Copy & paste no longer working in marshmallow? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Try this
I'm using a text file in my sd card that contains my google play password
Up until now I've been able to copy my text and then paste it into my google play 'enter your password' here field with no problems
However since the marshmallow update (6.01 23.5.A.0.575) I can no longer 'paste' the text into google play, although I can copy the text ok, and paste it into another text to prove it's copied ok.
In case anyone thinks its because its going over from sd card into internal spaces that's the problem, I tried using the same text saved in the internal part of storage with the same problem.
Is this a new bug or some wonderful new google play 'feature' to stop you from copy/pasting.

I suspect google would see the ability to paste something into a password box as a bug that could be exploited. I get the same with several banking websites when I try and paste my password.

Can't store e-mail on Storage Card! Could on 8525

I was able to do this no problem on my 8525. There are several registry settings that allow you to change the location of your My Documents, E-mail messages, and attachments to the Storage Card instead of internal memory. The is crucial for me as I store a ton of e-mail with large attachments on my phone. (None of it security sensitive mind you.)
The problem I'm finding with the Tilt, is that it reads the registry settings BEFORE it recognizes the Storage Card! So what ends up happening is it created a folder in internal memory called Storage Card and calls the actual storage card, Storage Card2 !!! I can remove the storage card, and delete the Storage Card directory, turn phone on and re-insert the Storage Card and it keeps doing the same thing!
I know there
Help!
Here's the setting in case anyone is interested:
Change the location of My Documents
Documents are opened in and saved to the device's internal storage by default. You can change this location to, for example, your Storage Card:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = "\Storage Card\My Documents" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To return to the original location:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = "\My Documents" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
Change the location of email and attachments
When reading and sending email in Pocket Outlook, emails and their attachments are saved in the device's internal storage by default. You can change this location to, for example, your Storage Card:
HKLM\System\Inbox\Settings\PropertyPath = "\Storage Card\Mail" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\MAPI\AttachPath = "\Storage Card\Mail\Attachments" (REG_SZ string, no quotes)
To return to the original location:
Just simply delete these Registry settings (since neither is included by default).
I found the problem after searching and searching the net in some obscure post about changing the storage locations on a WM5 phone.
On some devices, the way the phone boots, the Messaging plugin for the Today screen loads before the storage card is recognized. This appears to be the case with my Tilt. (BTW I upgraded to latest ROM 1.6x to see if that helped - didn't) If I disable the Message plugin in the Today settings, everything works.
So now I need to decide if it is more important to store my mail on my card or have the messaging plugin. I suppose I can use 3rd part software for displaying messaging info on my Today screen?

So, If I make the registry changes for email that you mentioned and then use Spb Mobile Shell (or HTC Home) to display messaging info on the Today Screen, I can have my emails saved to the storage card automatically?
Can a program like Total Commander allow me to create registry entries, or only edit them?
Thanks
Please disregard.

using Internal Storage for mail

Hope this is not a stupid question?
I use my diamond for work and on my S730 i had a cab file that used my Storage Card instead of the phone to store mail. I used this cab file on the diamond but does not work. Does anyone know how to use the internal storage instead of the phone for my mail
Thanks
Brian
in the mail settings you can choose to let attachments of e-mails be stored in the internal storage. The mail itself can't be stored on the internal storage, but i don't see the point of that (because a email is about 1/2 kb most of the time.
Thanks for the reply. The reason i like to save all to the storage card is i had the whole 2gb mailbox on my 4gb card on my S730 phone. We do not currenly have exchange 2007 and i can not use the search option. As i am out alot around our 4 sites its a pain if i need an email that is not stored on my phone as on the road alot. That is why i had that cab file that changed the settings some how so it stored all emails and attachments on my old card. I am sure someone will release a hack to do the same on the Diamond
Thanks
Brian

Yes it can...the (PropertyPath) setting is just located in a different registry setting.
However, I've tried it and immediately ended up getting the common "Storage Card2 issue", a known issue with this trick.
So I've reverted back to the default setting. But you're right that just the emails aren't all that big to begin with.
I would'nt encourage you to put 2 gig of e-mails on your phone. Isn't it smarter to just get the last few days of mail via your phone and if you need a older mail you use the webinterface of your e-mail provider? (on your phone with opera ofcourse)

[Q] Save Email Attachments?

Any idea how to save email attachments in POP email, specifically JPG and PDF?
The HTC Help page says the following:
"Save an attachment
Select email with attachment, download the attachment, tap the Preview icon, press the Menu key, Select Save or Save as."
However, I do not see a 'Save' or 'Save As' option when I follow these instructions.
Any thoughts? TIA!
I don't have the Vivid, but if it works like other HTC phones when you click on the attachment it's probably getting saved to a /download folder either in internal memory or on an SD card.
When you download a PDF email attachment, it is automatically saved in the Adobe Reader on your SD Card under Downloads.
For jPeg, when you download a jpeg from an email, it is automatically saved in the Gallery in the All downloads folder.
The intructions you refer to are for other file types.
Sorry to hijack the thread here but it is the same subject that I want to know. When my wife sends me a video of my 2 year old from her iPhone it comes as .MOV file. The Gmail app which is what I use for both of my email accounts does not give me the option to download or preview the file. Is this normal and if so is there a way around it?

this is true... but you could import existing sim contacts... could this be Infinix's problem?
A bug with the MM update is that contacts are not tied to incoming calls. The caller Id shows the number only. I have to manually add that number to the existing contact , then future calls show the contract name and info.
After updating to Marshmallow, for the best experience & smoothness is to format after.
However, these are common Problems and Their Solutions
Problem 1: Contact not displaying names after making or receiving a call*
Go to your google settings and remove all google account, after some minutes, add them back and your problem should fixed then.
Problem 2: The phone was successfully upgraded to Mashmallow but fails to boot up
You can go back to Android One using the same steps you used in upgrading. But*
If you have Mashmallow Update on your device or PC, run it again or flash it via SP Flash Tool.*
Problem 3: Not having access to files and document
During initial setup most of us mistakenly put ourselves in*guest account. This means the phone sees you as a guest. Hence, it restricts your use of the phone. Please check if guess mode is enabled, if you’re on it, reset your phone to factory settings.*
Problem 4: Battery drain
Wait for few days for the software to settle, if the problem persist, then go to settings>>>Apps>>check apps that are currently running**on your phone and force stop the ones you are not using.
Important Notice
If you’ve not yet*upgraded to Android 6.0*and you wished to do so, please back up your files, document, videos etc on your memory card and then remove it from your device before you start the upgrade.
i suggest u to use zenfone contact (playstore),
u can fully customize ur contacts view there. gmail, internal phone, simcard, even skype contacts.
for missing name contact when receiving call issue, i've fix with just using gmail account instead internal phone as contact storage.
(u can copy all ur internal, simcard contact to gmail accont with zenfone contact)
wish it will be helpfull.

There is nothing like that in play store I saw zenui dialer and contact
You have to save each incoming call to the already existing Gcontact. Then those #s/contacts work.
just clear contact storage in app management.
after that begin contact sync.

What Google Photos Private folder local path?

When you move files from the Google Photos Cloud to Private Folder (it is a feature of Google Photos), they are removed from the cloud and stored locally on phone
So where exactly? That path can be reached through root?
And files are encrypted or not?
Maybe someone investigate this before?
I would like to know as well.
I had to factory reset my phone, and Swift Backup got my secure folder from Google Photos back, so it must be saved anywhere in local.
