Hi,
I am considering to buy a S5 mini - but I would like to use custom ROMs and root. Now I read that the S5 useses KNOX and that there is also a KNOX-counter (seems to be 2 different things).
Is there a way to get root without changing the KNOX-counter?
And - is there also a way to get a custom recovery without changing the KNOX-counter?
(this are 2 different questions and I would love to get an answer for both seperately ...)
It seems like there is no method to get the KNOX counter back from 0x1 but there seems to be a method to get - at least root - without changing the KNOX-counter.
I had been searching around quite a bit but could not really find a definitve answer - plus: I am not a native speaker but consider my english as quite good - but the phrase: "trip KNOX-counter" which is often used in this context (e. g. here) confuses me (checking trip in a dictionary gives you just some funny results) - I assume it means the counter is changed (i. e. ++1)?
regards
at this moment there is no way to get the s5 flashed without void break in the KNOX-counter.

Hi,
thanks for the answer.
I assume that applies to recovery and root? And I also assume that we both are talking about the S5 mini?

ofcourse s5 mini, and yea, flashin a root kernel and custom recovery will touch the knox counter
Kingroot seems to not trigger Knox on the mobiles i have tried(S3 and S4-I9505 and S4-I9506) and (LG Leon), atm i am waiting for s5 mini to arrive and i will test it.
I got a trick to flash recovery without knox counter trip on the other mobiles too which i will try on s5 mini also, i will report back tommorow or the day after.
Try Kingroot at your own risk as always, through it is only root and not recovery too.

I tried latest Kingroot (4.9.3 as of yesterday from apkmirror.com) and no deal (G800H latest ZTO 5.1.1 version, BPE1 basebabd)... If you're successful with your other method, please post. Thank you.

I wrote before: G800H.
I think the list of supported phones lists G800 for the stock KitKat 4.4.2 ROM only, it doesn't work on 5.1.1.
sm-g800f kingroot works without trip knox, my knox is still 0x0, but i cannot get recovery on the same way as the older galaxy with Rashr or Flashify.

Hello everyone,
I am a bit of a newbie concerning android. I've just bought a galaxy s3 (SHV-E210S) in S. Korea.
I've found a great topic about how to root my phone but I still have a big question to which i didn't find any answer yet :
once I have rooted my phone using the CF-Auto root method (which is described as the easiest method to root), what do I need to do to install a custom firmware?
Thanks for your help and have a great day!

You read and follow the instructions for the custom firmware you choose .
It would pay you to read the faqs and guides before blundering into trouble .

Thanks for your answer.
What i meant is can I install a custom firmware directly after having rooted with the CF-Auto Root method or do I need to install a custom recovery too?

CF Auto-Root doesn't include custom recovery so you need to install it separately or use MobileOdin Pro instead.
CF Auto Root for Galaxy S3 SHV E210S
Hello All,
I need to root (just root) my Galaxy S3 SHV E210S which runs on KSJMF1 (Samsung Official Firmware)
Can i use the CF-Auto root from this link ?
download.chainfire.eu/273/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-c1skt-c1skt-shve210s.zip
Also, Does the same CF-Auto-Root can be used to root all firmwares of SHV E210S (Say, KSJLL6) ?
Pl clarify.
Thanks.

If you want the custom Rom as zip ( such as CM10.1 ) . you must have the custom recovery first .
i got a question about flashing my S3-E210S is running on stock rom and is locked. i downloaded the official Samsung E210S firmware latest update for Samsung and planning to flash my S3-E210S with it. my question is, can i use odin v3.04 in flashing the official stock firmware? Or i still have to root the phone?
Problems: S3-E210S
* Can't use camera "Security Policy restricts the use of Camera"
* Cannot Use Bluetooth also restricted
* cannot mount memory card also restricted.
Files i got:
1. SKT-E210SKSJMF1-20130604110212
2. Odin v3.04
My S3-E210 about info:
Model Number: SHV-E210S
Android Version: 4.1.2
Baseband Version: E210SKSMD2
Anyone can answer though...
You need to reed the basics first .
Root has nothing to do with stock rom flashing .
Standard stock rom is via Odin .

So, where can I get working recovery tool for my Galaxy S3 LTE E210S? It's running with kitkat 4.4.4. Do a favor for me!
Hello, I have Samsung S3 Mini - model 730A. I managed to get my phone rooted, but unable to install TWRP via ODIN3; it says "fail" with red color on it. Why?
Thanks.
I think you accidentally might have chosen the version for the GT-I8190.

Verizon and ATT Samsung S3 mini smartphones are version 730A. The differences:
1) Locked bootloader. Hardwired - I think.
2) 1.2 Ghz as opposed to 1 Gz as found in other S3 mini model.
That's pretty much it. I think.

Ok, for me:
1) Locked bootloader. Hardwired - I think.
=> Have you search an thread on XDA for an alternative root method for this model ?
The basic hardware unlocked method don't work (for me), so if i am you, i will search how to unlock 730A bootloader locked..
Do you understand ?

Many people are having the same issue.
Hello everyone,
I have a Galaxy S5 Active - SM-G870F with Android version 5 and I want to root my device, however on chainfire`s site I find auto root only for 4.4.2 version
My questions are:
Will it be ok to root my device v5 with auto root zip for version 4.4.2?
Other way around would be to use G900F (standart galaxy s5)`s model zip for rooting, will this be okay, and which option is best?
Thanks in advance for your time and attention.
Well, I took the risk and can confirm SM-G870F S5 Active with Android vesrion 5.0 with the latest stock firmware for Europe from sammobile (25 Jul 2015) can be rooted with cf-auto-root for version 4.4.2.

How is this related to at&t phones?

danielsgl, this is not related to at&t phones but for the european s5 active - g870f model, my thread was posted elsewhere but a moderator moved it. It seems that this subforum is the only place where s5 active topics could be posted.

Friends, colleagues and colleagues.
I hope you can help me in the next problem. I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Flat G920A from AT & T. I updated it via ADB to Nougat 7.0, but the truth is that it gives me little performance in screen usage, it would be as long as 3 hours, so I want to downgrade it, I remember when I updated Nougat I had to find the official AT & T ROM Stock that Was compatible to be able to update ie download the ROM that mentioned my previous BASEBAND followed by TO and then named the new BASEBAND.
It was something like that.
ANCIENT BASEBAND? TO G920AUCU6EQCF.
Now my question is the following as I can know which file I should flasehar on my G920A to return to MARSHMALLOW ask because I do not want to cause a softbrick or hardbrick to my device.
