Hello MIUIers,
This Guide is for flashing any MIUI Rom (Global/China Developer/Global Beta Build/Stable ROM) on Redmi 2 using MI Flash and Fastboot ROM(Fastboot Method).
FAQs
Q.What's the difference between Recovery ROM and Fastboot ROM?
A: 1) To flash Recovery ROM, you just need to put the ROM file into your device's SD card root directory, and flash it in Recovery mode. Flashing Recovery ROM will not wipe your user data or the files in internal storage.
A: 2) To flash Fastboot ROM, you'll need to connect your device to a computer, and use ROM flashing tools. You can choose different fastboot script to decide whether to wipe data or not
Q: When should I flash Recovery ROM, and when to flash Fastboot ROM?
A: Normally you just need to flash Recovery ROM for regular update. If you want to wipe data to solve some bugs/issues etc., you should flash Fastboot ROM.
Caution:**This ROM and thread is Only applicable for 2014818, 2014811, 2014813 and 2014817 Redmi 2/PRIME LTE models...
Everything is possible in FASTBOOT
Pre-requisite:
At least 50% charged phone
USB cable to connect your phone
A working PC running on Windows OS
Developer option must be enabled. To do this Settings>>About phones >> tap on the MIUI Version 7 times
USB debugging must be enabled. To enable it Settings >> Additional Settings>>Developer Options >> enable USB Debugging.
Note: Take a backup before you proceed. To take backup Settings–>Additional Settings–> Backup & reset –>Local Backup-→Backup. The backup will be store on Internal Storage–>MIUI -> Backup–>All Back up. Copy and store the backup files on your PC. This backup file will be needed if you wants to go back of previous version.

If you have any custom recovery installed, flash custom ROM through SD card.
It's your pc's problem change to laptop and USB cables it will definitely work.

Hey, I have a problem with my Redmi 2 version 2014813 and I can only access TWRP, whenever I try to flash any compatible ROM I get the errors I attached in the picture.
Also when I try to flash via fastboot it fails --> fastboot flash partition gpt_both0.bin --> FAILED to write partition
Any idea how to try to fix this? You think your scrip for the partition table can help?

I tried many different ways to flash any ROM into it without any success. I read somewhere in the miui eu forums that the redmi2 pro had a stupid software update that was not meant for one type of emmc and broke it. Someone who contacted the Chinese support got his/her phone swapped or money back.
I still have the phone in same condition hoping to manage one day to replace the emmc chip. I think that will fix the issue.
EDIT: original post:
"Bad news - Redmi 2 the series 2014813 has faulty NAND memory. After 1 to 1.5 year of operation the memory dies. First warning is "App stopped working" message. Then the phone dies and after rebooting you see just the Mi logo.
Flashing new ROM usualy fixes this problem and phone works for 1-2 months without problems. Then the fault apears again and it is end for the phone. You can enter fastboot mode, TWRP, but there is no was how to write any data to internal memory. Fastboot, TWRP nor MiFlash do not work because this is a hardware problem. The only way is replacing NAND memory, but this is extremely complicated task." source: http://en.miui.com/thread-268891-3-1.html

Firstly, install mediatek vcom drivers, don't use the add hardware option in device manager. Right click proper .inf file in explorer and click install, click continue with the installation on the warning prompt. If you are on Windows 8/8.1/10 search for how to install unsigned drivers and do the same. Then download the twrp package from this forum. It should have boot.img and recovery.img . Install with sp flash tool, select the scatter file from the folder and make sure both boot and recovery are ticked. Go to options ->download and make sure both checksums are ticked. SP flash tool dropdown menu should show download only. Click download/start/whatever and connect powered off phone with a good data cable. Flash should start and it'll finish soon. Now disconnect data cable, press both volume buttons firmly and press power button. Don't let go unless you see a Lenovo logo. It should boot into TWRP. You custom ROM may not boot but now you have TWRP.
Edit: Here is the TWRP link http://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-a7000/development/twrp-recovery-lenovo-a7000-mm-t3358436. Do NOT untick boot.img. If you can't get to recovery you must flash boot.img as well

Hi i tried your way, but i got error error.
here is how i proceeded:
where i made a mistake?
There are two possibilities here,
1. Your phone is not really A7000, rather it is A7000 plus or turbo
2. The installed partitions are different enough that SP Flash tool refuses to flash it.
You can try to flash the stock rom S228 if you are sure it is lenovo A7000. If it again throws out same error and you are perfectly SURE it is lenovo a7000, you can try to format first and then flash the rom, although it is not recommended.

hello there
i have Xiaomi Mi Mix 256gb +6gb ram , the full story in summary is that :
the phone before the issue was on global official rom Version: V8.2.1.0.MAHMIDL (MIUI8)
the phone is bootloader unlocked with no root and on official xiaomi recovery
unfortunately yesterday i try to install new recovery in order to get a root and full permission on this device and to over take the restricted mi ui system
So through minimal adb tools i successfully flash this recovery twrp-3.0.2-0 by MrRaines_from here and there flash this root (SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3) at that time evey think was ok i reboot my device and get full acecss to my device through superuser apps
then i install this apps from google play ( Sytem app remover from here )

and i get root access then try to remove the securty system apps ! ( due to it is restrict installing apps from usb mode and every time is ask for permission to install apps and i want to install bulk of apps in same time so it is so annoying to click the install permission on the device !! )
after that the device is do alof of lag and boot lop so i try to enter recovery mode again and make a full factory reset ( by using wipe option in twrp-3.0.2-0 recovery )
i do full reset but did not know whey the phone state that you have no system os in the device !
so i try to flash a rar official global rom through usb-c flash memory ! but every time it state error flashing
so i try to install rom through PC by intering fatboot mode and using mi flash tools ( using global flashboot rom from here
with no any hope and again error statment
so i try to flash the rom in recovey mode through offical mi pc suite also no hope , i try to flash official mi recovey thinking that will solve the issue of flashing offical rom through PC
so i flash the official recovery
i try to flash the official rom through pc - mi flash 2016 ( in fastboot mode ) with no hope
then try to flash official global rom through pc ( mi recovery mode ) in English mi pc suite with no hope
then try to flash official global rom through pc ( mi recovery mode ) in Chinese mi pc suite from here with no hope
but if mistakely flash this file ( get it from so friends that try to solve the issue as he said it will solve the fastboot and recovery flashing ! )
mione_plus_images_4.12.5_4.1_cn_c82d90f6ee from here or this https://nofantz.blogspot.co.id/2016/08/firmware-xiaomi-fastboot-mode.html
try it in offical xiaomi recovery mode through chinese mi pc suite and it accept flashing ! then it nere accept to flash any rom !
and i retry all previous step with no any hope to solve the issue !
so i try to do last choice by enter fastboot mode again and re install costume recovery and flash a costume rom like EpicROMGlobal_V8.2.1.0._MrRaines_MrTomatico_v1.0
but unconditionally when i try to do that ( entering fastbood mode ) the device is look like to be turnd off with no any response ! just black screen and no any sign of normal working i can not enter recovery mode again can not enter fastboot again !! try to connect to charging no LED light !
try to connect to PC it just appear that the device is recognized by pc by hearing a sound of usb flash connection ( as a routine sound like u connect any usb device ) !
then a driver is installed it was Qualcomm_USB_Driver
and the device in just black screen appearance
if i try to flash through mi flash program it identify the device as
and the string think is that when i connect the device through Wondershare MobileGo it identfy the device as this name Vestel VSP 355g ! ( before the issue in normal state the program identify the phone as it name mi mix but in this state never ! )
now the phone is in black screen state with no any response
no LED light when try to charging or connect to pc
no recovey mode
no fastboot mode
can not flash it through MI pc suite ( chinses of english version )
can not flash through Mi flash
can not identified by Mininmal adb tools
jut i hear the sound when i connect the device to PC or pressing the power button or power bottom and volume key
Now is there any hope to get the phone back to normal state or it is totally hardware dead phone
thanks for god i try this last chance to save my phone
my phone is like that same video issue with changing device !
try this tip to Disable Driver Signature in windows 10
then i flash the fastboot rom via mi flash 2016 ( chinese rom the only one which can solve the issue )
now i finaly can get into fastboot mode
but the recovery mode is strange it is in Chinese languages mi recovery v 3.0
i will update the result when i get full functioning phone
Finally now my phone is fully functioning and i am in the offical global rom V 8.2.1
Thanks to god
It is solved

Thanks wzsx150 for it's TWRP for Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, some decrypt stuff taken from it.
This is f*cking awesome. Thank you for your efforts. Will install asap and bring some feedback.
Is it working ? Any custom roms then ?
Please provide custom ROM the official ROM is no less than terrible and bad.
Finally compiled TWRP with decryption support, added in first post

There are some "globalised" china roms which are doing a decent job (with notifications sound fixed, chinese bloatware removed and google services installed), I recommend the one made by Francko76.
Also you can try all the treble stuff out there. I only tried two GSIs so far and I went back to Francko´s build.
Anyway I´m like you looking forward z6 pro dedicated custom roms.

Restore stock bootloader?
Hello, I recently went through the whole process of unlocking bootloader, installing TWRP recovery and flashing ROM, and I am at version 11.0.350 ST ROW currently.
The ROM works fine, but now at every boot I am greeted by the "The boot loader is unlocked and software integrity cannot be guaranteed. <snip> Press power button to pause boot/continue" notice.
According to google, it's apparently a result of the bootloader unlocking process.
I tried to lock the bootloader again using "fastboot flashing lock", but then the phone stopped booting normally. It got stuck at the boot logo (which I believe means bricked?).
It wouldn't work until I unlocked bootloader and reflash the ROM.
So what I want to ask is, is it possible at this time to restore the bootloader to stock to avoid that "boot loader unlocked" notice and possibly become eligible for warranty again?

Do you try flash qfil rom after lock bootloader?
Hi, my wife gifted me that Chopin phone form China, after a wrong "flash and lock" global firmware now my phone is stuck on bootloader.
According to this thread:

I have all the files needed to setup sp flash and try to put again the Rom in the phone, which is now not unlocked and no usb debugging on.
Can someone please give me a tutorial on how to use those files? My phone still not recognised in sp flash com port, I don't know how to do.
If anyone will help me it will be so appreciated, thanks!
If you need to disable authorisation, did you run the MTK Auth Bypass tool and get the message "Protection disabled"? That's what I had to do before SP Flash Tool would flash the phone (without disconnecting it or rebooting), and I also had to set the baud rate to 921600, although that was all under Linux, and the phone was still unlocked.
it's complicated. with phone locked fastboot commands don't work. with my hold mi a3 fastboot flashing unlock command work. but with miui and mtk chipset probably it's useless. but u can try. if u boot into bootloader with mediatek driver the pc should recognize your phone also if it's blocked
1: Unzip this attached file into a folder. run it.
2: select the unlock bootloader and start, then connect you phone via usb with all three buttons pressed. (Phone must be off before connect, )

3: Your bootloader will be unlocked.
4: Close the program and re-start again, this time, select auth bypass and start, then repeat the phone connection. after at the bottom line, it show bypass ok.
from here you may flash again rom via Miflash or SPflash.
P.S: I think the file size is too big, I can not attach it here. Sorry! P.M me if you wish.

1. Check your device driver for USB, suggest you re-install the MTK usb driver.
2. First run the program, select the Auth by pass then press start.
3. Make sure phone is in "power off" state, press Vol+, Vol- and power (all three at the same time), and don't release it, plug in USB cable and wait.... Don't release these three buttons until it is Auth by pass OK.
During this process, take a look at device manager, there must be one item like portable device - USB ( Com 3). keep flashing.
sure u add reinstall mtk driver
Tried many drivers, always same result:
Driver says the device can't start. Tried to install lisbus too but no changes.

you "must" remove (uninstall) the driver first then re-install the MTK usb driver again.

I did that many times, with win 10 no drivers signed mode, with many different mtk drivers but nothing was working. I'll try clean my windows and then start again with the drivers.
