How can I get root?
well i wanted to do the same as you. after unlocking the bootloader i wanted to root the phone but used a tut for an older version of android. I got in a bootloop and i fixed it by flashing original .img files on the device. Then i was running on 5.0 lollipop. So if you really really want that root acces, i would say downgrade your android version after unlocking the bootloader and then flash the files from motorola. Then follow a tutorial for android 5.0 for XT1092
hi guys,
just got a second hand lg g4 and loving it so far. it's currently on lollipop and I was wondering whether or not I just update it to 6.0 and then root. or could i possibly just root from here and flash a custom after flashing twrp. suggestions?
thanks

Here's the LG G6 TMO H872 10e Stock Rooted rom I extracted from the 10e.kdz thanks to Autoprime.
I rerurned my G6, so there will be no support for this rom.
Twrp bounty:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3579566
Use at your own risk as I no longer have a G6.
Flashing instructions:
1) Backup 1st
2) Flash from TWRP without wiping to test 1st
3) Report if it flashed good.

If fastboot commands get enabled on next updates you can do in adb:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
or
fastboot boot twrp.img

Probably, hopefully. I don't know if lg added signature verification to their .tot files with the g6 or not. I would assume not

If you search through the g5 bounty thread, you will find that someone, can't remember who, took his g5 to a shop where they had the box to pull a stock .Tot file and went from there. I would suggest getting a small bounty together to him, if he even has the g6. The stock g6 tot file is where to begin. I have the v20 so I haven't kept up

He was wondering if the method he sent worked since he has a Verizon G6 and what you sent only works for the T-Mobile variant.

You can try this from the official LG site http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryId=CTULRS0702 it's not meant for the G6 but you can try it

I believe there is sig verification now. But that doesn't mean game over.. just has to be bypassed.
It's a shame that tmobile allows bootloader unlock but removed fastboot flash/boot commands.. therefore requiring a bug to be burned just to get TWRP flashed.

Tmobile H872 G6 doesnt have root yet and will only have root once they have a method to get TWRP onto the device. Fastboot boot/flash commands are disabled so it will take an exploit of some sort to get TWRP flashed to the recovery partition.
The only other G6 device that will have root is whatever device LG adds to the official bootloader unlock list which can be found here: http://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev?categoryId=CTULRS0703
Currently there is no G6 model added to that list.. but over time they may add a model or two. The models added to the bootloader unlock list will be the models to get for proper bootloader unlock, TWRP and root without jumping through hoops like the Tmobile H872 variant does.
For all the other G6 variants without bootloader unlock (att, verizon, us cellular, canadian, australian, south american, korean, chinese, etc..), a new root method of some sort would be needed but there is nothing public yet. Once a public root arrives and if a debug bootloader image is leaked (like the LG V20) then other G6 variants might be able to have an unlocked bootloader allowing TWRP and permanent root.
The LG V20 used the dirty cow bug to gain temp root to obtain privileges that allow the debug aboot img and TWRP img to be flashed. Dirty Cow bug has been patched in the G6 so a new root method will be needed.
Just laying out all the current info to this date. I have no plans to work on any of this as I do not have the device.

Good info Autoprime! Hopefully LG will enable fastboot commands after a future update like they did on the G4.
I'm out in Samsung land now with a S8+ preorder. Guess no more roms for me for a while with the S8 being locked down probably for good.

If u go S8, be prepared for no root or roms.
I might jump back to this after the S8+.

There is no guarantee we will get root, either. Since we don't have fastboot commands.
File works fine in LGUP. Don't ask me how to install or use it - there's plenty of that already on the forums.
If you use this to upgrade from a lower version, you may get hard bricked if you attempt to then downgrade again in the future. I know for a fact that you cannot downgrade past ZVD, but I do not know if they also incremented the bootloader in any versions between ZVD and ZVI. So I would only recommend upgrading if you know for a fact that you will never want to downgrade. And maybe someone else will be able to chime in on whether you can downgrade from this version.
Happy flashing!

If anyone wants just the system.img (for making custom ROMs or extracting bits and pieces), you can find it here. It's untested as I don't own a G4 anymore, but at the very least, don't flash it if you're not already on ZVI.
For anyone who wants to extract the system.img themselves, just download and compile LGBinExtractor, point it towards your TOT, confirm that it's a valid TOT, accept all the prompts, and wait. The tool doesn't fully recognize G4 TOTs and won't automatically name the dumped partitions, but the system.img is usually the largest (around 4.3GiB) and last one dumped.
Oh man I wish I knew how to use the img file to update mellowmallow! I hate that I'm stuck using an older ROM just because I want to keep wifi tether option! I see no way to maintain the free wifi tether hack if I upgrade to ZVI, if anyone knows a way?

I bought a new G4 with ZVI (locked) installed. I want to downgrade to ZVA, ZVB or ZV5,6... So that I could install a custom rom bcz there is no way to enable APN settings in it. How can I do that, any help?

This is for both of you downgrade is not possible and root is even farther If you have to have root Pick a different device.
Is ZVI still Marshmallow? or is it Nougat? Is there official Nougat for Sprint G4?

Didn't someone post that they were able to do use the LG G5 sprint unlock method posted ..........for their LG G4 sprint on ZVD ? They said it worked until they took an update.
I know ZVF can be downgraded to ZVD. So if ZVI can be downgraded to ZVD (not sure), then maybe that is a possible working unlock with ability to edit/add apn.
So the first question is if ZVI can be downgraded to ZVD.

Hello, I recently downgraded to android 4.4.2 on my LG G Tab 7.0 LTE with ATT. I bought this tablet at a garage sale and decided to root it. Since I had no experience flashing an android I accidentally soft-bricked it and had to downgrade. I can no longer update to 5.0.2 because it says that I am ¨up to date¨. I was hoping if anyone could help me out and give me a kdz file for the LG V410 that works. Thank you in advance.
