From Global Dev to China Dev - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I need your help.
Tomorrow I'll receive my mi5 with a Global Dev ROM on it. Since I already received permission to unlock my bootloader, I would proceed flashing China Dev (as it is necessary, isn't it?).
So, how can I change from Global Dev to China Dev?

Dear Senbonzakura,
Please check the below steps:
1- Download MIUI ROM Flashing Tool. If your device is locked you need to unlock it first.
2- Download the proper package from this link http://en.miui.com/a-234.html then go to step 2.
3- Turn off the device. Press the Volume– key and the Power button at the same time to enter Fastboot mode. Then connect the device to the Windows PC/laptop via a micro USB cable.
4- Double click on the downloaded ROM file to decompress it. Open the file folder for the decompressed ROM pack, and copy its path on the computer.
5- Decompress the MIUI ROM flashing tool downloaded in Step 1, and double click on it to install (if there is security warning, select 'Run'). After installation is completed, open MiFlash.exe and paste into the address bar the ROM file folder path copied in the last step. Click on the first button (circled out in yellow) to Refresh, and MiFlash should automatically recognize the device. Then click the second button (circled out in red) to flash the ROM file to the device.
6- Wait until the progress bar inside MiFlash turns fully green, which means the ROM has been successfully installed. Then your device should automatically boot to the new version.
Note, If the flashing guide could not help you, please download Mi PC Suite here http://en.miui.com/thread-92720-1-1.html
(After Mi PC Suite is installed, make sure that your phone is in fastboot mode, connect your phone to a computer, and select the correct ROM file to flash).
Thanks.

Installing TWRP problem (Mi5 white 32GB)

Hi everyone
Some days ago, xiaomi sent me the approve for unlocking the bootloader
so i followed the procedure
Here yet the first strange thing:
the xiaomi programm for bootloader unlock says that after unlock my device will be formatted at all
But after my mi5 rebooted it was all as before
no data loss
And fingerprint is working
Then i wanted to flash the TWRP following this thread: http://en.miui.com/thread-245756-1-1.html (In the very last post there is an update for fix the touch problem)
I downloaded Mi Pc Suite, adb driver and fastboot driver (In fact both adb and fastboot recognize my device)
And then i flashed the TWRP as mentioned
But if i disconnect my phone, it wont reboot autmatically, i need to press power button for like 8 seconds
If i press power button for 8s it will reboot normally into android
If i connect the phone and through adb i write adb reboot recovery it will reboot into a black screen with a phone and a cable (that i think mean that the recovery isnt installed first, and second it's like bootloader mode)
How to guys? I need TWRP to flash the new weekly
Thanks a lot to all
Federico
Download cofface fastboot tool here attached and the twrp recovery image below.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/bx0ru3cfgk1kv01/cofface_twrp_recovery_gemini.img
Boot the fastboot by maintaining power + volume down button, connect your phone to the computer.
Extract this .zip to your desktop.
Open Command Window and direct it to the extracted folder.
Note : If you use Windows 7 and above, maintain Shift key and right click to extracted folder., and choose "Open Command Window here."
Type "fastboot devices" to see if your Mi 5 is detected.
Type "fastboot flash recovery cofface_twrp_recovery_gemini.img"
When it's all done, type "fastboot boot cofface_twrp_recovery_gemini.img".
There will be a bug where the screen will be unreactive. Just click power button and let screen off during 3 minutes, when you turn the screen on again, the screen will function again.
I have instaled the wrong twrp3.0.0.0 having a bug now I have with the new adb twrp3.0.2.0 instaliert that would work.
only when I stabel who wants to install the new and I'm going in again into TWRP is the old version 3.0.0.0 TWRP back where the touch is not working! how can I fix this? and remove them from Completely mobile

The same thing happened to me. I want to know too. (How to uninstall the old TRWP 3.0.0.0 completely.)
TWRP for MI5
The problem seems to be that the MI5 use two different kinds of LCD (JDI or LGD); you can know your kind in settings - about phone - tap 5 times on kernel version - 2. check version info - lcm information.
You can download the appropriate twrp from the section download of miui italia
Thanks to miui italia for the solution
The solution is taken from original post in this forum, not miui.it...

Try format your phone completely , this will make TWRP overwrite the stock recovery

xiaomi.eu 7.8.13.0 (MAACNDB)

so i bought a phone via a reseller and it came with the above miui version and lots of bloat ware that i cant remove. Some of the bloat ware doing funny things as well.
How do i go about flashing back to a original global or china version?
Dear,
You need to follow the below in order:
1- Apply for unlock Bootloader.
2- Once you unlocked the BL then.
3- Download the latest fastboot image for your device (Not Flashable ROM).
4- Download MiFlash Tool.
5- Enable USB Debugging.
6- Boot your device on Fastboot.
7- Put the whole downloaded package on the Desktop.
8- Extract the package using "7-Zip Software".
9- Open the MiFlash Tool.
10- Select browse and select image.
11- Select Advance option which is the "Browse Arrow".
12- Select Flash_All.
13- Click on Flash.
14- Done.
Thanks.
I suspect the bootloader be unlocked already, since the reseller managed to flash a non-official ROM. Try entering fastboot mode (boot the phone while holding down the volume-down button); if you see a Mi Bunny, you'll be able to fastboot flash immediately. Follow the above poster's instructions after that.
If you don't know how to fastboot flash, you can google around for some guides. Also, you can find all of Xiaomi's fastboot ROMs here. Scroll down and pick your poison

This is not true. Resellers can flash roms on locked bootloader devices (with EDL mode) and fastboot is accessible with locked bootloader too (just cannot flash roms with it).
He has to flash an official rom with edl mode or official recovery (mi pc suite) and he doesn't even need to unlock the device.
Follow these instructions:
1. Download and install miflash: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7JS5kbVejxxUE9DNGpIOVhFWUU
2. Download and extract Mi5 EDL zip: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7JS5kbVejxxVGJIengtUTJFVEE
3. Turn off your phone
4. Press volume down and power button for 5 sec (you're gonna see a bunny pic and a fastboot text)
5. Connect phone to pc with usb cable
6. Wait few sec for drivers
7. Open Mi5 EDL.cmd (from Mi5 EDL zip)
8. Fastboot text should disappear (if not, then something is wrong)
9. Download and extract china dev rom: http://bigota.d.miui.com/6.6.30/gemini_images_6.6.30_20160523.0000.23_6.0_cn_79be63012e.tgz (should be no space in the folder name where you extract this zip!!!)
You can find other official fastboot roms here: http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
10. Open miflash, press refresh, should find your phone
11. Browse rom folder
12. Tick flash all at the right bottom corner
13. Press flash button and wait
14. After finish, the phone should reboot, if not, then hold power button for 10 sec
15, First boot takes very long, keep calm

Just a quick question for my curiosity.
If the phone was unlocked and you flash an official fastboot rom. Will it be locked again once it's flashed? Or is it still unlocked?
Thx

If you choose "flash all" in mi flash, then it will be still unlocked after flashing, but if you choose "flash all and lock" then it will be locked.

Thank you a *lot* for these instructions, I was now able to get rid of these ads (and whatever was still on the device). The only thing that was missing for me was that I needed to manually install the qdloader-hs-usb-driver.
Three things I didn't really understand:
- what does this process do? Does it root the device or just flash a different ROM?
- why is going into the EDL mode necessary?
- when I additionally unlock the device: what do I gain?

TWRP, Root, Xposed k4 note with 6.0 M.M simple and 100% success with all files in 1.

Hi friends today I am going to tell you how to root k4 note which have Android 6.0 (M.M).
Many members have already given this process but in some place the needed files are missing and some other place the process is not explained clearly. So to slove this I have made all in one file and given the process as simple as possible by me.
This process have worked very fine for me. Rooted 8 k4 notes without any problem.
Read all and follow. And do it on your own risk. I am not responsible if anything go wrong.
First of all I would like to introduce myself ( I know it's not necessary but to some of them to believe my work )
Myself is Kaushik. I have been using XDA since 2 years but never opened an account and replied in posts. Now after learning a lot I thought I should also start replying. May be I am a junior member here but not truly a junior member.
I have flashed more then 250 mobile of all brands. And thanks to XDA my success rate is 99.7 %
Thanks to XDA to making me local gadget guru. Now here every one believe that if even service center also fail to slove some software problems but at last kaushik will surly pass.
OK now let's see how to root.
(This will void your warranty)
(Phone will factory reset, which means all of the apps and data will be gone, not the internal sd)
(To root Lenovo K4 note you need to first unlock the bootloader. See below to know how to do it )
1. First download the two files from the links I have given.
All files needed to install twrp and root are in one zip file. Link is below.
https://mega.nz/#!D8MAwSzK!BYSzl4FGE_dbLy5wwzS0lbwSSNbelB7eMmfwdQjDoos
Usb ADB drivers for k4 note. Link below.
https://mega.nz/#!281yHDoI!iuIynHRqf8ui7IffStBhwrJvHJ4NBn1eExy_MYpr13o
Now to unlock bootloader.
2. Now in your mobile go to 'Settings' / 'About Device' / press 7 times on built number to unlock Developer options.
3. Now go to Developer options and click on 'OEM Unlocking' and press enable.
4. Next enable the USB debugging.
Your bootloader is now unlocked.
Now in PC extract the downloaded files
5. Install lenovo adb drivers ( it is in the link I have provided ) on your pc
6. Go to adb folder and press and hold shiftkey and right click with mouse. Select open command from here.
7. type adb reboot bootloader You need to authorize the pc if not done already. (The phone will boot onto fastboot, you can see small fastboot written on the left corner of the screen once the phone boots)
8. Now open adb folder and open 'unlock_bootloder'. A message will be displayed in mobile to press volume up key to continue. Press volume up key. A message in pc cmd will display as press any key to continue. Now press any key.
9. Now in cmd type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
A message will be displayed as done.
Next part is very important
10. After its done press volume up and down button together with power button. Once you see the lenovo white screen, release the power button, release the volume keys once the screen goes black, wait for few minutes till you boot into the new custom recovery.
To avoid black screen set brightness below 30 in twrp settings. ( Not so important if don't understand how to do it )
11. Now the recovery allow modifications by just swiping and the goto mount and tick system and go back
12. Now go to advance, then file manager, then system, and delete the file named, recovery from boot.p ( if you are facing problem plz see point 14. )
13. After done do back and flash supersu.zip. (it is in the link which I have provided)
Now you phone is rooted and the supersu app will appear in the app drawer.
14. If you are facing problem with file manager flash aroma file manager ( it is in the link ). It will open in twrp. Now go to system and delete recovery from boot.p.
If you do not delete the said file again stock recovery will be replaced. If it happens so again you must repeat the steps from step 1.
Next to install xposed after boot up install xposed.apk (app is in the link)
Next flash xposed zip file. (Zip in the link )
Please don't forget to hit thanks if it helped you.
It will make me post more and help others.
Thanks
Regards
Kaushik.

HELP ! Fastboot doesn't recognize my device
s230 update brought a lot of issues thus I downgraded to s218 & now on s219. I am able to get adb to recognize my device but not fastboot. Therefore I am unable to unlock bootloader!
When I type in " adb reboot bootloader" or click on the "unlock_recovery.bat" file provided, I get booted into a dark screen where "fastboot" is written at the bottom left & the command prompt window says < waiting for device> & I am stuck there until I reboot my phone.

How To Guide How to revert back to stock firmware.

Hello everyone,
This will be a quick guide how to back to stock rom. If are using custom firmware and recovery and want to feel again the stability of stock firmware here you are. Everything is in the video description, and everything is explained in video.
Steps:
All your data will be lost, make backup before you start!
1. Open Xiaomi website and download your fastboot firmware by tapping flashing guide and fastboot update.
2. Download Mi Flash Tool
3. Unzip both downloaded files and move them to Volume C: of your PC in created folder without any intervals in name.
4. Open Mi Flash and browse for firmware
5. Turn off your phone and boot in fastboot mode by holding volume down + power buttons and connect to your PC with usb cable(better use original one)
6. Press refresh on Mi flash tool and your phone should appear if not install drivers from drivers tab. If still not appear try disable drivers signature enforcement in windows.
7. In Mi Flash bottom right corner select clean all(if you want to keep your bootloader unlock) or clean all and lock(if you want to lock your bootloader)
8. Wait patiently. Keep in mind first boot takes more time.
FOLLOW VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!

Well I want to help so I copied and paste Theo from the oneplus 10 pro group on telegram what i posted here i hope this tutorial might help you
I didn't make this tutorial so if this works join the group and thank @docnok63 i don't know if this is also his XDA name if so then you can thank him on XDA
With an unlocked bootloader, Fastboot Enhance allows you to flash stock OOS without relocking the bootloader like MSM. It can also be used to downgrade your OS without losing data. To use it, download it from Github and:
1) Put the phone in fastboot mode and connect to PC
2) Launch the Fastboot Enhance app and double-click your connected device
3) Click the “Reboot to Fastbootd” button
4) Once in fastbootd, click the Flash Payload.bin button. If you get a warning about cow files, ignore and hit the Yes button
5) Select the FULL OTA.zip of your choice (incremental patches not allowed.)
6) The app will extract the payload.bin from the full zip and begin flashing automatically. Do NOT touch your device or close the app during this time or you risk bricking your device
7) Once done flashing, you will get a “Operation completed” dialogue box. Hit Okay and then hit the “Reboot to System” button. Profit.

Hey are you still having problems? Do you have a windows device to troubleshoot with?
I know you had a Mac before.
What state is your phone currently in? Still unable to boot?
You can force your phone off by holding the power button and both volume keys for an extended period of time, the phone will vibrate when it does, from then just hold down and power until it powers on, it may take a few seconds but it'll land you on a black page with recovery as one of the options, once in recovery choose from the 3 language options, from here with the up and down vol keys and power you should be able to wipe your system and recovery your phone, you will lose the content but this should work.
The only other option is to boot to the bootloader then use fastboot commands to put the OS back, or use fastboot enhance.
