I just bought a B1-850 for my ageing mother, mainly for use with Skype. Unfortunately the notification volume is too low for her - i.e. she struggles to hear an incoming Skype call (or email message). Does anyone know of a way of increasing the volume of notifications (I've already selected the maximum levels in Settings but it's still not loud enough).
I've tried "Volume Booster" (SeattleApps) and Volume Booster Plus (Doda Games) but neither made any difference.

Hi,
I have been having this problem for the last couple of days, for some reason the volume of my ringer has dramatically decreased to the point where i can't hear the phone ring when it's in my pocket (wasn't the case before). When i try to play the ring tone (it's a wave file by the way) using the media player the volume is normal and very loud, the same applies to when i play it from the settings->sounds¬ifications the volume on the ring tone is perfect, but when i receive a phone call the ringer volume is cut down by more than half, i checked the ringer volume and it's set to the max, I also did a hard reset then restored my files using the sprint backup but the problem didn't get fixed, I tried using a different ring tones and the same happens. any help would be greatly appreciated.
There are three volume controls: System, Ring and In call Volume.
Have you checked the System Volume?
If you press up on the hard volume key, you'll see arrow on the top right to switch to the next vol control. Check there.

ringtone problem
yea all 3 volumes are set to the max level
ringtone volume problem
the phone has the original stock rom from rogers (canada) hope this helps in any way
Have you got any profile managers installed (G-profile, Phoneweaver etc)?
ringtone volume problem
no i dont have a profile managers installed... so i just noticed that when the phone start ringing and i dont pick up, a second before the phone stops ringing the volume of the ringtone increases to the normal level (then stops ringing), the increase of the ringtone volume happens for like a split second after the caller hangs up and the phone stops ringing. hope this helps in any way. Thank you
Sounds like you have a Ringtone delay problem, there are a couple of solutions.
1. Disable HTC dialer (and use the Winmo one instead), can be done using Advanced Configurator 3.3.
2. Try the CAB I've attached, remember to only use WAV as ringtone though.
I would also recommend adjusting Call Forwarding timing to 30seconds. Settings/Phone/Services/Call Forwarding and get settings.
Disabling the HTC dialer is probably going to be the best solution as the HTC dialer is a hungry resource eating monster but I would just try the CAB and adjusting Call Forwarding time. There are some other REG setting as well but I never found them useful.
I was wondering if anyone had noticed certain apps not respecting the volume set for notifications.
Under settings, Sound settings, Volume, I have my Ringtone volume at maximum, my Alarm volume at maximum, my Media volume at 0, my Notification volume at 50% and "Use incoming call volume for notifications" unchecked.
Most notifications respect the volume level set for Notifications, but some, Facebook and Chrome-to-Phone, do not. They seem to use the Ringtone volume level to play their notifications, which tend to scare me out of my seat when they go off. Anyone else notice this problem?
I'm on Froyo FRF91.
Thanks
Dunno about Facebook (I have that silent) by Chrome2Phone blares out at twice the volume anyone thought possible.
Yes, the same happens to me. I also have my ringtone volume at maximum and my notification volume much lower. It's very irritating.
Here is an issue about it in the projects issue-tracker. Please star it.

Starred. Glad to know that it wasn't just a problem on my phone and that I wasn't missing something obvious.
Hey all,
I have a problem with my HTC One (M7) - after the last Android update it started to act funky. By default all my volumes (call, notification etc.) are set to maximum, then I receive a call, phone rings at set volume and after the call, the call volume lowers by itself to less than 1/3 of the original value. I have missed quite a few calls because of this and cant find a solution Has anyone else encountered this? If so, can you provide some info for getting rid of this problem? Thanks in advance
do you have "pocket mode" or "quiet ring on pickup" enabled in the sound settings?
I have pocket mode enabled and quiet ring on pickup disabled - but I dont think that is the case. Because this happens even when my phone is lying on the table display side up or even standing up leaning on books or whatever
One of my gripes with the Nexus 6 is the fact that whenever my phone rings it does so in an escalating fashion. Rather than ringing at full volume like a normal device it goes from a low volume and slowly picks up to the loud volume. The same happens with Voice Calls as well on Speaker and it is very frustrating.
Is there anyway I can disable this? Perhaps a mod to disable this system so I can have regular full volume rather than escalating volume? I keep almost missing phone calls due to this, and voice calls have been redundantly frustrating.
I was wondering the same thing!
Hopeful that there will be a rom / kernel that will change this. IIRC, Seems like I remember a tweak on some of the Gnex ones that did it.
I use a app called "Disable Increasing Ring" on my Samsung Note 2.
Don't know if it is working for Nexus 6... (don't have one, but want one)
It's in the Play store

Headset to speaker phone
The volume also does the ascending thing from headset to speaker phone which I'm not really a fan of.
the app
Worked briefly on the Nexus 6 then stopped
Any new info on this going to try the app described above and see if it works for me.
Hey guys,
I am having weird sound issues with my new P10.
When setting ringer volume to certain level, it seems to only work with the ringer when somebody calls.
It does not have an influence on WhatsApp, Gmail, text messages etc. These do sound a LOT louder.
So, I can control call ringer just fine, but basically cannot control the volume for app notifications. I also tried to lower the volume for alarm, media etc, but these apps seem to be connected with the ringer volume slider (which is of course what one would expect) but they are much louder that the call ringer.
This is my first Huawei phone so I was hoping to find some setting for this, but no luck. This is really annoying. If I do not want Gmail notifications etc to be loud, I need to lower the ringer volume to minimum, but then I have issues to hear when someone calls
Any idea what is going on?

Still searching for an solution.......
If i find one i will let you know.
P10 Plus
The P10 Plus has a same issue.
Yep, it looks like notifications sounds are not only too loud but also still present when sound is "muted"
as a temporary workaround I reduced the volume of the notifications by editing the notification files on my pc. but I am really hoping that Huawei is going to fix this soon.
sound settings do not affect videocalling with facebook messenger on my P10.
