Asteroid OS - LG G Watch R

Hello, I was just wondering if someone was working on porting Asteroid OS to the LG G watch R since there's an Urbane build?

Petition for the LG Watch Urbane 2 LTE to release android wear 2.0

hello community
a petition has someone startet:
https://www.change.org/p/lg-electronics-lg-urbane-2-lte-to-release-android-wear-2-0
Please support it
They're not going to give two you know what's about a petition. After the last response from LG it's clear to me they don't have any plans to release it / they are doing this to push their Sport model. With it having all previews there is no other good reasons why except to do the above.

theres an alpha already available. Although, development seems to have stopped.
Developement does not have stopped:
Linux AsteroidOS on LG Watch R (lenok) & Urbane (bass)?
LG watch Urbane is currently one of the most attractive watches to install Linux AsteroidOS on it: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/kw88-pro-asteroidos-linux-distribution-t4171413/page3 in contrast to other...

for support go to the Asteroid OS IRC chat:
Contact - AsteroidOS
AsteroidOS is an open-source operating system for smartwatches.
asteroidos.org
I asket why they don t use a forum. They responded, they are happy with the chat. Chat for hard core developers, xda developers for users. Unfortunately, there aren t many users here using Asteroid OS.
There is an older thread about Linux Asteroid OS LG watch G here:

Can anyone port android P OS for Moto x4?

Another phone like asus m1 pro has been ported to android P
then either buy the another phone or start working on moto x4 P port.

Non-Google OS for LG Urbane?

Is there any OS out there for this watch that does not use Google? Other than Asteroid OS that is not even functional as a watch OS...

Linux AsteroidOS on LG Watch R (lenok) & Urbane (bass)?

LG watch Urbane is currently one of the most attractive watches to install Linux AsteroidOS on it:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...-asteroidos-linux-distribution-t4171413/page3
in contrast to other smartwatches, all described features, for instance BLE and WIFI, are working on Linux AsteroidOS 1.0:
https://asteroidos.org/install/bass/
This reviewer said, that the LG watch G (same processor as LG Watch Urbane) runs for two days with Linux AsteroidOS1.0.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PRGt3Apkwxg
A Linux PinePhone runs as far as I know only two hours with one battery pack. This makes the LG watch with Linux AsteroidOS 1.0 attractive as a Garmin watch alternative with external Bluetooth low energy sensors.
Here is also a thread about AsteroidOS 1.0, very rare to find:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...parrow-asteroidos-dev-preview-t3458031/page14
and here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/g-watch-r/asteroidos-alternative-to-wear-os-t3791741
There is a developer thread about PostmarketOS on the TicWatch Pro:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...evelopment-thread-t4149253/page2#post83652507
but there is as far as I know no PostmarketOS smartwatch distro with working Bluetooth low energy and WIFI.
And does a PostmarkedOS distro running on a smartwatch also have a battery life of two days?
There is a "Telescope" app available which can synchronize data between for instance the LG watch R Linux Asteroid 1.0 smartwatch and the Linux PinePhone:
https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=11756&pid=80199#pid80199
Synchronizing data between a Linux smartwatch and a Linux smartphone is new an interesting.
I haven't tried it personally, but this thread here does not sound good with regard to Asteroid and the LG Urbane: https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/watch-urbane/asteroidos-1-0-released-t3791430
Did you already try it yourself? If so, what is your experience?
Also, before I would be tempted to try, I'd like to know what the procedure is to return to stock, and where I could find the stock firmware images.
I haven t tried it myself yet. But why has the LG watch Urbane received three stars as far as installation is concerned, which means that it is one of the best supported devices from AsteroidOS, when it is so bad to install it?
https://asteroidos.org/install/bass/
Was the installation done carefully? I don t know where the stock ROM for the LG watch Urbane is available. But I can recommend the AstroidOS chat:
https://asteroidos.org/contact/
the chat software is very basic, sometimes it takes time until someone respond. You can also check out the AsteroidOS IRC Logs here:
https://log.asteroidos.org/
but the support is at a high level and professional. I already had good discussions, and I’m scared to ask foolish questions there. Maybe you can ask there where to find the stock ROM for the LG watch Urbane (which is a smart question).
Return to stock for G Watch Urbane:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/sm...guide-return-to-stock-g-watch-urbane-t3213603
"All in all you are better of buying a second hand LG G Watch Urbane (bass) or Huawei Watch (sturgeon). These are considered the best supported watches for AsteroidOS"

The only confirmed AsteroidOS installation on XDA developers I could find to this date is this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_GJiQYTAIk
https://forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/g-watch/rom-asteroid-os-os-source-android-wear-t3238428
LG watch G is only mono core. LG watch Urbane is quad core. Did some manage to install AsteroidOS on LG watch Urbane?
Linux on TicWatch Pro?

[ROM][KERNEL] Ext4All by Skin1980 [M1D64S][Update 10.12.2016]
Hi guys, in the last update the system partition has been changed to a new FS called squashfs that is probably faster then ext4 but is also read-only and doesn't let us play with all the stuff we are used to play with. So i converted the...

Thanks for sharing. I also own such a device. Unfortunately, I had no time to try it. The Asteroid OS chat is good. But the advantage of XDA developers is, that there is a forum, and it is easier to find user reports which are very helpful. Thank you very much.
I had problems with Garmin watches to access sensor data. With a Linux watch, it would be much more simpler to access sensor data. There are project available which can run under Linux. You can find those on my Github page. There is no code on it, but you can find links to different projects:
https://github.com/PeterGamma
I bought an LG watch R and an LG Urbane to flash Linux Asteroid on it. They are quiet cheap now. I bought them for around 50 USD second hand. There is no instruction for a new watch with Linux Asteroid OS which I could find.
MagneFire from the Asteroid OS IRC chat advised to wait and see for the new Xiaomi Smart watch or new Fossile watch for Linux Asteroid OS. But where remains is the new Xiaomi Smart watch?
see also the Linux phones. I put some information together here:
PETER GAMMA (Director & Physiologist), MEDITATION RESEARCH INSTITUTE SWITZERLAND (MRIS) – The goal of the Meditation Research Institute Switzerland is to study the effect of practicing meditation on physiological parameters
may the community for Linux watches and Linux phones grow. These make things easier.
For those who are interested in a professional open source sports watch with external BLE sensors as a Garmin watch alternative, I have put the infos together here:
https://petergamma.org/read-out-sensor-data-from-the-adafruit-clue-pyloton/
Maybe it is easier to pair an external BLE sports sensor in Python under Linux with this project:
https://github.com/fg1/BLEHeartRateLogger/issues/14
I won't give up Linux Asteroid OS. I am waiting for a break through. Does the future not look bright for those great watches?
