1) Copy the theme file of your choice (.hwt) from the HWTheme folder to your PC
2) Open the .hwt file with Winrar
3) Locate the file framework-res-hwext and open it with Winrar
4) Navigate to folder \res\drawable-xxhdpi
5) Copy or replace the wallpaper of your choice, in PNG format, with a resolution of 1047 x 1312, filename cover_background_default.png
In order to have both the original and the modified themes available in the Themes app, I edited the description.xml file in order to use a different name for the modified theme.
Save the .hwt file, copy it to the HWThemes folder and apply the new theme and give it a try! ?

This doesn't work. I've tried it several times. I have the Marshmallow update on my Honor 5X. The wallpaper you put in there shows up, but there is still another section above it that displays the stock wallpaper over it in a smaller window. It looks terrible. So this might work if you are still using Lollipop, but the update seems to break it.

I'm on marshmallow too. My device is not an Honor 5X though, it's a Mate 7.
Since you are not using a Mate 7, you may need to use a different resolution than ours. A suggestion would be to check the resolution of the original wallpaper.

I actually figured out the issue. I have my display settings set under view mode to small. If you set it to anything but large, this issue happens. Give it a try on yours and see if it is a universal issue. The moment I set it back to large, the screen was filled. This is a ROM issue for Huawei to resolve I think.

That isn't the issue though. The issue is that they seem to have an added overlay that includes their default wallpaper. So no matter what I set it to, that overlay displays on top of the one I set. On top of that, if I set the view mode in the display settings to anything other than large, it shrinks that overlay and you end up with what I shared in that screenshot. It's a ROM based issue as far as I can tell.
EMUI Theme editor
to chage smart cover wallpaper I think this is easiest way:
install EMUI theme editor from play store or Aptoide
open it and choose your current theme
change "S view" and save your theme
finish

This is great app. But I cannot find any wallpaper in download section. The list is empty. Is there anyway to store one on sdcard, so to be able to start using the program?
What phone model are you using ?
It will detect the resolution of the phone and present the Wallpaper that is tailor to your screen size
this might be off topic but in the last screenshot what is the name of that widget you are using?

I'm using HTC Tattoo which is qvga(240x320). I suppose that there isn't any theme for that resolution, but the default program's wallpaper(this with the instuctions) appears fine and I can choose it as wallpaper. So I think that I can make or edit another theme and resize it to fit to this resolution. But where can I find them or how can I do this and where must put them?
this only work for android 2.1 and above which support livewallpaper.
resolution supported are: 320x480 (HTC Hero/Magic etc), 480x800 (Nexus One etc), 480x854 (Droid etc)
where can i find the one with the hands in the screenshot above...
The hand in the screenshot look for "desire"

suggest to do in the next release
1- fix some FC in froyo
2- fix some reflection after do customization
3- add option to remove object
this is for now. i will go more and report.
you are the man
cheers
Works great on HTC desire, would happily pay for this app.
Looking nice and promising, i'll try as soon as possible
Ok, looks great, but other than moving certain elements around, how do we actually customize (make our own) lwp?? Is there some kind of PC app to download? Is it web based?
I guess I'm asking, whats running on the laptop?
Im not able to download or install any of the wallpapers on my unrooted desire
im not able to install this /htc hero cdma
says problem parsing package
On my Desire, it says there's a sd card problem, cannot read
Looks really cool
I am trying to modify the background of the pull notification pull down screen in Cyanogenmod 6.00 RC0. I am assuming this image is the one in the framework-res.apk, in the drawable-mdpi folder, named 'status_bar_background.png'.
I want it to look like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
with the Modest 'mouse' image at the bottom of the screen when you pull down the notification. However after I edit it and push the new framework-res.apk to the phone and reboot it ends up looking like this:
Is there any way to make it so that the mouse only shows up at the bottom of the screen and only one time?
Another question is why isn't the semi-transparency applied so that i can see my home screen behind the pull down screen like in the original:
I attached the pngs that I have been working with, and the original framework-res.apk
Thank you for any help.
P.S. Modest Mouse is indie rock band that I highly recommend you give a listen to.
I'm not an expert but here my comments.

You will have to change the resolution size of the image to match the screen. Currently status_bar_background.png is 120 x 120 px. So having a image of 120 x 120 it will filled the screen with multiple of same image. You can try modify your image so it fit the screen by change the resolution but it a trial and error case.

I checked the image and it not semi-transparency so that the reason you don't see the home screen. You might need to modify with any photo editing software to make semi-transparency.

Thank you,
I was able to get it working and pushed it using metamorph. Now it is time to try messing around with other images.
Modest mouse is one of my favorite bands, and I'd love to have that on my hero. Could you make a flashable, or at least upload it?

Nice to see another Modest Mouse fan. They are my favorite band (second right now is Wolf Parade).
I don't know how to make it flashable, I used metamorph. I will upload my metamorph zip that I made and will also upload the framework-res.apk and the photoshop file that I used to make it. It has been working real good for me all day. I am using Cyanogenmod 6.00 RC0 just so you know.
I would like to eventually make a full modest mouse theme but I don't know enough about editing all the images to really get going good....also I'm not real good with photoshop.
Attachments:
Modest Mouse.zip is the metamorph theme
framework-res.apk is the framework apk from my /system/framework/ folder
status_bar_background.zip contains the photoshop file that I used.
If you edit/use it save it as .png. the file goes in the framework-res.apk in the
res/drawable-mdpi folder
If you have any ideas for any improvements let me know and I will see if I am able to do it (still learning)
I was wondering if someone could mod any of these? I'm failing miserably. >_>
I'm still trying though!
Basically, my homescreen looks like this:
http://i52.tinypic.com/33bjrdg.png
and those words are folder shortcuts via Desktop Visualizer,
and it opens a folder using Smart Shortcuts.
Problem is, that folder is a little unsightly compared to my theme.
I was wondering if someone could help me mod them so they are little sexier?
Something just black, with a 60% transparency, like Tajm and Battstat?
Thanks! If I get one anyways.
good idea... I just busted open the res folder of Folder Organizer and cant figure out what file controls the folder's background
its probably a xml file, which I have no idea how to alter

Its like that with the other two. I've been experimenting with all the xml's I can find.
I tried a few weeks ago for about 10mins no luck though, no time to try again........it'd be nice if someone can figure something out
It's the only thing that's missing to make a complete theme for me.

those are tricky to edit, but for what you want... it can be done easily, well for me lol
Try Apps Organizer. The screen/folder that pops up isn't too bad. Better than the standard one at least. It is transparent.

And, btw, I'm nowhere NEAR done with my theme/layout. Think bookshelf O:
And, if I release it, (not entirely sure yet) I'm going to do several colors, yellow being one ;D
How can I change my camera Icon on the Homescreen?
I'm trying to set a custom image for the background.
1) After cropping the image I want to use, it seems to zoom in to 50% (quality isn't so good either)
2) Seems like the horizontal range when cropping the image is really limited. There's no way to let the background scroll more in order for me to choose a wider image?
1. Dont use launcher/gallery to set the wallpaper.
2. For better quality use .png-images.
3. Copy your wallpaper to B&N folder.
4. Use the softbar: settings -> home(?) (not sure, because i don't have the stock software)
5. Sorry for my bad english.

Thanks for the help. I don't use softbar but I loaded it up and I didn't see an option to change the background in the settings. I will try PNG though.
My fault. Its the big button in the notification bar. Then settings -> app settings ->home. Then "wallpaper" and "wallpaper gallery".

Thanks, I tried this and with PNG and I'm still getting the same thing. Seems like the crop window isn't working like it should and I'm getting about half of what I select.
Edit: I've tried 3 different launchers, different sized images, cropping before applying, nothing seems to be working. If I'm the only one with this problem, maybe I have something set up wrong?
Hm...the stock wallpaper app should work.
You can try the market-app "wallpaper set and save". This works for me (on froyo).
Here's what it looks like through the settings/gallery.
This is my crop range:

This is with "Wallpaper Set and Save"; doesn't ask to crop but at least it puts in the entire height of the image:
The resulting resolution from both methods are horrible though. Left is the home screen set with "Wallpaper Set and Save" and right is the image seen through the Gallery
I've tried multiple resolutions, JPG, PNG, native screen height, nothing seems to work.
I noticed this issue as well, it doesn't seem to affect the stock wallpaper images on the nook color.
The fix for this is easy actually.
Copy the background you want into the wallpaper folder under MyNookColor >> My Files >> Wallpaper. Put the wallpaper there.
Launch the stock GUI.
Long press on the background and pick the wallpaper from the wallpaper gallery not the picture gallery.
1800x1024 is ideal, but I use 1680x1050 and it looks just fine to me.

That worked, thanks a lot. Is this an issue for everyone with the stock rom or is it more specific (autonooter 3.0 or v1.1, etc)? Cause it's annoying enough that I might reroot with a different version before I put too much time into customizing my Nook.

Anyone know about this?
Here are the icons I have been working on for the past few days. Credit for the original HD Icons goes out to mikebeecham for his icons which can be found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828832
I just simply made a "matte glass" template and imported his icons. I did one for almost ever app that I use on my homescreen, so there are a few major ones missing. However, inside this .rar file you will find a Photoshop template. Just download the original HD icons, import the desired icon into the "icon(REPLACE)" layer, resize to fit, save as a .png with transparency (its important that you enable transparency) and copy to SD card. To get the most out of these icons, use Desktop Visualizer. Download from the market, install, and add a 1x1 widget to the desktop for each icon. Pressing it will bring you to the settings for that widget. Simply browse to the file on your SD card, select the desired app, use no text and a transparent label, and your good to go. Below are some screens of my current setup to show you how they look in use. Please enjoy, and upload pics of any icons you create so we can all see!
Thanks guys. -Steve

You need to use
A. An app that allows custom shortcut icons like folder organizer or bettercut.
b. A lot of work that will break updates from the market on a lot of apps.
A. Tends to be the better choice.

Yeah i search all the time for an app drawer replacement that will let you do just that... it doesnt exist.. and i dont know why. The one way i did it was to use folder organizer, replace all the icons with folder organizer. Then take a folder organizer folder with all the apps in it and drop it on my dock in place of the app drawer in launcher pro. Basically used a folder as my app drawer. It did the job but was still a pain in the ass.
