My coworker has a stock AT&T S5 on 5.0 (USA). When she hits the OTA update, it says it's up to date. ...on 5.0. I plugged it into my PC running Smart Switch. It also said it was up to date.
Hasn't this variant been on 5.1.1 since late October? If so, does anyone know how to get it to 5.1.1 without rooting? I'm assuming Odin the stock firmware. But I wanted to check with you guys first.

Is she using AT&T service? The phone will not update unless there is an AT&T sim card in the phone.

She's on AT&T service. Think it could be a bad Sim card?

I just check and this method is available for now for Samsung galaxy S5 AT&T version. You need to use KIES 3.
Try it take pics and report back. Thanks!
If you can confirm, you could possibly, one day, be on a list of heroes to us all.

I restored my Att S5 and there is conformation of one person in thread too. Just not sure if after last AT&T update will work or will brick your phone.

I think the 4.4.4 is a required prereq to lollipop. So we will get lollipop soon they just decided to stagger the two updates, someone said 2/4 as a rumor for lollpop in another thread

I'm sure it is too, except they won't release 5.0 for another 4-6 months. (Like the 4.4.2->4.4.4 upgrade)
Has anyone with an active gotten an update yet? Just curious
I got the update tonight on my active

We can just flash the new ota zip right ? We don't need to flash the T-Mobile radio too? Will this be the same ota we get in like six months cuz Verizon sucks ???

you can flash, but more providers will get otas within the next week or two, not months.
But will there be a difference from most of them ?. It'll all be 5.1.1

I'm on the new LYZ28E build and am on Verizon but I will certainly be changing over to the build released for Verizon phones in the coming weeks whenever it comes out.
Do you use vvm on the T-Mobile ota ???
Sent from my Nexus 6 using XDA Free mobile app
Just my observation don't use the new radio firmware from this ota if you're on Verizon. Couldn't get a signal for over 5 min literally under a Verizon tower. Went back to the .98(or whatever the stock radio is for a vzw branded Nexus 6).
Anyone on Verizon that's using new T-Mobile ota please let me know if you use stock vzw vvm. And if it works.

I'm on Verizon and flashed new tmo radio and my signal is better..but didn't flash bootloader

Everything works fine on this new T-Mobile ROM for verizon users. All apps including vvm FYI. So when Verizon makes the new 5.1.1 ota idk what will be the benefit or reflashing to that.

While debating getting a new device after the Zenfone 2 not working out (looking for a dual SIM Lollipop phone)I am back to my Note 3 and am considering the upgrade except I can't find it. I have Smart Switch on my desktop and tried looking there too besides the usual place within settings on the phone but to no avail. Smart Switch does not show an available update. So all I got through settings was the most recent KK update dated in August. What am I missing? Didn't AT&T roll this out to customers? Why can't I find it? I don't want to root or do a custom ROM as I don't know what I'm doing in those areas and can't afford to brick my phone. Is Lollipop worth it on the Note 3?

Thanks. I did see that thread before. I meant did AT&T officially roll this out as an available update and if so, why isn't it showing up an available update? To be honest, I don't know the procedure above well enough to put Lollipop on to my Note 3 and I don't want to screw it up, especially after going through the ordeal I did with my Zenfone. I don't want to lose LTE on it, and so forth-I'd like it to be the official AT&T version. So the thing is-did AT&T actually roll it out? They seemed to, and my question is, if they did, why can't I download it through the normal software update channels then?
Sent from my K010 using XDA Free mobile app
Yes it is official att software and are you on att network with an att Sim card if not you won't get ota from them you can also go to best buy and have them flash the most current software for you
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
Thanks. Yes. I'm on AT&T and it's an AT&T SIM card in the phone. So it's weird that it's not presenting me with an official OTA option. The SIM is provisioned for the Note 3. But thanks for the suggestion to go to Best Buy. I forget all about their Samsung section. They flashed an update once before for me when I was having problems. I forgot all about them.Next week though I'm likely getting a new phone so I may wait until I confirm that the new phone works out.

Well, there is a release delay in the phone I'm planning to get so I did go to BB today and they gave me the Lollipop update. Thanks for the tip as I'll be using my Note 3 a little longer than planned, so I figured why not upgrade. It still was weird that AT&T servers weren't giving me the update being I have a proper AT&T SIM card and phone bought from them in thd first place. Go figure.

I have found Lollipop to be just fine on the Note 3. No issue with battery life. Am getting my new phone today finally so have enjoyed Lollipop.Note 3 is still a fine phone. Can't complain-just looking for dual SIM at a reasonable price point.

This thread is for people who have/or will have success updating to Android Marshmallow 6 using Samsung’s Smart Switch program.
I am outside of the US.
*UPDATE*
10/09/2016 joking.
*UPDATE*
08/09/2016 I'm buying an iPhone 7.
*UPDATE*
30/07/2016 No one has reported successfully updating to 6.0 Android Marshmallow via Smart Switch.
My Galaxy S6 Active is currently running 5.1.1 and Smart Switch says Your device software is up to date OJE (ATT).
I will update as soon as I can update via Smart Switch and if anyone else has success with Smart Switch please post.
Thank you
US outsider's only option is update via ODIN or sideload. That's all, dont expect updating via Smart Switch.
I'm in the USA. I have a MAC so I can't the sideload option. I'm waiting for the Smart Switch.
No luck yet

I was stateside last week and used an ATT GoPhone SIM to get my S6A up to PCG, but nothing past that, not even the new PDS. Smart Switch kept telling me I had the most current version.
FWIW, ATT.com still shows 5.1.1 is the only version available, not 6.0.1.

AND still nothing as of now
Hey guys, stumbled across this site trying to update my S6 Active to Marshmallow. I'm new to Android (got this phone back in January, never really explored its potential much) and I'm using a mac along with Smart Switch to try and update my phone. I'm in the US, but my phone won't even show up after updating all the drivers, enabling USB debugging in developer options, etc. Without making a new thread, I was wondering if you guys might be able to help me out.
I'm in the USA and Smart Switch does not have 6.0 available. Seems like troll posts as I have seen this claim since February.
Smart switch never did work for me. I tried it up until the last second, then got 6.01 OTA.

The OTA just popped up, but Smart Switch is still saying the software is up to date. Mine is doing the exact same thing right now; OTA is downloading, Smart Switch says I'm up to date.

I'm outside the USA as well and not with ATT. I was on 5.1.1-PCG, I was able to update to that version while I was stateside in May. It popped up with the OTA to 6.0.1 yesterday, so I assume you have to be on that version for the OTA to pop up.
I do have another S6A on OJE that is not popping up with the MM update, I'm going to try and update it to PCG via the other thread and see if I can get the OTA to pop that way. It keeps telling me that I'm on the most current version with OJE, kinda weird that I could update from PCG but not from OJE... It also says it's the most current version with Smart Switch...
