This is for those who have previous generation of OnePlus phones. Dash charging seems to work flawlessly with OP2. My colleague in office took my charger to try out and we were both surprised when his OP2 didnt blew or got hot . Yet to test it out with a OP1 as i dont have any. Would be nice if someone can test and let others know.
But it doesn't charge as quick, right?
Of course it'll work, it'll work on any other phone, just behaves like a regular charger.
Tap-a-talked from my Nexus 7
ofc the charger works but probably not with the full 4 or 3.5 Amps as it does with the OnePlus 3
Dude, I've charged my, Anker power banks, my Vita, my PSP, my OnePlus One, my Bluetooth game pad, my LG G watch, and my 2DS. The DASH wall wart still behaves like any regular USB wall wart. Seems like it charges them at the standard 2.4amps

Not true!
There is a YouTube guy who tried it, you can see in his video that his OP2 charges, but not 60% in 30 minutes. But the charger is compatible, but not as fast as OP3 (which has Dash support ofc)
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
If works mean charging, it surely will, just like QC charger works on non-QC devices.
But the thing is OP2 has no support on neither QC 2.0 or VOOC(from OPPO, or DASH, which Oneplus names it), while the latter brings the advantage by extra pins.
So OP2 does not support QC in whatever protocol.
Stop this thread it's nonsense and a waste of time.

Does anyone have any information about a wireless charging option? I mean the s3 was supposed to have it but until now nothing and I fear for the note

Can you elaborate please? I mean the only reason I'm asking is for instance the S3 has been announced with it, so I guess the NoTe2 has the aptitude. plus as you can see on the picture there are two vacant connector pins which are quiet similar to the Nfc ones. It should be their purpose no?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
We know the S3 was announced with it, but it still isn't available in most of the world. Samsung is being very slow about it, and seeing how the S3 does not have a proper one yet, the Note 2 probably won't see one anytime this century.
I found this on eBay.

That's a Palm Pre Touchstone unit, which you can buy for about a fifth of that.

Yes the note2 has wireless charging.
You just need the unit.
Since the Note 2 uses a higher mA rate, will the currently available wireless chargers be effective? It worked on the GS3 due to a lower charging rate I assume. I saw posts where people stated they used 1A chargers from prior devices and it hardly charged their Note
2 at all.
Edit - I just realized a few minutes ago, you can use the 2A wall plug from your Note 2 right? Lol

So does this confirm then that the panel on the back of the Note II is ONLY the NFC antenna not a combined NFC and induction charging panel, as some people are claiming?
I did wonder what the other two connectors were all about, now it seems clear THEY are where the induction coil will attach if you have the official kit.

Why not send it back to sammy for replacement? I swear some of you guys go round robins barn looking for replacement this or that when all you gotta do is send it back to sammy. Even if you bought it second hand, I'm sure they will replace the cable. I've taken my phones into other carriers and had them replace trivial stuff... Like dead cables.

I just buy a bunch of cables from monoprice. They're cheap and I haven't seen any difference compared to the original samsung cable. Since all the phones in the house are android phones, it's easy to just buy micro usb cables in bulk.
Why buy anything if you don't have to? I could have that cable and wall charger replaced with a 5 minute phone call. That's my philosophy anyhow.

any cheapo USB-microUSB will work to charge the phone. I use the one that came it it a lot, but I have extra cheapo in the car, in a bag I take to work, another in my backpack for school, a few more around the house.
For charging, they're fine. To transfer data, just fine too. Where I notice a difference between cheapo and the one that came with the phone is when I WiFi Tethering and using the MHL adapter while streaming a movie or sporting event. Neither can keep the phone charged, but the cheapos, the GN2 drains the battery faster. 20% per hour vesus 10%.
Thus, if you have a cable from other phones you don't use anymore, just use it. Although, I like the calling Samsung idea.
I bought this one and has worked like a charm

Hi All,
I got myself a Magnetic dock, charging cable and a power jacket. All of ebay and now sony articles.
Charging is a nightmare with all of them.
Either it doesn't charge at all or charging is intermitant.
Does anyone know if the magnet has any other function but keeping the charger connected, or does it trigger a switch?
Well hope to hear from you all.

The magnet on the magnetic charging cable only ensures the charging connections are connected to the phone, at least that is the one I have anyway.
II just put it in the dock connected to a charger (sony output 1500mA) and after a while there was a message on the screen that the system was not charging.
Do I need a higher output mA?
Do you know which connector is which (+/-) so I could try with wires to try to figure out what is wrong.
You are using it with a charger right and not connected to a computer or any other unit besides the charger? As the magnetic charger is only designed for use with a charger and not an ordinary usb device (As a usb on a computer). The magnet in the middle holds the cable and phone together, whilst the the two dots on the sides of the magnet works as the charging source +-.
If you got a cheap magnetic charger cable/dock handy so can you open up the cable on that one to see which one is +- as they usually are color coded under the isolation cable. Then track them back to the +- on the charger connector and then you know.
Yes i am using a charger. I will proceed with opening up the dock. Thanks for the reply

The strange thing is that the led blinks orange as if it starts and stops charging all the time
Hmm that's odd.
Are you sure that the phone sits securely in the dock or that the charger is connected correctly? You can try to clean the ports on both the phone and charger with some paper, then turn the phone all the way off and then while it is off connect it to the charger to see if it will charge normally then. If that does not help, try to contact Sony support as it most likely is something wrong with either the charger cable and/or dock or the phone itself.
even when turned off it won't charge..... Dock and cable are all chinees imitation..... might not fit... will give it a try with bare metal connections (just wires) and see what happens.
I purchased an original dk31 from sony and my phone charges perfectly
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
So they are not official Sony chargers? Then the problem most likely lays there as copycats some times are made with a poor cable type which does not send the correct amount off power to the unit. I would recommend you to try with an official magnetic charger from Sony, as some copycats can even hurt the unit itself. But thats what I would have done though.
The charger is original, the dock and cable are chinees.... Will proceed with testing and keeping you posted.

I have N7 so I'm using that charger (it's 2.0)
And when I'm charging using magnetic cable, battery is charged in one hour (+/- few mins)

According to sultanxda (developer legend for OPO), implementing Dash charging would not be very hard on OP3 by utilizing driver from the similar OPPO device: https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/co...ash_charging_source_code_not_released/d4ejg67
So even if OP does not eventually release this, we may not be totally screwed.

Hopefully this isn't as difficult as it was to get fingerprint sensor working on OP2 ROMs. I read Sultan's note about Oppo headers for VOOC charging but still can't believe OnePlus push the 1+3 as being a developer friendly device and leave out the source code for one of their biggest features in dash charge. Hopefully this gets fixed soon and gets more traction from the community so OnePlus responds
Sidenote: @Grarak had dash charge working using private sources so is he simply not using that moving forward because they didn't end up releasing them/out of respect for their choice? Feel like if we have the sources once we should be good to go but I guess since it's private proprietary drivers it could be a licensing issue

I was referring specifically to the sources in the private kernel used in your first CM build which had dash charging working to my understanding and not moving forward. My question being if it is a licensing issue which has had you remove those sources or something to that effect?

I think rather than "protecting" any sort of OPPO IP in regards to DASH/VOOC charging, it felt more like an attempt to make sure we buy their charger for fast charging. Since DASH charging does not really go up to 4A, but rather only peak around 3A at most, there really isn't any need for a special DASH charger and special cable. All you need is generic USB Type C 3A charger and regular cable... And by the secrecy around the code, I think what they fear is that we will just enable 3A fast charging whenever we see a normal USB type C with 10K resistor.
I have noticed that when i add only the charge to DeX (the one from Note8 box) and the original cable, it does not say "Fast Charging".
Is it yours the same?
Dex does not support fast charging which is a shame
It can't because of how Quick charge works. Passing data through the data cables because you can't push data and power through the same lines. That's why PD is a better option(See Nexus 5X-Newer and Pixel). Of course marketing will always win.

I think it should at least give 1.5A charging like most standard chargers do. Don't quote me though best to ask Samsung. I just know the way QC works it uses data lines for charging to get faster charging so it can't do both.
