Lag after Xposed. - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys I have the note 5 sm9208. After installing Xposed on both 5.1.1 or 6.0.1 firm wares. There is an unbearable lag. Is there any way to fix this
In 6.0.1 the lag mostly occurs in lock screen and some stock apps like internet

[Q] Heavy lag and last 4.4.4 OTA

I'm facing some severe lag while using my phone, specialy on Snapchat and transiting thorugh pages/apps (homescreen app drawer). I wanted to know if there's anyother OTA for 4.4.4 other than KXB21.85-24 XT1069 that could possibly lead to a fix. I won't update to Lollipop right now because i rely on many Xposed frameworks.
I tryed using Pinkmin kernel over Stock ROM to see if there's improvements, but the only change was the phone temperature that no longer gets too hot.
Am i missing something?

Pros/Cons of going from my old rooted NC2 to OC2?

I've been running a towelrooted NC2 note 3 for what seems like forever now. I'm currently seeing that OC2 has a stagefright patch and seems like a solid reason to finally update.
What would be your arguments for or against upgrading to OC2?
Right now my phone runs great and I've got it working to where I'm getting fantastic battery life. (GPS working, No wifi issues over AC, etc.)
1. Is safestrapping to OC2 standard procedure to keep root?
2. I've heard there are issues with Xposed? Can anyone confirm or offer some information regarding this?
The only root apps I use anymore are:
Titanium Backup Pro
Amplify
AdAway
YouTube AdAway
BootManager
Complete Action Plus
Xposed Additions
Xprivacy
I believe all but Titanium Backup Pro are based on Xposed Framework, so this is obviously a concern.
Your opinions are appreciated.
If you're looking to upgrade, might as well upgrade to a s6 (5.0.2) port in the dev section.
I have used all of the same apps/modules, minus xPrivacy, in the past on LP/KK. You can certainly install xposed on 5.0+, but there are several issues that arise with it. Mainly, the xposed framework itself requires a few workarounds/compromises with Samsung's ART, which impact performance/endurance.
With the s6 port, you get a basic privacy/permission app (think built-in App Ops), full theme support, ART, etc.. I've had no need for Amplify/Greenify/etc. since updating.
All in all, LP is quite a bit faster than KK, way more secure, & far more functional of a ROM, imo. Make a backup in TWRP, flash LP, and see which you like. :good:
EDIT: You'll be giving up xposed (most likely) by moving to LP. Which may be a good thing, in the long run.
Thanks for the input. I will give your s6 ROM a shot and see how I like it. I've read about, but not in detail, that xposed caused some security issues of its own before. I still wonder just how severe a threat those are in relation to others.
Are there debloat scripts available or needed for the s6 ROMs? I've always done them one by one myself, but I'd like to see if they might save me a lot of time.
(Arguments about hurting website revenue aside) is there a non xposed based ad blocking for 5.02? Personally, I just can't stand ads on my mobile device at all. I've never heard a lot about malicious ad code hitting android users much, but better safe than sorry.
What about firewall capabilities in 5?
Still it's too bad their isn't a ROM that would be a distribution focused on reliability and security.

AdAway Version 3.1 https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=org.adaway I just download and install the apk. It needs root permission to run.

Same boat, rooted stock nc2 with xposed and moto tether working just fine. Everything works, screen mirror, occasional GPS hiccup but not sure it's because of the magnetic mount. After two days and reading 100+ pages, I decided to stay on NC2. Too many FCs and fixes and patches.
Did you update? Is it stable? Does everything work? Tether, screen mirror, GPS?
COMPLETELY agree!!!

I've gone back to OC2, numerous times...and go right back to NC2. Hiccups, lag, straight up freezing...and just an overall terrible experience versus JellyBean or KitKat. App history management is subpar, uses way too much memory...too much white which leads to more battery drain. OC2 is a fail, in my book. Just my two cents.

Thanks for the feedback. Been switching between the S5 on 5.1 and the Note 3 on 4.4.2. S5 is surprising smooth on 5.1. Great battery life most of the time. Note 3 is stable except for the latest Google maps update which crashes occasionally.

As far as I understand OC2 ruins the ability to root or anything.. I upgraded to OC2 not knowing i can't do anything now.. can't root or anything all root ODIN's fail... Tried ODIN all in one NC2 now it's stuck on ATT logo never loads in so OC2 will ruin your day and I can't even use my phone right now.. I absolutely HATE SAMSUNG since I bought this Note 3.. I hate the stock OS.. I want cyanogenmod.. So I guess now I'll need to odin oc2 again and stick with it forever or until someone figures out how to root OC2... NC2 is a downgrade from OC2 .. so that's not possible to downgrade everything breaks with a downgrade.. I might need to do it all over again now of the CSC etc.. I did all in one to NC2

Thanks, I'd actually prefer to stick with NC2 but I'm having a hard time finding Kat Xtreme v2.3 as the links are dead... It's an amazing 533MB rom .zip which is perfect but I just can't find it anywhere..

7.1.1 with RADIO and KERNEL of 6.0.1??? IN SEARCH FOR A FIX FOR WIFI/CONNECTIVITY

Hello,
Like many others, my phone was solid on 6.0.1. My phone was on shamu-mmb31c image that comes with radio radio-shamu-d4.01-9625-05.32+fsg-9625-02.109.
After upgrading to 7.1.1, I started to have wifi/connectivity issues. No workaround was helping.
I started flashing older radios in hope that it will fix the issue. Even radio of 6.0.1 (above) did not resolve the issue. To just prove to myself that issue is not hardware related I flashed back factory image of 6.0.1 shamu-mmb31c and all the connectivity issues were resolved.
After above experiment, I came to the conclusion that the issue with 7.1.1 is not just the radio, reason being that flashing radio of 6.0.1 did not fix it.
For next step I want to flash 7.1.1 , then flash radio AND kernel of 6.0.1 over it. to see if it will give me a good result or not,===== having 7.1.1 and solid connectivity.
Now my question is,:
Will having an older kernel flashed on 7.1.1 cause any failure? Will it be a good test? Does it even make sense? What would be the caveat of having old kernel on 7.1.1 ? Will features of 7.1.1 stop working?
Thanks,
You can't use an M kernel on N or vice versa. Won't work.

Your issue is 7.1.1. Android N is full of issues that are causing many people to go back to android 6.0. Every Odd numbered release from google seems to be buggy ones.

LOL, Seems Microsoft Windows curse is universal (95,98,2000,xp,vista,7,8,...10).

I flashed radio of 7.1.1 over 6.0.1 and it did not cause any issues. This is a proof to what you just said. Kernel is full of bugs and that is hard to fix
Sticking with 6.0.1 for now! Maybe I should get back into using custom roms again!
Thanks.

Heck 98, XP and 7 were the only good ones. Dont even get me started on 10. I had to go back and revert over 300 PC to windows 7 when the 10 upgrade happed. That was just a nightmare.
What sort of issues are you talking about? Besides the speakerphone echo.

I can confirm that.
Changed some things
Using lite stockROM of danvdh and Franco's kernel incl. speaker echo fix.
After debloat, decrypt and previous G-app(black) of TBO-team and removing Gmail and G-messenger it seems to work well.
Fingers crossed..., will report here.

basically you are changing all the parts. I am hoping Google do that in future updates!!! Of course I doubt that since they do not care about old devices!

It seems to me that Google changed policy.
Till now the changes made the N6 great again.
No encryption, dark interface when possible.
Aquamail is better than Gmail, Signal is better than G-messenger. Nova launcher is better than G-now launcher.
I replace/disable G-apps and G-services when possible.
No Google Assistant, no Fit, no Pay, no Game, no Hangouts, no Wearable, no G-drive, no G-now.
Runs smoothly, no issues. Excellent battery life. Good to have XDA.

N920C: Since Nougat various problems. Which custom rom is recommended??

Hi community,
my lovely Note 5 is the best smartphone I've got ever. But since the update from 6.0.1 to Nougat, the problems begun.
The original Samsung Keyboard is crashing while rotating the screen (even I use swiftkey). And sometimes, but often I can play Videos in Facebook, WhatsApp, ... only after rebooting the smartphone. And some litlle more problems. But these two problems are annoying.
I've organized a S5 Mini for the while I'm rooting and installing the custom rom on the Note 5. But I'm looking for a stable rom with no known bugs like battery drain, or similar things ...
Is this possible meanwhile?? I'm not using Knox. I just want a "stable" smartphone ...
Greetings,
kangaroo72

have you tried to perform a full wipe on stock?
im using stock rom, rooted with super su and flashed fuel kernel
so fast very very stable for me
when jumping from major firmware changes, full wipe is always recommended
Yes, I wiped two times... Which model you have? N920c too? Which firmware?
I've tried all nugat rom on 920CD. All original and custom: all have the problem of missing voice notifications: call without ringing, no sound messages, and all other silent notifications. About 90 installations and all are strictly clean. All with that problem. Today I'm back to Android 6.01.
This because nobody can help me in this problem to solve .
Download the latest stock ROM here: https://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/
Use "so far stable Odin3 v3.12.3": http://odindownload.com/download/#.WXLIZmh97Dc
I have been using this method since the first 6.0 update and found no issues at all after the full reset (wiping data & cache)
As of now the most stable version on my Model Number SM-N9208 is PDA N9208XXS3CQF3 and CSC N9208OLB3CQD2
Don't forget to wipe cache and data AFTER you install the ROM. Even if wiping cache is only advisable but wiping data will help you get rid of those bugs from your previous OTA Update.
AND DON'T FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR DATA BEFORE DOING THIS
****** SEARCH IN GOOGLE OR YOUTUBE ON HOW TO PROPERLY USE Odin3 v3.12.3 *******
***** I WON'T HELD RESPONSIBLE IF YOU DO SOMETHING WRONG ON YOUR PHONE SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION BUT THIS METHOD IS THE SAFEST AND LEGAL METHOD *****

Phone lagging everywhere

Hello
I have a G800F with nougat RR installed, xposed, Spookcity kernel 1600MHz and some apps. I feel it extremely laggy. I tried also to freeze all apps except the minimal apps I use for work, disable xposed, restore stock keyboard, but the phone is still laggy. It's the hardware so limited or if I revert to MM or change someting else it could be more responsive?
Thank you

Try whipping the Cache. It seems to help on my girl friends old S5 mini that was also extreme slow.
