10) Q: When I run the Windows RUU.EXE it just exits when I click next
The RUU executable needs the MS Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) package installed.

Has anyone got this to work? No one mentions Win7 in the thread about replacing drivers to get Vista to work and don't want to mess up my ActiveSync (which works) if I have another choice? Any advice would be great!
P.S. I don't have a XP machine available, converted both to Win7 beta.
I would like to think there would be no problem you'll use the same WMDC as vista, but if you not sure flash the rom from the sd card, just rename it to blacimg.nbh (.nhb whatever? lol) and copy it to the SD main directory, once you enter bootloader follow the on screen instructions and it will flash the rom, I prefer this as it is faster then using the pc
Windows 7 is working excellent

Hello,
I have a Windows 7 latest build working. Just install WDMC (same version as vista mentioned above!)
It's working without any modifications and even much more stable then vista. It uses also less memory then Vista.
It is a very good choice apart from Windows XP -> Vista is the Beta version of Windows 7!!! ;-)
Many Thanks
Roman

I had nearly every build of windows 7 started with 6801 over beta 1 (7000) up to 7068 now and it worked on every version 32bit and 64bit! Just use the mobile device center ;-)
I've had no problems with win 7 synched to my Touch phone
No Problems with Win 7 no need to install anything to contact phone just use the mobile device center.
Ditto, works perfectly. You'll find Windows 7 installs some drivers the first time you connect your phone which may mean your flash times out while it waits. Just let the drivers install and the re-run the RUU and it'll start to flash
Running Windows 7 RC1 (7068) and no issues whatsoever
i couldnt HardSPL on windows 7 but other than that it works great with the HD.
I was trying to use USPL and that doesn't work (get USB in bootloader but the exe fails as can't find the usb port), guess I could try HardSPL but liked the idea of USPL. can you run USPL from the memory card?
did you change the usb drivers to the old ones? and turn off usb in active sync (on the pc)
I've done it on Windows 7 like the other users with no issues.

Install Vmware Workstation 6.5 and then create a new windows XP virtual machine.
Map you usb to the VM whenever you want to flash using USPL and not only. It works perfect!
ok thanks guys, sounds like using the old drivers will work, but Vmware sounds like a perfect solution will try that.

If you don't mind may I ask where you get the download for RC1 7068? I tried through MS site and got a license key but no download link, it said download was no longer available. Would like to try it.
works fine on build 7048

This is funny.... I would love to know how you have RC1 when its not even been produced yet / hit testing stages of RC
To clear up some comments on Windows RC1. The leaked version of Windows 7 build 7068 in the license agreement says Release Candidate so people are thinking its RC1.
No biggie.
For those who want to upgrade from a previous version of Windows 7 Beta to Build 7068 understand that it WILL break your Windows Mobile Center 6.1 - when it tells you that its not compatible with the 6.1 version in the upgrade it means it. Don't mess with it. Install a fresh copy or you will not get it to work. Even if you download the 6.1 version to re-install.
For those who are installing the HTC for the first time it will say that it cannot find it. That's okay. Once it cannot find it - refresh your windows update and it will find a new driver. once that is installed it will try to install a another driver and it can't find that one. Refresh Update again and it will then find the final driver and Windows Mobile Center will recognize the Touch HD.
Guys, I have ActiveSync working (I am on Win7 7000 however) but was trying to flash (and yes, I had 'unticked' allow USB). This is what was failing. Can't find an XP disc so will try the older drivers as per the solution for Vista. Thanks for all the help.
search for VistaRUU on google for the older driver. It should work just fine under windows 7, I've used it to flash my friends' hermes.
I am running the new 64-bit, Release Candidate of Windows 7. Despite booting to allow unsigned drivers (F8 on boot-time), Windows 7 still rejects the USPL driver. I did browse to the USPL GUI driver for 64 bit. Worked fine on previous Windows 7 beta.
Anyone else have trouble?
did you try running in compatible modus??
On the file properties.....
Did you try downgrading your drivers?
I had no problem with HSPL, but with USPL I had to downgrade drivers, which casued all sorts of problems when trying to do normal operations with WMDC.
johnshep ...
Have you tried the new Windows 7's XP Mode feature ...?
... review here ... and ... download here ...
Works like charm on my PC, running x64 W7, build 7068.
Guide by Digital Outcast in first page
PLs read the Dummies guide written by the great "Digital Outcast" and you shall know what your problem is and how to solve it, it really helped me i am also using win7 x64 release candidate 7100 build. pls read the wiki for more info. have a nice time flashing
i did it just how i'd being doing it in vista and it worked just fine. My only problem was my internet security suite being overzealous.
Since it's actually a command line application, I don't think the compatibility feature is available...will try when get home from work. If this is expereinced by othjers, weill need new way to run USPL. I did notice there were updated drivers for our phones, in RC1, but you still can't flash using those new drivers from Microsoft

You should try reading my guide as well as my USPL GUI application. They are both linked in my signature. I am running Windows 7 RC 1 (build 7100) on both 32 and 64-bit. I have a dual-boot configuration and the drivers, USPL via command prompt, and USPL via my GUI all work fine for me on both installations. Are you sure you did the process right?

I have win7 x64 and i just use USPL normally, but first i log onto windows without the digital sign driver and then updating the Mobile drivers to the ones found on this forum and it works like a charm... No need to run under XP mode
Made a quick guide on how to flash your phone using Windows XP mode on Windows 7. ( For People that cant do it on there Windows 7 due to driver problems )
1. Download Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
2. Install first Virtual PC then take a reboot and install Windows XP Mode.
3. Do a Windows Update on the Windows XP Mode, and make sure that .Net framework is installed.
4. Download Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/activesync-download.mspx
5. Connect the phone to the computer , once that is done you can click on the USB menu above your Windows XP Mode.
6. Attach the devices that you need by clicking on them. (Make sure that the phone is in the bootloader if you are going to flash it)
I have tested it on my phone a couple of times worked every time.
Hope it might help someone as it helps me a lot

yah been doing this since 1st time loading cooked rom into my HD
Thanks for your guide Giland, but I've been using Windows 7 and used same method as described by mezolezo, i.e.
1- Reboot your HD device on the bootloader
2- plug the Cable till you see the USB written in the bottom of the screen
3- you can Flash your HD now
Also the Dummies Guide also provides a detailed step-by-step guide for flashing including how to downgrade drivers for Windows 7 so 'usb' is displayed in bootloader
Still I appreciate your efforts and hope to here more from yourself
Thanks
Rick
Using windows 7 64b and i just make an active sync connection and use the given software with the roms... Only had driver issues while Windows 7 was stil on earlier RCs.
You don't need do that! Simply boot windows 7 using disable driver <something> lol! Update drivers and flash! I use this method and i never have problems!
What do you mean with upgrade driver?
Where can I find the driver?
This my friends it is very very complicated.I am sure it is working but..
If you have windows 7 install windows mobile device centerr, plug in your HD and FLASH.OR you may copy the BLACIMG.NBH to the card and FLASH.
NO NEED TO OVER COMPLICATE YOUR LIFE.
Thank you anyway for the tutorial.
Was just a test since @ work the mobile center wont work no mater what i try.
So i found this complicated way to do it and its working
I did not want to offend you in any way,i am using windows 7 for a long time now and always flashed using Windows mobile center.
I plug in the HD. When asken select the Active sync mode, then start the RUUWrapper and tihs is it, the rest is his job.
And it worked always.
But i still preffer the card method.
found out my problem here , guese what it was forefront anti virus that did it all
I just disabled it and then i reinstalled the Windows Mobile Device Center.
i simply flash my rom on my windows 7 ultimate as i used to do on Vista. Why bother complicating one's life
USPL 2.5 and Windows 7 Ultimate
I only flash via USPL 2.5 and I haven't been able to flash in windows 7 ultimate I have tried all the guides and have not been successful, I came across this guide thought I found some information that would really help me because I also set-up this virtual PC on my machine, only to find out that there is a lot of different ways to flash my phone in Windows 7, so my question is this
1) Is anyone of you guys Flashing using USPL2.5 in Windows 7 Ultimate?
2) If YES, could you explain to me how get it working on my machine?
Thanks.
