full mirror on android auto - Android Auto General

Hi !
I have a volkswagen polo with android auto/carplay/mirrorlink package
My phone is an One Plus X
For now I can only use android auto, I have seen some videos on internet of people can view a full mirror of the screen (for example to use chrome, youtube or other apps)
There's a mod or similar to have a full mirror?
thank you

no,because when I plug in the usb cable Android auto start automatically

It shouldn't happen.
Try uninstalling/disabling the Android Auto app on your phone.
Try with another smartphone to exclude compatibility issues as your phone is running OxygenOS.

[APP] [ROOT REQUIRED] Chromecast mirroring (screencasting) works!

The Chromecast only allows certain devices to use it's new mirroring functions. The OPO is apparently not on that list. But, thanks to this handy app, the Chromecast will now recognize my OPO and allow for full mirroring!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/har...experimental-enable-mirroring-device-t2812193
- Install the app and open it.
- Enable "Mirror Status:" and enable "QuickSettings Mirror:"
- Either open the chromecast app, and find mirroring in the left panel, or
- Pull down into your quick settings and see the icon for "cast screen"
There is a small bit of lag, which would mean some games that require split second timing would be hard to play on the big screen, but others work fine, like FIFA 14 for example. Any video site (that doesn't already support Chromecast) will work perfectly as well.
i try this but there is no audio out from my oneplus one only from youtube
Will this make my chromecast work as miracast that allow screen mirroring?

Allcast screens to TV or just PC. We are talking about screen mirroring and not Allcasts normal feature right?
A little easier way (for some)
Thanks for one of the popular and working solutions.. I was just about to apply that and I just wondered what happens if I try "Cast Screen" option in my One with my Samsung Smart TV, and I got it working with little efforts! Here's the thread I posted:

Might be helpful for somebody who wants to go an easy way if possible.

I found a little write up that makes it a lot easier and more stable. First download root explorer go to system folder then build prop. Find
ro.product.device=A0001 and change A0001 to hammerhead and save changes. Now go to settings / display and under cast screen option your chrome cast will now appear then click on it. Now once WiFi on and you pull down quick settings you will see cast option appear.

That happened to me once when I was kind of away from the TV or when I thoroughly covered back of my phone. So I assume that would be because of weak Wi-Fi Direct connection between devices. Also, I noticed increase in delays and some jitter in video. So this surely seems like connectivity issue.
May be trying without a case or with WiFi antena area open/unblocked should reflect the improvement.

I'm using Android Auto on my mobile phone, only. I don't have an Android Auto car unit. So, when I run Android Auto I can only use Google Maps, not Waze.
More:

So I'm looking for an unofficial way to do it.

Officially, there is no such option, unless you connect the phone via USB to an Android Car unit.

You lose waze voice commands if you run it through aa. Waze aa is more limited due to the driver centric rules google has for aa apps.

Maybe it's a bit late, but if you install Waze 4.37.0.3 beta from apkmirror (h t t p s : / / bit.ly / 2ksFskg ) it works on phone with Android Auto.
Bit late here, but I've found that if you open android auto then tell it to look for compatible apps you can go to the play store and load waze from in there then go back to android auto and have it recognize it.

Thank you so much! This worked right away, and now I can finally start using AA again.
I installed the latest Waze beta (4.41.0) on my Galaxy S9+ running Oreo. I didn't do anything with AA, and it recognized Waze as an option the first time I ran it after installing the beta. I just wish I had found this sooner.

Guys, you misunderstood that app It just is to "bypass" the Android Auto lock, and launch apps on the PHONE not on the car dash. For instance this can be used to launch Speedcam warning apps, or whatever stuff you want to see on the phone during an AA session.
If you want full mirroring there is a way, but it requires root
Step 1.) Root 2.) Install a VNC server on the phone 3.) Use WebViewAuto (See my repo) to connect to VNC via Browser
Basically this could be done with any remote-desktop solution which has HTTP support. If someone has a rooted phone please try I have no rooted phone right now..

No, a local vnc server can be accessed via local url as well (http://localhost or 127.0.0.1) but you have to find a server which has HTTP+HTML5 support. I think there are some in the PlayStore

Without internet (i don't have in car). What should i write to the address of WebViewAuto?
Thanks,
Edit, probably this has better chances to work
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vmlite.vncserver
but very expensive just to try.. If it does work i would buy it..
It support html5, and connection through wifi, or usb, etc..
Someone more experienced than me perhaps understand better if it will work.

Meh I just want complete screen mirroring using AA so I can use my car screen to show what's on the phone AA as is, is pretty ****e, I'd much rather use my own apps . For example my car mode setup of Car Home Ultra & tomtom speed camera overlay gives me about 100000% more flexibility and usefulness than AA. It doesn't seem to have hurt me using it in a phone cradle, it would just be better on my 8 inch car screen

WebViewAuto just uses the Internet of your phone. Type URL and you are good to go.
Yeah probably vmlite would work but its too expensive for me as well to just try.. BTw. it must not be VNC. Any RDP tool which offers a HTTP access could be used. It could also be done with Linux more easy. For example: Put a raspberry pi in the glovebox connect it to Smartphone or Car Wifi. Find out IP. Open IP with WebViewAuto and you got a full Linux Screen on the car dash

Thank you for this, I listen to youtube playlists a lot while driving. Was hoping it would actually play the video on the screen, but this is still way better than before.

Has anyone here used the app CarStream to watch Youtube?

I have wanted to move from my regular android head unit to Android Auto for a while, but some of my favorite things to listen to while driving to work don't have regular podcasts. So I have to watch them on YouTube. If anyone has used this, please let me know if it is working well. I really want to get a higher quality head unit, and this would definitely motivate me to do it. Here is a link to a video example of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9AjJW0H93Y

Yes it is working perfectly fine. I've just recently started using it. It also has inbuilt internet browser and u can also watch videos from your device's internal or sd storage. But i prefer using AnyAutoAudio app while driving because its much safer as it plays youtube on the background n u dont get distracted by the video too

You can downgrade the Google Play Service to 12.21.
It works. And also using Android Auto v2.95
But I choose mirroring app Android Auto over the carstream.

If you have no root, then you have to re-install the GPS every time its update.
If not, then you won't get the app working.
If you're rooted user, then you can use the lucky patcher in my case and searching for update in GPS and then disable the package.
In my case, I used the following step below based on my experienced:
1. Open LuckyPatcher
2. Tap search box
3. Search for Google Play Services
4. Tap the Google Play Services
5. Choose Menu of Patches then click Yes.
6. Choose change the app components
7. Tap the disable components 'pm disable' method in the first row
8. Then search for update and you can disable:
com.google.android .gms.update.SystemUpdateActivity (in tab Activities)
com.google.android.location.internal.NlpNetworkProviderSettingUpdateReceiver (In tab receiver)
com.google.android.lgms.update.SystemUpdateService
9. Just enjoy it! :good::good:
Already using this for months and no auto update for Google Play Services. But I'm using GPS 12.6.85 with the AA mirror and Android Auto 3.2.58 on rooted devices. And I'm not using the carstream again but using AA mirror and I can play youtube or even all of the apps on my phone in the head unit. FYI the carstream won't work in my version. I haven't tried it though.
Always Have a full functional Backup. Just in case!
Disclaimer: I will not be held responsible for any damage or loss caused by following those steps.

Is Google forcing an update from Android Auto 6.4?

I use Screen2Auto on an unrooted phone which only seems to work on AA 6.4 or earlier.
Some people have commented that they are being forced to update AA to 6.5.
I had a notification that said something about a required update to AA. I tried to read it but it just took me to the AA update page in the PlayStore.
Are some people being forced to update AA?

I was forced to update now I'm trying to find a workaround.
Yes.
Do not proceed, un-install the latest update of Google Play Services.
If already installed the AA update, so remove the update of play services and re-install the old version of AA from April.
All good.
I uninstalled the latest update of Google Play Services and rolled back Android Auto to version 6.3, but Android Auto will not work unless you hit the update button.
it's not that I'm sitting here wearing a tin foil hat or anything.. but I think we should discuss workaround methods in private messages. Google obviously has some form of eyes watching these forums because everytime a workaround is discussed it magically gets patched not soon after.

I also have a non-root Galaxy S7 (G930V) on Android 8. Uninstalled AA last year as I've been screen mirroring using USB to my BMW MMI (no touch screen). If I now install AA (6.5 from Play Store), then I won't be able to install S2A with AAAD at this point? Should I try to find and load AA 6.4 and attempt the S2A install or wait to see if they'll be an update to S2A and AAAD that works with AA 6.5?

One question about this: does it download app data afterwards during your drive?
Additional question: can you also clear data and cache after being connected to Android Auto? I would prefer a Tasker task to do this for me. The idea is to clear data and cache as soon as I get connected to Android Auto.
