
Nice review and nice pics.

That's all I can ask for! Thanks for reading.
Good news to report,
The company mentioned here, Case-Custom, offers a customizable flip case for our note 2! If you read through the review above you'll see that I was really impressed with their design and build quality.
I've designed a custom flip cover on their site and it is shipping out today. I'll report as soon as I receive it (quoted 10 - 20 days) on the quality.

Dot View case on sale. Black and grey under $10 USD

Quick Amazon search (not signed in, no referral/affiliate link)
I never cared about the Dot View case, but I just ordered one. $9.30 with the NC state sales tax. Can't beat that. I guess I've been a little curious about them, since there are a lot of decent cases under ten bucks, but I pretty much sprung on this one.
No idea how long the sale is for. Could be over any time, really.
Bought one. Thanks!
Match price it at best buy and got it for $9.4O
Just make sure to get the one that is shipped and sold by Amazon. I got one last week for $12 and it is 100% genuine. Not the best case I have ever used, but for $12 It's a cool case for going out, and showing off.

mine takes like three weeks to get here
Can anyone confirm, that the M8 fits with the Dot view Case in the Car D190?
Regarding shipping, I ordered just before or after I posted, on a Saturday. They said it would be here Monday. It was here Tuesday. So 3 days instead of 2 (I have Amazon Prime).
The case fits but not completely. The bottom part fits like a glove. There's no mistaking how it fits in. Perfect fit. However the lid (the dot view part) does not close all the way. I have nothing on my screen, not even a screen protector.
The dot view gimmick is just that. You can swipe on the case but you have to really press. You might be surprised by how much pushing you have to do. You can't change the theme. You can't customize a thing about it. You can change the temperature units in Settings → HTC Weather. This is not very intuitive and it's not stated anywhere in the manual.
The magnet thing works great. When you open it, the screen comes on. When you close it, the phone goes to sleep.
Dark grey means grey that is not light. I wouldn't call it dark, either. It's just grey. It's similar to the gun metal grey finish of the phone (if you have that option — I do, except stupid PC Verizon calls it "metal grey" since "gun" is a bad word now) but matte, not glossy. And it extends the premium feel of your phone. It feels like a premium product. It feels like a genuine HTC accessory.
It does leave dot view smudges on your screen, but these are easily wiped off with a microfiber cloth, which every phone owner should have, anyway.
You can forget about one-hand usage. You will need the other hand to hold the case open while you text.
I use a FlyGrip and I have their case. The FlyGrip would not stick to the bare back of the HTC One M8. I don't know if that's because the adhesive doesn't bond to metal. It's peeled off my naked Samsung Galaxy S3 and two of its cases cleanly, so the bond is not permanent. I might try attaching my FlyGrip to the Dot View case, but what would be the point? The FlyGrip is made to accommodate one-handed phone use. Dot View prevents it. And with a FlyGrip, you gain a kickstand, but you just can't lay your phone flat on its back.
So now I have two cases, and though I meant to take the Dot View case to work, I just didn't bother taking my phone out of the FlyGrip case. I intend to keep the Dot View case, but probably won't. I have one IRL friend with a One M8, and I might let him try it out, but he only uses his phones naked. He doesn't like cases at all and thinks they're a waste of time that take away from the engineering of the phone — especially a nice one like ours. And I don't disagree, but I like the FlyGrip's utility. It's useful to me. It prevents drops. But it isn't cheap.
Bought a new one because it's cheaper, forgot it doesn't work well with my glass screen protector. =\

Theme stuff is in the HTC Dot View app. If not on phone, then it's on Google Play.
Also if you're rooted, you can do a lot more, theme-wise.
