I have xposed running on my Nexus 5 lollipop 5.0.1.
After downloading and enabling a couple modules my phone is now stuck in a bootloop.
I tried clearing dalvik and cache it didn't help.
Is it possible to disable xposed from recovery?
EDIT: Solved.
Boot into Recovery (Power + Volume Down)
TWRP > Advanced > Terminal command
Create a file /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed:
Code:
touch /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled
Click to collapse
Boot into Recovery (Power + Volume Down)
TWRP > Advanced > Terminal command
Create a file /data/xposed/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed as well:
Code:
touch /data/xposed/disabled
Click to collapse
Didn't work. Still stuck in bootloop.

or

It was between two modules. Can't remember the first one but the last one was XInstaller.
Anyway, got it solved using the below method:
Boot into Recovery (Power + Volume Down)
TWRP > Advanced > Terminal command
Create a file /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled, which causes Xposed to be bypassed as well:
Code:
touch /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf/disabled
very good

XInstaller seems to be causing a few issues, and I don't think its the app itself but the apps it allows you to install instead. I had the same issue after installing xInstaller. But now that you figured this out maybe I can try a few other apps out like xstana which for somereason refuses to install on lollipop devices...

After disabling it I flashed the new xposed-arm-20150308.zip and installed XposedInstaller_3.0-alpha2.apk (I was on alpha1 previously)
Re-enabled xposed (deleted "disabled" file) and all is working fine now.
This thread definitely either needs to be made a sticky, or the contents needs to be in one of the already made sticky threads IMHO
Cheers
//edit
I tried this out on my phone to test (my xposed stuff is working just fine) but it doesn't seem to have disabled xposed at all?
Ex, app settings still functions (set my play store to be at 480 DPI and it's still opening in 480 DPI as it should...)
I made the necessary file you said with fx file manager, not through TWRP recovery though... I don't think it should make a difference though how I made the file, just that it's there.
Maybe my permissions on the file are messed up, I just thought of that..
//edit 2
Yup my perms were messed up, xposed is now disabled for me. Cheers for the info, now I know what to do when some shady looking module backfires on me lol
Thank you so much!!! This worked perfectly on Sprint LG G3 using Candy5 ROM!! Saved me!!
Just to report that the method failed on a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925F).
I created succesfully the disabled file, but I was still having bootloops.
So I thought I forgot to set the file to 755, but then TWRP told me:
Code:
Updating partition details...
...done
E: Resource (font)-(fixes) failed to load
Kernel does not have support for reading SELinux contexts.
MTP Enabled
Now I hope to fix everything by reflashing the firmware again...
After successfully disabling xposed in order to get the device to boot, how do we reenable it? Because after uninstalling the module which caused the problem the framework is "not active". A reboot did not work.

Silly question but how can I delete it? I tried locating it using HTC file manager and es file explorer but cannot locate it.
Is there a command I can use using terminal emulator or something?
Thanks

You need you use Root explorer or Es file explorer that supported Root and locate to /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf
Method 2:
You can even delete the "disabled" file in recovery by using file management, if you are using TWRP. Same as previous method, just locate to /data/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/conf

Thanks, method 2 worked a treat.
For some reason, even though I have root access, it wasn't showing in either root explorer or es file explorer, however, when looking through TWRP file management was all there.

If you can't normally boot to system, boot to recovery(twrp or some other custom recovery which has file management function)
Try copy a small file like host or something, paste it the that /data/data/dev.*****installer/conf folder and rename it "disabled".

Source Code S40 + Recovery Mode
Source code cat s40
http://www.catphones.com/en-gb/legal/general-terms-and-conditions
but we don't have access to file for now lol
Cat S40 Source Code
but Cat B15Q can download normally.
Cat B15Q Source Code
i found too how enter Recovery Mode maybe isn't it CWM or TWRP but better that than nothing
1. PowerOff phone
2. Connect USB cable to phone
3. Press and hold the Vol +
4. Connect USB cable to PC or Power Supply
5. Recovery Mode!
I hope after we can download source code someone can make TWRP of custom ROM for us ;]
Cat s40 SuperSU + Xposed
I have SUCCESS ROOT + SuperSU + Xposed on my Cat s40 :]
1. Kingroot root
2. install "SuperSU_v2.65.apk" ( i installed it by Lucky Patcher as System app)
3. Reboot
4. use script "switch_armv7.sh" i added script i found that on XDA forum but i don't remember where.
If script don't work you can try again gain root by kingroot and in SuperSU update supersu binary ( SuperSU can detect Kingroot so you must uninstall it) This script worked for my Cat s40 fine.
5. After script install new binary in SuperSU app
6. SuperSU succes!
7. FlashFire flash Xposed Binary ( i added too Xposed binary)
7. Reboot ( boot is longer than normal)
8. You have SuperSU root and Xposed Framawork on your Cat s40
You can too by FlashFire make backup your system partition and use it in TWRP if someone do it for us... or flash it after gain SuperSU root ( FlashFire on Kingroot don't working)
You do it at your own risk!
First i tried that method on myPhone Infinity LTE ( i can that flash by computer when it bricked )
I think it can work on all Android 5.1 lollipop.
Wirusx, thanks for the feedback.
Can i get more detail and confirmation :
First use kingroot 4.9.3 found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
After that it's rooted, and then you install the script in supersubinary.rar . But can you explain in detail to put what file where on the S40, or do we only need to install the superuser.apk file?

How about use uptodate kingroot and after that supersumepro ?
Rooted Cat S40 running 5.1 Lollipop
After several attempts and reboots all ok. Caterpillar Cat S40 running Lollipop 5.1 working fine.
1st thanks to all devs. (VickyB, MrW0lf, Chainfire etc). :good:
Then. My attempt consisted from pointers or several threads. Started with Wirusx and got something else from somewhere else. I try getting a whole picture here.
(I did not look for fresh look, but better battery consuption, better security and such. So no new roms etc needed. Cat is quite plain and sleek anyway.)
Basically it was of Wirusx instructions, but with some tweaks as apparently at this stage some update has tightened Cat OS that fewer exploits work.
Several files has be in phone (internal storage worked for me, sdcard not). One app from Gplay (Terminal Emulator) and ->
see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/replace-kingroot-supersu-t3339950
1. Kingoroot - 2. Reboot - 3. Run Script (which will give you also SuperUser app). - 4. Reeboot - 5. Updated Superuser and another reboot.
- Done.
There were some moments when not all ok. After 3, verified through Emulator who is "in charge". "su -v" in same directory as you ran the original script. Showed SuperUser 2.65, so all ok. But apps listed listed KingoRoot/Purify. But not SuperUser, although the root was through it. I had to download it again via Play. After 5 all ok "in Wonderland".
Some pointers from unknown threads (which I failed to find again). Apparently the situation was like the following exerpt shows.
"It seems that the script doesn't work the same way on every device. For me, it just deleted Kingroot,
and left me with just a temporary root terminal, . SuperSU was never launched nor installed,
and when I installed it I got a "There are no su binaries installed".
I did the following to install SuperSU:
1. Run the script for your proper architecture.
2. If it doesn't launch SuperSU at the end or even worse, if you install it but get the
" no su binaries", DON'T close the last root terminal.
3. Run
su -v
If it returns something like SUPERSU-2.65 you're good to go. If it doesn't,
re-run the script again in order to push the proper su binary again.
4. Go to the terminal and type:
mount -o rw,remount /system
chmod 7777 /system/xbin/su
chmod 7777 /system/xbin/daemonsu
Note: at this point SuperSU will start to work, even if you didn't update its binaries.
4. Open SuperSU. It'll ask you to update its binaries, press yes.
5. Since it's highly advised to have SuperSU in /system in order to preserve root access
through updates, you just gotta move the SuperSU.apk included in the zip to /system /app and
chmod it with 0755 permissions.
I downloaded SuperSu from Play and it worked.
Rooted Cat S40 firmware update
Hi!
Is it possible (ad if yes, how) to update the firmware of a rooted Cat S40. My rooting process was the previously mentioned Kingroot -> SU, but after this the OTA update does't finish, even with FlashFire.

I'm rooted with SuperSU 2.79 systemless on OOS 4.1.0 and I can't get permission to write on /system.
I tried using ES FIle Explorer and the option keeps changing to RO. I also tried via recovery. Root permissions are granted and It's properly root.
Any clues?

Still nothing. For some reason permissions won't change.
You have systemless root?
If yes I think you can only modify data Partition. Maybe you need a magisk module?
Remove superSU and just go with Magisk. It works much better than SuperSU ever will. It's easily removable and won't adjust partition permissions, including system. Make sure you mount system in twrp before flashing any root access zip file as well. It helps prevent problems like this.

As I've seen, Some apps don't work well with other SU except for SuperSU. Get rooted using superSU, everything should work just fine. You can always Uninstall and go back to magisk once you're done.

Do this from terminal emulator (don't use GUI apps for things like this, they hide important errors most of the time):
Code:
$ su
# lsof /system
And watch for processes that hold the mountpoint.
Code:
# kill <that process id, one by one>
if you're sure they're not doing anything important, then try:
Code:
mount -o rw,remount /system
again.
P.S.: you might need to install BusyBox, I don't know if lsof is available out of the box.

I've installed busybox and when I try lsof /system it says "toybox: Unknown command lsof", is there any solution?
This script was made to 9.5.8 OP7 OxygenOS, some things can be different in future, so report if something is broken. Use at your own risk and feel free to experiment as this is a systemless mod.
First, the prerequisites:
1- Unlocked bootloader with Magisk and TWRP (you can use temporary TWRP if you please). If you don't know what is that, take a look at the XDA threads about it, it's easy. Please don't ask about "how to unlock bootloader" or "how to install Magisk".
2- Debloater (Terminal Emulator) Magisk module. Download it from Magisk Manager.
3- Any Terminal Emulator app.
4- import-debloat.txt config file. Download it here
5. Backup (yeah, this module doesn't change anything in /system and can be reverted at any time, but backups are always welcome)
6. Magisk Mount script. Download it from here
Magisk mount is needed to "reinstall" system apps by deleting the dummy folders from Magisk partition if something breaks.
If you have everything handy it should be a matter of few seconds to debloat.
Let's deal with useless system apps, temeletry, some ****ty apps. According from the @Tomatot- thread:
Tomatot- said:
-You'll get more privacy: I've removed Qualcomm telemetry, OnePlus telemetry as well as some Google Telemetry (but you can't expect too much as long as you use gapps)
-You'll get better battery life: less apps running in the background, less wakelocks, less services communicating with servers to send telemetry.
-You'll get better performance: for the same reasons. Don't expect a huge difference as our phone is very smooth already.
-The feeling of having a clean device. And this has no price.

Let's start this!
1. Copy the import-debloat.txt config file to the folder /data/cache in the root. (you can copy it by a root explorer or reboot into recovery and copy it by TWRP file explorer)
2. Install the Debloater (Terminal Emulator) Magisk module using the Magisk Manager.
3. Open the terminal emulator app
> Type 'su' and press enter
> Grant root permissions
> Type debloat and press enter.
4. You will see the options to debloat in various categories which are self explanatory. As we have the config file which has a predefined app list to de-bloat stored in /data/cache folder in root already. Type 'i' which says import config and press enter 2 times.
5. Reboot 2 times and you're done most probably if nothing breaks.
Ta-dah! Fully debloated OOS. To keep the debloat after update the ROM, just reflash Magisk and you're fine. You don't need to do the procedure every update.
Read from here if something breaks (from @Sreekant)
If it breaks the system or causes boot-loop which shouldn't be the case as I'm using the OP7 9.5.8 and everything is fine, but well, **** happens. Don't worry! It's pretty easy to reinstall all of them in one click by TWRP.
Did you download the Magisk Mount script which I asked to earlier? If yes, just flash it with TWRP and the magisk will be mounted and accessible in TWRP file explorer. If you didn't download the script earlier, Just adb sideload it in recovery.
After mounting the Magisk in TWRP > Click on Advanced and go to file explorer.
Then delete the app folder of the system app you've uninstalled in /Magisk/terminal_debloater/system/app (/sbin/.core/img/terminal_debloater/system/app) or /Magisk/terminal_debloater/system/priv-app (/sbin/.core/img/terminal_debloater/system/priv-app) then that should undo it.

I took the Light debloat from Tomatot and converted to Debloat (Terminal Emulator) module syntax. I will let it more clear in the thread.
I can convert the other two ones (Extreme and Invisible), specially Invisible would be fine to less experienced users.

Yes, just follow the syntax do add another system app to debloat:
Appname^=/system/path/to/appfolder
If you don't want to debloat some app, just erase the entry with the app that you don't want to remove.
You can find the system apps folder browsing /system/app and /system/priv-app. After every change to import-debloat.txt you have to run debloat and import again (to create the dummy empty folders.)
Edit it in Notepad++ to avoid format issues (at PC) or Quickedit (at cell phone).
Light it's the best choice.
Invisible it's to low and Extreme could be too hard on cleaning up. But it's up to you, of course.:good:
Dev any update for OB Q oos ? Thanks
Updated to Android 10 and doesnt appear to be working. Any debloat solutions for android 10 around?
