TA-Backup - Sony Xperia X Performance Questions & Answers

Hello,
does someone know if a TA-Backup (and restore) would be possible, assuming there will be a method to root the XP with locked bootloader?
Regards, DiLeon

Yes, I know. Already did that in the past with my Z1c, Z2Tablet, Z3c ... But somewhere in the Z5 forum I read that it won't be possible, even when geeting rooted with a locked bootloader!? So maybe Sony changed something regarding TA partition and/or DRM storage?

[Q] How to Root/UB/Backup TA with 4.3

Hi guys,
I'm kinda desperate right now. I am using 4.3 with 12.1.A.0.266 firmware.
My aim is to install CWM. For this I need an unlocked Bootloader and Root.
But all tutorials I could find are kinda contradicting themselves.
To root I need UB.
To unlock Bootloader in need to Backup TA partition.
And to backup TA partition I need root.
The tools from doomlord all require the old firmware, but silly me has already updated.
Is there any way to unlock Bootloader without root for backuping TA partition OR root with locked bootloader?
Any help is appreciated
Im afraid there isnt any root method for locked bootloader, so You must flash 4.1 using flashtool, root 4.1, backup TA, flash 4.3, unlock BL, root 4.3 and relock BL by restoring TA. The whole process just sounds hard and its complicated but follow those steps and itll be fine
Cheers

When updating to 4.3 I lose root, dont I? So there must be a way to unlock BL with no root? I think then i would lose my Drm keys, thats why i backuped them on 4.1, didn't I? And i surely can use the backup of TA i made in 4.1 for version 4.3?
Thank you for your help already!

Unlocking the bootloader, TA backup and the warranty

Hi,
i want to unlock my bootloader, so i made a backup with Devshafts TA Backup v9.10. The backup is a 112kb big zip file and 2mb big, when i uncompress it, i made a dry run to test it, everything seems ok.
To unlock my bootloader i must send my IMEI nr. to Sony.
My Question is, do they notice that i unlocked my XSP, even after relocking it with the TA Backup, by my IMEI nr that they have?
That would mean my warranty is voided even if i relock it?
Or am i wrong at some point?
Thank you for your help!
Well you lost your warranty if you Unlock your bootloader but I've never heard or read somewere that Sony (or the repair places) are using some kind of Database to check which IMEI has been used to get an Unlock Code.
If you relock the bootloader and restore the TA partition there is no evidence of any unlock.

No Backup of the TA partition?
Well thats not smart. Why is no one reading the tutorials?
First lines of the tutorial from Doomlord:
this is the official way to unlock bootloader
if you want to keep ur DRM keys, first root device and then check this out
Warning!
This procedure will wipe the /data partition of your phone, so you will loose all ur stored data, settings. INTERNAL SDCARD will BE WIPED!!!
For Xperia™ devices released 2013 or later (for example Xperia™ Z and Xperia™ ZL), the SD card of your device will be formatted and you will lose all content (for example photos, music, videos) when you unlock the boot loader.
DRM keys WILL be lost forever

older Xperia devices sometimes got issues after unlock of bootloader (BRICK after FOTA update) - you have been warned

sir can you give me link i cant find for 4.4.4 sir how to unlock bootloader i am already rooted..
I have already reported this to the mods to move this thread as its nothing to do with development.
In the mean time
if you want to unlock your boot follow this
http://bit.ly/1cebNlh
Also you may find "search" as an advantage.

what does sir?
"Rooting Status:
Bootloader unlock allowed: Yes"
Why dont you search before asking? I wanna tell you some problem after unlock bootloader:
4.2: Camera doesnot work (BIONZ is disabled)
4.3: X-Reality doesnot work, camera still work
4.4: X-Reality + Camera still work
BUT DRM KEYS ON TA PARTITION WILL LOSS FOREVER IF YOU DO NOT BACKUP BEFORE UNLOCK BOOTLOADER, AND ALSO YOUR WARRANTY.
i dont have the warranty anymore so 4.4.4 is the best to unlock cause x-reality and camera still works?
can you help me unlocking sir?
The help had already been given. Follow the link I posted above and read it and do what it says

It is recommended not to do that first, but to root first
That way you can backup the TA partition to relock your bootloader and restore your DRM keys if you want to. If you unlock first then you lose the DRM keys forever.

Root with towelroot

Time ago I rooted with towelroot (.108, C6903). I totally forgot to get some information about the ta partition. How can I check it? If it's gone, what did I lose?

*#*#7378423#*#* from your phone dialer, go to service tests, then security, if there are entries in there and show the status of ok then you don't need to worry, you haven't lost your ta partition. What I would suggest is that you then go ahead to the thread about backing up the TA Partition and do it.
Simple rooting via Towelroot does not remove TA partition. It's unlocking your bootloader that will remove the TA partition. So if you have not unlocked the bootloader, then your TA partition is still there.
you can find a useful tutorial of using "flash tool" and how flashing .ftf files, here:
[25NOV][FLASHTOOL GUIDE] HOW TO for n00bies - G-FACE GUIDE
and here is prerooted and deodexed flashable 14.4.A.0.108 :
[STOCK][C69XX][4.4.4] Update to 14.4.A.0.108 [Root & XZDR][DE-/ODEX]
and I highly recommend you to read this very useful post by Great DOOMLORD :

There's a thread that should explain everything you asked.. For root and custom recovery there's a really simple trick with towelroot (look for it), for everything else you should look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439328

Look, you're right saying that's an old thread but you should just download the latest corresponding files (http://nut.xperia-files.com) and you should be done! Otherway Google "how to unlock bootloader xz1" or stuff you need and you'll find more recent guides.

Some [Q] about Bootloader Unlock [Xperia T]

So I want to unlock my phone Bootloader and install a fresh AOSP 4.4
Mine current android version is 4.3 Jellybean ( 9.2.A.1.199) and on the sony bootloader unlock site when I insert the dial number it says "Root status ...... Allowed "
I rooted it today ( havent installed recovery buy I can do it later)
My questions :
Can my phone brick while trying to unlock the bootloader?
Do I need to download the latest version or the 4.1 version of android ?
All this I'm doing 'cus my 1 year warrantly has ended today so Why not ? :good:
Don't think the bootloader unlock procedure has much risk of bricking your phone... especially if you use the official Sony Bootloader Unlock method. But you may want to read up on backing up your TA before unlocking the bootloader.

I'd also suggest backing up your TA first. It's all in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598
If you unlock your bootloader, you lose your Bravia Engine. You can get it back when you lock bootloader, but only if you restore your TA. If you don't have this backup, BE is most likely lost forever.

Still one question :
Can I use my current version of android 4.3
EDIT : Unlocked the bootloader , put rom , gapps , wipped WORKING AS A CHARM
Thanks for the help !
And if I would like to restore to stock do I need to relock the bootloader ?

Nice!
If you want to get your phone back to stock, just flash a stock FTF. Flashtool does not require the bootloader to be relocked for that.
Unless you mean "stock" for warranty purposes, or selling the phone... then I guess I'd say yes to relocking the bootloader, after flashing a stock FTF (and also restoring the TA, of course)
Thanks 4 The Info )))
