I am on AT&T and when I put the Roger’s sim card in, I could not unlock the phone from the lock screen. After I followed the directions to unlock the phone, The SIM card from Rogers could be used but I get “SIM not provisioned MM #2”. Has the phone been unlocked correctly?
This is my first android phone and I would like to have the phone unlocked to use a Roger's SIM card in case Rogers receives updates before AT&T, that I may update the phone. I know I could root the phone, but I have never done that and I bad at following directions. I checked software updates and the phone did not find any updates with the Roger's SIM card.
I believe updates are based on your CID and have nothing to do with what SIM card your using.

The first part, just means that your SIM has been deactivated, or hasn't been activated for use yet. And I believe the phone has been unlocked correctly if it recognizes Both Sims.
Updates are tied to your handsets CID, so unlocking will not allow you to get updates from other sources/networks. You'll still have to wait for AT&T to release your update/s.
Hi,
I recently bought a no-contract MOTO X CDMA Verizon. I am trying to use it with my Vodafone India SIM, but as soon as I insert this SIM and start the phone I get the following error
"this sim card is from an unknown source"
I contacted Motorola and Verizon and both of them said that this is an unlocked phone and it should work globally. When I start the phone get the above error but I still see Vodafone network and HSPA+ sign. When I try to make a call I get "mobile network not available" error.
Please help I really like this phone and would like to use it here too.
Regards
Sumit
Have you tried some other sim?

Hey thanks, tried using this patch, but this patch does not install may be because Moto X does not have external memory.
Followed each step properly accept that had to put the .zip file in the internal memory

I think the "There is no external memory" happens when you clear the cache. Happened to me last night, Just resetted my phone and it was good to go.

I got the error "No command". Also when i went to the Fast boot screen. It said device status "Locked". This is despite the fact that I bought a no contract verizon Moto X from Moto Maker. Now I am trying to use Indian Vodafone SIM and i can only access data packets but cannot make any voice calls. It does register to the Network in the Global mode but when I try to make a call it gives the following error "Mobile network not available".
Not sure how to resolve this. When I start the phone i get the unkown SIM error.
Please help
Thanks

Have you unlocked the bootloader? you have to install a custom recovery like CWM for that AFAIK

I get "this sim card is from an unknown source" after the KitKat update on my VZW Moto X, and my VZW Samsung Galaxy S4 after its 4.3 update when I insert my T-Mobile USA sim.
Switching the phones to "global" mode and manually setting the APN settings (for T-Mobile) makes the phones work on T-Mobile. But I can't clear that message from the phone.

For Verizon, you can only unlock your bootloader IF your Moto X is the developer edition.
Moto doesn't give out unlock codes for the retail or moto maker X for Verizon and ATT. (this is likely due to carrier request.)
Have you tried making your sure phone has the correct APN settings for your carrier?

Yes I have tried to add the correct APN settings but the phone does not save them. All though i can still access the data/internet. I mean my mails are getting synced etc
are you able to solve this issue i cant im not getting even getting signal immd it disappears and showing no service or emergency only
So I am unable to save the APN settings even when I change the setting to GLOBAL...and I manually set the correct APN.

No I have not been able to resolve it. Quite frustrated because of this
on razr m and razr hd, removing VzwPhoneService.apk and VzwPhoneService.odex fixed the error. on moto x 4.4+, they are located in priv-app. may also want to remove VzwController.apk and VzwController.odex. these are part of the initial activation process on vzw network.
so what did u do are you using cdma? or what

Hi, I was able to Root the phone and install a Custom Recovery. Then I installed the patch. But even after that I get the same error of the "Unknow SIM". Any more ideas to resolve this issue?

How do i do this?
hello guys
i ask my salf why i dont type in this forum about my problem mybe i get some help here
my phone are locked sim card any new rom unlocked sim card ?
iam from kingdom of bahrain
i buy lg g2 verizon vs980 from internet
imei : 990002594173666
imeisv : 00
and still cant use it in bahrain
i hop you help me how to change it or give me some rom unlocked sim card i dont want many orders only unlocked sim card please help noob guy
thanks for leasen my question and trying to help me
The LG G2 is NOT a SIM/carrier locked device, no recent Verizon Global device is, even if it was there is no ROM that can fix that, that information is not touchable by flashing a ROM.
Insert your SIM, setup the APN settings, and make sure it is set to Global or GSM/UMTS, reboot, and you should be good to go, the only thing you will get is an unrecognized SIM error on the lock screen and notification pull down, but it works fine. People are are using the vs980 on a host of GSM carriers around the world.
Ok, soo how can i tell if my droid 3 is sim network locked or unlocked? i ask because i recently had to sbf and now when i insert a sim card it just says invalid sim, but before the sbf it would say "enter sim network unlock pin".
Can anybody tell what happened?? also i tried the sim cards in my sister's droid 3 and it says "enter sim network unlock pin".
I am very confused...
Can you help, @sd_shadow ?

Sim locked or band locked?
Sim locked requires a code, once unlocked it stays unlocked, even if you flashed firmware.
Sim unlocked only allows non USA network gms bands to work
Band unlocking allows USA gms networks to connect, the Droid 3 requires Flashing a radio.img and edited build.prop (stock), if you flashed full firmware you need to reflash radio.img

I mean sim lock. I never entered a code. The only thing I did was the one click SBF by overlayer. Custom roms just switch from radio off to out of service then back radio off(except for steeldroid ics as i can get get CDMA). I pop in a SIM card and boot up the stock rom it just says invalid sim. It use to ask for the unlock code before the SBF, now it doesn't. I also tried the same SIM in another droid 3 and it asked for the unlock code.
Not sure what happened or what to do about it.
