Keep screen on widget - Xiaomi Mi 5 Questions & Answers

Is there any king of working widget for MIUI 7 that would work as a toggle for "never" option for auto-lock
I sometimes need to temporally enable "don't turn screen off", put phone somewhere and track info from launched app.
For native android there are plenty of widgets on Play Market that are perfectly working. However all I tried fail to work on MIUI.
So I need one for MIUI
Going deep in settings every time is not a convenient way

[Q] ICS lock screen always appears when opening apps

Hello everyone, my lock screen always appears whenever I open an app. Not all apps, but the google play store or SMS or something like that.
The steps I've done:
I've disabled the lock screen completely and removed all codes, and then added them again.
I use an application called No Lock which either enables or disables the lock screen. When I'm home, On GB at least, I use it to not lock the home screen because I don't need security at home. I click the widget to lock the screen when I leave the house to enable it. I've cycled through the on off for this application and still the same results.
Any ideas?

[Q] Lockscreen security toggle?

I'd like to turn the lockscreen security off in areas where I feel secure doing so. When i'm out taking public transportation or any other areas with any risk, i'd like the ability to easily turn security on.
Right now i'm using Xposed Framework with GravityBox 2.6.1. I'd prefer there to be a quick settings toggle that enabled/disabled the lockscreen security but didn't see that option in GravityBox (would request it in the thread for it but it looks like I can't until I post more here?).
Does anyone else have a setup similar to what i'm trying to achieve?
"No Lock Screen" app doesn't seem to work. Currently using "Toggle Lock" which does work as a widget but the size of it is so small at 1x1 (have to resize to enlarge but ends up taking too much space). Also the problem with toggle lock is if you close the Toggle Lock app in the multi-tasking in seems to break this setup.
EDIT: Toggle Lock has issues too after awhile it still asks for unlock randomly when launching apps/notifications
I used Tasker combined with Secure Settings (both on play store) to achieve something similar. When I'm connected to my home wifi, my password is disabled. When I'm connected to no wifi or any other wifi, my password is enabled.
I know this isn't the same as having a single press to toggle the password on and off, but since you can create a tasker task to do this, I imagine it can't be that hard to use Tasker App Factory to make an app that toggles the password on and off. Then just put that app on your home screen and you should be good to go.
Thanks! I'll look into that. The toggle lock app seems to have problems.
This works for me https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.jraf.android.nolock

Thanks! I tried and it seemed to work great at first (no issues with closing the app by mistake). Then i noticed later on how the phone would be unlocked yet accessing text messages from the notification bar would request the password.
What I ended up doing was setting a shortcut for Nova launcher 'Activities' > 'Settings' > 'Unlock selection' ChooseLockGeneric. This allows me to get to that settings page quickly and directly but I have to manually set up the password each time. Works though!

[Q] Notification Talback/NoLED/launcher/splanner/HelloWorld-Make-II kernel C22 Hell

I've been rolling round the net for a few days now trying to solve this but no fully successful result.
It seems the stock launcher has this bug were if u have anything active in the accessibility services such as NoLED then tallback (TB) kicks in.
I tried the disable TB suggestion for NoLED but it always seems to start again. However I have stooped the voice by uninstalling it + the 2 TTS engines. However a hand is displayed in the notification bar (& it ignores my colour thyme) and an ongoing notification is displayed as well U can get rid of this but it reappears at reboot.
So I've tried the used a different launcher idea for NoLED, I think this worked (lots of launchers & playing going on) TB voice wise but I still get the hand
Also the splanner 'full screen' widget does not seem to work with other launchers I've had a look at a few other calendar widgets but they are not as good as they did not display any text only a marker for events unlike the splanner widget.
But even if I could find a good 'full screen' calendar widget I would still have the TB hand problem so I might as well stick with the stock launcher as I have figured out how to shut it up - But I don't want the hand!
I was thinking of trying [KERNEL][TW]Forest-HelloWorld-Make-II kernel for JB N7000 as v1.73 has BLN support but this is an old version and the new version does not support it. Also it looks like v1.73 does not have phils touchwiz recovery; which I currently have and don't wish to loose. Also the BLN in 1.73 is based on wakelock, so would this mean bad battery life?
I cannot ask about the kernel in it's thread yet, so can anybody comment.
Last night I found the LEDBlinker Lite app & that looked interesting but the way in which it works (which I have not looked at yet) means the back & menu buttons are permanently illuminated (this will be because I have them set to be on when the screen is on as I have 360 degree rotation enabled) and the activation icon for button savior is displayed. So this is no go due to battery consumption and screen burn.
Can anybody suggest a way out of this catch 22 hell, so I have some sort of message notification with the screen 'off', with no TB voice, no TB hand in notification, 'full screen' splanner widget or similar which displays text for events, does not cause the prob with button savior and the back/menu keys and has philz touch?
If a new launcher is needed it needs to support folders in the apps draw and ideally be free. I'm def not paying anything till I get it all working due to the catch 22 nature of this.
Any suggestions muchly appreciated as I've been messing around with this for days.
I'm using sweet rom v11.1 with a philz touch v5.
Thanks

Dock screen options

I'd like to have my TP display news, weather, Facebook feed or other interesting things while in the dock. What is the best way to do this? I am new to android. I just installed CM11 4.4.4 on my TP and love it.
Can I install and customize widgets and that display automatically when docked?
Thanks!
I've played around with this for awhile now and have a working solution. This may be common knowledge to some, but as a newb I had to cobble together info from several places to get the results I wanted. Here's what I did.
First, enable custom widgets in Personalization, lock screen
Press and hold on your home screen and select Widgets. There are a bunch included in CM but you can get more in the play store. Set up your widgets how yuou like them. I have Email, news, and a time/weather one set up.
Now get Dock no op and Stay Alive from the play store. Dockno op will tell the tablet to do nothing when you dock it. Stay alive keeps the screen on. There are lots of options in Stay Alive but I just used "keep screen on while charging". I also unchecked Allow screen to dim.
I tried turning on developer options (tap 7 times in Settings, About tablet, Build number) and checking the setting the Stay Awake option. It kept the screen on, but it still dimmed after 30 seconds.
Now I can keep my HP TP on the dock on my desk all day and it will stay on.
Sorry to keep replying to my own thread, but someone may find this helpful.
Now I am a bit worried about screen burn in since it is on my home page 18 hours a day on the dock. Can anyone suggest an app that will move the screen around periodically, or maybe schedule screen inversion, or color changes? Or is there a way to rotate between two home screens with different content?

Kill the Always On Display

How can I toggle the AOD to be completely off? This is driving me nuts. I'm aware of the settings within the Motion Sense area of settings. The "show when nearby" seems to take, however no matter what I do the clock still appears no matter what as an AOD. I've tried disabling the following in different combinations to no avail:
Motion Sense
com.google.oslo
Pixel Ambient Services
com.google.intelligence.sense
Motion Sense Bridge
com.google.android.apps.motionsense.bridge
Even tried the clock app itself
com.google.android.deskclock
Whenever these are initially disabled it seems to work for a minute or so but then the clock pops back up on the AOD. I just want the toggles to work! This is for when I'm driving and my my phone is mounted where it faces me. I already have 2 clocks in my car and don't need a third it's more of an annoyance than anything else.
Do you have Always On disabled in the Lock Screen settings?
Display>Lock Screen Display>Always on

Search for "always on" in settings and turn it off
display / lockscreen / always on - does not exist
Searching for "always on" yields no results.
I don't have a lock screen set as I don't need it, though I did try setting one temporarily to see if the option showed up, but nothing. That's how I used to do it on my note but they moved everything around on 10.

You really don't have always on under..settings/display/advanced/lock screen display....then scroll to the bottom??
Display, scroll all the way to the bottom, select lock screen display, bottom third of the screen you'll see Always on, toggle it off. You can still have it light up by tapping, lifting, or triggered by soli, in any combination if you wish.
edit.. Ninja'ed me Badge, it's there, he just missed it.

It's probably because you went around disabling apps. Enable the Pixel ambient Services.

With everything re-enabled and a hard reboot, I set a screen lock. Then went back to display and the "lockscreen" option was now available. I turned off AOD and then disabled the screen lock and it took. No more clock.
It seems as though the AOD toggle being buried in the lock screen options, which is only available when one is on will take no matter of a lock screen is set. So every time I want to change this I have to go through this process. I wish there was a Quick Settings shortcut for this.

Well it's not exactly meant to be toggled on and off often like the ones in the Quick Settings pulldown menu. The easiest and quickest way is just searching "Always on" in settings and you can actually toggle it right there as seen in the screenshot.

Also if you are not using the active edge for anything critical you might try button mapper by flar2 and see if one of the options can be set to it. Or maybe even on of the other options in his app will apply it.

I don't now and have never had a lock screen enabled on my phone and can and have always been able to enable or disable always on display. Unless you disabled some app affecting this as mentioned above it should be there for you too just as it is for the rest of us. You may want to look into that and see what's hanging you up.

I haven't been able to do it since it was virgin out of the box, the option just isn't there. Doing it on my old Note 8 was super easy it was right where it was supposed to be. Although I have found a workaround for anyone on the off chance I'm not the only one experiencing this.
Being rooted, I downloaded ShortcutMaster and used the app explorer and poked around until I found;
[Setup Wizard]
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard
tap and scroll down to;
com.google.android.pixel.setupwizard.alwaysondisplay.AlwaysOnDisplayOptInActivity
Choosing [launch] triggers the screen from inital setup to toggle the AOD.
Set it as favorite, or Homescreen (on the paid version)
Launch Shortcut master each time to change it or use the homescreen icon shortcut.
The setting seems to take each time I've done it so far.

Lockscreen customize
Since we're on the lockscreen topic, is there a way to add the camera icon back on the lock screen?
