Hello, I was wondering if I could get a little advice.
Is there much point in overcolocking the N7000, or is it just going to throttle before a perceivable increase in performance?
And if its worth oververclocking what's the easiest approach for someone just learning? I have done a little reading and seems as if I would need to pick a Kernel that supports it, and then a few post saying I can use a app like Tegrak with the stock Kernel?
I currently have the PhilZ-cwm6-XXLTA-ATL-5.15.0 Kernel and the NightOwl cm13 Android 6.0.1 20160510 build.
Thank you for your time.

I'm currently on modaco r21 sense I want to improve my battery life how can I go about doing that? Can I flash a kernel if so which one?
Flash intersectrave or pershoot kernels. Try all the kernels and see which one fit you best, no harm to your phone if you keep on flashing kernel. Dont ask question in this forum because its for DEV only. Use the general forum for all your question.

Hi.
You can improve your battery life by :
-reading forum rules
-usin search button
-poosting in good section
-be polite
F.
IntersectR doesn't support Desire Rom for the newer 34 Kernel.
The last Kernel is 33.5 back in late May that was updatedt that is undervolted and will wor fine on Desire R21. Run the 925 CFS version and you are good to go.
4th Kernel down.

Thanks alot tech I really appreciate it, was actually having some trouble trying to figure out which one was right for me I want to improve my battery but not give up to much speed, thanks again tech...
I was also wondering how I can make my phone run a bit faster I have setcpu an its at 768MHz I was wondering how I could improve that without frying my phone, don't even know if its possible to fry your phone but yea...
Hi guys, i have had my s3 for a year now and really want to root it. i have searched and searched but can't seem to find a method for my s3. the specs are as follows
Model number is gt-i9305 running on android 4.1.2
baseband version is i9305xxbll5
build is jz054k.19305xxbma5
basically all i want to do is gain root and be able to flash cyanogenmod 10.2, and maybe down the track a kernel for better battery life. getting over touchwiz and the rubbish battery life.
if you could please point me in the right direction, that would be great. i have looked at the samsung tool kit, but my build number isn't there. he says to use the build before the one i have in his directions, but i have no idea how to find that info.
Also, i have checked out cf auto root method by googling cf auto root galaxy s3 i9305 xxbma5 and looking at the results on that. not sure if i can post links though.
i have no terminal experience, so anything basic would be ideal. i'm sorry if this has been asked before, but i'm pulling my hair out!
thank you in advance, Andrew
I wouldn't expect better battery life with cm mate

would it be any worse? i guess i have read that CM is kind of a safe start to get into the world of roms and such. if you had a suggestion for a vanilla android experience that would tromp CM i'm all ears. Im not after massive cpu scores, just a bit more freedom, less touchwiz and maybe some more battery life. Thanks for the quick reply

No CM is not safer its probably a bit more complicated and requires user brain and not such a straightforward roll back .
But if you don't want TW then you need non Samsung based roms .
Thanks for the reply. So would using cf auto root in Odin to get stock root be the easiest way to get comfortable with rooting? Also, is it possible to flash a custom recovery using the cf auto root if I want to flash different roms when I'm more confident in the future? Odin looks to be an easy option with auto root, but does it limit the potential to flash later?
If you want a CM based rom but want decent battery life i can suggest using sentinel with boeffla kernal
I can get 1d 18hrs with average use
Easiest method is to flash a custom recovery via odin i.e CWM, then flash the rom via CWM
I would first suggest ready the stickys first especially if this is your first time so you can back up your IMEI number and modem.
Once you understand it its pretty straightforward !

use framaroot apk

Hello everyone
I'll get straight to the point. I was wondering if there's a custom rom that supports flashing different kernels or at least one kernel that supports undervolting.
I'm a heavy data user and along with display, they suck up all the juice.
I've already underclocked the phone and it did work a bit but i would like to try undervolting along with it.
Currently operating on CM 11
Thank you.

Q&A for [KERNEL] Semaphore JB 3.3.0 / KK 3.4.3
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Can i use 's' version with CM11 rom?
forgive me a question: what are the advantages of this version(the one with linare 4.9.3) over the standard semaphore?
Q&A
Is this kernel updated?

Which kernel version do you mean?
JB development is finished, so 3.3.0 is final. Follow the main thread to get KK kernel updated with the latest Linaro toolchain. Stratosk has dropped the support, but iyahman is doing that.

Dear Community.
On my I9000 I'm running Cyanogen 10.2.1 bundled with Semaphore kernel 3.3.0. AFAIK for this kernel there has been implemented script to OC it up to 1300Mhz. The scale ends on 1200Mhz. Am I missing something?
BUMP.

The i9000's old heart beats best without doping.
My every OC attempt has ended in SOD.
Many people report success, but probably minimal CPU frequence should also be raised to 200 MHz. It will probably heat the CPU and drain a lot more battery. IDK if performance will get much better.

I believe appropriate voltage will stabilize the thing.
Honestly. I would not OC it if I would not have serious performance issues. Frankly, I'am seeking for some workaround as finding the main cause is unsucessful so far.
Accidentally got on this post. Will give a try reproducing the setup.

SlimBean 4.3.1 with stock Semaphore kernel is blasting fast without OC. It can easily be flashed over CM10.2, so consider maybe to create a nandroid backup and give it at least a try. Also battery life is better, it gets even a lot better for those who use TRDS mode.
If you don't like it, you can easily flash Sema 3.3.0, reboot recovery and restore your backup.

Hey.
Thanks for the advise. Will likely give it a try. The main reason I still stick with this device is sound quality.. Shall I expect due to Semaphore Voodoo sound readiness? What is the stock music player app?
Hi again.
I took the advise and flashed slim bean. Have to admit that it was as good hint. Now phone works much closer to what I have experienced in the past.
Yet it's performance is still far from 'blasting'. The system has serious lags and slowndowns when launching heavier apps e.g. Camera, tunein, Google maps.
Is this JB nature that older devices choke on higher load or am I doing something wrong?
problem with voodoo sound
Hello. This is my first post in this forum, so, i'm sorry if there is something wrong.
I'm using CM 10.2 with semaphore kernel 3.3.0, which (i think) supports voodoo sound. But i can't install voodoo sound application, i don't find it in google play, it seems the app doesn't exist. I don't know if there is something wrong with the app (i used it weeks ago with other roms -5.1- without problems) or with my phone/firmware. I don't find no other app from supercurio in the google appstore.
I've searched in the forums but I haven't found any useful information.
If someone knows the reason of the problem and can tell it to me, i'll be grateful.
Have a nice day.
P.S.: I'm sorry for my english, i'm not used to use it.
I thought it could be because a not multidpi appstore, so I fixed it, but the problem was still there. Finally I found the application in another place and could install it.
I'm a noob at this stuff and I am wondering what Leankernel does exactly. It would be great if you explain with easy to understand terminology, as I am a noob
You're not supposed to be posting questions in this subforum.
LeanKernel is a custom kernel that offers a range of benefits over the stock kernel. It's best you search what are the benefits of a custom kernel is.
Moved to Q&A.

Lean kernel is a custom kernel. Do you know what a kernel is?
Leankernel is a custom kernel but trying to keep it as close to stock as it can. Imoseyon adds things that will make the kernel better then stock but tries to keep it as close to stock as he can. Also to add if you look at Imoseyon's op post about the kernel you would see this.
"My philosophy is to keep the kernel footprint as small as possible by trimming as much fat as possible, and at the same time keeping it stable, power efficient, and fast. leanKernel is designed to be a drop in replacement for stock kernel, and so it tries not to deviate too far from stock.
You will find that it's lacking some of the bells and whistles of other custom kernels, so if you like features you came to the wrong thread." This is as noob as you are going to get.
