Hello everyone, new on this forum. wanted to say hello.
I own an LG O2X and suffer from almost all of the problems the rest of you mentioned.
I've been following the threads for some time now. Hope LG fixes this phone soon because as for now everyone I show the new phone to doesn't understand "what's so good about it?" LOL
i'm a happy one
have had O2X for a week now, and am pretty happy with it. but it is my first android, and i'm running MCR/Fear edition.
the only thing that i am missing is wi-fi calling (uma), which is only stock-installed in G2X.

Why can't you use skype instead? Or is it not the same?
Ive had mine for about a month now and cant fault it in anyway, compaired it against my old desire and friends iphones and it's on top without a doubt.
Gingerbread will be rolling out in the next couple of weeks i would of thought which will make it even better ;-)
I have it since yesterday and no problems so far, its lightning fast but I like the looks of my arc more. Still in doubt which one will be my daily phone, I like them both.
Sent from my arc or optimus 2x

I didn't look into Skype, because my wife (with regular cell phone) can't reach me on Skype (free account), unless they provide free incoming call number.
I prefer (1) UMA/GAN, (2) Google voice/Talkatone-like app on android, and (3) other SIP, but that's just me. Beside, I think any T-Mobile user should be able to use UMA/GAN via app.
I have a feeling that eventually telephone/cell-phone will migrate to IP based protocol, and service providers will become merely data provider. The question is when and if they will be willing to. I'm sure there will be issues and reluctance. I read somewhere and Verizon is looking into voice over IP (or a name similar to that), to enable "talk and surf at the same time" like GSM can. Now I'm babbling.... Anyhow, CM7 might have already included UMA/GAN. I just need to test it when I have a chance.

I totally agree !
Just switched to tmo and purchased a 64gb Nexus 6 from Motorola. Should be here next week.
I had a few device & carrier questions being this is my first Nexus device (besides tablets)
I will be using this device on T-Mobile but it's from the Moto store.
Who will I be getting updates from? T Mobile or Google directly?
I plan on flashing a custom rom (most likely Pure Shamu from what I've gathered) being that one model of nexus supports all carriers (radios).. I read that T-Mobile will be pushing an update to support wifi-calling (which I need in my home). Will that work on my particular device or is there a specific T-Mobile Nexus that I'd need?
Lastly, I do use wifi tether quite a bit, and on my current devices rom they have the unlimited wifi tether hack.
Is that something built into a rom or has to be done separately?
Thanks for any help that can be given.
Oh, forgot one question.
Also read up on the encryption ordeal.
I don't need that on my device but is there any benefit to have it or not have it enabled?
Again, thank you.

Nexus is GSM unlocked and should theoretically work on all carriers out of the box. I bought mine from the motorola store and is working without any problems.
Updates come from google directly.
If you want to use Wifi calling, I believe that you do have to be running stock firmware, nobody will know for sure until it gets released.
I believe Shamu allows you to bypass the tether limit. I'm currently using CM 12 and tethering doesn't count towards my tethering limit.
The only benefit of not having encryption enabled is faster boot times.

If you root your phone, you can add the hack yourself. I am on a stock rom, and my grandfathered data plan has no tethering allotment, but i can tether to my heart's content. I copied this from another thread:
I was able to work around the issue by modifying the following sqlite database (you'll need root):
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
You need to add a new entry to the global table called "tether_dun_required" with a value of 0.
It looks like you need to do this because some configuration data was added to Android for T-mobile that forwards tethered data to this APN: pcweb.tmobile.com
T-mobile is probably checking to see if your account has tethering enabled when you go through this APN.
After I made this change I also needed to change my APN settings so that it uses ipv4 instead of ipv6. It seems like tethering with ipv6 does not work 100% yet.
I hope this helps.

Definitely rooting and most like run a stockish custom rom. Hoping that's built in if not I'll take a look into that.
Most of the custom roms I've run on t-mobile have that built in and are preset to ipv 4 not 6 for that exact reason.

My sister is moving to NYC tomorrow. Her first Apt.. 66th & 2nd.
I'm on Monday & Tuesdays so I'll be helping her move in.
What line of work are you in?
hey everyone
After much hard work I *think* i have developed a unified kernel for all 920 variants including F / I / S / K / P AND T
It *should* fix the no call-audio bug
Please PM me if you want to test it out i dont have a T variant so can only rely on you guys and gals
I don't think I have seen anyone on the 920T complain about no audio in a call. Could be I am blind and lucky that it hasn't happened to me.

This is an issue if you flash an international rom and make a call.
I would help but I am leaving for school right now

I just did a Forehead slap, I knew about that thanks for setting me straight.
Sent yah a pm. Got 920F rom already on my SD
PM sent.
thanks for the replies folks.
as this is beta testing please do not post any feedback in here, send it straight to me via PMs
does this mean we (tmobile gs6) users can flash international roms and use your kernel to make the rom work 100%?
That's the idea. T-Mobile users will lose volte and Wi-Fi calling though
this should also work on the W8 Canadian variant right?
Hopefully this can be implemented on the edge variant as well if it's fixed. I want to try other roms so bad.

would love to see this when it is done and working, sad to say our limited access to roms at this point is stifled more so by not being able to get sound in calls when everything else within the rom seems to work fine with the int versions.
We've figured out exactly whats causing it. The question is can it be made universal. So far no. But we have some ideas still and another mind as well looking at it with us.
So, just been reading this:
http://phandroid.com/2015/05/22/off...android-5-1-1-with-wifi-calling-this-weekend/
Being on EE in the UK, who have just launched WiFi calling, I'm particularly interested in the above article and would love to see it on my device.
However, I'm just wondering what it would take to get it on my device and what the requirements are. Would be so handy.
Could I install the above 5.1.1 T Mobile version and simply change my APN?

Unlikely. I don't think the EE wifi will be the same as T-MO USA, even though EE is 50% T-MO UK.

That doesn't really help the OP. He was hoping the t-mobile wifi calling app would help him wifi call on a different provider.
Yes, I'd be interested to know this as well. It would also be nice to know if the new O2 HD Voice ( http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Welcome-News/HD-Voice-is-rolling-out-on-O2/td-p/879709 ) is working with LYZ28E. Not sure what network @toString is on.
yeah It would be cool if this could be used with sprints wifi calling.. but I doubt that's possible

Me? I didn't even post in the thread!
- WiFi Calling
- HD Calling
- Video Calling
- VoLTE
I figure since people have had the phone for a few days now, maybe there is a definitive answer to be had. I contacted Verizon and they said that WiFi calling and HD calling will not work and that an unlocked phone will remove these features from my account. But, Verizon did say that VoLTE and Video calling will work. I contacted Samsung support and they said that all 4 features will work but that I would need to contact Verizon to enable the features on their end. Seems like a runaround.
Is there anyone with the unlocked variant and Verizon that can confirm what does and doesn't work? Thanks!
I do not have any of those working. I will try calling Verizon. I really want VoLTE/HD calling to work.

Yes it works. I had called someone in Verizon and he went through line by line, updated something called mpas or empass, and then I had to restart my phone to get it active. Finally worked after talking to 3 different people. Ask to speak to a level 2 tech if the first guy doesn't get it
Thanks, MACHEK. Which of the features are you referring to? All of them? Or, specific ones? Thanks.

Yeah I had my phone on airplane mode just to check and only had Wi-Fi. Received texts, calls etc no problem. HD calling works too. I tried to reach out to my contact at Verizon for a real good description of what he checked but he hasn't replied yet. It took him a good 15 minutes but eventually he got it. He said he went line by line to double check each setting.
Thanks again, MACHEK. If your contact gets back to you can you please reply here with the info so I and others know what to ask for when calling Verizon to get these features working on our unlocked phones?
Mr. Toad - Since you're calling tomorrow, if you get any specifics can you please post it as well?
Thanks!

Yes, if you do hear back, please post with what was necessary to turn on, I'm so glad that wifi calling works, that was the last piece which I was worried about from reading other threads.
Just some screenshots of it (on a side note it's annoying my theme isn't dark on that one setting, seems odd looking)

Looks like they also changed your statusbar. Verizon's 4G letters are like that.
Can you check if your hotspot works without a subscription prompt?

Wow sorry guys I just realized you guys are talking about the non snapdragon version? I missed that part in the original post, but to be honest, a few people even with snapdragon are having this problem of getting it set up so I wouldn't give it up.
I'm taking about the snapdragon US unlocked variant so please update when you have the details, thanks again!
Yeah, I think we're all probably talking about the snapdragon US unlocked variant. So, MACHEK, I think you're info is still good, correct?
