yeah. I think its something with xposed, because when I disable it, The reboots stops and phone works fine.
and sometimes when I add a new module and restart The phone, sometimes The phone freezes in lock screen for about 5 sec then restart again. this occurs at least 3 times before The phone starts normally, and with xposed disabled this never ocurred.

Had the same problem when i updated my phone to 6.0. The problem was solved by calibrating the battery. Drain down the battery until phone switches off and then charge it to 100% while it is off overnight. At first i thought it was a myth. But really it worked. Now i can get around 24 hours + with around 3 - 3.5 hours sot from that old supposedly dying battery. Using Stock 6.0 rooted Moto X 2014.

Hello everyone.
That problem happens to me since I bought this phone, around February 2015. It wasn't so stressing, because the phone would drop from 15% to 1% and shutdown. But, it started to become even worse, as recently on a trip it shutted down with 50%. Searching for the problem I've seen that many people have this problem, some saying it's because the battery creates something inside, which I forgot the name, and it damage the cells. So recently I bought a new battery and replaced it, and then it worked fine, I could go to 1% without drops, until yesterday. It started happening again, dropped from 20% to 1%, and today again, from 18% I guess...
Now I don't know what to do, I don't know if something is damaging the battery again, hardware or software-side, or if it's the software with false percentage, or some part of the hardware, besides the battery, which is leading to some problem. I don't know, that's frustrating. Please, if someone know what's happening, share with us.
Just curious, how often you run the battery dead? A lot of people seem to mistakenly think it's good to run it low all the time which actually damages the battery over time. Some people may get lucky but I've seen lots of batteries fail way before their time that were run dead often.

That happens everyday, sometimes at 20%, sometimes 15%, sometimes even lower, like 8%. I know sometimes it's normal at like 5%, but it can't be normal at 20%, or even worse, like it was happening before, at 50%. My fear is that it starts to get worse again. I just can't accept the fact that a lot of people have this problem, I mean A LOT, and nobody finds a way to solve it, all we can find is "temporary" solutions.
I mean before that started to happen, did you purposefully run it empty all the time? Because that will shorten the lifespan of the battery. I try to charge mine before it gets down to 40% every day, but I occasionally run it down lower just to see what my screen on time on a full charge is. The other day I knew it was going to be good so I ran it down to 9% and got over 7 hours screen on time, so i know it's still working properly at least.
At least the battery is pretty easy to replace in this phone if needed. I had it apart to replace the LCD as I bought it with a shattered screen.
My ex gf went through 2 iPhone 4s, each lasted less than a year...that would randomly shut off at 50% battery or so, then show a dead battery. Hers was usually almost dead by the time it was plugged in which I'm sure contributed to the problem.

Nope, I don't do that, don't like it.
Even if I did what your ex gf did, it can't be normal to occur this just because you started charging with a low battery. Ok, doing that can damage the battery, but so fast like it happened to me? And so severe, like shutting with 30% left? I can't believe this is normal.
It can cause that, but normally not until the battery is about a year old. At least in the case of her iPhone 4s and the replacement did as well. Whereas a battery that's taken care, not run low all the time or left on charger all the time can last over 3 years.

Damn it all. I have the infamous, random, crazy battery drain that ICS has plagued android users with. After googling i've found no permanent solutions. I'm drawing anywhere between 500mah to 2100mah without doing anything. g'ah!
Did you turn off all notifications? Did you check to see if GPS and other battery-draining services are off? My battery seems fine, and I'm on my phone all day!

Shut your phone down and pull the battery for at least 10 seconds. Then put the battery back in a start it back up.

I know. thanks, but it didn't work for me. I tried numerous "fixes", but all are temporary fixes. Theres a bug in the ICS kernel that hasn't been fixed. I, after trying numerous methods, just left it alone for a while. Surprisingly it seems to have gone away on its own. Not sure if its something I did or not, but so far so good.

i'm using the mugen 5400mah extended battery.i've optimized my phone in terms of power usage and i've been quite pleased with it until i posted this. It a known bug in the ics kernel. No one knows where it stems from or how its permanently fixed, but its random. My phone, just sitting, started drawing 500mah to 2100mah out of no where. I only noticed when i looked at my phone just to check the time and saw my battery widget showing some crazy numbers. So yeah....

Mine is hit or miss, doing the same things with the phone at the same places every day, some days it is decent and I will have 40-50% left when I get home, other days (like today) it was almost totally dead. That's with sync and wifi on, but location turned off. Its decent, but far from great IMO.
The battery life is WAY better than my wife's Nexus 5, but it is garbage compared to my international Note 2 I was using previously. I'd have 70-80% left when I got got home doing the same stuff as I am with the S5, plus I would leave Bluetooth, wifi, sync, location, and GPS on all the time.

Holding up much better than my S4 which I returned as I could barely get it to go 3/4 of a day without dying with normal usage. Now I end the day with at least 30% left. Also outperforming my iPhone 5S which would be close to dead by the end of the day. Very impressed!
great battery
I had an S3 before. When left alone at night, I can see phone 'Awake' numerous times. As viewed from Battery settings.
Except Gmail, I had sync disabled on every app. I also had most of the apps greenified. Still phone wakes up numerous times at night when not in use.
With S5, I have installed all the apps I had on S3. I have configured only few of them. None of them are greenified now. Also, I have left more apps to sync in background. Previous night, in the 9 hrs I left it alone, it woke only 2 times. Thats really good. In that 9 idle hours, battery dropped only 4%.
Battery is similar to the m8 (very good)... I'm thinking I'm going to have to return the htc

I'm really not getting very good battery life at all. I am shocked when I hear of others getting 5+ hours of screen on time. I'm getting nowhere near that and unfortunately for me I'm on my phone all day for work (calls, emails, etc.) because I work from home. This is also my 2nd SGS5. The first was having major screen issues and the capacitive buttons stopped lighting up for some reason.

Have you disabled all of the built in apps you aren't using? Try to cycle your battery. Go on your Google account and disable sync on thin you don't need. Or call ATT and ask for a replacement under warranty maybe your battery is bad. They are very good when it comes to warranty exchanges. Best of luck.

Fantastic battery life so far. Since unplugging it from the charger Wednesday morning, my battery is at 86% this morning! I do have the power saving mode on (not the ultra power saving mode, the regular one), and don't use it a whole lot during the day (not for hours on end at least, just a few minutes here and there)
Better battery life that I was getting on my S4.
I average about 5-6 hours screen time every day no matter if on WiFi or data.... I bet I could crack 7 if I was on Wi-Fi the whole time but yeah, coming from the nexus 5, this thing kicks the crap out of it in battery department

Nope I have not this problem, even I'm heavy chat user.

I just got my phone a couple of days back so I am not sure the reset will help much.

This solved my problem regarding the phone turning of at 50% battery or 37% etc. You will see after applying the settings the battery percentage will change and show the real battery life.
I got this solution from a Google tech.
1) Power off your phone.
2) Press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons. This will put the phone in fastboot.
3) Use the Volume buttons to scroll through the menu until you see "Bootloader logs"
4) Press and hold the power key for a long time (7+ seconds) until the phone reboots.

I returned my phone a few weeks ago because of this issue and got a replacement from Motorola . I do notice certain kernels will create this situation moreso than the stock rom or stock kernel will not create this issue so that's also something to think about.
However, thanks for the insight should my replacement phone display the same symptoms.
Edit: interesting, I just tried your suggestion and my battery went from 91% to 66%.

On occasion at work but not at home. Sounds like another cause. Why would it if I may ask?
I actually find them to be silly as you must plug the charger base via USB which I can do with phone! Just another step IMHO including finding the sweet spot when resting on charger.

By using a regular 5v charger instead of the idiotic 5/9/12v charger that came with it.
I am having the below issue.
1. If phone is around the 30% mark, and I receive a call, it would just switch off.
2. If i reboot the phone with it being around 30% mark, it will just switch off after displaying the lockscreen.
Is this behavior that is same as the one in the thread?
I tried the mentioned steps and my battery percentage stayed the same. It also shows the same battery percentage in TWRP.

Yes exactly the same problem. Keep pushing the power button a few seconds longer after phone switches off. My problem was fixed but a week later it came back. For others it was fixed permanently. No I am not using any wireless charger. I only use the turbo charger at home and a 2A N7 charger at work.
I am waiting for 5.1 and will run it for a few days to test . Hope that 5.1 will fix this issue.
Also Google suppport asked me to reboot into safe mode and see if the issue is still there.
Just tried this and it went from 82 to 85%.
I have an issue where the phone turns off at 5%
I have this problem currently with my N6 and it is beyond madding.
First it would do it only when the phone was getting to 30~35% tried the fix.
Now the phone crashes it all the time. 80% crash, charge for a little bit use again 85% crash, charge to 100% use streaming a movie from google play 65% crash. now im going to try a custom rom to see if that will fix it.
tried the fix several time only seems to make it worse.
even with a blank install after reinstalling the stock img the phone will crash.
I regularly have scenarios like this.
- phone is at 27% battery
- few minutes later it beeps and shows 14%
- 30 seconds later - 5%
- few more seconds and it shuts down.
I don't run anything special and through the day it lowers steady (although 100 to 27 in 12 hours is not that great).
I run official 5.0.1 rom and never unlocked bootloader.
So is it a problem with a phone, the battery or just OS that sucks?
Anyone else having the issue?

Most likely it's the battery. Have you looked to see what is using the battery in settings?

Nothing unusual running. I think Android OS was main battery user, may be with hour and half of screen time.
In this specific instance I was running Toyota app while driving.
But similar things happened before without those factors. And mostly it worked ok in the car as well.

How many hours total on battery do you think?

I took it off charger at 7am and drops started around 6pm. It was going down evenly during this time.

Sorry I forgot that was in your OP. Did you look at the battery to see if it was hot or bulging even slightly? Personally for the $15 it takes to get a new battery, I would. Worst case scenario is you end up with a spare. I don't know how old your device (and this your battery) is, but it's not uncommon after 9+ months for them to start dying.

Yes, it probably makes sense to get new battery. I got the phone last November or December but problem started early summer. Seems pretty short time for battery to go bad.
Thank you

It's not unheard of by any stretch. Heat will kill them fast as well. Does the phone ever get hot?

I haven't noticed it being hotter than other phones I used. Yet I carry it in external pouch so would not always feel it.
It definitely wasn't hot when battery was dropping.
More over, last time I turned it off for 3 hours at 14% and when turned it on, drop just continued and it was 5% in 30 seconds.

I got not only a new battery but a new phone and have been experiencing a similar problem. Seriously might just jump ship to the N5. Any suggestions on what else to try? I really don't want to shell out $20 for yet another battery if it's not guaranteed to fix anything. I'm running PopRocks v14 with the stock kernel. Any suggestions?
I had the exact same issue. It was from letting the battery die too often. A new battery fixed the issue 100%

That's true. Running it down to 1% all the time definitely shortens the life. I'll try to find the article I read that interviewed battery scientists.
