I'm on 23.1.A.0.690 (rooted) and I find that sometimes I receive messages with emojis that I don't have the glyph for. For example: ? looks like a box with an x in it on this device. Are my friends using non-standard emojis? Or am I missing glyphs? Note most emojis show up just fine.
Try using "emoji switcher" from play store, open it up and install "ios 9 v3 testing"
Should work
Thanks!

Update from tonight's Googling:
Google Play v3.10.9
Gmail 4.2
AOSP style message app apparently this mod still converts messages to MMS..
Google Now - edit: sorted: here's the thread. Note: There's also an inverted Dark Horse theme but I don't want the Dark Horse theming, don't like the navy blue and the way the yellow is used
Dark Samsung keyboard with blue outline
Whatsapp - edit: sorted, here's the thread
Google search "rujelus22" . Fully themed apps, and you can flash all at once in a zip.
That guy is awesome!

Thanks - helpful link. But they don't seem to be up-to-date. For example, the FB app is still the old, heavy version from before they optimised it. Haven't tried the others but with FB being old I'm expecting the same with the other apps. Here's the full list from his site.
Edit: So far (as of 13 Dec 2012) Dropbox, Es File Explorer, Google+ and Google Drive are up-to-date.. haven't tested the others. So this is good news, the apps seem to be up-to-date
Hi. I have just recently upgraded my SAMSUNG GTS5830 from ANDROID 2.3.7 - 4.4.2
Everything is running fine and I love the new look. I managed to install the missing apks namely Apollo music player and Google Camera. The others are working fine.
My problem is that the Emojis don't show up on my keyboard. Only afew show up and mainly in black & white
It's just the typical heart and X o's that are showing up. Any idea where the colored ones are for the version 4.4.2 keyboard? And I also downloaded Google Keyboard but it just closed everytime I opened it up so I'm using the default one.
If my Samsung does not support this emojis is there another version of Android that I can downgrade to inorder to get them to show up on the keyboard? They worked fine when I was using 2.3.7
THANKS.

After a lot of headaches and nandroid restores, I finally managed to get my contacts back WITH exposed installed.
I downloaded Contacts.apk (Jan 2017 Samsung version for Android 6.0) from apkmirror and installed the apk, the app installed itself as system app and I can browse and save new contacts normally. Dialer is broken though, whenever I type a number it force closes. Calling stores contacts directly still works.
To fix dialer problem I downloaded a very nice and cool looking dialer/contacts app called "Simpler" which can be themed to match your Systemui colors.
Finally I got Xposed and my contacts app working together, i'm happy! Time to do a nandroid backup now in case a new module messes something up.
Is there any version of the Google Dialer that works with the S10 without giving you the error message when you launch it saying this app may not work properly? I know the Google GO dialer works, but you get the dumb message everytime you launch the dialer which is really annoying..
I used this version from apkmirror 8.0.148481159 and worked with no issues or errors on my S10 exynos. There is a thread which this version is mentioned in the app section go check it out
Just tried that version, it wouldn't even install
There shouldn't be a Google dialer that works with version 8.0.148481159
That is ancient. We're up to 30 now.
This version works on my s10 exynos

Recent versions of Phone won't install even though they say Android 7+. I must have uninstalled the default Samsung dialer. I can use a third party dialer but I prefer Google Phone.
