I am about to root my Samsung Galaxy S5 and found out about FlashFire to flash updates while keeping root. I understood I will still get notifications of OTA updates, which I have to download and then flash using FlashFire. My question is: are the monthly security updates/the Android security patch level updates delivered in this way?
Thanks in advance
Not sure
Hmm, does anybody else have a clue?

My phone is rooted and I have a custom recovery installed, but I'm on stock firmware. When I search for software updates, it doesn't tell me my device has been modified, but just goes on to say I'm on the latest update (August security patch for my region).
My question is: when the September security patch arrives, will I be able to do the update without losing root or any other issues?
If your on the snapdragon note 8 u cant root and never will be able to again

Hi mate,
As long as I know:
- you wont be able to use OTA sine you did root. (strange the is not saying your device has been midified. just install root ckecker from goole play to make sure you are root)
- if you flash any originial rom via Odin, your custom kernel will be replaced with Samsung original kernel and you need to root your device again.
I hope it helps you
An update, if anyone happened to be interested. The September update for my carrier is now available. When I went to check for software update in the settings, the device finally told me the system has be modified in unauthorised ways so I can't download the update via OTA. That means I'll have to download it from Sammobile and flash via Odin and lose everything and start fresh.
So, here's the thing: I upgraded to Pie using the leaked OTA. When the January update became available last month I didn't try to rollback or anything because it had nothing new.
Now the February patch is supposed to have the missing Pie apps (Digital Wellbeing, etc) and it would be really nice to be able to update, but I can't even update to the Jan one since it gives me error when trying to install the patch.
What's the best way to go to the February security patch? Should I try to flash an official firmware, and how?
I'm on 00WW_5_110 and my phone isn't unlocked or anything.
Yay, I did it! I followed this guide from here about unlocking the bootloader but only as far as downgrading to November patch.
After that it installed the official December Pie beta and then the January patch. It doesn't find the February update, but I guess it just isn't available in my region.
Currently running Baseband Version N960USQU1CSC1, Android Security Patch level: March 1, 2019.
I have never received an OTA update since buying my phone in Aug 2018. For the Android Pie update and all updates since, I have been performing them via ODIN.
Neither AT&T not Samsung have been able to troubleshoot this issue. Appreciate any help on how I can setup my phone to receive OTA updates.
Thanks!

The new firmware is in another post. Just Odin and you'll be current.
I have unlocked on AT&T , and just got the April update this morning, all OTA. Never had to Odin the updates , but definitely not as quick as the carrier branded models. I have only added the APN names when I got the phone(preorder so August 2018) and that's the only setting I changed.
Didnt think flashing instead of waiting for OTA would cause any troubles, but Samsung is sneaky sometimes. Have you thought that maybe you flashed the incorrect files, maybe carrier vs unlocked? Also, factory wipe and reset ? I know the pie update did some screwy things for me and it seemed better after a wipe .

Hey.
Is there a way to update only the Security Patch on rooted S10? Without update the complete Firmware?
Thanks
No
Hello, I am writing this because for the past year I have been manually downloading firmware and installing it into my s10 (G973U) I have never gotten an OTA update, and I'm guessing it's because I don't reside in the US nor do I have a US Sim card. My question here is if there is ANY way to fix this so I can get OTA updates. Yes I have tried SmartSwitch, doesn't work. I would greatly appreciate a detailed explanation since I'm new to flashing firmware and stuff. I am currently running the August security patch on Android 11.
...that should be the lastest update
