Yes, I wish some of the ROM creators would publish the full list of exactly what they remove.
I also don't really know but can only guess that one way to debloat would be to root the device, then use TitaniumBackup to either freeze or wipe undesired apps and libraries off the system. Some might seem obvious but others might not, hence the usefulness of having a master list as a guide.
You can't just wipe everything by Samsung because some of the packages are used by other Samsung apps. Exactly which ones are not necessary would be nice to know.
Personally I would look for stuff like "music", "books", "videos", "newstand", "games", "weather" etc. stuff if you're never going to use from Google or Samsung. Kind of similar to what you delete from the Windows 8 Start Screen
One nice thing about TitaniumBackup is that you can freeze things before wiping them, to see if they really are necessary or not.
There's a helpful thread on the topic here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...-1-master-remove-debloat-freeze-list-t3409361

I'd like it to be proof-read by somebody else. Not meaning to be disparaging to your possible skill, but a guide written with the same rampant disregard of English shown here is likely to lead to confusion. Guides and tutorials should be written mindful of the fact that exactness and clarity is required.
I would really like to know how to sign a ROM... mainly because I'd like to be able to modify existing ROMs with different apps and ringtones prior to flashing, which would be MUCH easier than having to do everything through Terminal after flashing.
It would help if there was a list of hero apps that would work when creating a normal G1 rom (not hero).

I'd like a section dealing with modifying-upgrading the kernel, ramdisk, and really anything dealing with the boot and recovery images (since I've already learned most of the workings of the system partition)

Thank you every one that have posted guides and made it so easy.
And thank you Cyanogen for your perfect Room!!
But I have some questions:
1. Can anyone list the best rooted apps, and dose it exist an list of all rooted apps?
2. is there any way to remove programs from the program menu(start menu)?
and where is the list of the programs on the program menu listed?
3. Is there any way to implement proxy settings in wifi settings?
In advance
Thanks for all help!!

I've seen posts regarding every single question you wrote. Search a little bit before posting and try to post in the correct section.

hey man, thanks for your response.........
i did my research of course and had a little idea now on how to do the rooting, but just wanted to see if there are different instructions on rooting a device.
since the OP said he have just rooted it, might as well ask him to point me to the right direction.
i believed, i have also said that i will appreciate that info.
coming from a totally different device, i hope you understand why am i asking? since a thread has been opened already.

look around the development thread, and use google. from those, i was able to unlock, root, and install enom's ROM w/o too much trouble. using the 'spare parts' app in enom's ROM, you can uninstall things you couldn't before, like amazon.mp3, for which i have no use.
i don't know about proxy wifi settings, never had to mess with it. that seems like a browser condition, not a ROM condition tho. could fix thru router tho, if you're at home. MAC address proxy assignment would be your best bet, i would think.
only rooted apps i use are adfree, andexplorer, and metamorph, i think.
but, i am able to push whatever i want
I am Newbie and I Just Rooted my phone.
So what can I do Know?
I did the Wi-Fi Tethering and Worked.
I downloaded Metamorph but didn’t found any Themes.
I want to delete Sprint Apps, and don't know how to...
Want to change the lock screen, but without changing the ROM...
Anybody could come with a List of what people can do, know that the phone is rooted.
BTW I am Running Sprint 2.1

Click on the link and download Fresh Kitchen.
You can create a nandroid, remove the bloatware, change the current lockscreen, create your own rom.

Welcome to the world of root!
While what Dave provided is in no way bad or wouldn't help you accomplish what you want, I suggest looking up adb commands.
Check out the main wiki thread in my sig. It will have a thread called "How to Remove Stock Apps, etc."
Once you have looked a little there, post back and let us know if you can't find some information, and we'll gladly help you out.
I've got to agree with Riggs, while Kitchens are nice for people who know what they're doing, I'm a firm beleiver that people just starting out should use ADB as much as possible.
I'm brand new and hoping to get some advice if possible. I was able to root the phone with no problem thanks to the One Click Root Program so thank you to the Unlockr and to the thread on here.
Now, I'm not sure what to do about a custom ROM. I honestly just want to get rid of the AT&T bloatware. Other than that I have no requirements. I don't really care other than that as long as I can get rid of things that I don't want.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

since you got root, to remove att junks: install root explorer from android market and uninstall each junk manually. for custom firmware search forum for clockwork recovery (rom manager from market) and read instruction on op to install. gudluck
This doesn't belong in development.

Download titanium backup which is free. It allows you to uninstall apps. Even system apps. Read and be careful. For the most part avoid all Google apps
Captivate
Cog 2.4
Thank you! I appreciate the help so far.
I apologize for posting in the wrong section. I thought I was in the right place but that was my mistake.
This thread can be deleted. I was able to root it and get Cognition on it with no trouble.
Thank you to everyone involved with the development and donations will follow soon.
Hi All,
I'm new to Android/Rooting. I used the SOC root method to root the phone, and now I have some questions I'm sure more knowledgeable folks can answer.
First and foremost, I know a recovery is in the works/testing phase and will soon allow alternate ROMS to be loaded. Until that time, I need to know what apps/processes I can safely remove from my phone without bricking it.
I know I can and have killed Bing and BingVoice. As well as stupid apps like Blockbuster, CityID etc....
What about things like VCast Apps? Verizon Media manager? Widgets?
There seems to be a lot of processes running in the background that I have no idea what they do.
I know each phone has different bloatware, is there a list for the Revolution?
Also what is the difference between uninstalling and freezing an App? Is there a free way to freeze an app?
Thanks for any advice
Yeah all the vzw apps can go

Thanks. I was unable to find such a thread before I posted here. Can you please point me to it?
Is it better to freeze an app or uninstall it? Are there free apps to freeze an app?
