I have the verizon note 4 and am wondering, if I manage to root it am I able to put a tmobile rom on it? I dont really understand if the phones have different components.I have had this note4 for several months and had not used it since I was a tmobile custormer. I know i can put my simcard in it and it works but I didnt want to see all the verizon bloatware on the phone and i wanted to make sure that all of the features work on the phone. Sorry for the noob questions but I am smart enough to ask the pros and admit what I do not know.
Thanks in advance
When you put sim in, do all frequencies work as it should (eg LTE)?
I have made calls on it not sure about anything else as once I found out it could not be rooted I put it up and never pulled it back out not sure how to test anything else to be honest with you

Hello everyone, based on extremely poor ATT coverage in my area comparing to T-M I plan to purchase AT&T Note 3 SM-N900A, unlock it and use with T-M SIM card.
Would I face any issues in terms of unlocking and data coverage?

Soooo.... why would you want to buy a N900A. I feel like we are missing some piece of info. What about getting the N900T and having the best of both worlds. The modem on the N900A is more restricted than the Tmobile version (surprise surprise).

Really? I'm glad I asked prior to spending the $$$
Other than the firmware the phones are identical, correct?
Right now I borrowed Note 2 AT&T SGH-I317 and it seems (to me) to work OK on T-Mobile.
Yes, the Note 2 was one of the last phones before ATT went crazy and started locking down everything. You could enable the AWS bands of tmobile on the ATT note 2. Here is a guide for the N900T if you go that route. Many of us are doing it. You can use it on either carrier. If you are going to use tmobile you might as well use the wifi calling also. It's free and only on the N900T.

I know. My point is that the N900T works perfectly on ATT and Tmobile. It works on both carriers and is the most up to date. The N900T has had J7 for a week where the ATT model just is now getting J5. The carrier specific features like wifi calling are not on the N900A.
Also if you read in that thread I list the fcc bands that are active on the N900A compared to the N900T. They are more restricted than the Tmobile version.

Yes, you will definitely be happier especially if you are wanting to use it on the T-mobile network.
att sim in n900t? HSPA+<E?
Sorry for barging in just a quick question and this thread seems to be the most logical place to ask. Anyway, I have AT&T and just got the Note 3 n900a. If i got a T-Mobile version n900t and put my AT&T Sim in it if i unlock it, will i be able to use it with AT&T's data like hspa+ and LTE or will i just be limited to EDGE. Only reason i ask is because like you say AT&T is going nuts with locking everything down and Im sure its going to be a pain in the a** for the Devs to unlock the bootloader so we can (when it comes) flash custom recoveries and roms. Just like with my att galaxy s4. I was happily rooted and at the time i didnt flash a rom yet i was waiting to find one i like. (mind you i was on the MDL build) and as forgetful as i am just being stock rooted i never froze the samsung software update and it updated to MF3 build and wasnt able to fash a recovery. so i unrooted, reset flash counter and did a warranty exchange and was lucky to get one on still on the MDL build. the second i got that i rooted flashed CWM recovery and flashed a custom rom so it wouldnt update on me. I just dont want the same situation for when the devs unlock the bootloader and get a flash able recovery so just thinking maybe a tmobile note 3 with my att sim may be the way to go to avoid that. lol Not like the note 3 needs any custom rom with the beast of a phone it is but sometimes i like to switch up and use stock/aosp android.
Thanks and sorry for the paragraph here and my apologies if i asked in the wrong spot,
Dave

This thread is huge but hopefully has everything you would want to know on the topic. Look at the first post.

i have owned a us cellular note 3 for about a year and i got rid of that one got a verizon note 3 and got rid of that one and am going to be getting the ATT note 3 today.
i know the tmobile is the one to get if you like flashing but i was in #cyanogenmod channel and was told the ATT is 2nd best to get if you like flashing.
can anyone confirm or deny is the ATT note 3 good for flashing?
i mean can someone give me a quick run down on what can and cant be done?
from what i been researching myself in this att note 3 forum is alot of problems with flashing custom kernels and flashing the recovery or bootloader.....
basically i leave in about 2hrs for a 2hr drive to get this att note 3.
hope im not making a mistake.
i currently dont have cell service with any carrier just to throw that in there
i hope its sim unlocked like the verizon note 3 was.
The AT&T variant is no good for flashing anything other than roms that use the stock kernel. The bootloader is locked. The only means we have of flashing is using safestrap. If you're getting this phone in the hopes of flashing anything other than touchwiz based roms, then you're making a mistake.
Hey all, I've been on the sprint note4 for a couple years now, but I've been unlocked using GSM. As you probably know, i don't get lte.
So to get to the point, I'm finally thinking about taking the dive and buy a N910T so i can get LTE. I use Cricket, everything seems to look like LTE will work fine.
My question, Is there anything I need to know about the n910t, that i might be missing? Like any certain model number that is better or not root able? Or flawed?
Thanks!
Also: was looking at this device, is it a good deal?

I'm also on cricket and used many tmoble note 4.... U will have to have in unlocked but and depending if you use a custom rom mite need to manually in put your apn.....other then that T-Mobile note 4 is awesome
I bought a Note that was supposedly a Sprint phone, unlocked for any carrier--I'm on TMobile. Now, months later, problems are compounding, and to cut to the chase, a Sprint rep in a Sprint store said she saw no indication that it was a Sprint device, and I'm wondering if flashing with a TMobile compatible ROM would be the best way to reestablish a fully functional baseline operating phone.
I know there are lots of ROMs to choose from. I know I can use Kies to reflash my device. I know I need to DL what needs to be flashed to the phone. What I don't know is whether ROMs are carrier dependent.
Do I simply
review all available ROMs for a Note 4,
choose one,
DL it, and
install it?
Even though the full process itself isn't at all simple, is it really that, uh, simple?
I'm pretty sure TMO uses GSM while Sprint is CDMA, so if you're using a TMO SIM, then it's most likely not a Sprint phone. What does the model number say on the sticker under the battery?

I go out of rooting my phone a while ago and went to go root my G6 to find out that it's not rootable. Moreover recently I found that Verison is blocking the bootloader on pretty much all of its phones. I looked at the Note 9 and I really like it but I want to be able to root it and everything. is there a way that I can get a note 9 and use it with full functionality (IDC about the Samsung pay and that stuff though, just the speeds and connectivity) in the US. i am willing to change carriers to Tmobile, but I have also heard something about the N960F not able to use band aggregation in the US. If i want to root and have a good phone will i have to go all the way back to the nexus 6p or are there other modern phones that can do this?

You can get the SM-N9600 and root that phone. Then you will be able to get wifi calling and 4g+ with it also being rooted. This version is th HK one. I have this version and so far everything is good and I like the purchase I made. You can find some on Swappa (which is where I bought mine for $715).
Do please though research on which phone you prefer and what root options are available for that phone.

We haven't been able to unlock bootloader on Samsung devices for a few years now.
I should say US Samsung devices. I meant to clarify that.
