Hi I have started using this amazing program few weeks ago, but I have big trouble with video downloading...watching works just fine.
The problem is that this app download 100% of desired video but it just hang on and I have to click hide to continue or click X to close app. But whatever action effect is the same only 0b file size video which is ofcourse unplayable. I centacted author three times without any answer so could someone tell me its the problem only with Diamond or it just my problem I installed it on 3 different ROMs and right after HR...tried install to main memory and internal storage as well with no success so pls help me Thank you
What happens:
The phone refuses to play most media types, refusing to play songs, movies etc that had played without issue previously.
Music:
The stock touchwiz music player refuses to play mp3s, cycling through the playlist attempting several songs before exiting back to the list, displaying the error message "Sorry the player does not support this type of audio file". The same message is given when trying to use Fede's music app (fedecarnale's wp7 style music player)...
Video:
The video player gives the message "Sorry, this video cannot be played." while an alternative app QQ player plays the media without problems. Another example is the youtube app which gives "There was a problem while playing Touch to retry".
When does it happen:
This problem presents on both my Captivate and my girlfriends Vibrant after a non specific amount of time. One the problem presents, it remains regardless of memory or cache clearing, app closing etc.
What fixes it (temporarily):
As soon as one of these errors is given, the other apps behave the same way, and a reboot fixes the issue temporarily.
So I don't know enough about how the phone works to sort out the common cause of it all... but I can give you any information you want if it will help you sort it out... I realize that the difference between QQ and video player must be different than between fede's and the music player... I gather that he must be using more of the same stuff whereas QQ might bring its own codecs or whatnot... Any help would be greatly appreciated!
tldr:
I'm having media/codec issues with my SGS on froyo, have you heard of the problem? any ways to fix it?
I used to have this same issue when I was running Doc's XWJS8 Froyo rom with Hardcore Speedmod K13E Kernel. Since I switched to Simply Honey 3.5 Gingerbread it hasn't been a problem
I have this issue on stock Gingerbread ROM from Samsung (JPO). I didn't find a cure for it.
customer support was useless as anticipated, they suggested that it could be a corrupt app and I should factory reset... that is always their recommendation...
its just unusual that both my girlfriend and I would have it on different phones, different carriers and with a different set of apps...
The only real apps that we share in common shouldn't be going anywhere near media such as launcher pro and some games...
Well I was reading on another forum that Twitter for android seemed to be causing media files not to be read. More than one user reported no further problems when they uninstalled the twitter app and started using something different.
So it could be an app not playing well.

I have an AT&T Captivate with Froyo and I get the same issue. It is exactly as described here.
My phone has the froyo you install from Kies Mini.
Model number :SAMSUNG-SGH-I897
Firmware version 2.2
Baseband Version I897UCKB1
Kernel Version 2.6.32.9
I will try uninstalling my Twitter app and see.
The annoying part of this bug is that when i have a custom ringtone based on an MP3, it would not play so I would miss calls. I hope uninstalling the Twitter app fixes it. I'll reply back with it after a day.
This issue happens to me after about a day from restarting my phone (on/off)
I've gone a full day so far and my media still works.
I guess it is the twitter app?
Edit: yes it is the Official Twitter app causing this issue for me.
After uninstalling 2 days ago, I have not experienced this issue.
Anyone having this problem? Youtube 2.3.4 runs fine, but if I select a video to upload I get a force close. I've tried just long press and share and it still crashes. Yes I'm signed in to my Youtube app. I've reboot system. I guess if no one else is having this issue I can reinstall Eclipse 2.1 image.
Videos are 5MB to 12MB taken with Bionic camera and Screencast app. Both in MP4 format and over wifi or 4G and using ES File Explorer or File Manager. FC every time.
Can't uninstall/reinstall app cause its ROM installed, any ideas?
Happens to me too, I'm running theory ROM would love know if there's A fix our something for this..

I was able to upload by using Opera and going directly to Youtube and switching to desktop. After a little research the FC issue is common for other ROMS. Youtube not making effort to fix crap_app.
So basically when using any of the Jelly Bean roms, my music and pictures on my internal storage are not being scanned to show up in their appropriate apps. I have tried all the solutions I have found on other threads but none of them have worked. I know a few people have this problem and I would appreciate it if someone could help as this is the only problem I am having using the Jelly Bean roms.
Solutions I have tried:
Clearing storage media data
Installing other JB roms
Installing different kernals
Mounting SD and emmc in recovery
Factory/Data reset (all JB roms)
Fix Permissions
I usually don't have any problems I can't fix on my own with my experience with Android over the years, but this is the only problem I can't seem to fix.
Help.

This happens in ICS Roms as well (if you perform a clean install), my guess is that you'll just have to wait it out. The Media Scanner should have started automatically once you've finished setting up your phone. Give it a good 30 minutes to scan your stuff and it should show up. Otherwise, try downloading one of the media scanning apps from market (e.g. "Rescan Media") and see if it does the trick.
I know, it is pretty frustrating.
What I noticed is that picasa/google photos sync fine. Those are the only photo albums that show up in my gallery.
But if you take a picture with the camera that picture will show up. Weirdly enough, downloading a photo from the browser doesn't show up.
I have had no luck with any music. Even adding new music via USB doesn't seem to show up either.
It is the only real thing that's keeping me from using Jelly Bean as my daily. If a month or so passes by and Jelly Bean is still not on the Nexus S, I might just do a full wipe and start from scratch. But fingers crossed that Google can step up and get Jelly Bean working as well as on the Galaxy Nexus.
Those who are having issues - does the media process also eat 100% CPU?
Starting to seem like a common problem across all devices with JB...
While mediascanner going nuts is a long standing problem dating back to at least Froyo - it seems FAR more common in JB.
Turns out Google made some significant changes to mediascanner... It no longer caches a bunch of stuff, which kills performance when scanning.
Even if a directory has no actual media files, or has a .nomedia file, it'll scan the entire goddamned directory. One example is that if you have Parallel Kingdom installed, it will sit on the PK directory for 10-20 minutes!
up... any news? This is the only problem JB gives me...!
i had the same issue and i did backup of all my data to my computer after i format sd partition and now it works normal
See my thread about Media Scanner:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801378
There is definitely something amiss with Media Scanner on JB.
Having exactly the same problem with Elite JB..
is there any solution out there? (I read something about .nomedia file, but I don't really know how to do it)

This is the solution I found. I think from ics apps doesn't get turned off even though you press back button. Thus what's happening is that after rescan media is turned on initially, it scans media. After scan is done app doesn't get shut down thus reopening app just opens the app to its previous state wheb scan was complete.
So what you have to do is hit multitask button, close rescan media app by dragging then re open rescan media. It will open fresh and will scan media.
X-Bean ROM scans my media without problems.

Just a wild guess here....
I have a sensation with the newest CM10 JB beta build. I too was having trouble with seeing images in my gallery. Turned out that their is a problem with ROM Manager....so after i deleted it, ALLLLLL the imaged started popping up in my gallery.
Just something to try......
Follow this guide, it works for me; http://ishan-thecholeric.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/solve-media-scanner-problem-on-your.html?m=1
Install QuickPic to view all the images the gallery doesn't pick up.

Has anyone tried the fix I linked above yet?
It works perfectly for me. It keeps media storage running as normal. It only disables the media scanner service that the problem is coming from. Then simply use 3rd party apps like QuickPic to view all the media instead.
I had the same problem but since I installed JRO03L 4.1.1 BETA 9R2 my problem was solved. I haven't had any problem since then. You can try install this ROM...
follow this :good:
The same for my SGS with CM10 latest nightly.
Pics and music do not show up in stock gallery and music player.
Media scanning service keeps restarting.
I aslo tried every solution in the first post but no effect at all.
3rd party app like QuickPic does the job for me, though I have not found some app to play music...
Other than the problem above and lag caused by google search, Jelly Bean is quite smooth on my phone.
Hope someone find the solution...
A temporary fix:
1. Get Nextapp's FX file explorer.
2. Go to the folders with media in it.
3. Tools, rescan media.
The issue with my phone was camera360. Once I froze all 360 files my media scan worked normally.

After u delete all the 360 files, your media scan worked normally even for music? Not just photos?

Media is media, no matter how small.
Just would like to ask regarding the big problem im having with my sgtab P6800.
Recently after successfully rooting my tab ive deleted unecessary apps like stock web browser and music player and installed dolphin browser and poweramp music player and since then ive encountered frequent force close when using dolphin web browser. Is this because ive deleted my stock web browser? Ive also encountered frequent lags in my tab that its a pain in the a** but ive no choice but to reset it to factory setting to get rid of the lags. Plus a message always displays after the lag saying "the process android.phone.com had stop unexpectedly". Ive always encountered this kind of major lag problem everytime I install a specific theme on my tab and ever since ive uninstalled the theme ive never encountered any lag problems at the moment only force close on dolphin web browser sometimes..
P.s.
Just rooted my yab but never tried to installed any cmw because I already bricked my sga 5830 attempting to install cwm5 to cwm 7
My stock android s still 3.2 P6800XXKL2
Look around, any of the thread here mention p6800?
No, because this is the P1000 forum.
