Help marshmallow update 920A - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6

Im on BOI2 firmware unlocked att 920A. How i can update my phone to latest mm build would be able to retain unlock status which was done officially?

I don't think that will affect your sim unlocking status. If your phone was officially unlocked by at&t there won't be a problem upgrading it to MM.

Probably dumb question about unlocking/unrooting

I have an AT&T Nexus 6 and would love to get on Marshmallow. Can I unlock and root the phone and then install 6.0 (6.0.1) and then relock and unroot it and get back Android pay and OTA updates? I just don't want to have to reinstall for every monthly security update but I am tired of waiting on AT&T for the 6.0 OTA.
Thanks
you don't need root to get marshmallow but you do need an unlocked bootloader. Just download the latest factory image for N6 that'd be build MMB29K 6.0.1 and flash it. Unlocking your bootloader will wipe your phone and starting with the N6 so will locking it back! But you do not need to relock it for android pay or any other similar things. And honestly I'd recommend leaving bootloader unlocked because you can fix nearly any issue with a nexus phone.

You don't have to root to flash factory images, you only have to oem unlock (permanent) There are a number of threads around here on how to proceed. I don't think there are issues unlocking ATT but check into it. Once it is unlocked, just leave it that way. When the phone first came out people were getting into issues when they tried relocking the phone, not sure if that is the case now. Mine was unlocked since I got it. This will wipe your user data so back up anything you want to keep... one time deal.

how to update at&t xt1097 to stock marshmallow

hi everyone! i have at&t moto x 2014 xt1097 curruntly at stock 5.1 with locked bootloader. i want to update it with stock marshmallow firmware but can't find it at the motofirmware centre (at least not for at&t version). any help will be appreciated.
There is no at&t marshmallow firmware.
If you did not accept the security updates from October (Android security patch level 2016-08-01), then you can use Kingroot and Sunshine ($ 25) to temp-root and bootloader unlock your device, and install some non-at&t firmware, see Root and Bootloader Unlock AT&T XT1097 on 5.1.
If you're device is patched, then this path is closed and you are out of luck.

unfortunately i have the updates installed. i heard that to install any motorola stock firmware the only requirment was unlocked bootloader. do i have to root too? or just unlock bootloader?
Your information is correct. But you cannot simply unlock this bootloader. The At&t xt1097 bootloader cannot be unlocked through the Motorola service.

Firmware question

Hello, guys! I`m using my s6 at&t in Ukraine, and it works perfectly with my sim. Firmware is 5.1.1 Is it possible to install 6.x and it is possible to get my phone locked to at&t after installin it? thanks in advance
I doubt that if your phone is a unlocked phone also known as a sim unlock phone that is that it can be used with any carrier would get locked due to a software update. Since you mentioned that you are in Ukraine and if it works with the local sim that means that the phone is a sim unlocked phone and would probably not be affected by a software update.
Also just use odin to update the phone

Bootloader & Sims Unlocked Stock AT&T 4.4.X Moto X, precaution to take for update ?

Bootloader & Sims Unlocked Stock AT&T 4.4.X Moto X, precaution to take for update ?
Hi, i got this AT&T Moto X (Ghost) running stock 4.4.X with already unlocked bootloader and sim unlocked from ebay year ago. The one was starting to be very energy unefficiant, battery was not lasting while in sleep mode for all the day. Ordered a new battery and my step father allowed me to change the roms. So i plan to install mokee 5.1.1 because it would be use with car bluetooth for call.
My question's the following, i used titanium backup to freeze update year ago, since mokee 5.1.1 need the 5.1 modem from AT&T, how do i manually update this model ? I live in Canada and the network's Rogers, so it need to stay sim unlocked and i since i want to change roms, i don't want to lose the bootloader unlock. There's that thread in dev that got all official 5.1 stock roms, if i take the roms and flash it on lastest twrp, do i keep sims & bootloader unlocked ? Thank you.
flashing the stock firmware doesn't effect the bootloader but yes some At&t moto x sim locked after update to lollipop [emoji517]
So safely you have to flash modem (non-hlos.bin) and fsg.mbn
Note : some moto x At&t after relocked will not unlock with official unlock code then you have to use unlocking tools
So be careful

Do you means i cannot update the modem without losing the sims unlock ? ATM, i only plan to flash an updated modem and a custom roms. The customs roms i want to use require the new modem for lolipop. I have been using the search function on xda for hour and doing search on google without anybody saying anything about flashing new modem for AT&T Moto X. If the Sims get locked again, how do i unlock my Sims to use in Canada ? Thank you.

If unfortunately your moto x get locked and not accepting any unlocking codes so it doesn't matter there is many paid tools which unlock your phone if you don't have those tools so give it to any software service center tell them that after update it was locked and they will unlock it easily

Ok, which tools can i use to unlock sim for free in the case it get locked back again. I don't want to say to my step father that i fudged the updating process after i did it successfully a lot of time for year.

Do I lose my already carrier unlocked code if I flash to Unlocked Firmware

So this may seem a bit of paranoia I may have but I already got my device unlocked from T-Mobilw but wondering if I flash the Unlocked Firmware (N950U1 from N950U) and then to Android Pie would I lose my carrier unlock that I already got unlocked from T Mobile by doing so. Also would Carrier to Unlock Firmware break the device?

No you won't lose it because it goes on a spot in your phone that doesn't get touched or erased when you change firmware or whatever. And no your device will not break however if you're wanting to try Android Pie there's one for the N950U1 version out now so you don't have to go all the way back to N950U.. Directions are on the forum already.

The carrier unlock is done server side at T-Mobile. Once it's unlocked, it's unlocked. Period.
