Hi guys! Managed to get the Moto G4 boot logo working in a flashable zip! Really happy about this as its a nice little boot logo. All you need to do is boot into TWRP and then flash the zip. REMEMBER: Wipe/clear dalvik cache. This is important! Then reboot and it should look like the image below.

Don't know why this is appearing on a Moto X Play thread, but I'm curious: Did you flash this to a Moto X Play?

Anyone can flash custom logo compatible to their phones. This moto g4 logo can be flashed to moto x play as the developer said .
Excuse me , I sold my x play and bought new Nexus phone . Don't reply me please.

So sorry if I'm not following your explicit request about me not replying you, but not everyone can flash (with flashable zip) custom logo even if compatible with their phones; that's why I'm asking if you actually flashed this (or any other, for that matter) logo to an X Play of your very own. You know, I've been reading (aside from my personal negative experience) that some other X play owners are indeed having some big time trouble flashing boot logo via recovery, so if you actually managed to do that, well... that's big time interesting case. Now, if you don't feel like that, don't reply me please... BTW, congratulations about the new Nexus phone.

Hi, I am the developer of this and I am now on a HTC phone so not spending much time on this forum anymore unfortunately! I don't know much about these errors of flashing but I am sure if you wipe cache/dalvik cache it should be fine? What TWRP are you using? Have you tried Philz Mod? I can't really suggest anything else. And the reason why its appearing on these forums is because some people don't want to have the stock Moto X Play one, change and modify their devices! Thanks.

Well, I must say... thanks for the reply. Ok, I'm aware people change and modify their devices, me I do it myself like there's no tomorrow (if not, why we should root?) indeed. I'm using TWRP 302-r3... maybe I should try Philz as you suggest. Reason why I said "what is this doing here?" is because I was looking into Moto X Play forums and your post is clearly entitled "Moto G4 boot logo", thus my 'confusion'. Originally, I just wanted to know if you have (had) Moto X Play device and managed to flash boot logo via recovery, since I haven't found anyone else able to do that. There you have it. You know, flashable zips are very practical because we can make changes 'on the go' without the need of a PC. Since I try a lot of boot logo stuff (among other things) your ability to flash logo.bin via flashable zip into Moto X Play, really caught my attention. Whatever, thanks again. And congratulations about the HTC. I had some. Particularly miss that Amaze 4g, despite of the fact that I've barely unplugged it because of lame battery performance and that once S-off and rooted, it heated like hell. And I really, really mean it...

Hey,
It would be great if you could provide the new moto display and other moto apps updates as on moto g4 and moto z series.
The updates for the same are not being provided from motorola, so i was hoping if you could get these for us it would be great because the new apps are much better especially the moto display app with the new fonts and all....it just looks great.
Please provide these apps if you can.
Thanks in advance!
Removed the bootloader unlock warning in my Moto g4 Play. Thanks!
Tip:
Do not flash it on 5.5 inch devices. It will brick your device then

Why would it be a deal breaker? Having S-On only means that you have to flash the boot.img manually which takes approx 5 seconds to do. You can still root and flash custom roms etc...

Well, I had a One X for a while and flashing the boot everytime a new rom version was released or changing roms got a bit annoying after a while. I also like being able to flash a rom without being connecting to a PC to fastboot.

Yeah "a bit annoying", that's as far as it goes. As for being a deal breaker, I don't think so.
Some roms don't require you to flash the boot.img manually, such as ARHD
Wasn't there an app that would allow you to flash the boot.img from the phone itself? I think I remember seeing it mentioned on the AT&T HOX boards, but I never used it.
They should stickie the soff issue so users don't need to ask.

S-ON and locked bootloader is also what kept me away from this phone, starting on Samsung now and just going to port sense over.
This device can flash boot.img's, kernels, whatever from recovery. Unlike the one x with it's tegra processor. s-off doesn't really give you any benefits EXCEPT being able to downgrade firmware if you choose to do so.

No sorry. I haven't used it yet, few more weeks to wait for mine. But, with a Qualcomm processor you can flash kernels from recovery just fine. Look at ROMs like renovate for example, everything is from recovery now. I just don't see s off being a have to have thing like it was a couple years back with devices like the dhd. Tho s off could be useful to downgrade software ( flash an old ruu) or to change the unlocked flag back to locked for warranty purposes. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a s off one ** fingers crossed**

Anybody who wants to flash custom kernels, should know the basic workings of ADB and fastboot. Some devs modify the ramdisk with their kernel, which can cause issues, if you decide to then flash another dev's kernel. A simple fastboot flash boot boot.img, will restore the stock ramdisk and save you a lot of grief.
This is an old build! Please see the updated build (1.29.651.10) located here.
Here is an almost stock 1.29.651.7 ROM, both Odex and Deodex, based on my Sprint One system dump. I flashed both and everything appears to work fine. If anyone finds an issue, I will correct it and re-upload. You can flash this right after you flash TWRP (read below), as this has root and system rw protection already disabled (read here).

Pretty excited to see you here Viper, always liked both your and mikey's roms on my various phones. Happy to see you come over!
So at this point is there any value in waiting for root/s-off without dev unlock or should we just take the plunge when our phones get here Friday? I had S-off on my 4GLTE but read there were issues for those that had to S-on/dev unlock. Just don't want to be in that position although I don't know much about what they had to deal with specifically.
Thanks again for creating roms!

It's always nice to have S-OFF, but right now, it doesn't seem like it's going to be a big deal. I worked around the goofyness of recovery not being able to write the boot.img, I do it a different way and know it works for sure so there should be no issues when flashing ROMs.
As far as wifi tether, I just fired it up. Grabbed the latest from the Play Store, and changed 3 settings to make it work.
Settings > Change Device Profile > Generic ICS/JB (wlan0)
Check MSS Clamping
Check Routing fix
I also enable access control so I can see who is connecting, but I successfully got my computer to get online by using this.

I'm not sure what you're asking, but I think I quite clearly explained how this was different from "out of the box" in the first post.
The only other thing that would be different is that it's missing some apps that were in /data/app. HTC thought it would be a good idea to put these apps there (for whatever reason) but when you dev unlock, it wipes data and those apps. This was a problem on the International One as well. I will try to get that fixed here too, but I don't remember the apps being anything too important.

Sorry for the super newb question but would it be possible for someone to write up a basic guide on how to get this working (rooting then installing one of these stock ROMs from this thread)? I am use to having a device with a microSD card slot so not quite sure how to flash zips especially after doing a superwipe. From what I gather, the steps go something like this:
1. HTC dev unlock
2. Use the Toolkit to flash TWRP
3. Use the Toolkit to "Perm Root." Does this just push SuperSU.zip to the device then do I need to actually go in and run it from recovery? Or will it do that automatically?
4. Do a superwipe. Do I just copy the superwipe file to the device then run it from recovery? I assume this file completely wipes the device so not even the OS is present?
5. Install the deodex or odex ROM from this thread but how do I do that without a microSD card slot?
Again, sorry about all the basic questions but if someone wouldn't mind coming up with a detailed step by step guide for the newbs, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hahaha i remember this anime <3 yea i agree. i didnt understand what he said.
I had the same problem and I found a simple solution: Just flash Zaiben RC6 Rom. To do so you do not need to be on a stock rom version. So just flash it in your recovery and you're back on a stock (but modified) rom. Now you can enable the LG Software connection mode and your 4X HD can be used again with the LG PC software and if you want you can flash an original, unmodified stock rom. That's it!

Oh and you can install stock recovery with the All In One tool. Now it will recognize your phone again!

No idea. People seem determined to make things hard for themselves just because they are too lazy to read or too stubborn to actually follow the instructiins to the letter.

It is strange that people messed with their devices while they don't even know how to go back to stock if something went wrong.
Bottom line: Don't do something if you don't know how to undo it. :banghead:

Thanks for this, but what I don't understand at the moment for sure, if I need Windows to flash the orignal STOCK-ROM at the end. SInce I use linux, using windows is a little bit complicated for me.. I will give Zaiben a try. I tried Moltenmotherboard and Blisspop, both 5.1..1. Both ROMs work fine as long as you don't use gps in foreign countries with no dataplan and maybe there can occure reboots or shutdowns with no gsm.-reception and the phone is searching for an network. It is mysterious, since it can happen, but it must not. So I will give Zaiben a try, let's see what happens then.
So my situation is that I have previously bricked my phone, sent it to HTC for flashing and now after that, I am unable to install the OTA update for Sense 6. The download is fine, verification is fine, only at the installation part where the blue bar will go up to about 30+% then it will give me a red exclaimation mark error where it will then restart and the version will be as of before.
Things I've tried: clearing Updater cache and resetting phone both didn't work. I saw something about resetting the cache in the recovery or something but I realised that I have no recovery in my bootloader. Is that normal or is that something HTC forgot to add in after they reflash the rom for me?
Thanks for any help given.

I came back from cyanogenmod. Didn't really like it cause the camera was quite bad. And the battery life is about the same as the stock also.

Do you have access to someone elses device, the calc and flashlght were initially in the data partition, so you can copy from them. There are blown away when you unlock the boot loader.

this is really odd.. none of the links in the thread seem to be working (The dropbox ones at least) however I've just downloaded a SkyDragon M7 v2.0 ROM, is it possible to extract the .apk files from there instead? sorry for the late reply, btw, Tapatalk didn't notify me..

Thanks, recovery works fine on D410H.
You need to add on the title of this thread that this WILL NOT work on the D415. If you flash that aboot on the D415, it will permanently kill the phone.

Yes, I tried it and if not for my warranty, I'd be using a Nokia Lumia 521 right now....ewww. [emoji37]
To explain, what I did was follow the instructions and flashed the aboot from that site. Even @evoname warns that it doesn't work on the D415.
@Lady
so a wrong aboot bricks your Phone, Not my recovery right? for me i tryed different l90 kernels for recovery compiling and every Works. i think there must be an kdz for your D415 right? i had an brick to and could only unbrick with kdz File an and an Flash Tool thats made for G2 .named flashtool 2014 or something Else.
edit:
checked sources again , and this TWRP must work on D415, because other users confirmed that my Philz touch works on D415 and its uses the same kernel like this twrp, so if someone is smart enough please test this twrp recovery on an ROOTED D415 WITH UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER, it must work...
Thx
Regards
I can confirm that this recovery does work on T-Mobile D415 just fine.
I extracted the zip and used ROM installer to flash recovery.

The recovery works because it's a 2nd init recovery. That kind of recovery works on phones with locked bootloaders just fine. If I didn't mention it before, the OP states that you need an unlocked bootloader. To do that, the aboot needs to be flashed (which I did and I bricked...LOL.) The aboot flash located in that cyanogenmod link is what you need to avoid. If you use a D415, sorry to give you the bad news, but the bootloader is locked. Maybe the OP can remove the requirement of needing an unlocked bootloader because it does work as 2nd init.
