I have setup gmail app with gmail account this part works great. Now I wanted to setup company mail (IBM Domino server) in standard mail app. Once mails are synced, sync starts all over again and this happens every 20 minutes. Then I deleted the account and setup mail in gmail app. Same thing; every 20 minutes sync starts all over again and I get notifications for all unread mails. And the worst part is that it doesn't sync calendar. Well it does for 1 minute then account disappears from Calendar app. I tried to use push mail and syncing every 30 minutes, doesn't matter, same problem. Now I have to use IBM Verse app for mails and calendar and with it, everything works.
Any idea what's happening with gmail and calendar app or how to fix it? Or any idea for alternative mail/calendar app?

I have my main email account going through gmail but it takes ages for the emails to come through.
Would I be better using the normal email app and removing the account from gmail? Does the email app have something like push notifications?
No, your Gmail account should work fine. It's push email meaning it works practically the same way as SMS: someone sends an email, Gmail will send an alert to your phone.
The Email app is crumy at best. From what I know, the Email app isn't push, but rather a constantly refreshing (at your discretion) your email boxes. In theory, it could refresh faster than Gmail, however with all the stuff that integrates with Gmail, it's not worth it.
My guess would be that you have gmail set up to pull email from your main account, which will take longer. A better approach would be to have your main email account forward to your gmail account, which will be pretty close to instant.

Agreed, I set my yahoo acct to forward to gmail and it completely bypassed yahoo and is instantaneous in gmail. I also get my phone updates within a few seconds of an email being sent.
The biggest problem I met when using Captivate is the time for email sync. I have two accounts, one Gmail and one hotmail. Normally it would took 1-2 minute to sync the Gmail account, but for the hotmail account it always costs more than 5 minutes and sometimes after 5 minute waiting it showed "connection error" sign and I have to refresh again. I tried both home wifi and 3G network, and the waiting time is similar. I don;t know how your Captivate perform in sync emails. Is my waiting time common or I need to change some setting to improve the performance? Thanks!
Is your Hotmail setup as an Exchange account or a POP account on your phone? As of 8-30, you can now use exchange for Hotmail accounts and it will push emails to your phone. The only drawback is that it doesn't support HTML emails yet, just text. Search 'Hotmail Active Exchange' for the settings.

Hello! So i'm new to the whole android scene, ive been using iPhones for 2 years, and windows mobile for years before that.
Currently on my phone, i have the gmail app for my gmail, some other email app that came with the captivate for my exchange syncing, and im using K-9 mail for my MSN email accounts (there's 3).
Everything works very well EXCEPT for the hotmail accounts. I would prefer to have all of my email accounts in 1 email app where i can open it up, pick the account and choose the folder i want to view (inbox, junk, trash, sent items, etc..)
Im having a tough time finding one... I'm ok with using 2 or 3 but 1 would of course be ideal. The biggest issue im having is the syncing. Ive tried every setting possible and my K-9 mail will not auto sync with the msn/hotmail servers. The only way to get my mail is to get into K-9 mail and tell it to sync, then after several minutes i'll have everything synced and see my new emails.
Is there an app that can combine all these, or just the hotmail accounts that will sync every hour or so automatically that anybody knows of?
Why not auto-forward your hotmail to your gmail. Or POP your hotmail from your gmail? You can set up a filter to label them as hotmail messages, or even use the multiple inbox lab.
There is no good all in one email app

MSN/Hotmail now supports full exchange sync with email, contacts and calendar. MS claims there is known issue with Android 2.1. In my case, I found the contacts sync doesn't work for me. MS advise you to use Android apps like TouchDown etc to do the sync instead.
The exchange server address is m.hotmail.com and use your email address and password to login.
So, you can use the default email app to add exchange sync for your MSN/hotmail account. The downside is that email app limits you to max two Exchange accounts.
After update to EVA-L09C432B360 if I change sync mode in native maill app from Automatic (push) to Sync every 30 minutes, mail app delete all current mails and gets stuck with message Waiting for sync. I kept app awake for 2 hours, but it made no progress. If I delete mail account and create new one, it syncs mail in a few minutes. Does anybody know how to "unstuck" mail app other then delete whole account and create it from scratch?
Kind regards,
Hi guys,
i have problem with receiving gmail's on my note8 using stock Email app from samsung which comes preloaded.
There is too much of delay in receiving gmails in this app or sometimes dont even receive emails. but exchange emails work fine with no delay.
Also it happens after long periods of phone sleep would say 7-10 minutes, i wont receive gmail on this email app or comes with big delay. but if i turn manually screen up i instantly receive emails of gmail on email app. I have also chosen auto when received option in email sync.
i have not optimized this Samsung email app for battery optimization as well.
ANY ADVICE WOULD BE appreciated.......
Not sure if this is your issue but with the Samsung email app you can set sync schedule time. But 15 mins is the shortest sync time. Or if it's set to manual then it will only receive emails when you sync manually by swiping down or when you open the app.
Maybe try the gmail app, I believe that one is instant. I use the gmail app for my gmail & I use the Samsung email app for my 2 yahoo accounts.
