Huawei P9 - Unable to amend Theme / Wallpaper / Lockscreens after B136 Rom. - Huawei P9 Questions & Answers

I rooted my device, then had some troubles because it soft bricked itself.
All sorted now by flashing the B136 ROM.
But since then, I am unable to amend the themes on my device - such as wallpaper, lockscreen and icons etc.
Is anyone able to advise?

all i can help is download SRKTool here http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/development/tool-srk-tool-huawei-bootloader-root-t3374068
then update your TWRP to the latest version get it here https://twrp.me/devices/huaweip9.html
using SRKtool to install theme by press 7 (Utilities) -> 12 (install data/hw_init) then reboot you will get your theme back.
make sure your device is Bootloader unlocked + TWRP (latest version) + Rooted

When I try too flash it with TWRP, when my phone reboot, I got a black screen. So, I have to reboot it, and then, there is no black screen anymore (witch is great), but the launcher is still the same (Launcher 3 on Cubot Cheetah 2)

About rooting and future update

Hello,
I was wondering, I'd like to root my OP3T , following the guide w/e here or on OnePlus forum. But will be my flashed update as stable as if I keep it on stock recovery ? ( Since people w/e they have OTA on stock or flashing new update on custom recovery )
Besides, I'm already on Nougat 7.1.1 if I root, I won't lose it right ?
And I looked for the right TWRP and the right SuperSu but on their guide are for MM 3.5.1 and not on N 7.1 so where can I find the right version ? on their Website ?
So thank you very much for your help !
If you root your phone, the System Update app will detect it and download the full ROM for each update rather than the partial update. This occurs regardless of the status of your recovery. Since root modifies partitions that the user generally does not have access to, the updater will always overwrite all non-/data partitions during the update. Plus, when you flash an update, it removes root anyways.
My advice is keep TWRP as a custom recovery. When an update is released, you can still go into the Update menu in Settings and download the full ROM (it will do so automatically if it detects root). Then just flash the full ROM in TWRP, flash whatever you used to root, wipe cache, and you're done. If something goes wrong, you can always use TWRP to restore a prior backup. The same can't be done for the stock recovery.
Ok thank you very much for those informations !
Still, do you know which version I should download ? Since I'm on 7.1.1 , thread only shows for 7.0
I searched and I found : SuperSU 2.79 and for TWRP it's the 3.0.4-1 ? Are they right ?

download the stock rom suited for your device model and unzip the update.zip and copy the UPDATE.APP on your dload folder (you can create if you dont have)
and then turn off your device and press all three buttons (power, up and down volume buttons)
and wait for it to finish flashing the rom.
check also if your Bootloader is still unlock or not. :good:
I've tried this but update stuck at 5%.
Bootloader is unlocked maybe it's the cause or because update.app is on local memory not on external card ?
Thanks for your answer.
help me please
Flash any custom rom first
my huawei have currently a custom rom

Mi Mix 2 official global developer rom available

Official global rom is available for Xiaomi mi mix 2, even if it's not listed on the miui website yet.
This is the download link: http://bigota.d.miui.com/7.9.21/miui_MIMIX2Global_7.9.21_7f94ca393f_7.1.zip
This is the recovery version, fastboot version is not out yet, so there are only two ways to install it:
Method 1 (works on both locked and unlocked bootloaders):
- Download the rom on your pc
- Download and install my tool on your pc: www.xiaomitool.com/latest (read more about it here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/tool-xiaomitool-xiaomi-rom-changing-easy-t3627081 )
- Plug your device to your pc, launch the tool and use it until you reach the rom selection view
- Select "show advanced options", then "Official Miui rom (.zip)" and then select the file of the rom you have downloaded before
- The tool will install it automatically
Method 2 (works only on unlocked bootloaders):
- Download the rom and supersu zip on your device
- Install twrp to your device
- Install the rom file through twrp
- Patch the rom by flashing supersu
PLEASE NOTICE: if you use this method dont update your device because this will soft brick it. You need to flash manually from twrp the rom and supersu if you want to do that. This method is for those who want to try the rom, not to keep for a long term. If you want to keep the rom, use method 1 or wait for fastboot rom.
FAQs:
Q: This link is official and how did you get it?
A: It's official (just look at the download url) and I have it by emulating an ota update call
Q: Have you tried installing it on your device?
A: I have not mi mix 2 so no
Q: This may brick my device?
A: It may brick it, I have not tried yet. This is to tell you to do on your own risk, I'm not responsible
Q: Why I have to flash SuperSU?
A: Official rom are not compatible with twrp natively, your device will not boot if you don't flash supersu.
Q: What is the difference with your tool?
A: My tool uses stock recovery to flash official roms, so there is no need to unlock bootloader to install twrp, neither to flash supersu
Q: This method(s) doesn't work!
A: Ok, sorry to hear that, leave your feedback. This methods are not tested yet with mi mix 2, so there is the chance they might not work. Just leave both positive and negative feedback about it.

Works for you ? And which option did you choose .. And did you do anything before ?
Didn't work for me, see my previous post
Hi vic20nl,
So you continued but had no luck ?
Or did you abandoned the flashing ?
If you decided not to proceed, I might say that installing a custom recovery is an easy thing.
And I cannot recommend too much to install such a custom ROM as it will allow a lot of things, especially to back-up before installing a new ROM or to install a custom ROM like Mokee or EPIC ROM.
Regards.
Heading has come up on the MIUI ROM download page for the Mi MIX 2 Global, so it should not be long for an official ROM

Yeah just noticed that. Shame it's still miui 8 not miui 9.
Maybe soon for miui 9 global.
Did somebody manage to flash the developer ROM (that is what is what mentioned in first post) as that is suppose to be MIUI 9?

Yes, I did. You need to use fastboot.
Hello Guys!
First at all, thank you @franztesca for your great work on the flashing tool and bring us early the Global Dev Rom for Mi MIX 2.
I would like to ask and/or bring in this discussion here an other aspect to flash the Global Dev.
First an unlocked bootloader is requiered. I used this method at another Xiaomi, the Xiaomi Mi 5.
I am actually on the Xiaomi.eu Rom and i would like to change to the Global Dev. My bootloader is open. I flashed the Xiaomi.eu Rom with TWRP, but i dont install TWRP, i just boot into TWRP by using the commend : "fastboot boot twrp.img", just booted not flashed! After the boot i flashed the Rom via ADB Sideload an performe a Data Rest befor.
In this case i am able to keep the original Recovery, but i could also have an Custom Rom.
Now i want to change my Rom again, to your brought Global DEV.
Iam loking and asking me, how could i flash it the easyest Way, without loosing any Data and of course without any Bootloops and with regular Updates for the future.
So i think you musst Add a Variant Number 3, please correct my if iam wrong, but for me it is the easyest way with an unlocked Bootloader.
1. Download Rom and TWRP
2. Set Mi MIX 2 in Fastboot Mode
3. Boot via Fastboot iside TWRP (fastboot boot twrp.img"
4. Flash the Rom an reboot
Now you have Global Rom with offical Recovery for futher upadates!
Greetz
Thanks, I cannot do it via the updater app from Xiaomi by coying the zip file to the device and then choose the package in the updater?

You can't go from the China ROM to the Global ROM via the updater app. You'll have to use fastboot/Mi Flash.

So if I get it right:
- Unlock your bootloader trough a Xiaomi website and wait for an sms.
- Use fastboot to flash the global rom. (Do I need to wipe before using the Mi tool to flash?)

I didn't have to go through getting permission, my account already had it from previous Xiaomi devices. If you haven't yet, then yeah wait to get permission.
Mi Flash gives you the option to relock the bootloader upon flashing or not. There is also an option to keep data, but I would advise not doing that when switching to the Global ROM.
Also, after getting permission to unlock your bootloader, if you relock it again, you can always use the Mi Unlock tool to unlock it as much as you want since you already got permission to do so. When I had the Mi5, I can't even count how many times I unlocked/relocked the bootloader.

Once re-locked can you use banking apps etc?
Wrong recovery
When I try with method 1, he tells me I got the wrong recovery. Bootloader is open ..

I suppose you mean bootlooped not "bootlocked" because it is already unlocked, right?
A custom recovery with official MIUI requires a boot image fix and you'd better simply install this https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/8-9-20.46616/ as it works without any issues and you'll be able to easily mod it any way you want.
:good:
Use Official twrp recovery, download it from here -> https://twrp.me/xiaomi/xiaomiredmi4x.html
Magisk manager -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
there are several audio mods available, i do not use any so can not suggest any.

yup it bootlooped not locked(my bad), the bootloader is unlocked.
And would i lose all my data if i flashed this on top of my global rom and can i restore my data via restore from a backup in twrp ?

You will not lose anything if you try a "dirty flash". Wipe only advanced-cache/dalvik (don't wipe data!) and everything should work if you use "xiaomi.eu_multi_HM4X_8.9.20_v10-7.1.zip" which is exactly the same MIUI version as the official.
A "dirty flash" while preserving data/setup may not be always successful but you can restore your backup later should something go wrong.
Normal flash is recommended but you'd have to deal with app re-installations.
