Cell information - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I disable the cell information notification from the status bar?

I'm chiming in as well. I could remove it in Lollipop but I can't take it off in Marshmallow. Screen estate is already way too small, I can't have a notification taking up a slot like that

[Q] Hide status bar but still see incoming notifications

Hi,
I was wondering if there was a way to hide the status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear just when I receive a notification (so I can see the preview on the status bar).
Also, is there a way to hide my status bar in my homescreens but have it reappear by tapping the area where it would normally be?
I have looked for a way to do this but I have only found methods of completely hiding the status bar without being able to see it when necessary...
Thanks.
Has anyone found a way to do this?
I don't know if this is what you mean, but I use ADW (the paid one) and I have my status bar hidden and the home button pulls the notifications down when I want to see/check. If I get a notification, it doesn't stay down, but it is simple to hit the home button, check notifications and then slide it back up.
I was actually looking for something that would either:
1) show me the notification alert at the top of the screen even when I have hidden the status bar OR
2) allow me to see the status bar whenever I want (possibly a button press/gesture/etc.)
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Adw launcher or go-laucnher can do that.
hide the notification bar, use gesture to hide/unhide it
Yea ADW- Launcher does this. You can hide the notification bar permanently but then set a gesture to swipe down/up and you get it to pop up like it was always there. Do the same swipe and it goes away.
OK, thats good to know.
Thanks for the help.

I don't like the new "heads-up" notifications

Honestly.. I have to say it, I think Google went backwards by putting these intrusive notifications that pop up. "Heads-up"
Firstly, it destroys any sense of privacy, everybody in the near vicinity can read notifications that pop up.
Secondly, it's simply more intrusive to the interface than the messages that used to conveniently scroll in the status bar. Even when they introduced immersive mode (full screen).. The status bar could still popup and display messages, less intrusively than these ugly white/gray pop up boxes.
I think they should have an option/toggle to turn off/on "pop up" notifications.
I much prefer the previous notification system from pre-5.0
The scrolling ticker in the notification bar was discreet, descriptive, aesthetic and less intrusive.
Any way to turn these ugly pop ups off??
Edit:
Thankfully lots of ppl agree with me:

This kind of thing starts to become an issue as some people like it (myself) and other people do not. I had been BEGGING for heads up notifications from gingerbread on... I hope Google never goes back, personally. I love them because you get a preview of the content and then you just swipe it away and keep doing what you're doing. With the text that used to scroll by for messages in the old system sometimes I would miss part of the message and have to go into the app to read it all.
What I do agree with is a toggle!

[Q] notification bar icon question

Hi all z3c user,
I have a question about the icon on the notification bar. I have installed a newspaper app, if there are some news to alert me, it will pop up an icon and have a notification message in the notification panel.
If there are a first alert but I still not clear it, then if the second alert received, the icon in notification bar has only one, and the notification panel will have two messages until I clear it, then they will gone.
The problem is, the same app, installed other than SONY device, e.g. LG/Samsung, they will have one icon for one message, that means they will have 2 same icon when they received two alerts, but I found that SONY ROM will group the icon into one, so that I need to pull down the notification panel to see how many alert received.
Anyone know how to "ungroup" the icon? Thanks.
By the way, not only this app, some football score apps have the same problem.
no one have idea?
It's a SystemUI thing, meaning it's hardcoded. Sony made it this way, other vendors are doing it the other way. Some custom ROMs have the ability to toggle this behaviour, but on stock there's nothing to do. IMHO, grouping is better because it doesn't waste so much space on the notification bar for same types of notifications. If I get 1 email, I really don't mind knowing there's actually 5 at the first glance, but I'll see that immediately when I pull down the notification bar anyway.

Thanks for your reply. But do you know is it able to change some settings or parameters in systemui.apk?

Touch Lollipop statusbar without triggering notification shade?

Hello again,
there is another thing which bugs me in Lollipop, and perhaps one of the hardworking Xposers has a solution
When I touch the status bar, always the notification shade pops out and the rest of the screen darkens, regardless of where I touch the status bar.
This is markedly different than in previous Android versions, and it makes certain actions impossible or at least awkward:
- I want to set brightness by sweeping along the status bar (an old Samsung stock feature which is enabled in other devices by Gravitybox Xposed module). If the notification shade pops out, I can't see how bright the screen now is, because it is darkened when notification shade is activated...
- I want to use statusbar gestures (in "Gesture Navigation" Xposed module).
Is there a Xposed module which restores the old behavior (i.e., notification shade is only activated when pulling down finger from statusbar)?
Or a possibility to set some values in system files oder something like that?
Thanks in advance,
Hasenbein
No one an idea?
The app "Pin Tasking" is able to reserve one third of the status bar for its own swipe gesture (which but can only trigger the app's own actions), so what I want is definitely possible...
For all who are interested in this issue:
At least with Serajr's "Xperia Xposed" module it's possible to swipe along the status bar for setting brightness without the screen darkening.

notifications in status bar on lock screen

Just like the topic says..
I want to retain notifications in the status bar.
I want to be able to pull down my notification shade on the lock screen to see my text message notification so that I can open, reply or ignore it.
Has anyone been able to make this possible?
