[Q] Min reqs for app install

I have recently purchased the GT-P1000 in Kuwait. It's unlocked but I don't have admin rights to it. Initially, there was no Android Market but I found the fix for that in another post.
My current dilemma now is I can't seem to get apps to install. The downloads will pause themselves and never install the application. I've had this happen to Angry Birds and Robo Defense.
As of now, I have no desire to flash this device. AFAIK, it's 3g voice/data straight out of the box and I don't want to risk losing those features.
Now, the question is, what's the bare minimum I need to do so I can install apps from Android Market and remove unwanted apps?

So I feel like an idiot now. For some reason, I can now get the apps to download and install: Angry Birds, Robo Defense, ES File Explorer, and Dropbox have installed successfully.
I still would like to remove some apps and install some that will need root access. Can someone confirm that if I root the phone that it won't affect the 3G data/voice capabilities?

ROOTING only gives you su (superuser admin) rights to your phone. It doesnt affect your phone or device functions (unless you mess around somewhere). Rooting gives you ability to access files or functions that vendor has it locked out from you. Sort of like jailbreaking the iphone.
Flashing roms is another thing. Some roms have no support to some functions But since you already own an unbranded non carrier GSM and Not CDMA tab. You shouldnt really worry.

all samsung tabs are different...so in lots oof countries they made some differnces in possibilties.
Try out by going to my weblog and after registering to download thje apks you find in the download section.
Best is to download this on another laptop..and copy the apk to the micro sd card in a folder with your name
then withe a file manager clck on the apk to see if they install
not working.....then you need to root your samsung to make it work

thanks for the info. I didn't think rooting would break anything but my paranoia got the best of me.

I rooted my phone yesterday and was able to install and run apps that need SU rights. I'm still havin trouble removing the apps that came with the Tab. Thoughts anyone?
FYI, I can uninstall apps that I've downloaded from the market.

Oho. stock apps cannot be uninstalled. Simplest way to uninstall stock apps is to use Titanium Backup Pro. Before you do that, be sure you backup the app in case you need it again later.

rooted. now what? how to remove bloatware?

I have the lg optimus l90.
I used the towelroot app to root the phone. i used a terminal app to verify that i do have root. when the app opened, it displayed a $ sign but when i typed "su" and pressed enter it gave me a "#" prompt. so am i rooted?
also i was told to install the superSU app. why do i need this? can't i just uninstall the bloatware right now since i am rooted?
I installed the superSU app but it was not able to install the su binary because i did not reboot the phone after using towelroot. I uninstalled the SuperSU app. anyhow, what do I need to do now to remove those bloatware apps. there is no option to uninstall in the apps section of the android settings application.
finally, I read somewhere that i should use nobloat app to uninstall the bloatware but it is not uninstalling the bloatware. I uninstalled it.
so what do I do now?
any help would be much appreciated.

Superuser is needed for apps to have root rights to your phone. Install superuser. Reboot phone and open app. Reboot again if needed. Rooting is useless without superuser installed

Along with root and SuperSU, you will also need a root App manager or root file manager. I personally prefer to use ES File Explorer as it is both an application manager ( user and system ) as well as an awesome file manager.
There is no list of acceptable system apps to remove. So be very careful as to what you uninstall or you may endup with a soft bricked phone or one that spazzes out whenever it feels like it. I would recommend making backups of any app you want to remove before uninstalling it. At least you might be able to restore them if something goes wrong.

so what exactly is SuperSU for? when I opened it up I saw nothing in the apps list and I did not see anything else in the other lists within the app. also, I did not restart the phone before trying to update the su files and when I did restart the phone nothing updated. So, do I use something like ES file explorer to remove bloatware?
by the way, when I tried to surf the web after installing superSU app, the web browser was extremely slow. the webpages loaded very slowly but when after I uninstalled the superSU app, it was loading the pages fast again as normal. what's up with that?

SuperSU is a binary executable that grants or denies superuser requests. Without it root is worthless.
You won't see anything in SuperSU permission list until an app asks for superuser permissions. When first opening the SuperSU app you should get prompted to update/install the su binary. Allow that action to happen.

That's because the su binary was never updated.

so in order to run something like the nobloat app I need to grant it permission to be a superuser? I never had to do anything like that when I ran the nobloat app and It actually worked. It still does not make sense to me what supersu is used for.

I ran the towelroot app and it was successful. However, I did not reboot the phone before attempting to update the su binary and the superSU app said i should restart before updating. I restarted the phone but it never updated the su binary when I ran the superSU app again. What do I do now?

Uninstalling bloat apps not working

Hey all!
I am absolutely new to the rooting world (last time I used a rooted phone was circa 2009/2010) so please bare with me, I am have a world of trouble with getting the bloatware apps uninstalled from my phone. HTC u11, I installed twrp, I installed magisk, I tried to uninstall the apps, no dice, I then grabbed one of the apps out there for removing system apps, I gave it root, it failed.
I'm hoping to get to the linux subsystem to see if I can get a jdk running on this. I'm trying to make a dev box I can use while hiking (all with a microphone and finger tracking keyboard). But the first pebble becomes a stumbling block. How to actually get root and act as an elevated user in android.
Anyways I think I'm missing something and maybe I missed a piece in the documentation since I did kinda fly through it.

There are a few ways to remove bloatware.
You can delete them in TWRP.
You can delete them with a root capable file explorer.
You can delete them with Titanium Backup.
You can delete them with an app that's been made for the purpose.
If one of the above doesn't work, try another.
You can also pseudo-debloat by using a Magisk module that simply systemlessly "removes" them. They'll still be there, taking up space, but you won't be able to access them in any way (until the module is uninstalled). I don't think this is what you want...
Doing it in TWRP should always work.
With MagiskSU, I've personally tested it with both a root file explorer (FX) and TiBu. But, YMMV...
Purpose made apps might or might not work. It depends if they're properly updated or not.

Successfully Rooted Device (Nexus 9) but some apps not giving me root access

Hi All,
First post here so be nice
I rooted my Nexus 9 yesterday and everything appears to have gone through successfully - I ran the Root Checker app which also confirmed "Root access is properly installed on this device!". I also have SuperSU installed and functioning.
However, when I try to run apps like System App remover to remove unwanted bloatware, the uninstall fails and I am told I do not have root access. I have granted this app super user permissions in SuperSU too.
Has anyone else had this problem or knows how to fix it?

Thanks for the super-fast response. So I used the Nexus Root Toolkit and everything went through successfully however, I am still finding the same problem.
Root Checker confirms that the device is rooted but when I try to use some apps to remove unwanted bloatware, I am told that I don't have root access and that the uninstall has failed (yes I did grant the apps super user privileges with SuperSU)

"Zygote" thing asked ROOT access!!?

Guys, can someone help me? One day I was zig-zagging by the internet, whatching some vídeos on youtube, and suddently, a app in the name of "zygote" asked root permission. I didn't have any app called zygote, so I got really scared. I searched for a 10-day old nandroid backup and completely reinstalled my system. I just wanna ask if someone knows what it is and what does it do
More probably important information;
I AM (and was) rooted
I HAVE (and had) xpoded framework installed
I had BOOTMANAGER, WIFI_PASSWORDS, StatusbarSleep, Lucky Patcher, Emoji Switcher, and a CUSTOM .qmg bootanimation.
For some reason, after I got that thing, everytime I tried to take a screenshot, my SystemUI crashed exactly 6 times
My SuperUser client was called "SuperSu" (the newer one) and was PseudoPro (had pro features without paying)
For some reason, I couldn't disable "Mount Namespace separation" setting in SuperSu before and after that "zygote" thing, but now I already resolved that problem
(idk if this might be important) I was using iOS 10.2 emoji
mostly of my usage in this device is whatching youtube and checking things out in XDA, dont get out of those websites often.
Also, thanks if you can help me out with that.
