Recent and Home Button + Notifications not working - Mi 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys!
My Mi3 is on MiUi 7.5 Global version!
All of a sudden home button and recent button have stopped doing there function!
The home button when pressed in any app doesn't land you to the home and the recent button doesn't show the recent items!
Both buttons are working fine! Long pressing Recent button opens the settings and submenu while long pressing home button opens Google Search! So the buttons are working fine!
Also, there is this other problem! No Notifications are shown in the notification bar! I can pull down but even if there is a notification, it won't show in the bar! I connect my phone through usb port, it doesn't show whether usb debugging is on, in which mode it is attached to the pc MTP or other! Similarly messages and other notifications nothing shows!
Plus, Lockscreen doesn't display any of the shortcuts, not even swipe up to unlock! or the swipe for camera!
All this all of a sudden!

Fixed it! By completely wiping my whole phone including the sdcard and then installed a fresh MiUi 8! Most probably, it was some data corruption which lead to failure of the functions of the two buttons!

switch on the display

Is it possible to use central circle button to switch on the display of the PDA instead of use ON/OFF button?
Thank you.
would like to know if the center button can be map as the power button too.
Its not as you asked, bight might be worht considering:
If you go to settings>system>Lock Buttons and choose do not lock buttons, then all the buttons including the center button will trun on the screen.
Yes. Now every time I want to switch on the display I have to push the upper ON/OFF button and I think it would be better if i could do it by pressing the central circle button?
Thank you
Yes omar32, but i do not like this option because if all buttons are enabled, it is very easy to push them accidentalty and to do calls, etc that you do not want. I want that when the PDA is deactivated, i can switch display on with ON/OFF button or pressing the central circle button, but with others buttons disabled.
Thank you
I agree with you guys. If diamond is a phone why it can behave like a real normal phone. Using this stupid ON/OFF button is very inconvenient and annoying! I miss normal lock keypad-I mean like in SE press * and lock button(s0ft button) to unlock in reverse direction. To get this feature I have to use 3d party software like s2u2 which does the thing but destroys other like receiving MMS etc. I'm getting bored of this phone ale looking for all the time for the compromise between one feature I need and another.Just wanted a PHONE with possibilities of PDA not PDA with option of PHONE
So, is it no possible to use central circular hw button to switch on the display?

Hi
I can tell you how I "resolved" this problem possibly closest to the "normal" phone
First: in settings /system -> key lock -> set: DON't lock the buttons
Second: because pressing ON/OFF button is very inconvenient we have to bypass it..There are few programs *.exe which does exactly the same what ON/OFF button. So search the web for turnOff.exe and map it with soft key manager to any of the soft buttons you like(right or left). This lets you turn off the phone without pressing ON/OFF button on the top.
Third: Because now buttons are not locked it's easy to wake up the phone in the pocket and press sth on the touch screen so you have to use s2u2 for locking/unlocking. And that's all you have to do is spend some time on configuring s2u2 this is the hardest thing here.
Now you can wake up the phone with any button you like and unlock it in iPhone style(thanks to s2u2), when want to lock it you press the soft button mapped to turnOff.exe and that's it- you got your phone locked and turned off.
If somebody knows a different way to do it please share with us

1. Long press on the icon in Toggles to launch the settings for that icon.
When you pull down the notification bar, you will see the Toggle settings for plenty of options (such as WIFI, volume, backlight etc). Long press on any icon in the Toggle mode will launch the setting for that icon.
2. Built-in Screen Capture function
One of the lacking feature in Android is the lack of a built-in screen capture feature (like in iPhone). Not anymore. With MIUI, you can press the “Menu” key and “Volume Down” key at the same time to capture a screenshot. The printed image is saved in the “MIUI: directory in the sd card.
3. Press Home key to preview screens
Pressing the Home button once will bring you back to the Home screen. Pressing the Home button button will show you all the screen thumbnails. You can also ad/remove screens from here.

4. Slide from left to right to quickly delete a message or a call log.
In the SMS or Dialer app, swipe left or right any entry will bring up the Delete mode.
5. Move home screen icon easily
Hold down an icon by one hand to enter Edit Mode, and then use the other hand to slide the screen to move the icon to the target screen.
6. Launch Music Player in lockscreen
In the lockscreen, double tap the time zone to launch the Music Player. (The Music Player is hidden by default, unless a song is playing)

11. Switch the Battery UI to show percentage
The default battery UI can be switched to display percentage of left battery capacity. To do so, go to “Settings -> System -> Battery Settings -> Battery Indicator Style -> Percentage“.
12. Long press on the Home button to show History
Like any other Android ROM, long press on the Home button will show the recently used apps. However, in MIUI, there is also an App Killer and App Manager button. Swiping the popup left will show the search form.
13. Setting up IP dialing
If you need to add an IP prefix for a particular number in a strange land, you can set it in Settings -> Common -> Calls Settings. Turn the “Auto IP dialing” ON and set the IP prefix and current area code.
14. Send SMS for rejected calls
When you are not available to answer the phone, you may slide up the panel to reject the call and to send a message to the caller at the same time.
15. Enable 720P to record a video
If your phone comes with a camera that support HD recording, you can enable 720P in the Video mode. Run the Camera app and switch to Video. Select “High” -> “720P” in the pop-up menu of video quality.
16. Quickly uninstall an app
To uninstall an app, simply press and hold the icon until the trash bin show up at the top of the screen. Move the icon to the trash bin to uninstall the app.
17. Quickly read SMS and mark it read
In the lockscreen, press down the SMS button (without dragging it down) to reveal the new incoming message on the lockscreen. Once you have finished reading it, double tap on the SMS button to mark it read.
The above is all the hidden tips and tricks I know about MIUI. What else have I left out?

[Q] open power options without pressing power button

Hey guys, i have a captivate and im running ICS AOKP with nova launcher prime. My power button is near broken. It always sticks and requires multiple presses before a response. Is there a way to open power options (you know, it brings up the shutdown, airplane mode and reboot options) without pressing the actual power button with nova launcher or a google play app?
Eh...
I dont know of anything. That darn power button is a problem for SOO soo many people. However, something that may help you is going into setting, go to display, and hit volume rocker wake. This will allow you to wake up the device by pressing the volume buttons. Also, if you need to go into reboot options, try rom manager. You can access recovery from there. This is the easiest method I have heard about this issue.
Thanks for your advice. To be more specific, i wanted to be able to shutdown when i wanted. I had forgotten about the rom manager thing.
Also, something cool: If you use Nova launcher, you can change a setting to make the phone wake with the vol up/down. Also, if you buy the donate version and pair it with the app "screen off and lock", you can sleep and lock your device by tapping anywhere on the home screen twice. Its really nifty. Doing that makes you not even need to press the power button anymore....except when you want to shutdown, restart, or take a screenshot.

There are several roms floating around in the development section that have extended toggles. Usually this feature has reboot, recovery, and power off as options. I can't say which (if any) of the ICS roms have the extended power menu.
I can also say that MIUI's standard toggles have reboot and power on it.
Could you use QuickBoot for rebooting options?
Use my latest ROM
It has Search button remapped as Power. Both short and long press work!
I don't even use Power button anymore - Volume buttons to wake up!
Additional bonus - Search now works as Camera shutter!
ROM is in my sig.

[Q] Shortcut to power button

Hi. My power button starts to cause problems and sometimes I have to torment to bring up the menu (profiles, screenshot, reboot). Is there any way to create a shortcut to the menu? Eg "1Tap Quick Bar" app creates a shortcut, but only to reboot (even without the choice standard/CWM). I searched all activities of system apps but found nothing. As a last resort can I map the camera button as power one?
Just go to market and type "Shutdown Menu". It has everything you need.
OK thanks, but it solves my request partially. I need whole power menu with screenshot and profiles

A feature that by Long Pressing the Status Bar, it would open up the Power Menu?

Are there any Xposed Modules or Apps that its feature is capable of acting as a Power Button by Long Pressing the Status Bar? Basically, Long Pressing the Status Bar acts just like what the Power Button would do when you Long Press the Power Button (The Power Menu would show up when long pressed). A "Very Long" Press on the Status Bar would restart the Device.
I need this kind of feature to my ROM and Device because the Power Button in my Tablet is not responding properly as of late and I have decided to use the Power Button only in the case of emergencies, so that I won't worsen its already bad condition.
I am well aware of apps like Quick Boot and there may be apps that are already capable of doing this but I would want this feature to be noticed and made possible so that this feature would be added in Custom ROMs just like the "Double Tap the Status Bar to Sleep" feature of CyanogenMod. I'm also hoping that this kind of feature would also be included in the Lineage OS ROM.
Xposed edge
There're many apps for this - GMD Gesture Control, Status Bar Pro - Gestures and others.
