Tasker and INTENT actions - Tasker Tips & Tricks

Hello all,
Suppose I want to dismiss a notification popping up from an app Notifier. Automating the dismiss can be achieved through using the input tap command in Tasker, and also using the same feature in Autoinput.
But I want to dismiss it by sending an INTENT through Tasker. How do I know which intent to send? Please help.
Many thanks.

Nobody answered it, so I answer it myself, I used Notification listener and dismissed the notification from any app I chose

If you want you can just disable the notification of any chosen app from settings/application manager

I am monitoring my garage door to see whether it's open or closed. The garage door sends me emails of it's state. I'm using Tasker K-9 plugin to receive notifications and use Tasker to create my own custom notifications. Everything works fine, except for one problem. Whenever the phone is locked and there is a change in state, the notification doesn't update unless I unlock the phone.
How can I resolve this?
Thanks.

You can try an alternative.
Install notification listener app from playstore.
Event will be notification listener app listening to the email app(K9mail or Gmail etc)
Task will be whenever I get an email from your *door*(? lol), then you get an alert (notify, voice etc etc) but do fill up the "If" command like if %nltext~*door*,
For ex:
I have subscribed to this thread via my Gmail and I want an alert to pop up when I get an email from XDA.
what I do is this.
Event : plugin > notification listener app> select Gmail.
Task :
a1: If > %nltext~*XDA*
a2: alert > notify.
This is independent of the phone state locked or not

I figured out what I was doing wrong. I needed to clear/cancel previous notification before creating the new one.

Email Notifications...

Anyone help ????
I have set my Hero Email app so that when I get and email, it informs me, and I can open, and read it, This is when I set the pop and smtp settings. But I also get another notification icon, which only lets me read the email, not reply to it, so I get two notifications.....
I only want the one from the email app, pop account, how do I cancel the other notification ????
Thanks all
Ian
That's a notification from the Gmail app.
It seems to me that either you're picking up your Gmail via POP in the Email app, or you use something other than Gmail for your email, but have set up a Gmail account which is also picking up your email via POP.
In either case, if you want to switch of notifications from Gmail, go into the Gmail app and then "Menu"->"Settings" and untick "Email Notifications" which will switch of the Gmail notification.
Regards,
Dave
Thanks Dave,, thats just what I was hoping someone would say....

Hey Ian, I don't mean to hijack your thread, but my question is applicable here.
I am using the Gmail notification widget from the Market. When I get an email, the widget reflects the number of unread items. So, I no longer have a need for the notification in the taskbar. Problem is, there seems to be no way to disable the taskbar notification without disabling the sound and vibrate as well! (where is my "banging head against the wall" smilie?)
Anyone know how to resolve this. Handcent is the same way. Disable the taskbar notification and you lose your sound notification as well.

Email sent notification sound ???

is there any way to dis ? as i am pretty addicted to this feature since me coming from 4S .thnx guyz
Unfortunately no, well at least not with the inbuilt 'Gmail' and 'Email' apps that come with Android.
Perhaps some 3rd party mail apps might have this feature but none of the ones I tried did, perhaps someone will know if one does.
I know what you mean though, I too like this feature when sending emails from my iPad 2.
Galaxy Note (N7000)
Rom: ICS Stunner 5.0
Modem: LP6
common guyz !!!
this form has tried to solve the most complicated and complexed stuff pls help me out on this one guyz plzzz.thnx
Easy.
You need tasker. It's a paid app which will get stuff like you mentioned here and many others.
If you have tasker:
1. Event: notification from email app "sending email"
2. Task: play selected ringtone
(no, not in gmail app)
thnx a ton I downloaded that app now
U pls tel me once I open that app how do I go abt to set that notification ?.thnx
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium

You realised that your device must be rooted.
Get some basic idea of tasker by going to their webpage, it is easy. Once you get the hang of words like 'context', 'event' and 'task', this is how you get your email sent notification...
1. Event: notification 'sending' from app 'email'- task: notify 'email is in outbox'.
2. Event: notification: 'sent'- task: cancel notification 'email is in outbox', notify 'email sent', play selected ringtone.
You will get both outbox status message and sent notification with ringtone.
Root not required for this.

I've tried to get my head round Tasker but really having problems, can do the simple stuff just about but would learn so much more with help.
Is there any chance of step by step click by click guide of how to do this. People talk of how easy this is but only brief descriptives.
Some help from from those that have grasped this programme would be great, this sent email alert would be a prime example. :silly:
You're saying Tasker doesn't support this with Gmail? Only email app?
You guys could use the feedback function of Gmail and tell Google you what you want. Tap the three dots or push menu button and choose send feedback.

Google Home - Announce Incoming Notifications

**Updated 5/27/2017**
After installing this profile Google Home will announce your selected incoming notifications by app name and subject line.
Video Demo
Part 1.
1. Download and install Tasker, AutoNotifications BETA, and AutoCast BETA (you will need the Full Paid versions). Also download Notifications.prf.xml
2. Once you have received the AutoNotifications BETA update via the Play Store open the app, grant all permissions, press "Enable Notification Intercept" and grant notification access. Leave all other default settings and exit AutoNotifications.
3. Once you have received the AutoCast BETA update from the play store open the app, grant all permissions, select "Manage Cast Devices," then press + to add your Google Home then exit the app.
Part 2.
1. Place the Notifications.prf.xml file in your device’s Tasker/profiles folder (if these folders do not exist then create them).
2. Open Tasker and long-press “Profiles,” then select “Import” and import the xml file from Part 1.
3. Back-out of Tasker to save the profile. Done!
You can customize your list of apps to announce by pressing the "Notifications" profile in Tasker to expand the profile, then press "AutoNotification Intercept Event...", then the pencil to configure. Press "Apps" to select your apps. Google Home will now announce incoming notifications including the name of the app and subject line (you can disable by placing your phone on silent). Enjoy!
Tip: include the Google App in your selected apps to hear your Google reminders on GH.
**Important**
- GH must be connected to the same wifi network as your phone in order to announce the notification.
- Turn off battery optimization for Tasker, AutoNotifications, AutoCast or your device may disable these apps when idle.

Instead of Silent to prevent any notification announcements, can I change it to Do Not Disturb instead? Would changing %SILENT ~ off to %DO NOT DISTURB ~ off work?

Yes, it does work, but it's not that straight forward. I've attempted many trial and errors and finally discovered one that worked for us (since we have the same phone).

I also removed the reading of the message from the notification and unread text reminder, keeping just a notification of a text received from sender. I didn't feel too comfortable having my text auto-read out loud.
Multiple Google Home's
Thanks for this, it works a treat when casting to one google home.
However i tried to get it to cast to my speaker group which just causes the app to crash. Do you know of any work arounds or is it just not capable of doing this yet ?
Unfortunately the app can currently only cast to one device at a time.
Cool things here! A Question Please, - When I import the tasker.xml, are then all my other tasker-tasks still there?
Thanks!

I know Your Question is a time ago, but I wanted to let You know, that it is Possible to cast to more than one Google-Home! - You must only go in the Tasker-Profile, tab on the profile to expand it, tab on the right side in the expanded profile (tasks of the profile), and setup the last task a second time the same but now choose a further Google-Home-Device, done! So the Google-Home's speaking out the information one after another, how it set in the Tasker-Profile! It's really Great!

I have seen Your awesome Profiles, and in the moment I'm addicted to it! I wanted to let You know, because I have seen that in the past Someone have asked about to cast to more than one Google-Home, and You answered that yet is not possible! - Probably You know this anyway, but in case not, I have found a Workaround in the way that I have set up the last task in the profile (Autocast) a second time, and choosed a second Google-Home, and now the Google-Home's speaking out the informations one after another, in the sequence it is setup in the Tasker-Profile! So it is possible to setup many Google-Home's as Wish with this Wonderful Profiles!
Thanks for Your Awesome Work and Time!:good:

Whatsapp - read title of message

Hello Guys,
I've always used a simple automation to read from whom my whatsapp messages are while I was with my headphones and walking on the streets or the subway. It's useful for me to know if I might have to stop to read any of those or if I could just leave for later.
The events are:
Notification - Whatsapp
Headset plugged - Any
The action is:
Say %NTITLE
But recently, due to a whatsapp or Android 6 upgrade, this not always read the last notification title, but the first unread notification I got in whatsapp. For example, if I get a message from person A and then 3 messagens from person B, it would say 4 times message from person A.
I've tried the %evtprm2 variable as well. Does any one know of a way to fix this issue?
Thanks!
Hi,
Maybe you can look into AutoNotification: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joaomgcd.autonotification
It gives you a lot more info on notifications, but I'm not sure if it can solve your problem. Make sure you open AutoNotification, and click 'Enable Notification Intercept'. Then create a new Event profile in Tasker: Plugin --> AutoNotification --> Intercept.
Hope this helps!
I'm using a third party app to read notifications by voice. There are many apps available on play store for this purpose.

Need help for email notification

Hi,
I use a work profil from my company on my note 10+
The phone is most of the time silent because I use a Fossil Gen.5 for notification.
The only problem is, that I can not choose the Email App from the working profile. Email+ is still not there to choose (no apps from working profile were show)
So I would like to make with Tasker a notification - to show this notification on the watch. Tasker has the same problem, it didn't find Email+ in the Apps.
So I must make something other to push the notification. But what?
I don't know how the profil must look like. In the Screenshot is the notification from Email+
Kind regards, Sascha
