[Q] Need help with TWRP boot loop

Boot loop
Moto x 1060 rooted on 4.2.2 with TWRP 2.7.7.1 installed. I tried to restore. TWRP says restore completed but when I try to reboot into the loop I go. I can access TWRP but nothing else. I have two TWRP recoveries but neither works. My computer doesn't see the phone when connected, so I can't flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

why do u tried to restore if u have TWRP??
try to put in fastmode and flash the firmware again clean
or put in twrp and wipe cache, userdata and dalvik cache
hope that helps u
When I restore with TWRP it shows successful. Then when I boot it goes into a loop. I have 2 recoveries and they both do that. MY computer does not recognize it so I cannot flash.

Your computer should recognize it in fastboot mode (NOT TWRP) - you need to be the bootloader screen (AP Fastboot Mode). Follow the guide in general "Return to 100% stock" to flash the entire SBF for your carrier. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DOWNGRADE. Only flash the version you are currently on or higher.
Everything you need is in that thread, including the necessary drivers. If your phone isn't getting recognized it is either because you do not have the drivers installed, OR you are trying to connect when booted in to TWRP. Once again, this is wrong. You restore using your PC from the BOOTLOADER screen, NOT TWRP.

When I am in boot loader mode and try to connect with RSD Lite the phone is seen as "fast boot" connected but nothing I flash works. I have done this before and the phone was recognized but after installing TWRP it is not, nor can I flash anything, it says failed.
Thanks Sam. I got RED lite to work and all is well. Again, many thanks

Excellent! Glad to help. As you probably already know, you can now flash TWRP back on and re-root. Good Luck! :good:
P.S. I sent you a private message - please check your PMs.

I cannot flash or install SuperSu or TWRP. I don't really want to install TWRP because that caused the original problem. I need SuperSu but when I try to install it says "there is no SU binary installed". Phone says device is unlocked and Status code 3 and I get the bootloader unlocked warning screen. Should I reflash 4.2.2 and start over?

TWRP does not cause problems - likely your issue was un-related. You cannot install SuperSU without TWRP. You do need to flash TWRP - use the latest version from here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/ghost
After you flash it, type: fastboot reboot-bootloader and immediately boot into TWRP. Click exit and it will offer to root for you.
If you insist, you can flash stock recovery back on afterwards which will remove TWRP.

[Q] Boot Loop for Moto X Developer Edition (cause by Lollipop 5.1 update?)

Hi, I have a Moto X 2013 Developer Edition with bootlocker unlocked and stock rom with Android 4.4.4. It's root, has TWRP and SuperSU.
Since last week my phone is shutting down almost always after power on (only a few times it keeps power on for a few hours), and restarting in TWRP recovery mode.
Do you know what could be the cause of this boot loop?
I suspect it has something to do with the Lollipop Update to 5.1, cause I start getting this boot loop after the update option was shown in my phone (I didn't accept the update at first).
I tried installing again SuperSu (thinking that maybe root was disabled), but without luck. The phone continue with this boot loop.
I also tried installing now the Lollipop Update to see if that resolve the issue, unfortunately after the update is downloaded and I accept the install, the phone shutdown and it boots in TWRP again (so the updated doesn't install).
Hope my problem was explained well and anybody can help cause my phone is really unusable like this.
Thanks in advance!
You're only suppose to install stock ota's using stock recovery not custom recovery. It's best (if you can) flash back to stock if you know how.

can you please tell me how to flash stock recovery
Thanks for your response. Do you mean to flash stock recovery? or full stock rom?
Just in case, I don't need/want to install lollipop, only want to avoid this kind of boot loop and stay at 4.4.4. I'll only install 5.1 it if that fix the issue /but as I say I can't do it because after download and try to install, it power down the phone and goes to twrp recovery).
Thanks for your help!

It's best that you flash back to fully stock rom. If you can flash back to 4.4.4

What if they disabled the update app, wouldn't that stop the update from trying to install and cause it to reboot into twrp

Hi cdiamon, sorry asking again, but there is something I don't understand.
I have original stock rom 4.4.4. I only unlock bootloader (I have the developer edition), put twrp and root the phone. Why the suggestion is to flash back to 4.4.4 to resolve the issue? Didn't I'm already at stock rom?
By the way do you think the problem is because twrp and/or root by supersu? If yes, can't i simply uninstall supersu or remove twrp in some way?
B.E.McAllister and praty, thanks both for your answers, I'll look at them too.
Thanks in advance!

The problem is you have twrp on your phone when the phone is trying to update. You need to flash stock recovery then take update. Or keep twrp and disable update app.

Hi monkeytools. thanks for the explanation. I think I'll disable update app then.
Just to know, is there any way to uninstall TRWP without flashing stock recovery and loosing all of my configuration?
Thanks in advance!

You don't loose anything by flashing recovery. That is if you just flash recovery or fastboot recovery.

Did you fail to mention that you tried entering the recovery, because you cannot enter recovery? I almost never use fastboot for anything but entering recovery once I've installed twrp.
Why were you trying to install a recovery if you have twrp installed already?
I'm honestly baffled on the amount of users having issues with their device.

Moto X 2014 Pure Turns Off When Selecting Recovery in Bootloader

I have a Moto X 2014 Pure that I was trying to root. I said to myself, why not install TWRP? So I flashed TWRP, it gave me 'mismatched partition sizes (recovery)', but according to some other sources, that was normal. I tried to reboot into recovery, it gave me the stock recovery. I said, huh, weird, I'll flash it again. And after that, I was unable to get into recovery at all. Bootloader still works, and the phone can still boot normally, it just appears that the recovery is GONE. If I select "Recovery" from bootloader, it just turns off (seems to at least). I am running Marshmallow 6.0 on the Moto X, and I'm having a hard time finding a stock recovery for it. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

The mismatch is normal because you're flashing a non-stock recovery. Are you using only the volume rocker in bootloader mode? Is your bootloader unlocked?
Get stock firmware from here:
https://firmware.center:8081/firmware/Motorola/
Make sure you don't downgrade.
I am only using the volume rocker in bootloader, which is unlock. I managed to root my phone by temporarily booting into TWRP and installing the ZIP files. However, I still don't seem to have a recovery. At this point, I really don't need one, but I will try that firmware.

[Solved][HELP] Flashng twrp recovery through adb and accessing stock recovery problem

Hey Guys,
I just decided to install Twrp 3.0.2-2 and root my XT1092,
I have been facing issue right after flashing twrp, i select Recovery option in bootloader. Which just shuts down my phone.
After that i try to access recovery by booting into fastboot mode which again gives me a shutdown.
Later i discovered i could access stock recovery when my device is booted into the official mm rom. "adb reboot recovery"
Please help me guys. I tried fxz'ing and retrying the whole process. with different methods to no avail.
i even tried just rooting by only booting recovery "fastboot boot recovery.img" which again gives me a blank screen.
Any help would be really appreciated.

So you put the phone in bootloader mode:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.2-2-victara.img
Then you use only the volume rocker to select recovery (not the power button).
If the phone boots into stock Android, TWRP will be overwritten with stock recovery (which is useless), in which case you'll have to repeat the above.
same issue
on Verizon. Bootloader unlocked with code from Moto. Trying to use Windroid to finish up twrp install and root. I got a message in bootloader about mismatched partition size. tried ADB commands and said it installed. still won't work. no idea what to do next. was thinking of relocking and starting over but I would rather not. any suggestions? Thanks!
I have tried that as well. Used the volume rocker buttons to select recovery. I end up with a blank screen.
Tried fastboot flash recovery.img and I even tried mfastboot flash recovery as well.
Device just doesn't go to recovery after flashed through fastboot and selecting recovery.

Is your bootloader unlocked? Maybe you should try reflashing the full stock firmware, and trying again.

Thanks a lot mate,
I had gone back to stock again. Finished with the recovery process.
I have been using the power button to select the highlighted option :silly: my bad.
Thanks for stressing that out.
