Anyone having issues with the notification LED never working?
I've tried flashing a couple of stock Roms with no improvements.
Thinking my next step is to return it for replacement under extended warranty, but wanted to ask the hive for ideas.

I think the notification led isn't supposed blink when notifications are recieved. It is only for stock rom, when you get low on battery.
take a look at this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/help/moto-x-2014-led-notification-t2878908

Am I right reading into this that 6 lost LED notifications completely?

Light flow installed. Instructions followed. nothing.
I know it did work with other Roms.

I never knew it had one until I finally rooted and installed resurrection remix and all of a sudden I get a cool little green notification and I was and to change in the settings what apps it will light up for.

The notification LED never turned in when I had stock, it was only until I installed cyanogenmod that I found out it existed. Whenever I recieve a text it lights up, it's only green though.

Same here, never knew it existed. Works on every text and email though. Using the Nexus Experience ROM.
Ditto. Thanks all.

So hopefully I don't get smacked down for this.
Here is my problem, recently got a new g2x having owned many other android devices that I rooted and then broke the guerrilla glass dual core nvidia sounded pretty slick. How ever there is no vibrate for SMS or led for anything. (My g2x came with gingerbread) but it really bugged me so I rooted with NV flash after discovering more practical methodes don't work with the Ginger rom... STILL NO VIBRATE OR LED lol and this is in the newest cm7 does anyone have any fix or anything?

When did the problem begin, during the time you bought it or did it just happen suddenly?
It came like that. :/ I think it has something to do with its stock rom which doesn't make since b/c its gone. But it has full haptic feedback but no vibrate notification for SMS, on any messaging app. Same for the led. Right now its running cm 7.1.0 which is I think android 2.3.7

If it did come like that, it just may be a hardware problem, since the problem is existent throughout different ROMs. You should go to the store and get a new phone before the warranty expires. But remember to revert to original ROM with no root or else they won't accept it.
But the vibrate works. For everything except SMS and mms it vibrates for haptic and calls and alarm etc. Just SMS...

Do you still think it could be some sort of deep hardware issue?

hi, maybe you dont have vibrating for sms and mms activated, you can check it in messaging -> settings -> vibrate
Hi Guys
I have just noticed my notification LED does not flash when I have a message etc? Any ideas please? I am running
LT30p
4.0.4
7.0.A.3.195
I just posted a message here also regarding the LED notification light not working on .195. I tried the last two versions of Light flow and none work. Note I am rooted.
I can confirm this was working on the prior firmware, .303.

Yeh I tried Light Flow last night and also had no joy, bummer Anyone got any ideas please?
Ohhh well, I went ahead and downgraded to .303 .. I use the LED notifications a lot, it's a deal breaker for me if they don't work. Hopefully this is fixed in the next Generic update.
any recommended lightweight app?
I use the torch built into Gravitybox

droidlight - its all budget all the time but its from Motorola Mobility, so it should be 100% safe to use.
Torch toggle from gravitybox.
Does it make much difference? I am using the Motorola one but I'm wondering why you would ask - do different apps provide a brighter light?
The one I linked above is super simple.open it, the light turns on.open it again, it turns off.easy as could be

I'm not sure what is the Motorola one? Do you mean Droidlight LED Flashlight? Looks it will automatically turn off when screen time is up.

That's the Droidlight LED Flashlight, I saw some comments that it will automatically turn off when the screen time is up, do you have the same issue?
No, but motto puts a time limit on the led. I assume it is to protect the led from over heating.

Thanks, I'll get that
TeslaLED

Been using this one since my Driod 1. Lets you use screen or LED and seems to be very lightweight (would have posted the actual link, but I never really posted to XDA... just mainly read. Need to get rid of the stupid post restriction)
I use the flashlight in Power Toggles. I keep a set of toggles on a lock screen widget (WiFi, sound mode, Bluetooth, flashlight, GPS) and the flashlight is one of them.

TeslaLed, you can set a widget with it that automatically turns it on. It also has strobe options I believe. But it also works great with Tasker as it is built in as a plugin or 3rd party options. I exported an app with Tasker App Factory so I can activate it via voice as well.
Will there be native support in CM12 for the LED notification? I'm using LiteFlow now and it works but would rather the LED pulse instead of being on solid until the notification is cleared.
They're working on it

Commits have been made. mostly Ready, but not enabled yet.
Thanks. Thats what I thought. I was looking at the changelogs of CM12 but didn't know if it was put in the code and just not implemented or not. Thanks.
Actually, the code is *IN*, the next build anyone makes should have it actually enabled.
My rom, chroma already has this feature. Has been built in for several days now.

I see the led on when charging. Blue light. CM12 nightly
On the fence with rooting but this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hankarun.nightmodewidget would push me over if it works on stock rooted rom. Anyone care to try and reports back?
Thanks!

It doesn't work. It only dims the screen. Color profile is unchanged. This feature is built into Resurrection Remix (maybe CM13 too, not sure) though.
Also, this app works and will do what you want without root: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.hardyinfinity.bluelightfilter.free
Thanks. Bummer, the nightmode widget worked so well with my GN. With it only are red pixels used so resolution wasn't great but night vision was preserved. Kernel dependent unfortunately.
The overlay filters are helpful but not as effective for astronomy.
