Hello,
I have a new Nexus6 phone with me. There is a thin film on the top of the amoled screen, with a white mark on the left bottom side of the screen. I didn't remove it during unboxing. Is that a screen guard provided by the manufacturer, which I can use for the entire lifetime of the phone ? Or is it just for safety until the device reaches the user ?
Thanks.

okay, It was not very thin. Looks like a screen guard. So I thought it was a screen guard.
I will remove it and thinking of putting a 3M Screen Guard for my phone.
Thanks.
That's screen peel stick, just for ordinary protection only, it's different from the screen protector, you can buy one here: http://www.etradesupply.com/motorola-nexus-6-tempered-glass-screen-protector.html

okay, what is the benefit of a Tempered Glass over an ordinary Screen Protector ? Will it be thicker than the ordinary Screen Protector ?

Tempered glass is far superior. Most cases of dropping, the protector will break before the device glass. They also last much longer.

If you can't find it, then probably not. Also, try to chose one that doesn't cover the proximity sensor. It has been known to cause issues if proximity sensor is covered.

Yes, the tempered glass screen protector is thicker (generally 0.30mm), sturdier and more expensive than an ordinary one.
If you're considering a tempered glass protector, read the last several pages of this thread. The Nexus 6's glass is slightly curved at the edges and this causes problems with many of the protectors that are available. I'm using a Skinomi TechSkin, wet application film protector and it's been excellent, but as others have said, tempered glass will give you more protection from drops.

You might be talking about the halo-ing effect at the edges. Yes, as the edges of Nexus6 are curved, protectors that are thicker tend to have the halo effect. I am going to use a pouch for my nexus like the following one. I think that will give a protection from the drops. So I think the film protector is enough, instead of making the phone look ugly.
http://www.flipkart.com/mofi-flip-cover-google-nexus-6/p/itmefukj4czhwpzt?pid=ACCEFUKJHX3HKJFV&icmpid=reco_pp_hsame_mobileaccessory_casescovers_1&ppid=ACCE2BYNGAYN7WDS
As with any phone, this is a pretty hot topic and I expect no less from this phone.
Please share your experiences with tempered glass screen protectors in this thread so they do not clutter the forum.
Coming from the Nexus 6, tempered glass screen protectors were a nightmare . the curved screen made them have a halo effect and caused proximity sensor issues. I'm hoping this phone is not going to be the same.
Personally I just ordered the Spigen glass.tr slim for my phone.. It can be found for 9.99 + free shipping on amazon currently. I will be reporting back with my review once I receive it and my phone.
I've had bad luck with the tempered glass protectors. On both my Nexus 5 and my Nikon DSLR, I've had the tempered glass break - no damage to the screens themselves, just broken screen protectors. No thanks.
I'd say they did their job then ... Seems they protected your phone from breakinh

Exactly, that's their whole point, to break instead of your screen.
Well, you'd think so, but nope. They just broke.
I wish you better luck than I had.

Yeah, lots of folks like them, I've just had bad luck. One on a DSLR, one on a phone, both from reputable manufacturers, and a couple years apart. Neither lasted two months, and I do baby my gear. Weird.
I've had a tempered glass protector on my Galaxy S5 and have had to replace it once do to a crack straight across due to a fall. And yes, the actual screen is perfectly fine. I already received my Spigen tempered glass protector in the mail.

I've broken 3 tempered glass screen protectors so far and damaged 0 phones screens I ordered the Spigen as well
My spigen arrived in the mail today.. Looks great. Can't wait to try it on the phone
In my house, we've got tempered glass protectors on a Galaxy Tab A and a iPhone 6S plus, they have been working out great. We use TechMatte amFilm brand.
I haven't had a screen protector on my GS5 for the last year and don't have any noticeable scratches. Is the tempered glass the way to go? Seems that everyone likes the Spigen one...

They can get scratched I promise, anything with quartz in it like sand, dirt etc will scratch it. I like the Spigen one because they are generally good for the price
My laid my spigen on top of my Cruzerlite bugdroid case to get an idea of coverage and it appears as though the screen protector goes edge to edge..leaving just barely enough room for a lip on a case

If direct light (e.g. sunlight) hits the screen, then you can see the hairline scratches. Is it noticeable in daily use? No. I do see the scratches in direct light only

I can understand that dropping it changes the situation. I am partially debating whether to get one
That's good to know that the screen protectors may not be 9H since steel can scratch it. I wonder why they say it is...

Usually they are 0.3mm thick so not really thickness and the weight is negligible

Glass protectors on S6E is not fit very well and reduce responsiveness. I recommend to find a plastic protector with oleophobic coating.
Yeah thanks but what do you think about this on the link?? Can i put 2 plastic screen protectors will the digitizer work, touch responsivness? And if you know some screen protetor brands i dont want the flat only part i want to cover the edges
One more question
How does the plastic one protect phone? Just from scratches or and cracks?

Plastic films protect the screen from minor scratches. You should aware genuine Samsung clear view covers scratching the phone which they are supposed to protect. I don't think tempered glass can protect dropped phone. To me, the advantage of tempered glass is its feeling being the same with phone screen because they are all glass, so easy to swipe. I bought this link and happy with it (located in Australia). I purchased several temper glasses and plastic films but each has its limit. The one I recommend to you is perfectly fit, responsive and fluid. However, its oleophobic layer doesn't work very well.

It look like the same thing and same price. Any chance of some close up pictures of the finish on the sides and corners please? How you like it so far, transparency, texture, fingerprint,..... any negatives? Your feedback will be most appreciated, thank you.
I have had that product on earlier phones, and to be honest, it has a funny texture to it, and it is nowhere near as good as a tempered glass screen protector. After going to glass , there is no going back to plastic on screen protectors. I have the pleson tempered glass protector for my OP 3 and it is great. Get that one, you won't regret it at all.

Couldn't agree more. "Funny texture" is really a nice way to describe the rubber feeling of the protector. With my personal experience I would say it's rubbish and not worth the money ... not worth any money ... only my personal opinion.

I love glass too, have used it on several phones now and there is no beating the glass protectors except for the stock unprotected screen. There were numerous let downs on the OP3 version of the tempered glass protectors, mainly due to OP3's slightly curved 2.5D edge, its near impossible to get full coverage without some kind of compromise.
How funny is the texture? Is it like clingfilm; transparent and flexible but not smooth glide like glass?

The pleson tempered glass doesn't go to the extreme edge of the glass, but I have no issues with it, and combined with a good protective case you won't notice at all. better to be protected instead of worrying too much about aesthetics

I'm going crazy to find a screen protector / tempered glass for this phone.
All I get left / lifted by the edge. I assume you have to be shorter than the screen, but the unglued border is horrible.
Any suggestion for tempered glass? I have tried several, the included original nillkin and all the same happens to him.
The images are from the nillkin tempered glass, but I've tried others with the same result.
Same here looking for a tempered glass that covers whole screen without side bubbles
I've bought this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/35204215721...49&var=621535350962&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT but although it is easy to apply and you get no bubbles, the oleo-phobic coating is a joke. It's a real fingerprint magnet. After one day's usage it's always dirty.

First, it's not exactly glue, it's some kind of liquid, but it's not a glue.
This liquid doesn't damage the screen, it is easily wiped and the protector can be replaced with new without problems in the future.

The glue comes in the package. It really removes the white edges, but the glue (or whatever it is) on the back of the screen protector is terrible. It simply won't stick to the display nice. There are so many "holes" that are not glued. I tried both protectors that came in the package, and had the problem with both.
I ordered PanzerGlass Full Frame tempered glass screen protector. I'll give my opinion on that one too.
I've tried several tempered glass protectors for the Huawei P10 Lite, and all of them have a rim around the edges where the glass won't stick ("halo") because the screen curves and the glass is too rigid to curve with the screen. It's been a real annoyance. I tried a Brotect AirGlass protector that is the same size as the tempered glass protectors, but has enough flexibility to curve with the screen. It's not perfect with a very slight unstuck rim of about 0.5mm, but it's much better than the tempered glass protectors. The AirGlass has to be precisely positioned to minimise the rim, and I found that I had to lift and reposition it a couple of times. I did this using stickers from a spare Omoton protector that I had because the AirGlass doesn't come with stickers to aid repositioning (although I think you can use sellotape - not tried it).
Anyone has a successfull protector to advise. So far they all seem to be terrible.
Like I said, I ordered PanzerGlass screen protector and it's on my device for over 2 weeks now. I can say that this is by far the best tempered glass screen protector I got. There are no white edges, and it is full coverage.
