[Q] [i9000] [i9001] Plugging in charger = booting? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I do not own that phone, but I'm thinking about using it as car gps tracker. Does plugging the charger(discharged phone) turns it on to Android or it just waiting for the power button(with charging animation on the screen)? If not can we do it by editing chargemon script? I know that the phones behave differently in this situation.

It will show the charging screen until u start the phone manually.

any ideas anoyone?

Well........ Just keep charging for 1 -2 hours. do not try to switch on the device. if it doesn't help, try with different charger.

Just plug it in for 1 hour then try reebooting
I had this problem. What it was for me was the micro usb dock on the phone was bent downwards and out of place. To fix it I put in the cable and bent it back. I do not exactly recommend it but it was a quick fix for me.

Touchpad turns itself on when charging?

When I charge my HP Touchpad via either the USB cable or the touchstone dock it will turn itself on after a few minutes displaying the low battery symbol and robot into the default OS. Once in either Android or WebOS it will then open the clock app. Is this normal behaviour? If not then has anyone found a solution?
Thanks
Yeah, its supposed to do that...

Ah okay, just thought I'd ask in case it was ruining my battery or something.

When I have mine on the Touchstone and power it off it stays off , but if connecting to a charge source while turned off yes it does turn on . Try turning it of while it is still on the touchstone or connected to a power source. I checked mine with a touchstone.

It's normal, but once on you can power off and it should stay off while charging.
On earlier versions of the nightly, it used to reboot until powered off, but that problem seems to have been fixed with the recent updates.
Noticed one thing on my CM9 TP... just flashed to CM9 for a day or so... never had problem with the power button menu (Power off, Reboot, Screenshot.. etc) until I plugged it to the charging cable (via A/C -> USB adapter) charging it. Power menu doesn't get call out by holding the power button... anyone?
Mine doesn't turn on while charging if it is charging when I turn it off. If I plug it in, it can randomly restart
I have the same problem...what I did is to connect the charging cable first. then power off the tocuhpad. It stays off and won't reboot during the charging period.

Nexus 7 is not charging anymore

Hi !
So my nexus 7 is not charging anymore... 3 days ago I took it outside ( it was -20°C in Montreal) and tried to use it but it did not start ( I think the battery went off because of the cold).
When I went back home I plugged it to the AC charger but nothing happened. I checked on several forums ans finally succeeded in booting the tablet. But the as soon as the tablet is on, it displays the message that the tablet is shutting down. I can see that the battery is empty and it is like the tablet is not plugged to the charger(the icon displays a red exclamation point instead of the charging indicator)
When the tablet is off and I plugged it to the charger it displays the charging icon for a 10 seconds and then it disappears. During those few seconds I can launch the boot loader. I tryed to shut it down, de plug and re plug the charger. The charging icon appears and then disappears again after a few...
Any advice on this one ? I don't think the tablet is totally dead but I don't find the way to make it charge again.
Thanks a lot,
Guillaume

Does the charger get warm at all when you plug it in? Not that that's necessary but curious. Try charging on a different charger. Perhaps a local BB or similar would let you try plugging in in lieu of buying one. But trying a different charger/cord would be my first step.
Usually it's heat and not cold that devices hate.
HTH
Have you plugged it into a computer and left it that way for a few hours?
Did you tried pressing Power button for 30 seconds ?? It worked for some people, I was not even able to turn on my nexus 7 when its reached to my hands, i was so unlucky, today i given it to Asus service centre as its has international warranty, i lives in india & bought from US, they working on it,hoping for best.
You might have to take the back off and check the battery connector, some people have had them come loose.

These things are freezer tested and they work. Worst comes to absolute worst complete battery replacement is not that difficult if you are out of warranty. I remember reading that in the disassembly notes.

[Q] AC Charging Issues on HTC One Developer Edition

I encountered a very strange problem. It occurs when I am charging my phone using the AC Charger (not using USB). I saw several weird behaviour.
1. Either the charging LED does not light up and so, the charging does not take place. In such cases, if i leave it plugged in and then reboot the phone, it charges. But on unplugging & re-plugging, it again does not charge.
2. if the charging holds good (with unplugging / re-plugging), then the sound seems to go into vibrate mode. As soon I as unplug is, the sound resumes.
3. If the sound works and if the the charging also works, I also noticed that at times, the orientation (potrait to landscape & vice versa) is stuck at landscape.
I am not sure what's going on. I have the developer edition (64GB) and am right now at 1.29.1540.16.
I tried using my wife's Samsung charger (thinking my charger has gone bad), but similar issues.
Anyone, any ideas???
Anyone?
No one?

Screen Wake When Plugged In

My phone screen turns on when I plug in the charge cable or put it on the wireless charger. Is there a way to disable this?

Per chance do you have stay awake enabled in developer options?
There is no native way to avoid this behaviour, but you can somewhat manage it via an app called Snoozy charger in playstore
I'm just curious... Why are you bothered by the 5 seconds of screen on when you plug in the charger ? It just gives you an indication that charging has started, 5 seconds, and then it turns off.
