Updating Baseband Version - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys...i have mi3w indian version and to flash latest builds of cyanogenmod roms running on marshmallow it says that i have to upgrade my baseband version to MPPS D 4.0 something and i am currently on miui 7.1....i have latest baseband version file but it is not flashing through twrp it says that meta.inf not found and when i tried to flash the file using updater app in miui 7.1 then my phone just shuts down and doesn't switch on then i have to fastboot reset my phone using miflash tool.....can anyone help.

If you want to update your baseband, just fastboot flash the MIUI MM Dev version (The easy, one step way) or follow these steps: https://jrizzoli.github.io/dotfiles/. From there, you could easily flash TWRP and CM as you wish.

[ME176CX] Kernel Version stay at CN-3.2.23.201 !!

Last week my K013 bricked , so I follow the tutorial below to unbrick:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/general/unbrick-asus-memopad-7-me176c-cx-t2970049
when I sideload CN-3.2.23.182 ROM , I have some interested in it and OTA to the CN-3.2.23.201 Version..........
but when I flash back to WW-182 ROM , the problems come
--the Kernel Version stay at CN-3.2.23.201 !
So the recovery Version is CN and will brick if it get any WW OTA
I try several way but not work
here is what I try:
acording to the tutorial
http://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/general/unbrick-asus-memopad-7-me176c-cx-t2970049
1 .I flash into CN-182 ROM but Kernel Version still CN-201
2. flash into WW-182 ROM but Kernel Version still CN-201
3. flash into CN-182 ROM and then flash into WW-182 ROM......still no work
4. flash via IntelAndroid-FBRL-07-24-2015.zip to flash.....still no work , the CWM recovery cannot replace that CN recovery , it change back to CN recovery as soon as it restart
5. I also try
http://forum.xda-developers.com/memo-pad-7/general/asus-me176c-cx-unlock-bootloader-t3315603
but it's not work on early version
Is there any way that I could flash my K013 Kernel?

Downgrade Mi3 Marshmallow rom to Kitkat Rom

Dear All,
i am a super fan of MIUI and ensure that i use all the roms avaliable for my device Mi3. Recently, i used MIUI 8 China Alpha rom on my Mi3W (Indian Version). i was quite satified with the Alpha Rom but there were few concerns due to which i wanted to go back to Global Stable rom. So, i went to the forum where i downloaded the Mi3 fastboot rom (stable global version) and tried to implement it through Miflash application. It failed and i was forced to install the MIUI 8 China Alpha rom.
But i wanted to go back to the stock Kitkat global rom and tried many ways to ensure my handset is back to normal (as it came from MIUI when shipped).
Finally, i got the solution whcih i working perfectly and hence sharing with all the users whcih want to test the MIUI8 china rom (Alpha/Developer) but hesitate to use it due to issues.
One thing to mention here is "MIUI 8 rom for Mi3 is Marshmellow while the stock rom is on Kitkat with MIUI7. So, the internal partitions of the handset change when you upgrade from KITKAT to MARSHMALLOW. hence you can't go back to Stock stable rom (Kitkat).
This solution which i am mentioning now will enable you to go back to Stock stable rom on Mi3.
Step 1:- Download the rom from the link below
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzRaSHXRviYBMFhpU043NEdmR2M
Step 2:- unzip it with 7zip application and keep it in a folder
Step 3:- ensure your mobile is charged for atleast 60%
Step 4:- open Miflash application and put the rom path in it.
Step 5:- Put your phone in fastboot mode (shut down the phone and press volume down key and press power button
Step 6: connect your phone to computer and press the refresh buttion on Miflash
Step 7: Now your phone should be visible in the Miflash. If yes, ensure that you select the "flash all" button and press the flash button.
Now the installation of the rom will start and disconnect the cable once the miflash with say "Operation Successful"
Step 8: If the phone does not auto reboot then keep pressing the power button until the phone restarts.
Step 9: 1st Boot will take sometime and select the language etc to use it. then BINGO your phone is on KITKAT China stable Rom without google services.
Step 10: Download the MIUI stable rom (http://en.miui.com/download-101.html) from the MIUI website and use the phone updater to choose this Global MIUI rom.
Step 11: the phone will restart and the installation will start.
BINGO....you are finally on MIUI7 Global stable Rom with Google Apps.
Hope you are able to use this and get the desired results.
Enjoy and God Bless.
Actually its very simple..
Flash TWRP recovery from Flashr App...
Download stable zip ROM..
Go to recovery, wipe everything except sd card.. And flash the stable rom... And you are back to stable kitkat

Actually it's not that simple because flashing a Marshmallow rom means altering the internal system partitions. In order to return to the stock rom you need to manually reverse the partition table to their factory default or do a fastboot flash.

Its not required to reverse the partition table to kitkat format... MM merges the two system partitions and other partitions. And kitkat supports that merged partition
I myself is running miui kitkat on miui MM merged partition..
Just use TWRP.

I downgraded to miui kitkat and cm12.1 using the merged partition. In miui kk, it will have error but it will still flash if you see in the log the it was flashed (system, data, bla bla). In cm12.1, just flashed thru it no problems with gapps of coarse.
All I did was wipe data, nothing else.

Can't install official update zip file in TWRP

I would install Global Dev ROM 7.2.16 miui_MI5Global_7.2.16_ab1851be8e_7.0.zip in TWRP (last version 3.0.2-3) but after installation, my phone not boot to system it stuck at mi.com screen.
If I flash other custom ROMs then everything is OK
Does this mean that I can't install official MIUI zip files in TWRP?

This has been discussed many times. Do not flash stock miui rom with TWRP. Use Miflash tool instead.
in the setting
choose the 'support official update'
@muchlas46
I can't use Miflash because if I will flash this file using Miflash then TWRP will be overwrite.
And If I would do that and then install again TWRP it will be asking me in first entry to decrypt data so I have to format freshly installed Global Dev ROM so I'm back in start point.
I would have TWRP, unlocked bootloader(have it) and GLOBAL dev, so to do that?
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/development/tool-flashable-firmware-twrp-easy-t3474898
flash "Latest one -> Developer 7.2.9 Firmware:",then flash custom ROM(ex:Lineage OS)
I don't wan't custom ROM, I want to install official ROM from this e.g Global dev :
http://en.miui.com/download-299.html#443
anh have this official ROM with TWRP as recovery, is any hint to do this?
I want the EXACLY same thing LOL and i try everything but i cant have TWRP and Global dev, sorry i just wait with you for one solution.
I have idea how to do this but I'am afraid bricking my phone
Inside official fastboot file, after extracting is folder "images" inside is recovery.img file - this is stock recovery.
It could be maybe possible to replace this file to twrp file and leave it with the same name, then during Mi-flash will be TWRP installed instead stock recovery.
1. flash the firmware given above.
2.nougat miui often doesn't boot with only a clean twrp flash, that's why you have to flash the nougat firmware posted above.
else
1.flash 6.11 marshmallow global beta.
2.reboot
3.now flash nougat beta

Cant return to MIUI from LineageOS

Wipe everything
Install global developer zip file
When reboot, twrp says no OS installed
Help pls
if the recovery method of flashing the full rom fails, then you have no other recourse except to flash via fastboot method.
take note of this "Please wipe all data in Recovery mode if you want to update to a discontinuous ROM version, or downgrade to an older ROM version using MIUI full ROM pack. If you upgrade from MIUI Stable ROM based on Android M to MIUI Developer ROM based on Android N, please flash it via Fastboot update. Recovery update might cause upgrade failure."

Did you just tried rebooting to system after flashing? I also got that error "no OS installed" in TWRP so many times, but rebooting to system with no problems at all.

Unmounted system before flashing ROM .
in my opinion why just not use rom from xioami.eu because you have custom recovery .

The reason is, that you can't flash OFFICIAL Chinese (Developer/Stadle) Rom with cusom recovery (TWRP). But you can flash anything esle. Like Lineage OS. If you want to use MIUI Rom, you have to flast a Xiaomi.eu ( developer or stable) rom. NOT OFFICIIAL CHINESE !!! If you prefer Official Chinese Global rom, you must download a FASTBOOT rom (not recovery) , and flash it in fastboot mode, with MiFlash.
instead of beating around the bush, why not follow the official procedure of flashing an official miui rom
if you are coming from a custom rom, as specified herein?:
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
When can we expect official RR for mi max 2?
It was already available for redmi note 4 which is having the same processor.
You have to wait for custom Rom until miui release the kernel source which is must have to develop a custom one. please be patience...
If you flash rom with out error, Even no os installed warning, you can boot into system without problem.

I can't flash any Android Oreo ROM

Hello, I have a problem with my Xiaomi Redmi 4X phone, as I said, I can not flash any Custom ROM for Android 8.1 All this happened after I put my phone in service to replace the display on which I've broken it. Now any version of Android 8.1 I try to flash results in a bootloop. I have to mention 3 things
1. In TWRP when flashing I noticed that all Custom ROMs are stuck in "Flashing system files ..." for a few seconds after saying that it ended flash-but did not abssolut anything.
2. Now a few hours I accidentally flashed Pixel Experince, but now I have the same problem.
3. I can not flash any versions of TWRP.Not much but...
THIS IS HAPPENING ONLY ON THE ANDROID OREO ROMs, Nougat ROMs works perfectlly
Try to flash first latest version of twrp or you can flash redwolf recovery then flash firmware v40 then try clean flash for oreo roms
As mentioned by above user...(latest TWRP recovery and firmware is must)
Flash latest TWRP recovery, 3.2.1-0 should be fine but there's update available 3.2.2.-0 so any will do.
Next, flash latest firmware.
Clean flash is must when changing OS.
It's most likely you don't have latest TWRP recovery and firmware.
Do backup first.
