I can't use the OTA updates for my P8 Lite. They always fails to install around 4%. I can install manual updates though. My phone is not rooted. I tried a factory reset but that didn't help either. I bought my phone from a UK seller and I am using it in Denmark.
I am currently waiting for Huawei support to send me the B199 update since that failed too.
My question is not so much how I can get the B199 update to work (although that would be nice) but more as to why the updates fail every time. It is not ideal having to bother Huawei support every time I need a firmware update. What could be wrong with my phone? Is it some setting that is wrong? An app? A hardware error?

Current build?
OTA versions are meant for certain type of existing SW. I give you an example, you can update from B170 to B188 with OTA, from B188 to B194, but cannot do B170 to B194 by one step.
If you have OTA meant for your version of SW and still error at 4% then make full wipe and continue with local update

Ok it is not rooted but if you have TWRP or othe r recovery, the OTA can't appliy; in this case you need to flash the stock recovery
Turn OFF your phone.
Press and hold the following buttons for a few seconds, all at the same time: Power + Volume Up.
After a few seconds, you should see the Huawei logo first and then enter the Recovery Mode screen on your Huawei P8.
Or if You have adb on your PC or from a terminal on phone, send command: adb reboot recovery
it's custom (OTA enabled) or twrp or CM or .....
I don't have TWRP or other recovery apps besides the Huawei backup app.
First of all rooted phone. (Unroot phone is not enough!) Then incorrect combination of updates and/or vendor country info. For example- if you want update to v551 (unicomelectric/cn) you must flash v230 by fastboot, then local update to 335, then flash custom recovery for flashing Hwouc. After that flash original recovery and local update to v551 (as you see until now NO ROOT). As last step is flashing gapps and root. So unroot is not enough. Good luck!
My phone has never been rooted so that can't be the issue in my case. The vendor information also looks quite legit. Anyone who can help me pinpoint what makes OTA updates fail?

So you probably used incorrect update. Try to search what update you can install over your version. You can't install any higher number over lower one. Or write what version is your ROM and which update do you want to install.
BTW. no rooted, no custom recovery?

I'll be happy to provide a list of apps for you to see if one of my apps could be the problem.

i don't know exact numbers (I'm in the car now) but if you get update from Huawei site, it must be ok. If you want do a local update, try to search here on forum what build number you can use for upgrade. As I wrote before, if you want do upgrade to b535, you must have b230. From b240 this upgrade you can't use. (this is for example) . It isn't logical, but real. Sorry,I can't help better for now.

Is your bootloader unlocked?
Download your firmware b171 again and try to install it again, then install the update.app from vendor file.

hi there all. this is my quest so far.
Bought phone on Stock marshmallow -> unlock bootloader -> root -> flash beta nougat through TWRP -> end up on NRD90M testkeys -> rollback to intermediate rom L19B300 -> flash L19 B136 -> fresh phone (I thought) -> got an OTA for B190 -> daily driver
things I noticed:
magazine unlock doesn't exist
themes do not apply
Health app was missing (had to download an .apk to reinstall)
still not getting OTA for official L19 Nougat (probably because im in asia pacific region)
anyone got any clue how I would bring everything back to stock? as in the stockiest of stock forms? thanks for reading!

The official nougat is not released yet.
And there is a solution for your problem just search for it on xda and you will find it

Hi, my german honor 5c is running android 7 with firmware NEM-L51C432B350, in the app firmware finder a firmware update called NEM-L51C432B355 is shown. When i try the update.app over the dload folder it says it is the wrong firmware for my device. The proxy method isn´t working as well. Any idea how to update?

Hey man, you CAN boot into TWRP, you just need to flash it dude D
Sent from mine Huawei Honor 5C using XDA Labs, Unlocked and rooted with SuperSU Pro Version(2.81), using TWRP Recovery (twrp-3.1.0.2hi6250.img(It's the ONLY image, which works on EMUI 5.0 Honor 5C))
Which version of TWRP is bootable, I flashed several versions but couldn't boot into it with reboot and volume key. If I hold vol down it boots as normal and with up it goes to original recovery. So how do you boot TWRP?
This one works on my Nem-L51: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/twrp-t3588356
But I can't flash the update through TWRP, it gets cancelled after a few seconds with "error code 7"

I confirm that updating through HFF proxy from B350 to B355 works on L51. Just did it.
What I don't understand however is that I couldn't get it to work as a regular update (after downloading the update and rebooting, the install started and reported an error not long after ; leaving me no choice but to reboot), although this update was available without using HFF. Weird.

Straight to the point, has anyone successfully updated to B382?
I've tried via FirmwareFinder, it downloads successfully, but during install it says Unauthorised, removes files, and remains the same.
Trying via the dload/sdcard method, and it gives an error @ 5%, and then prompts to reboot the phone.
Have tried going from B190/202/362/370 but no luck each time. Tried with bootloader unlocked & locked, have since done a factory reset once on 370, and still no progress.
Will remain on B370 for now, B382 appears to only be a security patch, but it would be nice to have the peace of mind being on the latest (for Huawei anyway) patch.
CAN YOU GIVE ME LINK FOR b370 ? I HAVED TO TRY WITH FIRMWARE FINDER BUT NOT WORKING, THANK YOU. and i have a same problem when update B382, i think it's a beta version .

I actually used Firmware Finder to update to B370. Although initially I was having issues getting to that as well, from B362 both via dload & FF.
Ended up rolling back to B190 (via dload), then using FF went to 362 > 370.
Here's the LINK to the update.zip anyway.

Check one of the other threads in here on how to update via FF, step by step.
You need to go back out and check for updates again. Full size is def not 5mb.
In order to update to B382 NOW, you need to unlock your bootloader and use TWRP to update it UNLESS you wait till it official launch.

Bootloader unlocked.
update.zip for B382 downloaded.
Is it as simple as flashing that zip in TWRP?
Anything else required? Anything to be aware of?
As mentioned above, I've only updated via dload & FF previously, was not aware of any other method/s.
Thanks
I didn't not tried since bit troublesome for me to backup all data etc. I rather wait for final release. You may try to google this firmware and TWRP method was highlighted. Anyway do it at your own risk.

b382 is still unofficial, if u insist on installing it try this method:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/p9-plus/how-to/easy-upgrade-to-unapproved-emui-5-update-t3649532
The firmware already approved by Huawei. Just use FF to update will do.

I just want to confirm i have the latest building number. I have a European model using it in Canada so maybe the updates arent pushing to the phone? Im currently on VTR-L29C636B120
Last for your model and market version is 162
http://hwmt.ru/hwmtsite/firmware-database/?firmware_model=vtr-L29C636&firmware_page=0
I have stock VTR-L29 model, BL locked and b151 is the latest for me.
It lools like we need to wait for some time until new update is available through OTA
For anyone looking to update to L09C432B162 the latest on Firmware Finder, I can confirm I just did it and updated with no problems via proxy. I choose the FullOTA-MF version.
The responsiveness and transition between screens is so much faster than my previous version (B113) that I would recommend everyone to make the jump if you can.

No, if you use Firmware Finder app (download from Google Play store), you can use the official update functionality in your phone settings to get the update.
It tricks Huawei servers that your phone is ready for upgrade to this firmware version. So you are downloading the official firmware file from Huawei, and it should install like a normal OTA update. No data loss, no settings loss.

Yes but you must use Proxy method. This ist the only was it Works for me .Another Thing is, IT will only Works when Firmware Finder dass that this Update is approved for installation
Sent from my VTR-L09 using XDA Free mobile app
Question: Is there a way to downgrade from latest update to the previous one without root? I'm on a mobile data plan with my network and rooting the phone will compromise my warranty if in case anything goes wrong.
I recently saw a vtr-l29c432b171 OTA update but couldn't find it anymore or any link online.

sorry my fault..i updated to 164 with the full firmware package from the site i mentioned, andf then after first boot i got OTA to 171.
When updating using Firmware Finder FullOTA (in-app proxy), do you need to be fully unrooted (stock kernel and recovery) for this to work?
Asking, because I plan to try this update method from B165 to B172 on my VTR-L29C185 and wondering if this process keeps the user data intact or it means a full reset later regardless ... can anyone confirm user data can be preserved with in-app proxy method? Does the BootLoader stay unlocked too?
EDIT:
all went well as per update itself via in-app proxy detection method ... however had to use FullOTA package to successfully install it and that I think re-locked the bootloader, oh well, at least it worked fine

Exactly the same for me - VTR-L29C432B151 shows as the latest one.
I also found this firmware collection. Not sure how accurate is though...

for L09C432 is the latest B201, for L29C432171 according this site pro-teammt.ru.
But hte update is rolled out on very strange key...some countries have it, some operators don´t .... don´t know. So i always download the latest for my phone L29C432 and flash it trough HWOTA.

Hi all, i have problem with my p9 l19c432 eu version. I had l19 c432b386 android n and i wanted to go bac to mm. My device doesn't have root or unlocked bootloader or custom twrp. I have all stock.
Tried to go back to mm dload method
1. Rollback package c900b300
2. Full firmware
I did step 1 and instalation was successful 100% but now when i go to about phone my android version is 5.0 NRD90M test keys, not c900b300.
I didn't try to do step 2. because i don't know so much about nrd90m.
Maybe my rollback package is not good, is there difference about rollback package for l19 and l09?
Can anyone help me with my problem? Thank you very much

That is the correct rollback. You just need to download and flash your stock Marshmallow firmware. In my case (eva-l29c636) it was B191. I had the exact same test keys in "about phone" , so just go ahead with step 2.

Thanks for your help. I was suspicious because it's not c900b300 after rollback package, it's ''NRD90m test keys'' and i didn't know can i flash full firmware when build number is nrd90m, so i stoped there. I will try to flash full firmware tomorrow.
Do i need to factory reset now or enable OEM in developer options before flashing full firmware or maybe flash rollback package again and maybe then i will get c900b300?
Thanks

No, you don't need to factory reset or anything---just flash your correct M firmware.

I will try. But before that i must ask, do i need to install something more, because many people have problem as i can see on forum with missing apps like camera, keyboard, calculator..??
One more thing, do rollback will erase my personal data and aplications? And when? I asking because when i flashed rollback package, after that my data and aplicafions was still there. Maybe it will erase after flashing full firmware?
Thanks for answer

Yes, your data and apps will be gone. When you flash your M firmware it's going to make everything new as if you just opened the box. Sorry if you did not know that. I don't think there is any way to avoid that. I was just setting my device up and noticed an OTA update to B386 Nougat which I successfully updated to BUT then I found out that my P9 will not work on Nougat. I cannot scroll at all with it so I had to find the rollback firmware. I flashed it then immediately after that I flashed B191 Marshmallow and all is well. Nothing else. As I said, you will, however, lose all your data and I don't know if a backup can restore it for you.

Hey friend, i just install full mm firmware and everything is good now, i don`t have nrd90mtest keys, i have now l19c432b182, i found on huawei site for l09 they have rollback package and full firmware b182 so i found for l19. I think good firmware is the key of rollback, and b182 is the best for it. Thanks so much for your help!
I have only one problem, i can`t change themes. I can see themes and when i click apply it, it is successful but it didn`t change. Did you have that problem too?
Thanks again so much

Happy that it worked out for you. I have an icon on my desktop called "Themes", but when I tap on it there is nothing. I just assumed that was something that you would have to download and install from a Huawei website or get from a 3rd party app. Anyway, it does not concern me as I only care about throwing a pic on for my desktop. What really annoys me is that I cannot run Nougat on my P9
Anyway, good that you have it running again. I am on B191 and it looks like that will be all I can do.
update to emui 5
Hi everyone My current version is EMUI 4.1 and Android 6.0, I have not received an update for Android 7
The mechanic version currently is EVA-C900B136
How do I update to the latest version?
Thanks

I don`t know why is it like that, like some data folders missing from system. Old icons and theme problem, idk how to solve that.

Maybe it`s better for you my friend, emui 5 have great design and everything i must say but battery life is better on mm, bcs of it i rollback to mm. But i don`t know why u can`t get official uograde. When i rollback to mm b182 i got instant upgrade to emui 5. Maybe your version of mm is not good bcs when i had emui4.1.3 i got upgrade to b386 and now when i have 4.1.1 i got upgrade to b383. Maybe you can try to install another version of mm.

You can update with firmware finder app on playsore, search on forum, you will find tutorial for it.
Or with 3 buttons combination and dload if you can find update, or with twrp if you have it and you will need update file too. Just search on forum tutorial for it and CORRECT update for your phone, single or dual sim whatever you have and with c900 bcs u have global version.
