Hi everyone
Not got my N4 yet, ordered yesterday though.
Found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XraA3-8t2M4&feature=relmfu
Looks a bit better than it used to be. Can anyone who actually already has one of these confirm the smoothness of 1080p video capture?
Yup the latest OTA had a fix for the camera.
That does seem a lot less janky than before - I'll be recording at 720p anyway as I have an 8GB Nexus on the way. If that's the speed of 1080p, I'm very optimistic about 720p with the OTA.
It was NEVER an issue.
The app used the wrong camera mode that locked to 22fps.
The sensor itself is capable.
Picture doesn't look bad, but the sound quality is appalling...

Yet on other videos the audio sounds amazing, unless they are shooting the video with the N4 and recording their voice with a professional mic outside which seems hightly unlikely

Im sure you can turn that feature off? Im using iPhone 4 atm waiting for my N4 and its fine
Also, YouTube has a feature where it does video stabilization which makes still images wavy..
This phone continues to amaze me. After discovering RAW still capture, now this.
Apparently the Huawei P9 Lite can record 2K and 4K* video. And to top that with a big juicy cherry, you can get bitrates as high as 70MBS, hovering around a 50MBPS constant. AT 2K resolution. This is quite impressive for a phone camera, I'm talking even flagship level.
I'm not even joking.
I mean why not?! Camera API2 supports 4K, the camera sensor supports 4K, I'm not entirely sure about the SoC, but the Kirin 650 is proving to be one of the better, albeit very comfortably mid-range, chips Huawei has produced.
Everyone can try this on their devices, completely hassle-free, safe, wihtout any mods. You do have to buy an app from the Play Store. It's about $13 and that's that. You install the app and choose your desired resolution in the app settings.
The app is called. FiLMiC Pro
A few remarks:
Be sure to have Crop source to overlay turned OFF when filming 2K, or 4K.
4K is TERRIBLE! It's really quite unusable. I've only been able to get around 5-8 FPS video at 4K. Choppy, lots of lost frames.
2K is however quite usable. Clean video, no missed frames, no artefacting.
I've only just found out this works, very accidentally and with a a lot of surprise and enthusiasm. I need to do a lot more test shots before I can form a solid opinion over the gains and benefits. For now I'm really very hyped and not sure if the difference I see is just placebo or not.
What's certain is that this means a lot for whoever's doing any serious filming with the Huawei P9 Lite. Higher bitrates, the ability to downscale 2K to 1080 for extra *MAGIC*... I can't wait to go out shooting video in real-case scenarios and do more testing on the stability and reliability of shooting at these resolutions.
I'd love for more of you to try this and shoot some video so we can compare findings and share opinions.

Also turns out this is my 1001st post on XDA. Yay.
Look at this screenshot.
And then try it yourself.

We're talking about the P9Lite here, not the P10Lite.
With the P9Lite, even with Camera2API enabled, the maximum resolution is still 1080.

Hi, has stabilization for 1080p 60 fps video been added or at least improved in latest updates. Who can confirm this ????
Never come OIS on 60 fps maybe!!! maybe eis possibble.but yet no
Saw this sample on youtube
It shows a well stabilized 60fps FHD video from the p20 pro.
Can anyone (having the latest soft update) test 60 fps FHD video Stabilization to figure out that

They can add a form of EIS but it'll never be brilliant, it's one of the reasons I wanted a new phone, the OnePlus 5 only had EIS, it's just not good enough.
With the pro though, 800 quid and no OIS throughout? Terrible to be honest.
Anyone has a credible explanation as to why OIS is not present at 1080 60? I can understand it not being available in higher resolutions but really at 1080 60, on a flagship with is marketed as (and by many agreed to be) the best camera phone of the market it's just not acceptable. Found out while waiting for my order to ship and am pretty pi$$ed.
Can we at least hope it will be added with a sw update in the future or it's not possible technically? Is the P20Pro sensor's OIS somehow bound to the 30fps?

P20 pro never had ois on its main camera, the rgb and mono. It only has ois on the telephoto 8mp lens to assist with too much vibration while zooming. The 1080p 30fps only uses eis/ais.

1080p @30fps has to be OIS??
I've been at the absolute maximum zoom limit whilst recording and the stabilization is amazing, if that's EIS then it's incredible and a lot better than any OIS i've ever seen on any device, I would say at 1080p 30fps it has OIS unless as i said it's got the best implementation of EIS i've ever seen.
Also @ the OP.
OIS by all accounts is available in the cameras on a hardware level but it's not been implemented, i read this a while ago about the p20 pro, whether or not they'll have this as a feature at some point I don't know, it wouldn't be unlike Huawei to add features but not make them active.

I read somewhere that the rgb and mono hardware moving is for autofocus not ois. It's ais (ai stabilizer) that making the recording good at stabilizing.
Oh not to mention xperia's steady shot is EIS and not OIS and it's pretty good.
So, if it's all digital, does it make even more sense to expect it being available in the future on resolutions greater than 1080 30? I mean at least 1080 60 should be standard in 2018 flagships!

Yes it's AIS. And Sony uses the same excellent stabilisation. Better than OIS hands down. I had Sony phone before. Just a shame that Huawei didn't implement it at 4k and at 60fps.

I wonder if those specs are true. Seems underwhelming to me if those specs were to be true.
Currently I use a Xiaomi Mi5s which (after a mod) shoots FullHD at 60fps. I expected a nex gen phone to have at least 4k 60fps.
Anyway, I know it is way to soon to know for sure, but does anyone have some hopes to mod the Mi8\SE the way to make it shoot at 60fps in 4k?
Thanks for any ideas.
PS: Is it true the Mi8\SE doesnt feature optical stabilization?
What you expect for a 240€ device? OIS with 4K @60fps? The Mi8 SE is nothing in compare to the Mi8. Forget UFS, OIS, dual GPS and so on.

I was asking if the MI8 had 4k 60fps or optical stabilization (maybe with the option to lower the frames to film 4k 30 to still have optical stabilization).
So, I rephrase my question:
1. Does the Mi8 have 4k 60fps? Some sites say yes, some say 4k 30fps.
2. Does the Mi8 have Optical Stabilization at all?
3. Does the Mi8 SE have the same camera/video specs (e.g. optical stabilization, etc.)?
I already own my Mi5s which can shoot 4k at 30fps.... -_-

The problem with 4k @60fps is you can just record few min. and the device get super hot.

But other devices can do it. Sure they cost a bit more, but that's what Mi-Devices are known for...to be outstanding. Oh well...have to wait for Mi9 or something...
I wonder if those 60fps can be unlocked somehow...i guess we have to wait for the xda devs to check out the device when released.
PS: Wait, FullHD at 30fps on the Mi8? That's a joke right?

You should be able to do it. Either by modifying just the media profile of the device or by modding the camera sensor libraries. However, modding libraries isn't an easy task but it's technically possible to do so if the sensor has the capabilities. If the device has a good and skilled developer community then someone will do it eventually. Also FYI, OP6 is the only new Android phone that can record at 4K on a stable 60 FPS and that's also with a 5 minute limitation. You're expecting too much bud.

Does anyone know if the SE (now that the source code has been released) could be modded for 4k 60fps?

60fps recording support is only added on the latest miui10 for some devices, i think we will have to wait a bit more for updated reviews. I'm more interested in the gps for the mi 8SE since it's now selling in my country for a little bit more than the price of mi 6x.

Yeah I meant for prolonged amount of times the way you can with 1080p, I think some OEM's think it isn't worth stressing the CPU out just for 3-5 mins of 4k footage
How about Zenfone 5z? Unlimited time 4k 60fps footage?
Have you tried opencamera app ?
I personally don't care about [email protected] however, we should have [email protected]
Any news about it with MIUI 10 ? The hardware should support it. :|

Hello guys,
I'm wondering about buying this year flagship from Huawei, but i'm very concerned about quality of slow motion videos, it looks really weak comparing to Galaxy S10. Do you think that P30 Pro will get any update that will repair/improve recording videos in slow motion ? Please write your thoughts about that. Best Regards.
I'll just say it, slomo is sht. At 120fps is pretty decent. Anything higher and it looks muddy and doesn't focus. If you kinda care about video recording, maybe wait for the s10 5g. It'll be the one to beat for now.

Yes, it isn't that bad, and actually focuses correctly.
As above, the slow mo is pants compared to other cameras. It doesn't record at 960fps properly, it actually records at 240fps and then interpolates the missing frames.
It can be best witnessed with something rotating. For example I shot this example video of a fidget spinner: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ET1X4yPteuCpkJ8d7
As you can see when the slow mo kicks in, the surrounding areas of movement are a little blurry because the software is doing what it can. Admittedly, for an interpolated video it's quite impressive, but compared to a 'full-fat' 960fps video it just looks lack-lustre.

The Huawei technology (despite supposedly using the Sony sensor) isn't half as good IMO.
