Can the sprint lg g4 be rooted on the latest firmware? - Sprint LG G4

I don't own a LG g4 but my buddies does and he isn't experienced with rooting/unlocking phones and has a LG g4, and was saying "there was a root method but it got patched before he could try it."
If there is a way to do it could you please link me to it?
Thanks

Are you sure he wasn't referring to the ZV6 root? Currently you can't root anything above ZV6. If you have ZVA or earlier, you can use LGUP or whatever it's called to revert back to ZV6, then root.
If your phone is patched to ZVB, which is the current version, then you cannot root, and also you cannot roll back to ZVA to perform a root, and are stuck. The only option for ZVB is to install the mellowmallow ROM.

Flashing OTA from ZV4

I just got a new G4 from Sprint that oddly enough is still on ZV4. However, I do want to update it to either zv5 or zv6 and not to zv9, the ota it is currently prompting me to install. Is there any way to do so? Thanks in advance.
I have all the files and everything is setup to flash ZV5 with the TOT. I just need clarification as to whether or not it is safe to do this. I've tried searching but haven't found anything concrete.

This should work as most problems occur when you decide to downgrade. Like how you can't downgrade to ZV5 if you're on ZV6 or ZV9 but going from ZV4 to ZV5 shouldn't be a problem!

Thanks for the clarification. I went ahead and upgraded using the TOT for ZV5 without a hitch, rooted and sim unlocked it successfully as well. I just could not find anything that made me confident the TOT could be used to upgrade. I knew it could be used to restore if you were already on the version corresponding to the TOT, and I didn't want to risk bricking this awesome phone. Now I know TOT's can be used to upgrade.

Need some answers

I'm on 4.4.2 ls995zvb I rooted with stump root but my phone is saying it isn't rooted, how can I go back to stock 4.4.2 and reroot and what should I use to reroot.. I don't wanna brick my phone as it's the only phone I have till my upgrade
The downgrade wont be necessary.
I inadvertently UNrooted my LS995 by allowing the ota from ZVA to ZVB. Got it rerooted with this:

Don't worry that it says for G3 and such...it worked for me fine. Just follow the directions that come with it.
You'll need custom recovery. TWRP 2.8.5.0 is latest recommended for this phone. Use Flashify from PlayStore to flash JUST THE .IMG FILE, NOT THE WHOLE ZIP.
These methods got my Flex back on track with being rooted with custom recovery, and updating to ZVB.
Hope it helps...
Peace,
Sox
So that didnt work i need to go back to stock android how can i do this thankz in advance.

Updating G4 to MM help.

My LG G4 (TMobile h811 10n) is rooted running stock ROM. I want to update to MM and try it out but I'm not sure if I could just install the update over the ROM. Will doing this brick my phone? Is there a way to unroot the phone and then install the update, or can I just do a factory reset? I don't mind losing root either so if I have to then thats fine.

LG repaired my phone...and upgraded it to ZVC

So as the title suggests, I lost my files, root, xposed, everything.
When I first got my phone it was on like ZV5 or something, whichever one you could dd an image after injecting root. This one came loaded with ZVC, so I'm unable to stay on the easily rooted version obviously. Am I basically stuck now? Or is there a way to root ZVB after rolling back (as I understand it, trying to roll back further results in hard brick) ?

You cannot downgrade past ZVB on the LS991. You can flash ZVB, but nothing earlier. ZVB and ZVC has anti-rollback, and if it sees anything older than ZVB it will brick.

... Yeah. That's not what I was asking. I know (as I said) that I can't roll back past ZVB. I was asking if ZVB can be rooted if I roll back to it, or if I'm stuck with unrooted ZVC because LG decided to update my phone without asking?

You cannot root your phone. There is no root for it on ZVB or ZVC.

If you want root down the road but aren't ready to root now

Would it be wise to update past 11g on tmo LG g6?
In other words can the LG g6 be downgraded
Thanks!
I've never heard of a way that you can downgrade without root, especially with fastbpot commands being removed. Root requires TWRP and I believe the latest firmware that has been confirmed rooted was 11G. If you ever want to root, I wouldn't take the upgrades.
You can always flash the 11g kdz if the anti rollback number is the same
